Pharaoh Tuthmosis VII to visit The Island of Rose

At the suggestion of TIOR's leader, Sergei Ilyanov, Pharaoh Tuthmosis now travelled on a luxury national jet liner to meet with him in an effort to bridge the gap, and to persuade Council members to vote against a bill to ban TIOR citizens from Ra-Horakty soil in response to a 'mass conversion' effort.

Tuthmosis had never travelled outside of Ra-Horakty before, and found the endless blue of the ocean to be thrilling. For nearly the entire trip, he had been gazing out of the window, looking down at the various types of scenery. A blue horizon instead of a gold one was quite remarkable to him.

Milling around the corridor outside the Pharaoh's compartment were five large, muscular men -- the medjai. Dressed in traditional clothing, they wore no body armour as such, but they would not require it. Black robes with brown leather belts and chest straps, with various gold-embossed hieroglyphs adoring their chests and cuffs. A short golden blade with an ornamental hilt hung from each of their belts, glistening with a high-quality finish. They kept out of the Pharaoh's way, but made a point of getting into everyone elses'.

After managing to sidestep the paranoid medjai guards, one of the Pharaoh's advisors entered the compartment with a slip of refined papyrus in his hand.

"Lord, another message from the Governmental Pyramid," the young man said, bowing his head. "The Defence Representative again, urging you to return to our home and forego petty foreign disputes." He handed the slip to Tuthmosis, who looked down at the series of colourful images.

"Send a message back to the Representative," Tuthmosis said quietly. "Inform him that I do this only to decrease any risk of needing his services."

"Yes, Lord," the advisor said. He bowed his head again and pushed through the cloth door, heading back towards the nose of the plane. He gazed back out of the window in time to be interrupted again.

"This is the pilot speaking," a voice said over the speakers. "All personnel buckle up and hold on to something, we're initiating landing procedures."

Tuthmosis sighed and sat down in one of the seats behind his desk, strapping himself in. The medjai came into his compartment and took up the remaining seats, also strapping themselves in.

"I hope they know what they are doing," Tuthmosis muttered. "This plane hasn't been used many times."

"Do not worry, my Lord," one of the medjai grumbled, overhearing his mumblings. "If the pilot threatens your life, I will kill him before the plane hits the ground."

"That won't be necessary..." Tuthmosis said uneasily. The medjai shrugged and looked away.

After a rather bumpy landing, one of the plane crew poked his head through the curtain and bowed slightly at the Pharaoh.

"Lord, we have successfully landed on The Island of Rose," the man said. "You may disembark at will."

"Thank you," Tuthmosis said. He took his North-South crown and placed it on his head in place of his casual headgear. Formalities, formalities. How he hated them. May as well make a good impression, though.

Ducking under the small doorway and holding onto his crown, he followed two medjai down the steps. Another two followed, and one remained on the plane to ensure nobody tried to tamper with anything. That medjai would have access to firearms, as was standard issue on the Pharaoh's plane. The other four kept their blade weapons but left their pistols behind.
The two medjai in front of him stepped down to the concrete ground, looking around cautiously, and stepped aside to make room for the Pharaoh. He gently put a foot on the floor and came to a halt, looking around at the airport.

The Proletariat Commonwealth of The Island of Rose. One of the most militarily and politically influential nations of NationStates. Protector of 5 Protectorates, a Socialist Paradise, and overall peaceful, it wasn't considered a threat to many nations. The Island of Rose also had peaceful relations with most nations and is also an oddity of the International community.

Though the Pharaoh will find out himself why.

The Island of Rose has a rich culture, spanning every European culture and even some eastern influences. It was easy going, not really hiding under a facade of social standards.

The Island of Rose was also a political oddity. It had only 6 major parties, and not the hundreds another nation usually had. Or the one a dictatorship comprised of. It was run by a centre-socialist party which was called the Red Party, ironic eh? But enough about the nation.

A limo, a stretch, approached the plane that landed. It had little flags of Ra-Horakty on the back and front. Inside was so luxiourious that you would think that you were inside a capitalist nation. But you aren't, you're in a socialist state so get over it. The door opened, revealing a guard armed with an RAR-1C.

The driver's window scrolled down. "I'm here to pick up the Pharoah!" He shouted in an informal way. "Come on, get in."

Tuthmosis looked the long vehicle over for a few seconds while the paranoid medjai started looking for bombs and suchlike.

"Greetings," Tuthmosis called to the driver. "I will... um... ah, you are satisfied yes? Very well, I will enter."

The medjai glared at the guard as the Pharaoh slipped through them to get into the back of the vehicle. He removed his large crown as he did so, and made sure his robes were not going to get caught in the door. The medjai got in with him, two sitting either side of him, and two sitting opposite from him. They still glared at the guard, their hands fairly close to their knives.

"Don't mind them," Tuthmosis said. He shot the ranking medjai a harsh look, who then nodded to the other guards. They appeared to relax, though none of them took an eye of the guard. "We are ready, proceed at your leisure!" he called.

The driver chuckled. "Welcome to the Island." He slowly pressed on the accelerator and after a few minutes he got onto the road.

The guard chuckled. "Ah, so you're the Pharoah? Welcome to the Island. I'm Lieutenant Fond Hagger. I'll protect you during the trip. I hope you noticed the massive amount of ships as you came. We have a lot of them."

He smirked. "Yes we do. I'm going to let you in on the local customs. Have a gun around you. Rosians are armed to the teeth. Here." He reached for his Colt holster. "I'll give you the gun when the guards let me give it to you."

He took his hand from the holster. "Wait, dignataries can't have guns... nevermind. Don't worry, they won't shoot at you. We have men everywhere."

An SUV passed them... it had an M2 on the roof. "Crazy soccer moms." He mumbled.

The limo entered Embassy Row...

"Greetings Lieutenant. Yes, these 'ships' are interesting," the Pharaoh nodded. "We have no coast -- only rivers, so our country has never had a need for them. A shame, I suppose."

His face seemed to become more sombre as the offer of a gun was made, and he saw a civilian car with a large weapon on the roof drive past.

"Um... OK, I'll be careful..." he said slowly. Leaning forwards, he whispered to the medjai: "Perhaps you needn't be too relaxed, yes?"

The medjai nodded, clutching the hilt of his knife in response.

Tuthmosis looked out through the window as they came to an area filled with more elegant buildings.

"Is your governmental building located with all these embassies?" he asked, pointing at the various nations' flags.

The king of Warring Barbarians was sent to the island to meet with the pharoah.Just to be safe he sent his secret service with him.As the king goes to the pharoah he says "so this is the man who lives on my ancestors land"then he chuckles to himself and watches the beautiful sunset.

Fond chuckled as he heard the Phraoah whisper. "Don't worry about the Rosians. We just like guns. We have no crime whatsoever and Foreign Dignitaries are treated with respect."

He nodded. "The Presidential Villa is in the center of all these Embassies. The various Ministries operate out of it and the President is alway in close contact of the embassies."

The limo went down the straight road, which was actually a giant sidewalk too. There were no special decorations, the Rosians didn't see the point in grand affairs. It passed the various Embassies, the Rosians running back and forth, the foreigners transfering packages of God knows what. And after a few minutes the limo arrived at the Villa.

"We're here." He said. He opened the door, the RAR-1C hanging from his neck. "Just ring the bell."

Fond walked towards the door and rang the bell. "Or I'll do it." He chuckled, the door opened and at the door...

Was Sergei wearing a white t-shirt, blue jeans, and comboy boots. And at his chest was a Colt .45 holster with a Colt inside of it. "So you must be the Pharoah." Sergei said. "Come in."

"Greetings, on behalf of my people," Tuthmosis said, bowing his head slightly. He'd replaced his crown on getting out of the limo. He gestured at the medjai to follow him, not that they needed reminding, as he followed Sergei inside. He pulled something out of his robes; a small (about 9 inches high) statue of Anubis, in polished black compound stone. Some hieroglyphs were calved into the base, and all Anubis' features were also carved in great detail. He offered it to Sergei.

"A small token, a part of our culture. Something like this would be placed in our tombs to guard the body from demons; it is a sacred object. I find it generous of you to host me after the behaviour of the Grand High Priest earlier," he said, looking around. "It is appreciated. I would be interested in what you have planned for this visit."

Sergei took the Anubis. "Interesting, I'll put it up in my room." He shook the Pharoah's hand with his free hand. "No worries."

He led the Phraroah inside the Villa. Inside was a grand hall, a ballroom. Two staircases led up to a balcony, windows on the side. European swords on display on the walls of the balcony. Roman statues here and there. Sergei stretched his arms. "This is my Villa. Now, I suppose you can sleep in one of the rooms. I was planning to show you all 7 cities of the Island, maybe a few Protectorates."

He turned to the Pharoah. "If it's okay with you."

"Seven cities?" Tuthmosis exclaimed. "I assume they must be large cities, then. Unless the criteria for becoming a 'city' officially are stricter here..."

He looked rather uncomfortable when he looked at the Roman statues, but shook it off and turned around. "Is everyone armed with a lethal weapon, here, or just a few 'extreme' people? Well, anyway, I would like to get started as soon as I can now that I am fully rested. I have an appointment back in Heliopolis in a few days that I can't delay too long."

Sergei shook his head. "They are very big cities. The rest is either road or plain. I guess you want to tour the Villa first."

He chuckled. "Everybody's armed. I try to introduce anti-gun laws, but Parliament usually votes against it. It's a cultural thing I suppose. Tell me about your culture, it must be interesting. Especially since you are egyptian."
Ra-Horakty
07-12-2004, 12:19
"Well our culture lacks weapons, for one," Tuthmosis nodded. "The only people who have them are those who live in the deserts. They need to defend against the large carnivores that roam around out there. The army tries to sweep the more densely populated areas of the desert once in a while, but the attacks still occur. Otherwise, we are a peaceful people much like everybody else. People work, go to school they have families, watch television, drive their cars. Most people follow Ra-Horakty, but other major Gods include Anubis and Maat. Though, most people aren't any more obsessive about their religion than anyone else.
"This is a most impressive building," he said, looking around. "Not exactly what I would call 'traditional' style, but then, I'm more accustomed to a completely different 'traditional' style than you, I suppose. I am very eager to meet some of your more 'average' people, actually. I need to satisfy the Grand High Priest's fears that your entire population consists entirely of religious zealots..."
The Island of Rose
08-12-2004, 00:03
Sergei laughed. "If you want Zealots, you go to Mississippi. They give us Christians a bad name."

He escorted the Pharoah towards the stairs. "But I assure you, the Rosians are peaceful. Except when they go to war, then they're just ruthless." He started escorting him up the stairs. "I also hope that the Commonwealth resides within The New Roman Empire. So I find it ironic that you're a visiting diplomat."

They were at teh top. Sergei sighed. "Do you wish to see my office?"
Ra-Horakty
08-12-2004, 00:59
"I have had heard of Mississippi," the Pharaoh nodded. "I even communicated with them once, though we were ignored. It is almost as though they do the things they do to gauge the international response... not that I resent being ignored; on the contrary, I would rather not associate with such... people. No matter. I would very much like to see your office."

Sergei started escorting Tuthmosis down the hall, take a left, and what have you. On the way they passed Government officials and Rosian soldiers who were assigned to protect the Villa. Sergei turned the knob, and it revealed...!!

An Office. On the walls were the Rosian flag, and a red rug. On a small corner was a television and some gaming consoles. And directly in front of them was a desk with a red phone on it and an oversized window where Sergei could look out but Rosian couldn't look in to. "My office." Is what Sergei simply said, nothing more.

09-12-2004, 17:21
"My 'office', as it is, may have a perfect view of the golden city of Heliopolis, but..." he looked around. "It isn't quite as much... fun, as this one. Do you ever do any work here? As a man of my people, I must say that I am shocked that you could fit time into deciding what to do with people's lives to play video games... but... as a man, I have to say that I am rather jealous..."

09-12-2004, 23:47
Sergei chuckled. "Parliament does most of the work. I usually just sign documents or introduce bills. Thus is life." He showed Tuthmosis the view from the giant window. It showed Embassy Row, a giant site to be sure. Flags of many nations waved in the air, people walking around looking like ants. "And as you see I have a good view too." He sat on his Office chair. "Any questions?" He smirked.
Ra-Horakty
10-12-2004, 16:21
"Do you not perhaps feel... wary, at having foreign embassies right next to your governmental building?" Tuthmosis asked, looking out the window. "I mean... can they not start shooting at important members of your government, or even at you, or plant bombs, or... generally cause problems, should relations between your nation and one of theirs become sour?"
The Island of Rose
10-12-2004, 23:18
Sergei smirked. "And as you may have noticed Rosians are armed to the teeth. And as if you may have not noticed, Rosian Diplomats are trained in basic self defense techniques. And if there is a crisis I can just run up the Embassy." He chuckled. "Well I'm sure you'd like to tour the city by now, I've been rambling for too long."
