I have started Earth VIII because I think that there are to many people on the other ones. The rules of this one are;


You can claim up to three countries, but they must be adjacent
America's "states" count as countries
war and annexation are allowed to gain more land

can you break the larger countries down like you are the US, nations like China, Russia, Brazil, Canada? That way no one gets uber strong in land just by picking a large nation?

I have never heard of Yunnan or Hainan, and I am not yet sure how to split China so I will have to ask you to request different countries.

OOC:Eugoria, I was looking at your map; I want to point out that Sardinia and Sicily are part of Italy. Well, just for fun I'll RP taking them.

Reichmarshal Herman von Kunter boarded the ship in Taranto that would take the 4th Dominion Expeditionary Force to Sicily, to conquer it in the name of Emperor Maximillian and Austerreich. Almost 5,000 men were being sent to Sicily, and another 3,000 to Sardinia from Naples. With luck and good weather, the two islands would be brought into the Empire within a month at most.

After hours onboard the RMS Innspruck, von Kunter was glad to set his feet on dry land again. As he stepped out of the landing boat onto shore near Syracuse, the heat hit him like a truck. Damn, he thought, and I thought Rome was unbearable. He'd be glad to get back to Austria. His adjutant appeared beside him with some reports.

"Herr Marshal, you will be glad to hear that the lead elements of the 4th have already taken reached Mount Aetna. As of right now, we control the entire eastern coast of the island, from Casmenae to Acrae up to Leontini and north to Messinia as well as everything to the east. Paratroopers have also secured the islands of Didyme, Lipara, and Hiera. Communications with the 1st Expeditionary Force out off Naples reports that the natives are welcoming Dominion soldiers in Sardinia with open arms."

It had been a long, hot, three weeks here in Sicily, but finally the Dominon was poised to secure its dominance over the island. The natives had begun to resist Dominion force after the Battle of Centoripa, and although Dominon troops had won every engagement since, the fighting had slowed the conquest of Sicily to a halt, and gotten a number of good men killed.

Now, the 4th AEF, along with soldiers from the 1st (the conquest of Sardinia had been largely peaceful and the troops were needed in Sicily) were poised to take the final Sicilian stronghold of Agrigentum. The natives held the city and the surrounding land for about a mile. A massive artillery bombardment began, to stun the enemy while the 4500 infantry moved in close to the city, forcing the natives into the city where they could not escape. As the infantry reached the city, the bombardment stopped. Close to a thousand Dominion troops entered the city to flush out the resistance, while the rest formed a cordon around the city to act as a net to capture any escaping enemies.

Urban combat waged ferociously throughout the city as the Dominion soldiers hammered the defenses of the Sicilians. Austrians, Hungarians, Czechs, Slavs, Slovaks, Italians...many men gave their lives for the Dominion during that battle. But the Sicilian militia, mostly poorly trained farmers with hunting rifles, were no match for the professional soldier's of Maximillian's army. After close to three five hours, von Kunter received a message from the Sicilian militia leader.

"General, this is Colonel Benito Armani. I'm the man in charge of the militia here, so I guess it's my job to say this. It isn't easy, mind you, and we all may live to regret it, but...We surrender."

A cheer rose throughout the Dominion camp. The fight was finally over!

Duke Samuel Farqurhar shook hands with Governor James Bernard. The treaty they'd just signed would effectivlely bring California into the Kingdom as a province of Malkyer. Bernad would be made an Earl, and the people of California would gain all the rights, freedoms, and protections of Malkyeri citizens. At 11:30 AM Pacific Time, about two hours away, the flag of California would be taken down in front of the Governor's Mansion and the Flag of Malkyer would be raised in it's place.

I'll make this easy by supplying my own map. With the exception of China and Tawain, I claim everything on the map, including those parts of Malaysia and Indonesia that are not shown on the map.

I tried to make it really easy for ya' I gave you a map and everything with my claims so you didn't have to do anything for me except maybe say "OK" or "Accepted" or some such thread moderator type thing.

Oh, and rather than write in the "master list" Australia, New Zealand, etc. you can just post my name and "Oceana" or "The South Pacific" That'll cover it I do believe. Oh, and I am quite certain my country's size of a billion+ people and our budget (see here (http://nseconomy.thirdgeek.com/nseconomy.php?nation=mauiwowee) could handle the claim w/ no problem. Besides, it is mostly rinky-dink tourist trap islands.
