Auction Earth IDEA-THREAD

Some months ago, I supposed the idea for auction earth. (Where you can buy countries with credits, which you get for populationsize {and/or Natl budget.})
Only 2 Earths were active at that time and a third was in the making.
The Auction Earth Idea was abandonned because there wouldn't be any interest in another Earth (too many Earths is a very bad thing indeed), but new Earths keep spawning where people can just claim vast areas of land and you just have to be the first to claim to get what you really want.
Some regulations concerning Population Size and claimable Land Area have been made (like in E2), but I still dont think that is enough. The popular countries should be harder to claim than the impopular ones.
It's quite interesting to place RP in the Real World, and I also think it's very interesting to see how Earth-Auction goes. How will the world look like when everybody has a chance to bid, and which countries are worth the most for NS-players.
It has potential imo.

Good idea, i would suggest though that you started the auction here on the Jolt/NS forums but make another forum for the winning nations to RP on, that way there would be no confusions as to which earth it is. I dont really get the idea of the whole earth thing completely well, why not just RP like we always have? just say your nation is 10 days saliling in a battle ship...or dont say how long it takes to get there(or have i just not got the idea?)

To place your RP in a map that we all know (the Worldmap) clears some of the questions about distance and traveltime.
There are more advantages to it, but I'm not opening this thread to defend the 'why Earth?'-question, I want to focus on 'how'.
I dont think a seperate forum will be necessary for the RPing. Or do you mean a subforum on jolt?

More In-Depth:
If a someone wants to enter Auction Earth he/she will subscribe. His/her Credits are calculated and administered.
A calender is made which shows per day which countries are up for auction.
(I'm thinking every day 2 new auctions open)
A minimum is set for every country, and the bidding can begin. It ends after, say 48 hours. The country is than rewarded to the highest bidder. The bid will be substracted from his/her credits. No-one can bid higher than his/her credits.
Countries without any bid will be put back on the bottom of calender.

Come on! I need to know!
It might be a good idea for those who were shut out of the territories they wanted in the other Earths...that way claims are fairer and the people who really want the nation in question can have it. The only problem is that it may lead to other kinds of resentment- if someone was just barely beaten, they may not take it too kindly, so a compromise may have to be set up in cases of close conflicts.
Still, I like the idea.

I don't think that'll be a big problem. Also a bid has to be at least 5% higher than the previous bid. (Higher percentage means shorter auction-thread, more aggressive bidding.)
Also, if you don't get the highest bid, you don't need to pay. Means you have more credits later.
Also I was thinking about some border-bonus. If you have the highest bid on a country that's on one of your other country's borders, you get a 10% discount.

Please keep this thread alive for me (I have to sleep).
I hope to get a clear view of what people think of this, because I'm planning to launch it if most people agree.

There's already some EarthRPing done here. These are recognizable by a tag. (for instance 'The Great Revolution [Earth II]')
I'm not really interested in the whole Earth-RP thing though. Personnaly I'm more interested in the distribution of countries.
The bigger problem is that every country will have it's own thread. (I think...) That's 192 threads. Also the biggest countries will be divided into smaller pieces. If US is sold per state (most players are American), Russia divided into at least 16 parts, you're at 250 threads already.
Solution anyone?

Still only 12 votes. That just isn't enough. You guys don't seem to see how big this is. Over 250 threads in about 3 months (top)! That's a lot. I'm not gonna launch this and THEN find out most people find it annoying or anything.

Well its a curious idea, and will take a lot more than the other Earths to get going/keep going.
To solve your 200+ threads I suggest you have one thread, but edit it with the date of the new auction, along with the listed nations up for bid. Then post a reply stating that a new bid has opened/an old one has closed. It may make the thread run into dozens of pages, but at least its all in one thread.
The hardest thing is going to be working out the credit limits for each nation. PLus how are nations going to get credits back once they've used up their initial amount?
Still as I said a curious idea, and propably will be very good if you can get this working.

You can't get it your credits back, only if you sell one of your winnings to another country or offer that country back to Earth Auction.
Because I want multiple Auctions at the same time I think it's wise to have about 2 Threads per continent. N-America, Latin-America, Russia, Europe, Asia, Africa and Oceania&Pacific. That's 14 Threads already. Plus 1 Rules and Agenda-thread and possibly a news- and troubleshooter-thread brings me to a total of 16 Threads.
It's possible...

Right now the majority likes the idea. 16 votes is not very reliable though.
Why is it nobody votes?!
