Mutations cause concern in Random Kingdom

Random Kingdom

Note: This was originally a solo story by me, but others have joined in and it has become the rumblings of a war between humans and mutated geckos. Random Kingdom will almost always play the part of the supergeckos occupying Random Kingdom.

<broadcast on TV News yesterday>
Anchor: Woah, this just in. The five escaped uncommon geckos, "Geckos R' Us", who were supposed to play in the unity event in six years, have returned, but changed. Having been found just outside the radioactive site of Confusion City, a vet checking them up noticed mutation. These geckos, renowned for their singing voices, have grown 10cm each, strengthened greatly, turned a violent purple colour, and instead of singing, they now whine and roar, with only small snippets of language in between. We'll keep you posted.

----
<broadcast earlier today>
Anchor: Geckos R' Us, the fivesome of geckos that were rescued and found to have mutated, have broken out of quarantine today. They apparently "bashed their way out" of the thick concrete walls and are heading in the direction of New Hope. Also, reports that up to 12 more uncommon geckos have also mutated have been confirmed. Is this the end of Random Kingdom?

Random Kingdom,

I saw something rather disturbing on the national news this morning! I'm of course refering to the beloved Geckos'R'Us quintet, and news of their shocking transformation! If there is anything we can do to get them back to you, or at least safe from harm, we'd gladly help.

OOC: I did this when I was bored at school. Now I kinda regret it, but, well, the only way is onwards, and there is no turning back...

IC:
A scientist experimenting with a mutated gecko, now dead, discovered that the process isn't over and they are getting more developed every minute. He also conducted some brain tests and found out that the undeveloped gecko had way over the average IQ of a human. Then the gecko's DNA changed once more and the now red supergecko broke free of its restraints, picked up the scientist, boomed "The day of the geckos has come. You have been warned.", and hit his head so hard that his neck snapped. The mutation then threw the bloody heap away and crashed out of the lab, as agast technicians watched behind a glass screen. Could this have been caused by the radiation in Confusion City? Or has something evil been awakened? And most importantly, could these supergeckos pose a threat to Random Kingdom?

The mutated geckos are spreading throughout Random Kingdom, and any gecko within a 5-foot radius of one also becomes radiated and mutates. So far we've lost 124 geckos to radiation, and the ones mutated are still changing. They have grown a strong skeleton and walk on hinds, and are beginning to resemble humans in their shape and form. To make matters worse, some have broken into institutions and are using the stored chemicals to further mutate. They have assembled under a leader, a jet-black supergecko that towers 1.5m and has a red crest that falls back like hair to his legs, and are attacking the capital in waves. Also, the stored radiation from the supergeckos is leaking into the ground and rendering it unusable. Some are using this to barricade humans in their houses.

The jet-black gecko and two of his red-gecko bodyguards forced their way onto TV today:

"I speak for all of the uncommon geckos in Random Kingdom, who have been used and manipulated by humans ALL OUR LIVES. Now is the time of our liberation. Humans in RK, either escape while you can or live in the misery that we shared. We are far more intelligent for your kind. I am the UberGecko, master of all uncommon gecko in Random Kingdom, and I have spoken."

(bodyguards cheer)

"Remember, your pitiful government is piddling nothing compared to the geckos' supreme leadership. Resistence is futile."

I am afraid that the process that is changing them is irreversible. And that the UberGecko is the one named "Fluffy".

Sure - if you can get hold of one to extract it from. Of course, because they have the strength to break solid concrete, it won't be easy :p

Continuation...

The geckos have now reached the cap of their mutation and have changed dramatically. The UberGecko hasn't changed much except it has grown taller and stronger. The normal supergeckos, however, have split into several classes. The "guardian" supergeckos are red and have impressive muscular power, but are less intelligent. The "worker" supergeckos are standard fare, and are a venomous green. The "thinker" supergeckos are weak yet intelligent, and are flourescent yellow. By now there are over 350 known supergeckos, and any weapons we fire on them deflect or break. It is feared that more radiation will force them to continue mutilating, so sites handling radioactive materials (i.e. X-rays) have been shut down. Another trait they have gained over the past few weeks is the ability to consume and convert electrical energy - discovered when a worker supergecko drained the entire power grid of the city of Bayview by sucking on a loose wire. Also, when they have enough energy converted, they begin to multiply. Soon there will be too many supergeckos to fight back.

OOC: Yaawn... Another post by Random Kingdom, in a small amount of time. Ah well, I'm impatient, so let's get the next part of the saga over and done with... (the way I'm going, it'll be finished in a day... Let me know if I'm going too fast.)

This section is going to be long...

-----
The supergeckos have reached New Hope - something we hadn't anticipated. In 3 hours of their arrival the entire city's power line is down, and as the region of The Golden Hills slides into night the mutations make their attack. The guardians split and walk into the houses of the humans. As the humans cower they slip in, inject a potent sedative into their bodies (the humans didn't know about what secrets laid underneath the scales of the geckos) and carry them off into the night. Their agility unmatched and their intelligence supreme, removing the humans from the capital by force will be an easy task.

One of the people kidnapped was senator Andi Senova. He woke up to find himself in a police cell, crammed in with 20 others who were still feeling the after-affects of the sedative.
A black supergecko, the UberGecko, is staring at them out of red, narrow slits for eyes.
He speaks slowly, "Good morning, humans. I suppose you wonder why you've been dragged here. It so happens that your city is being invaded by our superior cause, and that your presence there would affect our plans. So you have been forcibly removed. In as little as 24 hours the drug will kill you. So have a terribly unpleasant day." And with that he spun round and walked into a door on the other side of the long corridor. Andi sighed, and wondered to himself if he let the country down, when he voted against eliminating the geckos when they were in the early stages of mutation.

Back in New Hope, the central district of Little Mercy had been completely emptied of humans. It was here where the geckos made their lair, and where they multiplied, in the house that once belonged to Andi and his family.

I'll try to rp, as best as I can....but I do have a suprise in store, one that my past nation of Nodea Rudav kept secret for a long, long time...

IC:

A lone V-22 Osprey flew slowly over Random Kingdom, one man stood in its cargo Bay. As unusual as this op was, this one man would be able to take care of these wannabe lizards...oh he would. Many a day in Anagonia had this mans people slipped up, but gracefully, just as in Nodea Rudav, they hid it. Anagonia's leader, although unknowing, had this special ability too...and only this one man would know if he would find out.

Sighing as the cold, crips air came past the Osprey, the Man, a Lieutenant Shark, waved a hand to the pilot, whom responded as the Osprey lowered over a building. About twenty feet above the ground, Lieutenant Shark jumped, on top of the Prision. Oh how he yerned for this day....soon he would see if these gecko's were worthy of living at all..

The UberGecko stood on top of the prison, facing the lieutenant.
"So, our little plan worked," boomed the deep, slow voice of the king of the supergeckos, "to gain enough victims to show the world that the geckos are supreme. Well, you will have the honour of the first human slain by your superiors to die in combat. Bring it on, feeble man. Show the lord of all geckos how pathetic your species really is."
And so they began a fight that would decide the fate of the geckos. Meanwhile, below, the drugged humans were beginning to die. Soon, if the geckos were not eradicated, this would happen to all in Random Kingdom. The lieutenant armed with a gun that had never before failed him - the lizard armed with a drug that could kill 30 elephants in one injection. Which one shall prevail?

He pucnhed the gecko in the stomic easily, then jumped back as the super gecko tried to bite him. Suddenly a roar came from the lieutenant, the what sonded like shreded clothes. A dark reptilian figure stood before the Super Gecko, a slight hiss from the unknown being.

"You dare to claim supremecy?! Porve your worth, pathetic creature...for I am Komodren, and I am strong!"

He came into the moon-light, looking like a 6'8" tall Komodo Dragon with humanoid body, arms, legs, and at least a good lengthable tail.

The UberGecko was taken aback as the vast figure of the dragon Komodren, but remained cool, and without talking pryed an exposed wire out of a small electrical box on the roof, and chewed it. (OOC note: This prison is in a still-powered area of RK) 10,000 volts charged through the lizard, forcing the gecko to suddenly become enshrouded in yellow gas. When the mists shifted, the gecko had multiplied into two. However, the UberGecko had totally drained the power supply, so no more multiplication could be done.

STOP PRESS!!!

Random Kingdom has been officially taken over by the geckoid forces of UberGecko, and is being assimilated as we speak. All aspects of this nation are being changed.
Random Kingdom
01-12-2004, 14:49
The Random Kingdom is now Geckoid territory, and has been almost fully taken over. However, resistance has caused a plot of land in the north to remain human, which has been named Free Random Kingdom. The Occupied Random Kingdom in the south has been protected with radiation leakage to stop any other lifeforms from surviving there. Middle Random Kingdom in the centre-north of the nation is populated by rebel geckoids, who are discussing plans to work with the humans to take back over RK. The rebel's leader is a geckoid called Cipher, a former worker gecko that took in too much energy and mutated to be the same level as UberGecko. It is, however, a brilliant white colour with a small yellow crest. An untapped power source in the empty centre-south has been located with enough energy to send one of the leader geckoids into the so-called "final mutation". In other news, the multiple of UberGecko was killed when it overloaded itself with radioactivity, overshot the final mutation, and mutated into something that could not live. Human scientists are working together with rebel geckoids to find out if they can use the same mutation that created the other geckoids to wipe them out.

These are the stages of geckoid mutation, in order:

Normal uncommon gecko
Division 1 (purple) geckoid
- At this stage the gecko becomes longer, starts to whine and snarl, and turns a violent shade of purple. These are sometimes called primitive geckoids.
Division 2 (red) geckoid
- At this stage the gecko turns red, re-develops language, becomes more intelligent than the average human, and begins to walk on 2 legs. These are also known as upright geckoids.
Division 3 (worker) geckoid
- This stage is similar to division 2, but here the gecko developes a fatal toxin inside its body, which can be squirted out of the hollow teeth.
Divisions 4a and 4b (thinker and guardian) geckoid
- Here the gecko either turns into a "thinker" - a weak geckoid with high IQ, or a "guardian" - a strong, stupid geckoid that follows all orders.
Division 5 (uber) geckoid
- This is the stage shared by UberGecko and Cipher - a strong and intelligent geckoid that is supreme over all lesser divisions.
Division 6 (final mutation) geckoid
- This is the unknown stage in mutation that UberGecko and Cipher both desire.
Division 7 (sudden death) geckoid
- This is when so much energy is collected by a geckoid that it destroys itself.

The rebels had a plan. The humans would try to find out where the electicity from the untapped powerplant ran to (it would most certainly land in their control zone) and use the other end of the wire to power Cipher. Then they would unify together with the rebel geckoids under Cipher and eliminate UberGecko, and possibly his followers. Then the remaining geckoids would be free to establish their own part of Random Kingdom, under their own branch of government. And then the problem would be solved for both humans and geckoids. The plan was to store as much electrical energy from the source and radioactivity from Confusion City, and use it to overmutate the UberGecko. And then the prospect of assimilating the others would be open.
Random Kingdom

The UberGecko sat down in front of 200 of his supporters. Two thinker geckoids of which had something to share with him. They rose, bowed smartly, shouted in unison - "Heil the Rex of Geckos!" and advanced carefully to the desk of their leader.

"Your Majesty, there is news of a plan to overthrow our race by the humans and cowards," said the first, meekly.

"And what is the plan of which you speak?" boomed their master in the familiar, slow, majestic voice of the king of geckoids.

"They plan to eliminate you, my liege, and we believe they may succeed" replied the second reluctantly, knowing that its time on Earth was up.

And with that the King of Geckoids flew into a rage like none seen before, and when he finally calmed down he stood, towering over the two worried thinkers like the Berlin Wall to the communists.

"Now that you have... rather pathetically in fact... informed me of this so-called... plan and of my demise, which will NOT happen, the end of YOUR life is NIGH!" yelled their arrogant leader, throwing his voice around like a hammer at the olympics, and then they knew that they would be punished.

The UberGecko only had to concentrate on the two, and immediately they set alight, the smell of burnt carcass wafting around the lair.

"Need I remind YOU that I am INVINCIBLE?" continued the UberGecko in the same voice. Everyone shook their head automatically; they knew if they didn't the next corpses would be theirs. But the king of geckoids knew secretly that the two were right - but he had to protect his reputation at all costs, else more of them would become rebels.

The UberGecko travelled to the prison where he had met Komodren, and pleaded for its help.

OOC: Ah Slaytanicca, now I understand your comment on Knightmare. Funny that, because near the start I said something on the lines of "The only way is onward, there is no turning back.". And if the UberGecko wins the only words on my lips shall be, "Oooh, nasty."

"Confusion Airport, this is Slaytaniccan transport 'Windwraith' requesting landing."

The plane had been making the request for fifteen minutes, and they were now almost at the port. Perhaps an EMP had caused them to lose communications? It seemed doubtful, but what was the alternative?

Radar was picked up by the passive systems on the plane. At least, then the possibility of a total electronic holocaust had been removed.

"Shit."

"What? Oh.. the tower? Yeah, still there alright.."

"How do we know they aren't SAMs?" The pilot paused, staring at the screen, clearly upset. "Fuck this, lads. I'm turning round. Let's see if we can't find somewhere else to land."

The soldiers in back knew he wasn't joking, and knuckles all around the converted cargo bay turned white. He'd landed on a highway in Aligned Planets, and to all concerned it looked like he fancied repeating the experience.

The Komodren looked down at the UberGecko, his red eyes gleaming in the moon-lit night. His claws tapped the top of the building, a maine of some kind majestically waved with the cold, brisk wind. A grin on the face of the Komodren as the UberGecko finished his plea.

"I will help you, but first you will know my name." A sudden pause, then he spoke up, "I am Nokomis Reign, grand-father of Drakomis Reign of Anagonia, father of Alexander Reign whom once led Nodea Rudav. I come here to assist you, for I have seen that your soul came into existance without your consent." A sudden deepening in voice, tail swinging irregularly as a claw came to scratch around a device hanging on the neck of the Komodren, then lowered. "But know this, youngling! Even so that your life came to be with no regard to your future, I will enjoy your BLOOD on my TEETH if I see you becoming a tyrant!" A slight raroing hiss, "I am a warrior, and have fought a mighty Tyrant, and shall not fight another! Do not mistake me for a fool when I know you seek vengence!"

A calming of his breath, and voice, then he turned around....a minute later turning back. "Yesssss.....I will help you youngling, so long as you learn from me."

"Bow before your superiors, weaklings, bow and grovel. My armies of guardians are heading up north, and in a few days they will be at your gates. I am learning from the mighty Komodren, Nokomis Reign, and soon we will take over this whole nation. Then we can set out to make our claims to the four corners of this human-infested planet," came the unmistakeable tones of the tyrant.

"Under Komodren, you are wasting your time," replied the Cipher, "the time you are wasting 'learning' is time that we can use to find the last power source in RK."

"No, you are all wrong! Nokomis isn't wasting my time, he is spending it wisely! You will never learn!" shouted the king of geckoids.

The screen showing UberGecko warped, flickered and blinked for a few seconds, then the vertical hold failed and the picture started flying up, and at one point the whole thing was lost in snow, and when the picture was restored UberGecko had gone. The monitor was turned off.

"All of this because of Alexaander's ICBMs," groaned a human from the seated 200.

"Shame that the geckos didn't mutate into nuclear missiles," joked another.

"Shut up, Rick, the monitor is being turned back on!" groaned another. The monitor was now displaying a map of Random Kingdom. The south was shaded in red, the north in green, and in the grey centre was a dot.

"The power source!" exclaimed a rebel geckoid.
A black line was protruding from the dot. It was heading north. It veered to the left, then to the right, then back to left, and it hit a white dot in the green zone.

"The wires lead to this very building!" shouted another.
The map changed into a 3d plan of the city hall they were crammed in. The black line ran into the back and went down below ground, hitting the first basement, then another, and then...

"It leads below the building!" said the Cipher, amazed. They had found the wire; the only problem was that it was deep underground - too deep to access easily. The monitor switched off again.

In the Legacy Office, at the back of the building, a council of 5 geckoids and 5 humans assembled. Plans of the city hall from back when it was created were passed round. A human engineer pointed something out.

"Look! The level the wire is on is accessible by a small staircase from this room!"

The council looked around the office, but no staircase was found.
"It must be under the carpet!" proclaimed a human scientist.

On the monitor, was a 3d plan of the rebel base. A black line was running down the back, into a small chamber at the bottom. A tunnel led from the chamber to the edge of the screen. A train was running between it.

"Good place to hide the power source, Dravon," praised the UberGecko. "Once they find it, the train from here will have left, with the final mutation of moi on board."

"It took a long time to construct the tunnel," replied Dravon, "even longer to upload the maps and all from the computers onto their mainframes."

"You WHAT???" shouted his master, "Now that they have the maps, the real maps, they will find it, and we'll be left without the source!"

"I thought they were fake maps," stated Dravon.

"Bad move, Dravon, bad move." said the UberGecko slowly and venomously, and turned to face the worker. Immediately Dravon started to burn, and the putrid smell flooded the chamber.

"Now how will I take over this kingdom?" the king of geckoids asked of himself. Immediately he knew what to do. He went to meet with Nokomis.

"So, you want my help with your mistake," slowly asked Nokomis intently, "and you say your 'pathetic' followers allowed this mistake to happen, hmm?"

Nokomis nodded slowly in the darkness, he had over-heard the plans, and he was trying to train this new entity into being a good soul. However, it seemed that he was scared from the birth of his existance, doomed to follow the mistakes of his creators...a long sigh from the Komodren. A pity really, he liked this creature...then an idea popped into his head...

Maybe, just maybe, he could turn this Gecko around...

"Your destiny has already been written, youngling. You are doomed to the scarred soul of a tortured being." A slight exhale, "But I can perhaps help you. In the dark, moments after the UberGecko had kicked the dirt in the eyes of the Komodren, Nokomis thought that perhaps it was HE whom thought wrong. 424 Years on the Earth, all the time fighting battles, always wanting to step away from the hard ones....especially the Great Battle that he won for his people. Perhaps, thought Nokomis as he sighed, it is time I turn around. Suddenly, a swift motion and the Komodren was Gone.

Minutes later he jumped from out of a dark spot, having spotted the UberGecko. He stood erect, as if to attack the UberGecko as a snarl appeared and eyes turning bright red. But, immedietly his posture went calm, the brightness in his red eyes faded, and he spoke in a soft voice that the UberGecko would have never of heard of him before.

"I will help you, youngling. Forgive me, if you can, for trying to lead you wrong." A slight gargling sigh, "I submit to your path, and will assist in any way."

OOC: Between the first and second part of RK's last post, the UberGecko transparently moved from the lair of the Komodren and a train heading for the rebel base. Oh well. Should have mentioned that. I'll place the second part of the last post -after- this post.

IC: The UberGecko turned to face the Komodren. "OK, I shall accept. Soon, this entire kingdom, not just a majority of it, shall fall under control of the geckoids. Excuse me, but I have a train to catch."

And with that he was gone.

OOC: Damnit, stupid Internet Exploiter! I'll have to write this again.

IC: Later, in the Legacy Office...

The rebels had uncovered a staircase. It was in the exact position the plans suggested it would be. Now they needed to get the wire.

"Gomos, retrieve it for me, please," asked the Cipher.
Gomos, a burly guardian geckoid, replied with a quiet "Yes, sir," and descended slowly. He returned with a connected wire."
"Try this, sir." he enticed.
The Cipher did just that, but nothing happened.
"Must not be switched on. Gomos, check it for me, please."
The geckoid descended again. The distinct rumble of a train was heard. Quiet mumbling was also heard, in the regal tones of the UberGecko.

"The UberGecko!" shouted a muffled Gomos from below. Cipher and everyone else in the office rushed down the narrow staircase. In the chamber below, Gomos was lying unconscious on the floor, a triumphant UberGecko standing with one foot on the body.

"It seems that once again the superior faction has won," sneered the geckoid, holding a piece of wire, a switch nearby turned ON. He chewed it and began to mutate.

"It's over," said the Cipher mournfully.
Suddenly a human from the crowd had an idea. He ran to a box on the wall and said, "Hey Uber! How would you like more voltage?"
He flipped open the box and turned a dial, from "250V" to "OVERLOAD". The mutation sped up.

"No! The mutation is going too fast now, I'll overshoot the final mutation. Curse you, humans! CURSE YOU!!!"

In a few seconds the UberGecko fell to the ground, imploded. The wire was still sparking.

"Somebody, do something! If electricity keeps going through that soon enough the building's going to blow!"

"I shall drain it," said the Cipher calmly. He bit the end of the wire. "Who knows, if it cuts out at the right time I might get final mutation!"

It was over in a matter of minutes. The Cipher released the wire, but did not die. It had done it. It had received optimum energy to mutate it into the final stages.

Red eyes gleamed brightly as a growl could be heard in the back-round of where the Rebel Gecko Cipher had triumphed. Nokomis slowly walked out from an entrence way, he had gotten here too late. A gaze at the humans and geckos, then at the remains of the UberGecko could tell everyone he was quite dissappointed. A hiss emitted from his reptilian snout as he looked at Cipher, a dark-blu eye-slit came into view inside the bright red of his eyes. Perhaps this Komodren was angry, or perhaps something else.

"So I see the UberGecko's destiny has befallen him-" a snarl appearing "-even when I tried to help him."

A constant gaze at the new Gecko Leader Cipher came from the Komodren, whom was now fully in everyones sight.

The rule of Random Kingdom has been passed back down to the humans, and elections are being planned. A small pocket of Northern Random Kingdom is under geckoid rule and elections there will also be planned.

OOC: From now on, in everyday life, the geckoids and their government will not be mentioned. That way, it's easier.
