SR

In a shocking new move today, SR has been placed on high alert, and SR Military forces have begun new defence operations all over the nation. This comes only three months after the completion of re-activation of SR defence systems, and such an event has not yet been seen since the SR Bristle Missile Crisis. SR Forces are settling around the heavily fortified coastline, waiting for something. Along with this startling statement comes the declassification of Project Utopia. The exact details are not yet known, but SR has said that a proportion of the SR population, along with supplies and weapons, have been moved deep into Area Theta. Area Theta is restricted land occupied by the SR Military, and after the coastline is the next most heavily defended location in SR. Project Utopia has been questioned by conspiracy theorists:
"It's quite obvious they're preparing for some kind of war, and they expect to be hit first!" claims a worried citizen. "Just look at that AA defence system over there! I haven't seen SR Troopers around there except to repair it and ensure it works! And my neighbour got one of those Project Utopia letters, said it was classified, something about nuclear blah blah blah..."
The re-activation and re-fortification of SR also included the NBC WMD arsnel of SR. The Launch Control rooms have not been on active standby since the Missile Crisis. It is known that SR have staffed the silos around the clock, though no target has been secified. The silos, deep within Area Theta, are off limits to reporters and the general public.
The SR Cabinet of Advisors had little to say about the war. The Defence Minister was seen speaking on behalf of the Commandant, who is currently in Osirus discussing weapondry.
"The citizens of SR should be concerned. There is indeed a troubling incident starting, and it's drawing nearer. The SR forces are well and truly on standby, and we're prepared to retaliate to any actions of any nation, whoever they may be. SR citizens need to listen for the air raid siren, and when they do, arm themselves and move into their bomb shelters, to a city bunker, or listen to the direction of SR Troopers. All citizens must work together."
"Sir, Casey Brooks from SRNN. Exactly why are the nukes armed?"
"We perfer to call them WMDs, not 'nukes', heh. In any case, they're purely for protection."
"Sir, another question, is the enemy Death of Life?"
"The Defence ministery says it is not Death of Life."
"Sir, Dan Warne for SR51. Is the enemy Lapse?"
"...no comment on that one."
"Sir! Sir!"
"I'm sorry that's all we have time for. This press confrenence is ajourned..."
On an aircraft bound for Area Theta...
Commandant Soldant Hawkins silently watched his army below him. Training. Watching. Waiting.
"Sir... it's Lapse, isn't it?"
Hawkins looked at the advisor.
"Yes my friend, it is. This is indeed the final frontier."
"The odds sir, what are they?"
"Well son, they're extremely uncertain. It's all bets off until Lapse's allies get into it. Lapse himself has an excellent Navy, but his ground forces lack. SR has an excellent ground force, but lack a good navy. His allies we don't know much about, except they most likely have sizeable space fleets."
"Which way do you think they'll attack? Sir?"
"Forget the sir stuff for now. Lapse will him from the air. It's obvious. He'll hit from space, but luckily we prepared for that. Our allies have space tech as well. Thankfully Auman provided us with a very small space fleet for SR to use a while back, but this will be their first fight, and it's too small for defence. Osirus has a space fleet, albiet not as good as the others... but it might do until Auman can arrive."
"Are there any other ways for them to hit?"
"Just via sea. We rely on Terra for that defence. But it seems quite obvious they'll hit from the air."
The aircraft passed over Project Utopia. The underground complex wasn't a testing ground to see how people could survive in there against a nuclear blast. No, it wasn't like that. They knew people could survive in there; that's what they build it for. SR figured long ago that this campaign, in perparation since the Pacific War, Lapse would hit from space. SR prepared Project Utopia in the event of this. After a war, it'd kickstart SR civilization again. Their last superweapon, known as "Retribution", would remove everything from SR. It'd be like a clean slate. It'd remove whatever force was on SR, friendly or enemy. And they'd start again. Hopefully. Maybe not on SR, but they'd live. Unless something went wrong.
"It's a worry, isn't it?"
Soldant looked back at his advisor.
"Yeah... it is. Well, it could be, depending on how the war goes from now onward. Well, at least they might survive."
"Aren't you going with them?"
"No, we're safe at Point Black. I'll fight with the Troopers, if it means keeping them away from Utopia. Yep... with the Troopers."
They landed at Point Black, deep in Area Theta. It was the underground SR command complex, constructed by Terra ages ago. They walked inside, and the advisor stood behind his seat in the meeting room. The other advisors, including the Defence Minister, looked at the Commandant.
Hawkins looked around at them all.
"Gentlemen," he began. "Code foxtrot."
