With the influx of new countries, we need to take measures to spearhead the recent trend of noobishness with the teaching of proper roleplay ettiquete. I propose an orginization in which, new nations can be directed to learn how to Roleplay in Nationstates.
The teaching will be one on one so as to provide the best quality 'education'.

Ideas, suggestions, applications?

We need an organized system, starting with the best and working our way down.

If you want to do this, be ready to devote your life to it. I, the original creator and dean of the NationStates University, found out that it took more time and effort "grading" the students than it did doing my near minimum-wage job or writing college papers. Beyond making me have more respect for teachers, it was a bad experience. Not only did it take away from my roleplaying and other NS time, but it took away from my real life time, becoming an actual job. I don't like volunteer work, and I hated NSU.

OOC: In my opinion, the best teacher is experience since it is only a game. There are stickies available for everyone to read and most people in NS are approachable and willing to help out. But I really feel that it's up to that person to educate themselves, which does include asking questions and receiving good answers, not condescending ones, from vets.

Establishing a "school" to help people play NS better is noble, but as Steel said, will involve a lot of work. I suppose if you were really keen, you could write up some kind of manual and post it on the internet.

I will gladly teach n00bs RPing properly. Even though character RPing is perhaps my forte, I will gladly teach nation RPing as well. If you need help, just let me know. I have a lot of time on my hands so I can devote time to this.

I created a list of 10 guidelines, but my internet froze and it was deleted. I think we should create a list of guidelines and some samplings of good and bad posts and put READ IF THIS IS YOUR FIRST RPing! or something. And sticky it.

Ok, should I make the guidelines, or do you want to?

A combined effort would be best. So, any ideas for good RPing or bad RPing?

I'd concur with Steel Butterfly - there have been several attempts at this concept.

Along with Stephistan, I founded the Role Play University. We had over 100 students pass through our classes - and had a great group of teachers.

But it became too much very quickly. I never got a chance to RP myself, I (and some of the teachers) ended up marking work late into the night.

I don't regret the experience - but it was a lot of work.

Before you get too far into this - make sure you realize the commitment you're making...and if I can offer any other advice, feel free to telegram me.

I love the enthusiasm behind this, but as Wolfish said, it's an enormous undertaking and your success often depends on the aptitude of the student.

I don't know if I had anyone consciously mentoring me when I started playing NS (though I give props to Scandavian States for some overtures in that direction and I give credit to Isselmere as my mentor of sorts), but a lot of success as a developing RPer comes from experience, as someone said earlier.
