TIMIOCATO (PPA) - The CLP and Senatoro have passed a bill allowing corporations to bid for school contracts. This semi-privatization would allow them to inject funding into public schools. In exchange, a small percentage of students would be required to job shadow or work for that company as part of Pacitalia's mandatory work experience graduation requirement.
"I think it's a great idea," says CLP Speaker Maurizio Salvatore Neglio. "This is a good way for the education system to provide proper education for the people that will eventually run this nation. This way, we ensure we're getting a clean source of funding and only 1% of our students need to work for that company. Besides, there will be other companies funding us as well, so the students will have a choice who they want to job shadow for, if they are picked to fill the quota."
Liberal Leader Fernando Chiovitti disagrees. "This is outrageous! What happened to the good old PTA bake sale?"
International corporations are able to bid on these contracts but they must have subsidiary offices in Pacitalia. Pacitalian corporations get first dibs on students.
