Pergast
02-12-2004, 12:46
The ground shook as a troop of Panzers rumbled along, their tracks tearing up the grass underneath. Anton Braun, Leutnant in the Imperial Army of Pergast, sat atop his bucking steed with his binoculars in his hands. He called back to one of the other machines,
"Drescher! The mountain air might do us good, eh?"
Unteroffizier Drescher, who commanded the unit's Jagdpanzer, waved back, "I wouldn't know" he yelled, "This is only the third time I've left Dresden"
"City boy!", taunted Anton.
"And proud, Herr Braun. Where are we headed again?"
"Nuremberg, Drescher, or didn't you read the map I gave you?"
"I must admit, Herr Braun, I merely glanced at it"
"Never mind, Drescher. Nuremberg is a beautiful city, and it would be a shame to need to fight our way in"

Leutnant Hertz leapt from the transport aircraft into open sky, the ground stretching out below him. He could see their target, Munich, from up here. Hertz spread his arms and readied himself, before yanking his parachute open. Beside him a truck hung suspended in the air, it's multiple parachutes billowing above it. Below him was the target field, already marked with a couple of flares by a recon squadron. A few short seconds later Hertz skidded onto the ground at a slight angle, a practiced manouver which vastly lessened the impact.
"Third platoon!", he bellowed. "Third platoon! On me!"
It took a few minutes for the last of his men to land and three trucks to be secured, but soon the thirty-one men he commanded were assembled. Across the field he could see the other two platoons of his company were gathered together now. Hertz checked his map and his compass, marking the designated rendezvous for their battalion.
"Third platooon!, move out!"
