Our 8 year old space station, "Fox" although proved extremely useful over the years, has reached the limits of its abilities for our space program. Automated, unmanned laboratories can conduct many of the experiments that the station was designed to preform, and much cheaper and less dangerously. The secondary function of the station, the assembly and refueling of spacecraft in orbit, is no longer viable due to the ever increasing size of our deep space probes and other craft. It can still serve us, providing intelligence data, relaying communications, monitoring weather and repairing satellites but the scientific experimination use is all but exahusted. What to do what to do? It occurs to us, some nations do not have space stations of their own, and in fact lack a manned spaceflight program all together. What if we rented out lab space on the station? What a wonderful way to keep the station in use and up and running for another few years.
There are 2 large labs and one small lab for rent. The repair/assembly bay is also for rent, however we may need to use it, so a tentative schedule will be worked out so that its rental does not interfere with our ongoing operations.
You should provide
Large Lab, 2 weeks, 2 crewmen: $20 million* (each extra crewmember is $1.8 million, each additonal week is $10.5 million)
Small Lab, 2 weeks, 1 crewman: $15 million* (each additonal week is $8 million)
Repair Bay, 3 days, 1 crewman: 6 million* (each extra crewmember is $1.8 million(EVA worker only), each additonal day is $1.5 million)
*transport not included
A tourism visit, 14 day stay in orbit, training, transport and meals included will cost $15 million per person :)
We are already constructing a new space station, "Phoenix" we beleive it will better serve our needs into the next few decades.

too expenisive?

ooc: yes it is too expensive. why not just pawn it off and get a huge auction going. that would bring in eight or nine times as much as renting it out. while renting itself would have an extended payroll enhancement. your call though. i would go with the auction.

Fine, go build your own space stations, Id like to see you do it for less, it costs 20mil for just 1 week on the ISS so die :(
Camel Eaters
07-12-2004, 04:41
ooc: that may be so but many nations are FT so this is really nothing. all you need to do is pawn this sucker off to a MT and then you can charge huge amounts for it.

this is a modern tech station
Camel Eaters
07-12-2004, 04:48
ooc: yes! and with that knowledge you can properly pawn it off to another MT. but no respectable FT nation is going to pull that much wank for an outdated (according to their tech level) station.

im not trying to rent it to FT nations.... im targeting newer MT nations who dont have a space program yet...
Camel Eaters

ooc: okay that may be but a newer nation doesn't have the resources to rent this out that's why....
IC: Any young nation that does not have the proper resources to rent this station but still needs it for any viable use will be given financial aid. To an extent. To help them start the development of their fledgling space program. We are happy to help as always.

you realize 20 million dollars is like couch change for a governments...... even 10-100 million pop nations

We would like to rent 1 Large Lab, for 8 weeks with 2 crewmen and we would like to have one of the lab crewmen operate the Repair Bay for 1 day if possible.
If agreed, money will be sent. Our astronauts will launch via apollo style capsule.

pfftt.. I'll rent everything out just to end the bickering lol

The Non Aligned States wishes to know if this station is capable of carrying out research and production of superconducting materials. If so, we may contract some of the facilities.
Sincerely,
Luther Stembridge,
Chairman of the Non Aligned States.

certainly, our research on board the station has led to the development of our own superconducters and advanced coilguns. We are sure that the station can support your needs..
Blacktower how long id you want to rent the whole station? I could give you a slight discount :D

We would like to rent a large lab on board the station for the period of one year. However, since our space program is mostly in its infancy, we would request that you provide transport for our research team and their supplies. There will be a total of 4 researchers on this venture. We would of course be willing to compensate you for the transportation costs involved.
Sincerely,
Luther Stembridge,
Chairman of the Non Aligned States

Certainly, we will arrange seats for you on board the next MAG-1 flight
Incantare Beliarh, how much would you be willing to pay?
I would like to buy it.

The Druchii will rent one large laberatory, if this is not avalibe, we will buy the small one. We will have a small orbit transport to allow rest for our people.

Suggest a price, I have a very wealthy nation, filled with some tempermental and destructive people.

Druchii for how long would like the labaratory.
I have decided not to sell the station for anything besides an obscene amount of money

The Republic of Serconea is interested in this space station.
Our space programme is in its infancy (OOC: next to non-existent, but we will make moves very soon, probably before our next elections. I intend to start a space launch thread very soon, but I need the technology first), but we would like to use this station for research.
We would like to rent the small lab for a period of two weeks, with two astronauts and will pay for transportation by your spacecraft.
Would it be possible for us to send an unmanned craft to inspect the station first?

10 Years at least, most likley as long as it is opperational. And if it is going to be abandonded, then we will buy the scrap.

Certainly, we will arrange seats for you on board the next MAG-1 flight
We thank you for accomodating our request. We will assemble the research team and have them ready for departure. The funds will be wired once the team has arrived on the station.
Sincerely,
Luther Stembridge,
Chairman of the Non Aligned States
OOC: I need those superconductors for my space program. No surprises for how I'm going to go about it.
