Designwerks needs your help once again!

Schultaria Prime
03-12-2004, 21:34
The State Industries of Schultaria Prime: Designwerks is calling on the global community for insight into our recent export slump.

For the last 8 NS years, Designwerks' export sales have fallen to record lows that haven been seen in several decades. In turn, Schultaria Prime now faces a serious economic threat in sustaining Designwerks' current selection of export available products; if our economic indicators do not experience a dramatic upturn in the next few years, the Government of Schultaria Prime has mulled over the possibility of removing certain areas of the Schultarian export lineup.

Therefore, before any permanent action is taken, we need YOUR help.

We would like to know what you would see from Designwerks, and what direction our company should take. However, as this company is under the control of The United Socialist States of Schultaria Prime, one limitation applies.

+NO OFFENSIVE WEAPONS (OOC: If you want military equipment, try the other 40+ storefronts that sell only weapons. Defensive weapons might be a possibility, but you'd have to specify what types of defensive measures you are seeking.)

Please click on the next two lines, and give any suggestions YOU think would be helpful in improving our storefront.

OoC: Not quite ready to write up an IC post for this due to headache.

Prefab buildings or other special building projects might be a good idea, pre-fab units to put together a small hospital, airport, port or logistics centre.

Something to deter those damned air to ground missiles from blowing up my stationary instalations, something cheaper then a CWIS and it doesn't have to be re-useable.

OOC:

I hardly speak for the leadership, but I am sure that some form of pre-fab medical facilities and care centres would be of great benefit to the World Humanitarian League. Ditto civilian style vehicles and aircraft for helping those who need it get aid quicker.

With the amount of money certain nations are willing to put into the League, it could prove financially beneficial to Designwerks.

OOC: I have a couple of vehicles that are commonly utilized by Schultarian firms that could serve that niche, and I'll take the time to flesh out the concepts. As for the pre-fab structures, I hope that what I'm designing in response to the suggestions from this thread will be considered by numerous nations in the immediate and distant future. It just seems that civilian technology isn't as appealing enough compared to the activity that military storefronts receive on a weekly basis.

The Federation of Aligned Planets are always looking for new and innovative pesticides/herbicides to enhance our crop yield - perhaps a move into the petrochemical field would be beneficial?

Communications, including the development of mobile technology and increased reception, would be of much interest to our Nation.

Another BUMP for the Evening

OOC: By definition of "mobile" technology, is that in reference to cellular phones and personal radio devices, or through some other method? Just curious as to the specifics you're asking.

As for MassPwnage, our contractor service is the same as our custom projects division [Designwerks: Projektum], mainly because it would simply take up too much bandwidth to create the dozens of individual contractor services that would be provided by our nation.

Also, taking the world around us as an example, many nations often employ foreign firms for their manufacturing technology.

-I grew up in a town called Waupaca, Wisconsin; our main industry is a foundry that specializes in producing automotive components for Ford and General Motors. The company, owned by a German firm and operated for American interests, utilizes industrial technology imported from Japan, Great Britain, and France because of the specific technologies built solely by foreign firms.

Building on that I leave with the following thought. When was the last time everything you owned was built from solely one nation? Make sure to include where the raw materials came from too.

SECURE TRANSMISSION (AAUTH: JENSA-TALMEC)

A Message from Schultaria Prime

Your nation has inquired into the nature of the military campaign known as Operation: Brimstone and its current details. As of now, the amount of news on the event has been growing almost as fast as the conflict itself. This is the current analysis of the situation as interpreted by the Schultarian Central Directorate, Schultarian Kamor Collabraci (Defensive Forces), and Schultarian Intelligence Directorate for International Affairs (SID-8).

A few weeks ago, a convoy of naval vessels operated under the colors of the Nation of Automagfreek was heading towards Crimmond in an effort to re-supply current Sentinel deployments. While still in Freek national waters, a submarine opened fire on the convoy sinking several vessels. After a brief, but intense, exchange of salvos the enemy vessel was damaged and recovered for analysis by the nation of Automagfreek. The submarine was positively identified as belonging to the Nation of The Macabees.

While hostilities had been predominantly of a cold war type nature between the two nations, this action set forth a chain of events which has led to the conflict as it is known presently. Even during the time in which the nation of Automagfreek was recovering the foreign sub for analysis, satellite reconnaissance had analyzed a significant increase in troop mobilizations in the nations composing the Right Wing Collective. Since the Nation of The Macabees was a senior ranking member of this alliance, the circumstantial evidence pieced together by Freek intelligence place the blame squarely on the Macabee navy.

As is standard policy for the Nation of Automagfreek, they issued an ultimatum declaring open hostilities and demanding immediate capitulation of the offending nation and any allies who wished to defend. In response, The Macabees and several allies of the Right Wing Collective departed their alliance to promote their allegiance to a besieged compatriot. As a response to the growing number of nations joining the Macabee cause, Automagfreek issued a request to enable several of his closest alliances to counteract the growing potential conflict.

Currently, the conflict involves some fifteen nations on the side of Automagfreek and some seven to eleven in support of The Macabees. Fighting has been initiated in the nations of mainland Zarbia and Dumpsterdam while tensions have continued to mount elsewhere. In support of the nation of Automagfreek, the alliances of RBA, Metus, NWO, and NATO have been called in to help wherever possible to provide logistical and combat support to provide an expedient conclusion to the fighting. Since Schultaria Prime is a member of the New Alliance Treaty Organization (NATO) and resides some 800 km away from the Zarbian colonial empire, we have called up several taskforces to provide additional reinforcement to our allies.

Dakkien Mobile Medical Facility

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v352/emschultz/fokker2.jpg

Developed as a response to the immense tragedy surrounding the Contact Day Massacre, this facility has been pressed into service throughout Schultaria Prime. As a cheap and viable way to provide medical care to areas without significantly developed infrastructure, the Dakkien has proven to be of immense success in Islandia Schultarias' rural communities where medical treatment is both expensive and extremely time consuming. In addition, its ease of use and portability have not gone unnoticed by the Schultarian Defense Forces; with a grant of over seven billion dollars, the Schultarian military has collaborated with Designwerks to not only make this facility more rugged and better suited for field work, but to provide the facilities necessary to distribute this wonderful device for humanitarian efforts throughout the world.

The Dakkien is the most complete mobile medical structure offered by any nation in the world. With multiple wards to treat quarantined patients to the integration of fully supplied surgery and medical diagnostic equipment, this structure offers all the necessary supplies to house two dozen seriously afflicted individuals and treat over one hundred and fifty emergency cases per day. Attached to a mobile solar power supply and a source of fresh water, this facility can operate indefinitely with a frequent supply of necessary medical equipment.

To the Nation of Lindim

Thank you for purchasing from Designwerks; without your support, many of us in Schultaria Prime feel that we are not helping diffuse the arsenal of peace. We hope that you find our technology to be of the absolute highest standards compared to any other international firm, and that the Schultarian pursuit of innovation is embodied in each and every one of our products. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact us at any time. We always strive to meet the demands of our consumers. These medical facilities should prove to be of great use wherever they're required; it's unfortunate that it had to take a massive tragedy such as the Contact Day Massacre to develop this for the public market, but we're glad that it may provide some use to our most valued customers.

Total construction time will take approximately 10 NS months for your order of 20 Dakkien Mobile Medical Facilities. We hope that these devices are successful with your government's requirements, and that they shall be a boon to your humanitarian efforts. Since you are a nation of good standing with Schultaria Prime, a discount of 10% will be placed on your order as usual.

Your total cost (With 10% Discount): $16,200,000

Thank you once again for choosing Designwerks,

Fire off a telegram or two Sharina if you have an idea; it would be great to have brought closure to the whole research conference thing, but with other events in NATO that unfortunately went straight to the backburner. It would be great if there could be at least four or five nations willing to have a nice discussion based character RP in the next few weeks. However, given that I'll probably be away from the internet for at least the first two weeks of January, we'll keep our role play designs for the long term.

Perhaps if there's enough interest in other nations joining the Designwerks: Connexion we could make it a collaborative effort with complete storefront admin rights. It would be nice to have a collective of nations working under the aegis of Designwerks to provide quality civilian export items that would not be able to compose a full fledged storefront in and of itself.

Yet another device has been introduced to Designwerks

Peldaer High Power Multi-fuel Engine (Designwerks Component Design)

Here is the description (from the storefront threads)

Peldaer High Power Multi-fuel Engine (PDGt - HPMf794)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v352/emschultz/frank111.jpg

While the Dnervoc has proven to be a worthwhile and time tested engine system for the majority of Schultaria Prime's transportation industry, it unfortunately was unable to provide the necessary power for many of our military's more massive machines. To combat the problem the researchers from University of Schultaria Prime - Myrle were once again called to the task of designing an engine suitable for a vehicle with adverse environmental and fuel conditions. After eighteen months of research into the design of various piston powered engines, a radical shift in the engineering department's ideology led to the development of the Peldaer.

A positive result of the engine's propulsion system is its incredible fuel tolerance; while most piston driven engines require a specific fuel mixture, the Peldar is tolerant of any combustible hydrocarbon substance. In several unorthodox tests the SKC, utilizing three retrofitted heavy battle tanks, were able to conduct combat maneuvers operating on a mixture of liquid methane and perfume. Instead of relying on the power of a reciprocating piston, the Peldaer operates on the concept of an internal pressurized turbine concept. In addition to its nearly limitless fuel tolerances, the ratio of power versus weight with engines of this caliber is far more beneficial than with any known piston driven engine.

Dimensions: Length (1.65 m) Width: (.65 m) Height [With Supercharger]: (.85 m) Weight: (340 kg)

Standard Operating Fuels:
Schultarian Ethanol (Approx. 170 - 190 proof)
Conventional Gasoline (Octane Rating of greater than or equal to 30)
Diesel Oil
Fan / Compressor Stages: 2 / 6

Idle / Maximum Governed Speed: 3,000 rpm / 25,000 rpm

Net Operating Power (hp): 1,500 hp at 14,000 rpm

Cooling System: Liquid Compression with power assisted pump.

Golomal All Purpose Vehicle

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v352/emschultz/Generalvehicle.jpg

Currently in use by the SKC, the Golomal has served the Schultarian nation faithfully in twenty years of humanitarian and defensive operations. With only minor upgrades to its technical systems and body frame, the general design of this vehicle has remained largely unchanged. Although created specifically for the defensive forces of Schultaria Prime, a limited number of these vehicles are now being offered in demilitarized form for our international clients. Designed for extremely difficult terrain and high transportability, this vehicle is significantly lighter than other comparable off-road vehicles and sports a more powerful engine than its international counterparts. From the near impassable rainforests of Central America to the brutally cold climates of the Arctic regions, the Golomal will perform its job quite faithfully.

Dimensions: Length (4.75 m) Width: (2.25 m) Height: (1.85 m)

Weight: 1.65 Metric Tons Fully Loaded and Operable

Engine: 1 DN - HvM508 6 Cylinder Dnervoc Ethanol Engine with 350 horsepower

Maximum Seating Capacity: 6 (With Capability of Holding 10 in Emergency Settings)

Terrain Limitations:
Fording Depth (Max): 1.75 Meters with appropriate modifications
Maximum Grade: 65% With Ideal Traction
Side Slope: 40 Degrees
Vehicle Limitations
Maximum Speed: 100 km/h on Ideal Paved Roads
Fuel Range: 500 km at 60 km/h
Transmission Type: 4 Speed Automatic With Fixed Four Wheel Drive
Fuel Type: Schultarian Ethanol | Standard Diesel Oil
Total Cost: $110,000 Per Vehicle

(Optional) Armor Package:

A titanium skin reinforced by aluminum ribbing; though it doesn't offer the same protection as an armored tracked vehicle, this armor does provide critical protection against moderate volumes of small arms fire at a weight considerably less than steel of the same thickness. All armor thickness values are equivalent to their hardened steel counterparts.

-Front / Undercarriage Armor: 60 mm
-Top Armor: 35 mm
-Side / Rear Armor: 55 mm

Total Cost (With Armor Addition): $195,000 Per Vehicle

Hiyas, Schultaria.

I've been trying to look into micro-hydraulics, as I am trying to develop a viable movement system for an all-purpose exo-suit, let it be construction suit, loading / offloading suit like in the Aliens movie, or defense suits.

I know there are some micro-hydraulics in use in prostheic legs and arms nowadays, but I wonder how to apply that to larger body frames.

Also, I've been trying to think of a way to design a power-plant to aid the movement of hydraulics and such, but has the capacity to operate other apparatus like welding, cutting, lasers, sawing, etc. tools.

That aside, I'd like to purchase that electronic newspaper system, as it would provide a great boon to my nation's publishing industries, as well as providing much needed reduction on wood / timber usage (don't need to use as many wood resources to print newspapers daily).

Keep up the good work!

OOC:

Now that I've moved for the winter break, I should have some time to conclude a few additional projects that have been on the docket for a while. If you want to purchase the electronic paper system Sharina, just make sure to place an appropriate post in on of my storefront's order forms.

As for the hydraulics, that shouldn't pose too much of a problem; I might be able to have a system hatched in a few days for you. The power system might be a bit of a difficult proposition but since Schultaria has some practical data on those TAPRES' multi fuel cells, it shouldn't occupy too much time either.

Actually I've been trying to do some research into experimental nanotechnology which would put conventional mechanical devices like this to pasture (synthetic musculature, reinforced lightweight exoskeletons, and the like). Of course this will naturally cost quite a deal of research and supplementary financing, but I feel it'll be worth it to try and explore this option.

-Also the research conference RP will be up shortly. However, before I start posting I want to make sure that I have enough nations willing to join and participate towards the conference's inevitable goal (The reestablishment of The Alliance of Pure Research and Engineering States).

I appreciate the heads up, Schultaria. I'd be more than happy to help provide funding and material IC'ly to the "smart materials" and nanotechnology.

I was thinking of having both a "Modern Era" type of exo-suit (so people would be more willing to RP aganist them) that would use micro-hydraulics and generators. Then I'd be willing to have an "exo-suit" made from your proposed future nanotechnology and "smart materials" for post modern or for when I join the Future Tech community later on.

Again, many thanks for your help and support, friend. :)
