A screen flickered to life. An image, a battle weary soldier, his face behind the helmet of a converted IAU High Radiation Variant
Weapons fire. It was close, very close. Screams, and blood curdling howls. The man spoke, but naught but carnage could be heard.
The screen flickered, now the recording unit was displaying at a wider angel. Behind the soldier were several more, all wearing similar suits. Their weapons were raised, and they were firing, but it was unsure at what.
The screen flickered once again, and then the man's words could be heard.
“Under attack, ne-” More flickering, and increased interference. The image returned, the look on the man's face now more panicked, “This is the 3rd- Hobbes- Marine- Need-”
The screen went blank, but the audio remained. Now, all that could be heard was continued weapons fire, mixed in the saddening cries of wounded soldiers. More sounds, unidentifiable by anyone added into the battle.
Finally, the picture returned, the man's face was frightened, and as a tear trickled down his cheek, he uttered, “Please...” and then the screen was splattered in blood.
The message, the final words of the man, were lost in the vacuum of space.
