Iuthia hails the Data Revolution! [Tech Background]

Iuthia

It had been ten years since the program had started, ten years since both Mitsuhama Computer Technologies and the Iuthian Government had started their extensive research into the possibilities of optical microchips, where the wires were replaced by beams of light routed on-chip through air by silicon waveguides controlled by electro-optical switches.

Both corperation and government had made an agreement in order both benefit for from the technology they would produce together, allowing progress to be made at a relatively fast speed as corperation and government funding combined to acheive the feat.

Within the first six years of this program the research proven sucessful with the first working Photonic Microchips being the result, however they microchips were not entirely competing with their more simplistic brother, the electrical microchip... the costs were still too high and the improvements were limited. The real goal was to make a microchip which was much more electromagnetic pulse (EMP) resistant so that EMP weapons would be less affective against Iuthian electronics.

Finally just several days ago both corperation heralded their success. The first optical chip which could survive an electromagnetic pulse was constructed successfully for military use to upgrade the Iuthian networks across the nation... within a few years time optical computers would be available for commercial use with Mitsuhama Computer Technologies leading the data revolution...

Iuthia was now on the verge of a new age of technology, within only the first implantation of cybernetic eyes only a month ago people were looking to the future of Iuthia. Much would change in the years to come.
