Secret IC:

Oberuchov held the tape in his hand.

"I'm surprised he actually went through with this. He's sick, he needs the rest."

The mail boy shrugged. "Minister Karpov tried to stop him, but he insisted."

"Thank you. Send him my best wishes. I must go now."

The general moved toward the stand.

All he could say was, "Men, we have trained hard. It's time."

[video begins; FSM flag is shown, announcer says]President N. Teslakov,

"Comrades! The time draws near! You have been preparing for the moment of your life!"

He coughs.

"You, the children of the motherland, are the ones who have been chosen. You will bear the burden of unseating the evil, from his throne. You men, have the unique priveledge of serving in the FSM armed forces. You, have a great power. A power that can destroy planets. A power that can bring a mighty emperor to his knees." He pauses.

He continues, in a lighter voice: "The power, to root out greed, masochism; the power to bring good to the world.

You are called upon, comrades, to not only protect the motherland, but to ensure the safety of the world. Fight not only for your sons, your brothers, your fathers and your uncles, but fight, for the sons, brothers and fathers of the entire planet!

It is without question, that the nation of Doomingsland, is a threat. A nation that has fought with us before. A nation with a poor diplomatic track record, turning down treaty after treaty, and when they do accept a treaty, they break them. We cannot stand for it. Fight, comrades. Never lose hope. When you run out of ammo, draw your blade! When your petrol and supplies has expired, hunker down, continue firing, never give up. When you give up, it is your soul that will expire. Your essence. The soul of a soldier never gives up. Together, you can defeat anyone.

You know, comrades, the enemy is getting stronger. The souls of the lost, continuosly crossing the channel, ferried across Styx day by day. Countless evils have been performed by the demagogue. You are now asked to punish the evildoers and bring righteousness back to the land! Shake the foundation of Hades, bring the light to the dark."

He sheds a tear.

" But there is one thing I ask of all of you. Come back alive. The fight is for the motherland, yes. But, the motherland will never forsake you. You must return, all men accounted for. But for those, who may not return to the parades of victory, I will say this to you, before it is too late: Dulce et decorum est pro patria mori. I hope that you may discover the truth behind the phrase. That is all."

OOC2: Beginning of Military action

IC:

The briefing begins.

"I am instructed to brief the mission. Codename: Operation Orpheus. Intelligence reports a massive convoy of ships headed for the C A D continent. Based on the type of ships used, we have determined that it is a small naval force escorting reinforcements.

Our mission is to prevent these ships from reaching the C A D. Operation Orpheus will consist mostly of foreign ships; most of our attack force is standing by in the Pacific. Now, our group will be stationed in the Timor and Arafura seas. There isn't too much ground to cover, as there are few landable ports for the enemy to dock at.

Remember! This is strictly a quarantine! Do not open fire unless the enemy ships are clearly attempting to bypass, or you are fired upon first. Ask questions first, shoot later. The goal is to stop weapons flow.

Briefing is adjourned."

Doom Citadel, Doomingsland

The emperor sat upon his throne in his ceremonial armor. He knew of the storm brewing. He was determined to stop it. Assembled before them were his top commanders.

"Brothers, you know of what comes. The men know what comes. The people know what comes," he said motioning out the window toward a huge crowd of armed civilians burning FSM and Japanese Antarctican flags. "It is imperative these heretics be crushed. For the sake of the empire."

"For the sake of the empire." repeated the men in unison. The emperor rose from his throne.

"My brothers! Long have the tryanical nations of Former Soviet Mafia, Japanese Antarctica, and the Voltarum been a thorne in the sides of the empire. I say LET THEM COME!"

There was immense cheering amongst the men assembled.

So it begins...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Fort Helldawg, Main Headquarters of the Doom Legion

The emperor's next stop was to his personal army, the Doom Legion. These were some of the toughest men in existance. They, like every other good Doomingslandian, were raised from birth to be the perfect soldiers. Unlike normal Doomingslandians, that was all they ever did, and so, they were naturaly very good at what they did. The men were incapable of emotion, all thanks to a bit of genetic engineering.

There were 20,000 of them assembled in an underground chamber, along with vehicles. Before them stood their 'father', the emperor.

"Men! Now is the time for glory! Soon, we shall fight the enemies we have trained all of our lives to crush! A large fleet of Soviet, Japanese, and Voltarum ships have anchored outside of CAD waters. You will be our first line of defence when they land. IF they land, don't underestimate our airforce.

You shall be the legion that first enters in open combat with the Heretics. You will be bearing the burden of annihilating an enemy that dares violate our lands. You WILL succeed, or we will all die with glory!"

The Legionaries raised their rifles and cheered. It was all niceties. They were all veterans. They were no strangers to war, unlike the fresh meat that would be coming ashore for them. They knew of the horrors, yet fealt no fear. They knew of the death, but fealt no sorrow. They knew of the pain, yet fealt none. They, like the rest of their countrymen, would fight to the bitter end. No surrender to the heretics.

The huge convoy struggled to maintain formation as it fought through heavy swells and 50 mph winds ripping across the open ocean. Although now almost 2/3 of the way to CAD the convoy was making slow progress as the huge number of civillian ships took their toll on the voyage. Frequent breakdowns and mis-communications had tacked on a few days to an already long trip.

The defenders remained ever vigilent, continuing to launch aircraft, even in these treacherous conditions. The rolling flight decks of the carriers brought out the best in ever pilot, but nevertheless their had been some close calls, but nothing major yet. The subs screens and radar pickets contuined to hold the perimeter against any eneymy foolish enough to attack.

Although we have a signifigant naval force escorting our convoy we require more support to bring it in safely. The majority of ships are unarmed merchants and unable to defend themselves, any help would be appreciated.

Doom AFB, Doomingsland

A large formation of Longsword bombers, over 50, lifted off, and headed for international waters, escorted by over 200 fighters. Loaded aboard the bombers were anti-shipping missiles, while the fighters were simply equiped to maintain air superiority.

These were simply a deterent; many more awaited the command to strike.

The lead bomber, callsign Hammer One, plotted his course,

This is Hammer One, we are proceeded to designated altitude and setting course for Target Tango One, over.

A nearby E767 answered,

Affirmative, Hammer One, do not engage unless threatened, over.

The lead escort fighter, Mobius One, broke into the conversation,

This is Mobius One, we will take care of the package, over.

Roger, Mobius One, you are ordered to defend the bombers, shoot down any confirmed hostile aircraft, over.

The aircraft soared on to the target at mach 3, their afterburners lighting up the night sky.

The Merchant Guilds

IC:

What originally had been the 91st Guild Legion, but was now part of the Guild Mercenary Forces on Earth, which had been left to their own devices to protect RWC allies and take non-associated contracts, was stationed within Doomingsland at a huge purpose-built military complex in the North of the country due to the RWC Base Exchange programme. It had a total of 50,000 troops and was now being supplied by former Guild Doombringers, flying in supplies in waves for the coming storm. Z'ha'dum had even given them funding for this operation due to it's defensive RWC nature. Men and women stood in serried ranks on the parade ground replesent in their Black uniforms bearing the 91st's Isignia of the Silver Hawk and the name of their regiment on their cuff, their GIK-92's ready and polished for war.

War Commodore Criticus Zabic had flown via Swirl Transport Helicopter fresh from Zarbian and Intelligent Neighbourian Africa, where he had been conducting the deployment of the Guild Armoured forces in that area. He walked up onto the podium an old man by most accounts, he was in his 40's and had been a staff officer since he had lost most of his chest in the troubles ending the time of isolation. He wore the insignia of the Infamous Bridgeburners (the 1st) Legion, now gone to the stars, with some of their comrades.

He addressed the assembled troops;

'Men and Women of the Guilds, Children of Z'ha'dum, our Shadowlord has ordered us in the spirit of the RWC to protect this country of Doomingsland from invasion and military enforcements. Know this country has stood beside us more than once and has served as well as allies, if you should die in the coming storm know this. Kellevend himself will look kindly upon you, he admires you all for your bravery for him and our Shadowlord. Thus, you will all be granted a place in the Eternal Feasting, Pleasure and Killing Vaults and Halls of Shadow.' he barked.

A rousing cheer eminated from the assembled troops. Criticus grinned, that wide predatorial grin so common among Guilders.

'You are ordered that prisoners taken are to be your own. Z'ha'dum nor I shall take them from you, so their is opportunity for you all to become rich and fat in your old age. Now go fight and die with honour..!'

This recieved an even louder cheer, and was followed by a round of low chatter about the prospects.

Criticus signalled and the Strike Commanders and Leaders began to march the troops back towards barrack blocks and for patrols etc. He had already linked to the Doomingslandian Commanders asking for their assignment in the current conflict, they had yet to tell him but he hoped the Guild forces would be in the van-guard, the troops thrived on death and pain unlike most humans they were bred to it. It was their natural environment, Criticus smiled it was time to make the enemies of the Guilds pay for their foolishness.

Sitting on his the golden throne, watching the swirling snowflakes, Emporer Palpatine the 4th, the boy Emporer read the report of an attack upon his allie. His face showed no emotion at the attack, indeed he never showed any emotion and how it wqas unclear weather he was happy or sad at the news.

Prince Matt stood at attention at the side of the throne, in his role as his emporers aide. He waited until the Emporer had finished reading and then took out a recorder so he could get the Emporers orders down.

"Send out the 4th legion," The Emporers voice was as hard as stone, "And the 8th, along with the 346th ASS and the 567th Aust Legion. Two squads of death squad shall occumpney them and a squad of the royal guard." MAtt felt a shiver run down his spine, 40 thousand men, more, commited to the battle and yet the Emporer showed no empotion. "1 wing and 1 fleet as well. They are to be ready as soon as possable. is William back yet?"

The first fliker of empotion showed on the Emporers face as he mentioned his twin brother. William had only norrowly escaped death several hours before at the hands of Kingist rebles, "yes, my Emporer, He is" Matt replied.

"He shall command the force, and with him his legion shall go," William had one of the finist legions in the army, one of the youngest but the finest too, The King Slayers.

"Yes my Emporer." Matt turned heel and exited,

R.L.: Men, this is not just another war, this a fight for all we hold dear in this world. The forces of Former Soviet Mafia and Japanese Antarctica are converging on Doomingsland and we will be caught in the crossfire. They will probably try to go around. They know not the strength of the Dominion. They shall mock us, call us an insignificant island. The fools! They will taunt the hornet's nest, unaware that the swarms are already upon them. They may not try a landing on our shores, yet they will die anyway! We make sure they never see the CAD coast! We will decimate their landing craft; we will starnd them on enemy soil! We pursue the arrogant pigs to the shores of Doomingsland AND WE WILL GIVE THEM HELL!

At this the entire island erupted in cheers and warcries as three Howitzers fired a twenty-one gun salute towards the ocean and civilians lined up at armories and recruiutment centers for the opportunity to serve their nation. The nation went to DEFCON 2 and all defenses were brought online and fighters scarmbled. The entire nation was locked down and those not fighting flocked to the predetermined underground shelters.

The huge convoy began its final approach into the Continent of CAD. After a harrowing month-long journey from Western Europe the intrepid crews of the fleet were mere hundreds of miles from their final objective. On board the Flagship of the lead fleet, The Benelux an Upgraded Iowa class battleship, High Admiral Peter Von Smoot was receiving a status report from his operations officer,

"...and so far no enemy contacts on radar but we have picked up multiple flights of Longsword bombers flying from CAD, presumably against enemy fleets. We have received word from the intel guys and the recon center that possible enemy fleets have been imaged near out postion, but we should be well inside the CAD defense network before they reach us."

"Good, good, have we begun to split the fleet into its landing components."

"Yes sir, the logistics pukes are running that one sir, all 6 convoy units have been assigned ports in Doomingsland. After they have docked safely I assume you'll have us move out the Ruthless Salughter and provide an advance guard."

"Precisely," replied the wisened Admiral. He turned and looked out his rear porthole. The giant line of ships stretched to the horizon and beyond.

The fleet was now only 1 day away from the safety of the Continent.

Three fleets left harbor, and headed to assist the Wirrawayen fleet. They would act as an escorting force to ward off any attacking vessels and aircraft. Aboard the bridge of the DLS Athens, a Greco class aircraft carrier, Admiral James Forest looked over intel reports,

"Well, sir, enemy fleets seem to be attempting a quarantine, according to sat photos," said a young ensign. He didn't realize at the time, but he was reffering to the Japanese, Voltarum, and Soviets as 'enemies', while war hadn't officialy broken out. "Intel says to expect enemy movement toward the Wirrawayens."

"Tell me something I don't know..." grumbled the old admiral as he watched fighters shoot off of the deck of his ship. Soon they'd be in battle...

"Well, sir, they might make it into friendly waters before the bad guys can get to them, they're only a day away-"

"Which makes us only around 8 hours away from them, I know."

Since both fleets were heading right at each other, that cut the time in half, and since the Doomingslandians were moving much faster, that took another few hours off. They would be within international waters in just two hours, so the men made ready...

---On Board the HMS Vengence----
William looked at the latest photos from Austain U2 photos, on his right there where photos of enermy fleet movements, on his left pictures of Doomingsland, in the center a map of the Aust, Doomingsland and all inbetween. it was a electronic map constnbtly being updated by sataliht flybys.

The Austian forces where outlined in blue, Doomingsland in yellow and The Guilds troops in purple. And aide gave him a memo and the boy scan read it. he smilled at it, seeing it as good news that Ruthless slaughter had joined. "When's the next flyby?" He asked,

"2 minuates sir." The boys looked puzzled,

"Thats quick, the last one wasonly 2 minuates ago."

"Yes, sire. The Emporer has pulled out all our bids to aid you. He also sends this," He handed over a CD to William. William smiled knowing what it would contain and continued to scan the map, "Have the RS forces in green, and the Wirraway forces in orange." He had seen there name on another memo thrust at him.

He smiled, allies where joining the cause. "Have enermy forces in red." The screen suddenly lit up and then there where more dots on it. he tapped the screen and it enlarged zooming in on The Voltarum's fleet. "Looks like there cutting off our route in, sire."

"Will they stops us?"

"No. We have a slight lead over them."

"Good. We'll get into port and then try to stop them from getting in the way of any renforcements."

"Sire."

He tapped the screen again and now it zoomed in on the Timor Sea Group. "Looks luike there trying to stop the Wrriway convoy, we'll send our fleet to aid them after we make landfall."

"Sire."

Generic empire
30-11-2004, 23:03
Emperor Antonius reclined on his gilded throne in the bright ceremonial chamber in the Imperial palace. The sunlight danced across the tiled floors, and shone brightly from the armor of the White Guardsmen that flanked either side of the chamber. Before the Emperor stood many men, advisors, government ministers all.

Antonius rose from his throne, and slowly descended the ivory steps to the floor below. He walked towards the far end of the chamber, and the great ornamented double doors. His advisors turned to fall in line behind their lord. The doors swung open and Antonius stepped out into the hall. He turned and walked towards another pair of doors at the far end, which swung open as he reached them. Now, he stood on a great balcony, high above the square below him, where throngs of people stood waiting. Soldiers and civilians had gathered to catch a rare glimpse of the Emperor, and to hear his words. Silence fell as he began to speak.

"And so it has finally begun, the war that will decide the fate of the CAD for all eternity. They send their fleets, their foul legionaires to the shores of Doomingsland as we speak, with intent to desecrate that noble land with their presence. This, my brothers, shakes me to the core.

But I do not fear. My heart remains stout and confident, for also as we speak, our brethren from across the seas send their own forces to counter the encroaching tide of evil that threatens to consume us all. Likewise we shall send forth our armies to join them in glorious battle. Our Praetorians shall clash amid the walls of war beside our friends, before our enemies, upon the world stage, for we are a proud people; our dominions are steeped in lore of the great and valorous deeds of our soldiers. Since the beginning Generia has been unsurmountable in war, and today I say let this continue to be so.

Open the floodgates brothers, for today the Imperial Praetorians ride to battlegrounds in Doomingsland, to fulfill their vassalage to the great founder of the noble CAD! Woe betide the enemies of Generia, for Emperor Helldawg calls us to arms, and we will answer! Long live the CAD! Long live the Empire! For Generia!"

"Sir, Guild forces are awaiting orders."

"Alright. Order them to deploy fifty miles behind the beach, several unoccupied staging areas have been established. Let them know they'll be among the first mobile forces to make contact. I'm sure they'll be happy."

The bright light flashed in the gloom of the Communications Bunker in the compound, the operator a young woman in her mid 20's, repeated the message to Criticus, who stood over by the Command Cupola.

'Excellent, alert the Legion, we will move into the beach area. We will use this base as our supply and command headquarters.' he told her.

She got to work relaying the relevent instructions as did the other operators nearby.

Criticus mused he need a strategy, he had studied countless books on military strategy but none on amphibious warfare... he preceeded to walk over to the map table, it changed shape and colour to match the new co-ordinates input into it.

He signalled the Staff and Operational Officers to come over with him, he needed to be clear about what they would do.

'We will deploy our Infantry in linear form in fixed defences, have them dig trenchs and sandbag walls. Make the trenches as solid as possible, I want maximal killing zones established. Tell the Engineers to place more solid fortificiations every 100 metres, these will house the Anti-tank teams and the Star Rattle Heavy Machine guns, have them made accordingly. Also, as far is as possible I want those beaches mined preferably with a mix of Chemical & Standard Claymores and Anti-Tank mines. Also, the two artillery regiments are to spread out over the area, they are to build emplacements as best they can. Place the Sol Anti-Air Missles systems at 200 metre intervals on the trench line and around the artillery installations. They are also to zero their guns on the beaches and beyond, we want to be able to target the ships as well as the forces on the beaches. The staging locations will be our supply dump supplied by the Logistics Regiment's Moranth Halftracks from here. The Armoured Regiment shall be held as a general reserve, the Claw Regiment will be spread out between each Regiment to bolster the defence 1000 to each Infantry Regiment and we will keep the remaining 1000 here to guard this base. Also, make sure liason officers are appointed to the local Doomingslandian Airforce's in the area, we want air cover if we can get it.' the instructions were detailed but they needed to be.

The Officers nodded their approval after a few questions about supply and defence strategy and proceeded to perform the tasks to make these instructions happen.

It had been a long time coming but the lead elements of the fleet were finally within 100 miles of the Continent, although they was still out of visual range the powerful radars onboard the AEGIS class cruisers began to return images of the distant coastline. These images, however, were superceeded by the massive returns shot back by the rapidly closing Doomingslandian fleet.

On board the 3rd JSF in a flight of 5, Airman Helmut Vandersmut from the Air Hammers squadron spotted a black speck in the distance and toggled his radio,

"Sir I've got visual, 3 o'clock low. They match up with the radar returns, must be the Doomingslandians."

In response the flight leader yanked his bird hard to the right and pushed his throttle to the stops,

"Aye boys, then lets show 'em how happy we are to see them."

The 5 fighters quickly dropped to 50ft, skimming the wavetops at over mach 1.5. Huge jets of spray kicked up in the ocean behind them as they rocketed into the Doomingslandians. When they were a scant 500 yards away all 5 pulled straight up and shot over the bridge of the lead battleship, simulataneously the flight leader toggled his open frequency,

"Tallyho boys, sure its good to see you."

The 5 ships flight then turned back into their CAP pattern and searched for dry land ahead.

Inside the bridge of the Benelux Admiral Peter Von Smoot began composing a message to the commander of the Doomingslandian fleet.

To: Commander of the Doomingslandian Fleet
From: High Admiral Peter Von Smoot

Hello my friend in the Doomingslandian Navy, we truely appreciate your help in bringing us in. It has been a long a treacherous journey and we would not wish it to end badly. The rest of the convoy will pass through this area for another 4 hours so it might be wise to have your ships remain on station here while we pass through. Our intentions are to allow the transports to land in Doomingsland and unload there, although 2 Marine Expeditionary forces will land in RS to shore up defenses there. After the transports have docked our entire Naval group will array in front of RS with the rest of CAD fleets and meet this invasion force before it can do any harm to the continent.

The convoy sailed steadily onwards, closing the distance on the Doomingslandian fleets. They were still in International waters, but not for long.

Throughout the week, Imperial GC-10 'Clock' transport aircraft had been flying into the largest military airbases in Doomingsland, unloading Praetorians and supplies to aid them when the attack came. As the last plane touched down, the deployment totalled at 100,000 Imperial Praetorian footsoldiers along with assorted logistics personnel. This had been the largest strategic air deployment in Imperial history, and was a record most likely not soon to be broken.

Three additional Imperial task forces had been deployed with reinforcements including armored divisions, but were not likely to arrive in time for the first assault. The Praetorians would have to hold the fort until then.

The men were all veterans of the wars in Ukraine and Moldova, and had been placed under the command of General Mikhail Greghov, a man who had served under the renowned General Josef Ivanov in the Buchianan secession war. The Imperial military command was certain he would hold his own throughout the campaign.

There was much movement on the ground as men scurried about their duties. 30 F-22 Raptors, 30 F-15E Strike Eagles, 40 F/A-18E Super Hornets and 60 Longsword bombers lifted off from the airfield and headed towards the Artican military base located in Doomingsland. After the aircraft had gone, soldiers began loading into transports. 30 Chinook helicopters carrying 30 marines each took off and headed towards the Doomingsland base, as well as 45 Hueys(carrying 7 marines each), and 30 apaches followed. They took extra precautions to avoid going into range from enemy ships that where close to CAD waters. The convoy of aircraft arrived at the Artican embassy/military base in Doomingsland and started unloading. The troops were shown to their quaters, and all aircraft where placed in specialy made hangers to prevent airstrikes on them.(I remember the Vladimir wars where you decimated my air force.) All AA guns and defenses were put on high alert for anything.

Emperor Mathew Kellerman sat in his chair facing the map on the war room table. He knew most of the enemys forces at the moment were naval and that other CAD forces would be able to handle them. He had ordered the airforce build-up in Doomingsland so Artica would be ready when the air attacks would commence.

Imperial class battleships were placed on patrol around Artica for security reasons. More preatorians started patrolling the streets of the citys more often. Boarder security was much tighter also. F/A Super Hornets were periodicly patrolling the skys around Artica and in the Imperial City of Artica, Scorpian Tanks were being set up as defendable positions.

Analist2: Nah. Its looks to me like they're doing some kind of routine drill. The heat patterns aren't consistent with that class of ships. See? (Brings up a scematic of a ship of the aforementioned class) The main power core is located here, in the rear/center of the ship. These heat signatures are more consistent with an emergency drill. Look, the signatures are slowly moving toward the perimeter of the ship, if it was anything relating to the power source it would show up most prevalently at the core.
Analist1:Yeah thats it. you think that the military can keep them from taking control from us?

Fleet Admiral Ja'rod Kathon sat on his rather uncomfortable chair on the bridge of the V.B.S. Revolution. The screen before him displayed the deployment of the massive fleet he commanded... all heading at full steam to help in Operation Orpheus. He was glad the Voltarum's allies had finally decided to act... Kathon was frustrated at the hesitant nature the Order had taken regarding the Wirrawayan fleet. If it was up to him, it would have been destroyed long ago. He shifted in his chair as his com officer spoke.

"Admiral, the 4th Fleet confirms hourly report. All ships operational. Flight decks and anti-submarine measures fully functional."

"And the status of the enemy?" Kathon cringed at the last word. There had to be a better way to say that.

"Status unchanged. Doomingsland Force headed straight for Wirrwayan Fleet. Japanese and Mafia Fleets are in position."

"And our ETA?"

"Still too close to call. All ships are continuing at full velocity."

"Very well. continue monitoring. Contact all submarines in the 1st and 2nd Fleets.. tell them to increase their scout range."

"Aye Sir."

Kathon sighed. If his fleet did not get there in time to help quarantine the Wirawayan Fleet in time, bad things were going to happen. Chaos even. And any Voltaru hated chaos. He shifted in his chair and made a mental note to fire whoever designed it.

Criticus Zabic surveyed the defences his troops had constructed, they were generally of good quality if a little makeshift, trenches had been dug some re-enforced with anything the Guilders could lay their hands on including some steel bars stolen by a few wily Guild troopers from a builders yard. Concrete bunkers had been set up 100 yards apart along the defence lines each had two ominous looking 'Star Rattle' Heavy Machine gun muzzles sticking out of it at the beach. He could see the camoflauged 'Sol' Anti-air missile systems with their operators playing various games ranging from spin the bottle to a non-lethal version of Russian Roulette round the camp fires.

He could see troops on the beach methodically laying mines and other nasty little suprises for the enemies of the Guilders, this would still take some time. Occasionally, a Moranth Halftrack turned up from a supply depot handing out ration packs, although as usual the Guilders had begun hunting the local wildlife and taking what they could legally from the local populance.

He knew a mile or two inland lay the Guilder artillery in their sandbagged and camoflauged emplacements with huge stock piles of shells of all varieties. Small command bunkers had been dug for communications personnel and regimental commanders & staffs.

He knew there was something missing, a few seconds later it clicked and he strode off to the nearest communication station. The operator jumped up to chest salute him, he waved it off. 'I want you to patch through to 'X' (the codename for the main Guilder command station in Doomingsland) and tell them to contact the Doomingslandian Military HQ, ask them for some anti-ship missiles, which can be fired from some form of launcher. Also, ask them for permission to fire on any unidentified ship we sight, we will attempt to contact them on all Doomingslandian frequencies but if they fail to answer we will fire. Ask them whether this is fine.'

'Yes, sir!' the operator enthusiastically replied and promptly began performing this request.

Criticus mused, this would be war and only then would the true power of the Guilder troops be shown. He turned to the signals trooper and said 'I want you to broadcast this to the entire legion. Alucard Dracul has a battle phrase he tells to all Inquisitors, I want them to remeber it. It is 'Reveal in the massacre, what does not kill you makes you strong'.

The signals trooper went white at the mention of that name, but proceeded to broadcast the request without comment.

Criticus sighed, blood would be shed sooner or later and it would result in much death but it would nessacary death he was all too afraid.

Now, what we would need help with is the establishment

Admiral Mark Livincus sat at his old fashioned wood desk. On the desk were maps of the ocean, the CAD continent, forces, and Intel reports. The Admiral traced and retraced the route of the ships with his finger.

“We just might make it there in time. Lets hope we can.”

As the admiral ran simulations on a nearby computer a knock came on the door. He got up and moved over to the door awaiting the much-anticipated news. As he opened it his mood increased to see the runner between the brig and his quarters.

“Does radar have anything yet? Can we see them yet?”

“No sir. We are moving as fast as possible but the transport ships are slowing us a bit, but it’s too late so we must progress with them. However I do have good news. First and foremost, the chef is making your favorite meal.”

“I don’t care about food! I want battle.”

“You didn’t let me finish sir. We estimate that we should reach the battle just as it starts or a matter of minutes afterward. As of now the Wirrawayan fleet has yet to enter CAD waters. A Doomingsland fleet is rushing to help it and several other friendly fleets will no doubt be assisting. As of yet we the Voltarum looks as if they are moving as fast as possible to reach the convoy. If we move at full speed we may meet or beat them.”

“Are we going as fast as possible?”

“Not quite sir, the transports are slowing us down. The upgrades have been done to all but the ones here, so they don’t have the speed of the new ones.”

“We already have a military base there. Our troops will most likely not see combat. I didn’t want to bring them and now I have a reason. Send all transports back to Mozambique with 1 submarine escort and 1 battleship.”

“Sir, what if a fleet hits them?”

“As of yet there is no enemy fleet near enough to get them in time. Tell Mozambique to send out as many ships as possible to meet them.”

“Yes sir.”

With that the admiral shut his door and began to once again look over all his data.

As of now, we don't need increased defences along the beach,
as it is already extremely heavily fortified. Your men may
not notice, but the Doomingslandian defences are right
below them in bunkers.
Now, what we would need help with is the establishment
of a 3rd tier defencive line, the second was established long
ago, and is also hidden. You may construct the line 10 miles
behind the beach. Anti-ship missiles may hae difficulty fireing
from this far away, but we will provide you with 600 land
based harpoon missile batteries, along with personel to
educate your men on how to operate them.

In a small concealed base in the mountains, several Doom Legion units recieved their latest toy. Yes, another MBT.

"This is most excelent, brother, how did we procure such a weapon?" asked a sergeant and seasoned tanker to the officer occompanying the shipment of tanks.

"This was actualy an international effort, but our engineers did most of the work. This tank should be most suited for the upcoming battles."

"Yes it shall..." observed the gunner from inside the tank, admiring the new autoloader system.

"We cannot thank you enough, brother."

"Thank the Emperor, for it is his gift to you."

"What is to become of our former vehicles? It seemed we just got them."

"They are to be issued to normal units. Total conversion to the A2 on the Imperator should be complete soon."

"Good. If and when this turns into a ground war, we should be having plenty of fun."

“No, we are nearing the Wirrawayan fleet. We should make it there in time to help defend right before the Voltarum fleet comes.”

“This is excellent! How long at the most?”

“Within the day sir.”

“All right. Tell all men to ready themselves. Wake the assistance officers and tell them to report to the watchtower. Ill be up there in a little under an hour.”

After the admiral shut the door he immediately ran into the bathroom and ran the water over his shaver. He began to hum a little tune to himself as he smeared shaving cream over his face, he was happy that the fleet was finally coming to its goal.

From: High Admiral Peter Von Smoot

We would most appreciate it if your fleet were to take the vangaurd as you seem to have no transport vessels, just warships. When you are in range you can drop off your service and supply ships into the main convoy. The 1st Battlefleet will accompony you at the head of the line but the rest of the Wirrawayan fleets and the convoy will hang back until the way is cleared. If more fleets need to be committed to battle we will not hesistate to do so, thank you for your help.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

150 miles Southeast of the convoy a Prowler Electronic warfare jet was loitering in its assigned patrol area. The aircaft was odd in fact that instead of the pilot and systems operator sitting in front and behind each other they sat side by side, which incidentally helped ease the boredom of such dammed airmen who were deemed not good enough for fighters.

The crew had been on station for over an hour now, one staring at the vast expanse of open ocean while the other stared intently at his instruments, but now his focus was fading. It seemed the screen was burned into his retinas, he blinked and slowly rubbed his eyes. The suddenly his system chirped once and then again, soon the whole baord began lighting up as the telltale radio frequencies of fleet communicating were picked up by the sensitive receivers in the belly pod hanging underneath the aircraft.

The operator turned the pilot and spoke exitedly,

"Hey Schwartz I got 'em, from the frequencies it matches up with either FSM or JA fleet bands, so suckers are only 150 miles from us."

"You coordinates yet?"

"Nope, the system is still triangulating......wait, HOLY SHIT, x-band is starting to illumnate a few more minutes and were toast, pull us back, NOW."

The Prowler turned on its powerfull jamming pods and turned for the convoy as it finished charting the enemy fleet's position.

"Whew,Its done Schwartz looks like their heading right at us, this should be fun one."

"Great."

The Prowler landed on the Yorktown Class Carrier Schiphol a few hours later.

Soon the coordinates of the enemy fleet were beamed out to all vessels, including the Borman fleets. Strict radio silence was now enforced, all shipboard radars switched off, only the Hawkeye's, operating out from the position of the fleet left their on to discourage any surpruse attacks and to coordinate the strike. The largest convoy ever to set sail from Wirraway suddenly became a black hole in the ocean.

Aircraft began to launch in large numbers as a strike was prepared, the enemy wouldn't have time to react as the overwhelming force over 500 aircraft coiled back in preparation for a devastating first strike.

V.S.S. Wrath, Southeast Indian Ocean

Captain Dera Saltrow sat motionless in her chair, staring at the latest reports in her hands. Raven Group had successfully found the Wirrawayan Fleet, really it wasn't that hard given the size, but in the last hour they had cut all communications and made it harder for her group to track it at a safe distance...the last thing she needed was a rouge sub to find them...

She had taken this assignment on one condition - she would be fighting alongside her father. Selkirk had assured her that the Snarl would be involved in this little "exercise" as well. Yet here she was, about to attack the largest fleet she had ever seen, and her father's destroyer was 1000 miles away, on the other side of the C A D.

A short, familiar beep ripped her from her thoughts...

"Incoming transmission, captain. Its coded from command."

From the air the convoy was a gigantic box, successive layers of transports oilers and maintinence ships continued inward creating a tightly bunched and easily defendable mass of ships. Each ship had a pre-assigned escpae vector and the entire mass could break apart on a moments notice.

Extending out from the box were 4 ever expanding circles of escort ships and submarines. The carriers and thier organix escorts were in the first and the last was made up mostly of frigates and subs. Detsroyers, Battleships and cruisers were mostly in the inner two. A enemy would have to pass through all 3 to get at the convoy, whose inner area was being patrolled by ASW assets.

From the far right a destroyer and frigate squadron broke off from the main body of ships. 2 Cruisers and a Nimitz class carrier quickly followed the 6 escort ships. Underneath the waves a pair of Seawolf subs scanned the ocean ahead.

They moved quickly towards the continent of CAD seeking to pass through the Voltarum, JA and FSM fleets. While the saield they broadcast this message,

"We wish to enter Doomingsland let us pass to make port in CAD, we mean no harm."

The detachment neared the combined fleets and soon was only 25 miles out and closing quickly. No aircraft had been launched and no targeting or search radar was on. The only radar operating was simply navigational.

R.L.: Where's the nearest sub patrol to that area?

Granger: Patrol 216-B. Range: 60 miles (OOC:from the fleet; that and sntry buoys arer how I know what's going on).

A few minutes ago the sqaudron had begun picking up the FSM and JA surface fleets. The SONAR operators began reporting numerous contacts as well.

"Have they responded to our message yet?"

A tech turned to answer

"No sir, nothing...wait a sec I'm getting something....O SHIT thats X-band missile radar and by the looks of it they're also engaging cannon range finders."

The Admiral smirked darkly, "Well I guess that's our answer then, battle stations now, but I SAID BUT, do not turn on any targeting radar or launch planes, we will not be lured into being the aggressor. Radio back to the convoy to get ready, this is about to go hot."

He composed another message and quickly radioed it out to the enemy fleets,

We come in peace, we do not wish to fight you but yet you have begun to target us with weapons systems, why is this? All we seek to do is enter CAD, why do you insist in blocking our path and not resonding to our broadcasts?

Beneath the waves and on the surface every guided missile capable ship was busily logging the coordinates of the Electronic emissions coming from the two fleets. The data was fed into the bevy of ASM missiles being used by the convoy. In case hostilities were to break out the missiles could be launched quickly in the direction of fleet and then use their own radar to finalize their attack solution. The Wirrawayans were ready for whatever wa sabout to be thrown at them.

EDIT- In response to the message from the advance squdrons 4 Entire Wirrawayan fleets moved swiftly towards the battle area. 2 More stayed back with the Convoy to be held in reserve. The Borman fleets also accompanied the Wirrawayans to the watery Battleground.

Dera put down the latest communique. The Wrath and her group had just finished getting into position to the southwest of the Wirraway Fleet. There were a lot of ships around, but Dera had come to grips that this was a hit and run kind of mission. Just a little sting to let them know that this was a bad idea and they should just turn around. But she also knew that if they didn't run fast enough, they were dead in the water. Even with much of the Wirrawayan fleet out of range engaging the Soviets and Japanese, there was still a formidable navy out there, and they were outnumbered. But she intended to use every frickin torpedo she had the chance to.

They prepared for the signal from above. So far, at least to their knowledge, the Wirrawayans had not notcied their presence. After all, they had bigger things to worry about, and Dera guessed every ship up there was focusing on the JA and FSM fleet.

She nodded to her first officer. "Signal the group....Prepare for attack." She sat down. She knew as soon as she crossed the first sub screen, it was going to be a bumpy road. But, as every Voltaru knew, making chaos is the best offense against the enemy.

Nearly 1,000 carrier based planes, that's not counting the land based fighters that were lingering above the fleet. They had already refueled twice, they'd been up for so long.

Targets had all been picked by now, as well. The enemy fleets would be facing well over 1,000 incoming missiles on initial contact. The submarines began to move with torpedo range.

The tubes were loaded with Mk. 48 ADCAP torpedoes, extremely lethal pieces of technology. The reason the Doomingsland Navy hadn't switched over to a Shvkal-esque design was due to the fact that torpedoes of those types couldn't be guided very well, and that was crucial in submarine warfare.

"Sir, enemy contacts in range. Doom has asked for aviary assistance."

"Put up the fighters."

Planes shot off the runways as in total 820 Borman planes were put into the sky. All the fighters on the carriers came into the sky and joined the Doomingsladn force.

"This Borman fighter wing. 820 all told with roughly 1,000 bombers still docked on the ship. Any particular position?"

(OOC: I'll keep my RPs short. If I live up to my usual 800-1500 word standard, we'll never get anything done)

Leon Alexei Adler, Supreme Overlord of the Grand Dominion Toria, and First of the Thirteen, the ruling body of the Order of the Reptile, poured over the telegrams that had been dropped on his desk at two in the morning. Although he had gotten no sleep the previous night, no traces of fatigue lined his face. Deraphim seldom grew weary, especially when international matters had been left on his desk. The telegrams detailed an urgent request from an old ally for support in a massive ground invasion against the CAD alliance, specifically Doomingsland. Leon knew relatively little of Doomingsland politically, having seen their leaders only at major international conferences and such. The military details, however, were clearly laid out before him. Japanese Antarctica had requested that his old friends in Toria send a moderate force via transport planes and borrowed transport ships to establish a staging point in New Guinea. The outpost would serve as a safe zone for the allies, a refueling and rearming site, and the home of Toria's forces. This was, of course, a small matter for Toria and the Order.

Leon summoned his Minister of Defense with a simple wave of his hand. The minister approached, maintaining the utmost respect at all times.

"Minister, would you be so good as to inform me of which of my brothers is due to activate their forces?"

"Certainly, Supreme Overlord. Supreme Overseers Gabrael and Turel are due to put their forces in for active duty within the next month."

The Supreme Overlord shook his head with momentary regret, but quickly returned to his usual professional demeanor.

"I had hoped that Rahab was due. No matter, inform them, and I must stress that you do it immediately, that they are to gather their forces within two days, meet the transport vessels that will be arriving soon from our allies in the south, and set up a military outpost in New Guinea. Copies of the plans, maps, and logistics are contained in this briefcase, and are to be delivered to each of them. Interrupt them from whatever they are currently engaged with, this is a matter of high priority, second only to national security."

"Immediately, Supreme Overlord."

The Minister bowed and turned to leave before being interrupted by a final order.

"Oh, Minister? Inform them that the main waves for the invasion are to be comprised of the Nephilim. It would be such a shame to waste all that expensive training and equipment, would it not?"

The minister bowed again and left. He knew all too well that the Nephilim were only used in serious scenarios, as they were little more than monsters; killing machines to the highest degree. The invasion would be short. Short and bloody.

OOC: Right. My forces (2 Legions) will set up in New Guinea. As I lack an available map of New Guinea, I cannot pinpoint their exact location. However, it will be near the coast, on the side facing Australia, in an area that allies can freely dock and with lots of room to land troops, vehicles, etc.

Deployed forces are as follows:

I won't go into too much detail as to specific roles, since that's just ridiculous

78,000 Nephilim warriors (Patience, don't go OMG!!!! yet)
180,000 Support personnel
6,100 Combat Pilots
42,000 Support Air Force personnel

Each Legion (Two legions total) is comprised of:
39,000 Nephilim
90,000 Support personnel
3050 Combat Pilots
21,000 Support Air Force Personnel
1,200 Mobile Weapons Batteries, SD, AI, and AT models
1,900 Dominator-class Mobile Armor (Big, high-tech tanks)
1,000 Archangel interception fighter planes
905 Archon bombers
1145 Celestial ground-attack planes (anti-tank, SAM, artillery, etc)
2,300 Harbinger gunship helicopters

This isn't even a full Legion. In fact, the two "forces" that I am sending would scarely amount to half of one of my full Legions. So, I am being kind. And yes, I sent more than 50,000, but most of that will be reserves.

Now, the Legions are on a kind of "momentary alert" system that allows them to be activated and ready to go within two days. Allowing a further two days to finish moving preparations and board their transports, they can be to New Guinea effectively within a week and a day. A logistical nightmare? To any other nation, perhaps, but this is our specialty. Deploy fast and deploy hard. Setting up the outpost will take approximately three days. Thus, within a week and five days (One for rest and planning), my forces can be ready to fight a war.

This will be the longest post, with any luck, as I have decided that it is best that I post the stats for my Mobile Weapons Batteries and Nephilim, rather than email them to anyone interested upon request, as is my custom. Thus, prepare for the rest of an already-long post.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Nephilim (Special Infantry)
20mm Gatling gun, attached to suit
HE Grenade Launcher (Optional)
.50 Anti-materiel Rifle (Optional)
Biomech organism integration armor (Provides semi invulnerability from standard assault rifle fire, limited protection from armor piercing rounds, penetrable by shells, explosives, RPG’s, etc)
Night vision, Infrared, 16x zoom, computer interface, target information on HUD
These units are the cream of TOR’s already-superior crop. They are only augmented, not genetically mutated or grown in a lab. They are the best and brightest of TOR’s youth, taken from pools of candidates based on a number of tests. From there, they are given the most extensive, expensive, and grueling training TOR has to offer. If they pass the training, they are released into active service as members of Special Forces teams such as the TSIRCF for two years. After gaining two years’ worth of experience, they are tested again, and those who pass are brought into the depths of the most top-secret labs in TOR. There they are augmented physically and mentally, trained further, and integrated into their BioMech armor. They can leave the armor, but only for, at most, a few weeks at a time. They integrate with the armor via plugs that insert into the spinal cord, back of the head, arms, and legs. From there they have total control over every action and process in the armor, and can bring up a staggering amount of combat information via the HUD that is also connected to the brain. Once you become a Nephilim, you don’t quit.
The average training time for a Nephilim is six years, plus the two years of active duty that is mandatory for all candidates. All candidates present themselves at the age of 17 or 18. Any younger, and their body is not developed enough. Any older and they are too old by the time they are ready for combat. However, there are a number of “copies” being produced. These are the result of a reluctant decision on the behalf of the Thirteen. These are almost as skilled and lethal as the original 23,000 Nephilim, but are less…human. They take all the necessary genes from the originals, leaving out unnecessary traits (Eye color, hair color, reproduction, and so on). Because they grow more quickly, and are now relatively easy to produce, they can be created in shocking numbers. They are without emotion, fear, personal feeling or opinion, and live only for war and for the Thirteen. They run more on a sort of artificial intelligence than on an actual brain, making their thinking clearer and less flawed. They are built to rival the Sentinels of Automagfreek and the Reavers of Pantera. The best Nephilim, however, often come from ordinary people. This does not imply that the “copies” are anything less than harbingers of the apocalypse to the enemies of The Order of the Reptile.
They require very little food, no luxuries, and no payment. They live in large numbers in huge fortresses under the mountains of Toria. Keeping them running is relatively inexpensive, considering that they only require repairs on their armor, ammunition, weapons, very little food, and occasional medical examinations. They can survive in extreme heat and cold without suffering limitations on their combat abilities. They are trained to ignore pain, torture, and depravation. A single Nephilim can suffer horrific injury without being incapacitated. They are extremely intelligent and operate perfectly in both large and small groups.
Now for the Mobile Weapons Batteries.
Mobile Weapons Battery-Basic Model:
Height: 21.23 feet
Weight: 89.382 tons
Dimensions: 21.23 x 12.4 x 9.63
Armament: Six stinger missile pods, two nikita missile pods, four miniguns (two to each arm), two Vulcan cannons under cockpit, two medium artillery barrels on back.
Crew: Two. One pilot, one weapons operator
Armor: 2.46 inches reinforced titanium, 1.5 inches reinforced Plexiglas (cockpit)
Notes: Slow movement (25 MPH top speed), tank treads give it decent mobility on uneven terrain, poor movement rate on steep inclines. Well placed rocket to the cockpit could incapacitate or kill the pilot, rendering the MWB immobile. Excellent defense against infantry weaponry and light to medium explosives. The precursor to Mobile Suits, it resembles the base of a tank with a humanoid torso (Much like the Guntank from Mobile Suit Gundam). The arms end in miniguns instead of hands, while the missiles are mounted on the shoulders.
The IA, IT, and SD are based on this design. The SD is an anti-aircraft model, and is outfitted appropriately. The IA focues exclusively on infantry units, and the IT is the anti-armor model.
Phew, that's a lot of statistics. Right, on with the war.
In accordance with Japanese Antarctica's full entrance into this great war, we have decided to aid our allies in any way necessary, it is in no small part due to the continued actions of the CAD that we have an obligation to stand against them. It is no small feat that we defeated the CAD once before, and as fledgling nations then, we were able to defeat you, never forget, you lost once, and where you failed before, you shall fail again.
Having said that, I lend all allies my full backing, any requests for supplies and munitions should be posted and will be met without question.
I will immediately begin mobilization of my nation's forces and will await further requests from Japanese Antarctica.
{OOC} By the way Crimsdale, it's nice to see you're back with the CAD. But don't you think you're a little small to be in this war? Just kidding, after all, we beat you when we were smaller. Funny how history will repeat itself.
OOC: Ok, my hand is absolutely killing me after it got in the way of a kick during a round of sparring earlier tonight. So the next bit will be a really scaled down sort-of-IC, due to the fact that I'm typing at ten words a minute right now. Accept it for now, I might do it properly later if there is a real need to.
Sort-Of-IC (Skip ahead about an IC week after my last post)
The transports reached New Guinea with no problems worth mentioning. There was some resistence to the large intruding force, a resistance that was offered mercy (Which was refused) and cut down with ease as a warm-up for the Nephilim. Within two days, a massive camp had been established, complete with airstrips, helipads by the hundreds, troop housing, large supply bunkers, and command buildings. Spare room was allotted for the allied armies. Turel and Gabrael oversaw the preparations for the invasion, communicating with their allies frequently as they did so. Within another day, the army was ready to kick someone's teeth in, except on a larger scale. Planes, gunships, transports, tanks, and Mobile Weapons Batteries were kept fueled and prepped for any pre-emptive attacks and for the invasion itself, while the army was kept on full alert.
Meanwhile, back in the Citadel of the Supreme Overlord, Leon Alexei Adler is busy announcing a state of war between the CAD and the Grand Dominion of Toria. Total War had not been declared yet, but a draft declaration of such would be kept on hand, in case the CAD did anything that disgusted the Thirteen beyond their capacities for mercy (OOC: So, be very wise and don't use any nukes, bio bombs, or anything really underhanded). Several hundred thousand troops were being prepared to land in CAD territory and occupy it after the invasion succeeded, while treaties, ultimatums, and all that stuff were sorted out in neutral territory.
OOC: Right, that pretty much covers everything. Again, I apologize that I couldn't RP this properly, but circumstances are beyond my control in the form of a swollen and bruised hand.
"How much longer do you think they'll keep playing this game? That's the third time today they've refueled!"
"It's impossible to know. But remember, the soviet navy is in charge, and we are not to break the quarantine."
"Look at them, like a beehive!"
"Well, when they get here, we have the san shiki ready for these 'killer bees' they have. Remember, time is on our side. The enemy fleet has been cornered, once their supplies run out, they will be forced to fire on us or break our lines."
Priority: Urgent
Admiral, there has been a change of plans. The invasion is to begin soon,
Air Commander Shkodin will begin bombing runs promptly.
You are to clear the seas of any enemy vessels, so landing procedures
can begin. We have already contacted Japanese Naval High Command
with details concerning the invasion itinerary.
God Speed,
-Minister Oberuchev
Shkodin sat at his desk. The cue to begin would be played over the radio. Stay awake Ivan. You need to listen for the signal. Keyword is 'showtime.' Just as he said that in his head, an advertisement came on.
"Greetings Comrades, we have a fine product for you to order today, the Showtime Brand Pancake maker..."
Shkodin's eyes opened. He grabbed his jacket and ran to his jeep.
At the briefing room, the commander cleared his throat while taking a head count of those in the mission.
"Comrades of the Soviet 4th Bomber Wing, First Squadron, you are being called by the motherland to execute the noble duty piloting our fine aircraft. This is the maiden flight of the Yakutsk."
He cut to the chase.
"The mission plan is this:
At zero hour, squadron one will take off from our present location. At the proper altitude, you will fire your rockets and begin hypersonic flight.
Before entering enemy airspace, it is imperative that you try to preserve stealth and deploy countermeasures. The enemy will have no chance of hitting you, but it is better if they don't detect you at all.
At the target site, you will drop 4 2,000 lb bombs each. The target is to soften shore AAA and ASW batteries.
Squadron two will split up into their flight subdivisions, and target the three airbases closest to the shore. Precision munitions will be used to destroy the runways and control towers. Hangers and parked aircraft are secondary targets.
Landing will be done at Japanese Antarctica, Noboribetsu Airbase. Weather is forecasted to be suitable for landing.
No questions?
The mission begins now."
The 96 men left the room and headed for their respective aircraft.
The bombers took off, and headed for the CAD continent.
OOC:
The squadrons have 12 Yakutsk bombers each.
The flights have 4 bombers each.
Gen. Hammond: Verify that with AWACS Oka Nieba.
Just within radar range of FSM (we can see you, you probably can't)
Oka Nieba: Scope is clear. Wait, oh, hell where'd they come from, detecting multiple large signatures. It looks like a dozen bombers and a fighter escort. Bandits inbound on C A D, Repeat Bandits inbound on C A D. We can't stay on station, we'll be noticed, returning to base as soon as they pass.
Burak Air Force Base, located 100 miles inland to the beach, was recieving the latest model of the F/A25, the F/A25B. As Mobius One (you might recall him from the Vladimir Wars) tested out his new fighter, he was amazed at how well it handled.
Colonel, you are now sitting in the cockpit of one of the most advanced fighters in the world.
I can see that, it handles very well.
How's the rest of Mobius Squadron doing?
Mobius Two here, we are OK.
Very good. Congradulations, gentlemen, you are the first men to fly what is to become the backbone of the air force. This is one for the history books.
A large group of air crews, fighter and bobmer pilots, and support personnel were assembled in a large lecture hall that had been converted into a briefing room. Turel and Gabrael stood at the podium, detailing the mission that was about to take place.
A small bomber force from Former Soviet Mafia is preparing to launch. As agreed, we are to provide the fighter support, and generally keep their hides out of the fire.
This comment started a round of laughter from the personnel in the room. A force of ninety six bombers would have a hard time flying through enemy airspace, even though opposed by a relatively weak anti-air array such as Doomingsland had set up.
However, it is imperative that you keep in mind that you are to defend the bombers. No suicidal cowboy tactics, heroics, or offensive maneuvers, except in the event that an enemy fighter wing is released. In that case, shoot the bastards down and continue with your mission. Those of you flying the Celestials will be permitted to release your payloads on targets of opportunity. No bombers will be going with you, however, so use your loadouts wisely. Good luck, and may God be with you. Suit up, gentlemen, you leave for a rather dangerous soireè in half an hour.
The pilots saluted and filed out of the briefing chamber. Within half an hour, they were suited up, fueled, and ready.
OOC: Forces being sent: 145 Celestials and 200 Archangels. Stats are as follows:
TORAF S-4 Archangel-Class Interception fighter plane
The bombers flew over the Pacific Ocean on the way to their target. At the moment, they were flying at Mach 0.7 and at only 70,000 feet in the air, but that would change in a second.
"Engage rockets in 3... 2... 1..."
The shock from the RBCCs was like a kick in the back. The thrust being put out increased three-fold. They began the ascent. The SCRAMjet engines were lit on all of the aircraft and seats were reclined.
This was hypersonic flight. The planes again increased climb rate and were now nearly at 200,000 feet in the night sky, speeding towards the CAD at Mach 6.
* * *
Now the bombers were on the approach to the CAD continent, moving into staggered box formation.
"30 seconds until drop point. Engage countermeasures."
The countermeasures operators on each of the twelve bombers turned on their consoles to begin jamming probable enemy radar frequencies. If their radar falls, the enemy would know that they would be under attack, but they would not know what was attacking them.
A last minute payload change upped the planes' payload with six modified 3,000 lb KAB-500R bombs, specially designed for stationary "hard" ground targets rather than the original load. The twelve bombers began dropping their precision guided penetrating munitions on the unexpecting SAM sites below.
The wing commander smiled, seeing the allied TOR fighters already ahead of them below.
The balistic missile detection system went wild when the FSM bombers began skipping on the atmosphere. A senior officer came over, and recognized that they weren't ICBMs. He'd seen hypersoar before, so he was farmiliar with what they would look like (as he'd been trained to). Three ABM satelites were put in the flight path of the bombers, just out of bombing range of the coast. In addition to that, fifty F22s took off, armed with modified ABM missiles, capable of hitting a hypersoar.
Satelite photos also showed Reptilian fighters were preparing to launch on New Guinea, and in response, 200 F/A22s and 100 F/A25Bs took off, and began patroling Doomingslandian airspace, along with 3 E767s.
4th Special Bombing Wing, Squadron Two
Following right behind squadron one was the squadron who would go for objective two. Again, they proceeded with the precision attacks, this time, on the airbases in the southeast.
"Incoming above!" yelled a piliot through the radio. Giant, flaming objects were raining from the sky. But the warning came too late, 2 bombers were hit. The existing planes did not want to find out what would happen next. They switched off the scramjets, lowered from 200,000 to 120,000 feet in order to avoid more attacks, re lit the engines and high tailed it out of the CAD airspace.
Squadron One
"Looks like we've got company below," said the squadron leader. It was true; several Doomingsland planes had taken off from the ground.
The second pilot in the formation laughed. "They won't be able to hit us from where they are, with what they have."
He was correct, nothing had happened.
The planes re-lit the scramjets and soared out of CAD airspace.
So far, the mission had appeared to be a success. Even if not as much physical damage was dealt, it would deal a psychological blow to the citizens of Doomingsland.
Squadron two would join squadron one. Next up would be the landing in Antarctica.
OOC: Landing will come up next post. So will declaration of war.
4th Bomber Wing, 1st and 2nd Squadrons
After their dropping their bombs on Doomingsland, the bombers were not out of hot water yet. They would need to pass through Shenyang airspace. A radar operator observed what was going on below.
"Man, they really spared no expense setting up defenses. Too bad it's all going to waste."
The bombers sped off, and exited CAD airspace.
The Torian fighters roared over the ocean, approaching the beach defenses. The bombers from FSM were doing their jobs with beautiful professional precision, leaving little for the escort to do.
Right, boys. Let's head for home. Viper 7's paying for the drinks when we get back
Only after you pay me back for the last round
Alerts went off from all sides as enemy aircraft were detected. HQ confirmed the threat.
Awww, shit fellas. Looks like some hostiles wanna dance. I hope for their sake that they don't have two left feet
All fighters, swarm and engage. Celestials, do what you can with the second group.
Strength and Honor, let's kick some arse!
The entire fighter force broke off from formation and swarmed to meet the new threat. It was a strange kind of chaotic symmetry, with the fighters moving in all directions while still heading straight for the threat. The Celestials followed suit, heading for the smaller force.
The two forces traded missile volleys. Hundreds of explosions dotted the skies, wiping out two or so dozen Torians in an instant. As hard as they were hit, the Torians always hit back harder. The ace pilots and veterans got into their comfortable personal tactics, darting in between fighter wings and gunning away. The Celestials opened fire, trying to tear through the middle of the F/A25Bs.
Command, it's pretty hot up here. Requesting some cavalry, ASAP
Command here. Cavalry will be in the skies in five minutes. Hold on, guys
Small groups of Torian fighters started banding together, creating powerful and deadly wings of some of Toria's best pilots. They fought their very hardest against the Doomingsland forces, not wanting to lead the force back to the aircraft carriers by retreating.
Meanwhile, Gabreal and Turel had just received word that Leon Alexei Adler was sending another four hundred thousand soldiers to back up the force that was already stationed in New Guinea. No more Nephilim would be sent, but another two thousand Mobile Weapons Batteries and four thousand fighters would be arriving shortly. ETA four days.
OOC: Another hundred fighters and fifty Archangels will be in the air shortly.
OOC:I find it hard to belive that only two bombers were hit when they had 50 Raptors shooting 2 ABMs each, the sheer numbers would take down a few.
IC:
The damage done had been moderate at best. Since most of the SAM and ASM batteries sat below ground either in launch tubes or on hydrolic platforms, they were effectively invisible to satelites, and as a result, none of the important defences were hit. However, they had managed to destroy the SAMs that had been left in the open to make it seem as if they had caused damage. 11 SA2, and 8 SA3 batteries were destroyed by the bombers, and the airbase had two runways out of comission temporarily, with several hangars and barracks knocked out, as well.
To the Soviets, it would appear most of the defences had been annihilated.
The air battle started off with the F/A25Bs and F22s each launching 2 Pheonix II missiles at the incoming fighters from 100 miles away. The F25s headed in at mach 1.8, supercruising, drastically reducing thermal signature. When they closed to 20 miles, each of them launched two AMRAAMs, and closed to dogfight with cannons and sidewinders. The F/A25s would have the advantage as they tested their latest system: optical camoflage. The system had been jointly developed by Doomingsland and Soviet Bloc, and worked by having thousands of tiny photocells embedded in the aircraft's skin. Several cameras took a general picture of the surrounding environment, and a computer generated a general color scheme of the surrounding area onto the photocells, making them nearly invisible. To avoid mid air collisions with friendly fighters, an IFF system generated a box around friendly aircraft on the HUD.
This new system would give them a diffinative edge over the Torians. They also made use of the helmet mounted HUD, which allowed them to simply look at an enemy fighter to achieve a lock, allowing them to loose a missile to virtualy anything they could see.
OOC:Full specs in OOC thread.
The F22s also closed in, providing extra support for the F25s.
Meanwhile, after the fighters became engaged, 50 B52s prepared to take off for a raid on New Guinea.
EDIT:
After the Hypersoar incident had reached the ears of the emperor, he immediatly ordered Doomingsland's latest fighter into production. This particular fighter was a UCAV, not needing a pilot, making it much cheaper to produce and train personel. This new fighter, the UF30 Mustang II, was the answer to hypersoar. Engineers and scientists had been working on it for years, making use of prior experience with SCRAMjets with the LSLRM series missiles, making development far easier than normal.
OOC:Stats next time you try to use hypersoar.
OOC: Right, so this changes things lol. My last post mentioned fighters launching off my carriers, I assume they are still in the air... sorry for the crap post, I am in a rush.
IC:
Captain Jed Newton cursed at the incoming data.
"Repeat! Repeat! Contact between Ally and CAD forces reported. All ships rondevous to included coordinates to lend aid to FSM and TOS ships. Fire on any CAD aircraft that come into range..."
"Command, this Captain Newton, Alpha Wing. Message recieved and we are underway to coordinates. Alpha Wing out."
The massive group of 474 V-07 (superhornet) aircraft banked right, away from their previous course toward the Wirrawayan Fleet. Moments later, readings came in ahead of them. TOS and Doomingsland craft had engaged each other.
"This is Captian Newton to all Voltaru craft. Prepare to engage the enemy"
North Sector Naval Base, Antarctica
"ETA, lieutenant?"
"Severl hours sir."
"Very well. Go to Alert Status 4. Deploy defensive forces. I want the coast coated with our flag, just in case they have tails."
"Aye Sir."
Offshore, the Voltarum 7th Navy deployed around the North sector naval base, just to the west of Japanese Antarctican Waters. Far to the east, the 6th Navy was deployed off Voltarum Waters. Land defenses came fully online, as FSM bombers came toward Japanese Antarctica.
OOC: Huh, and you gave me several posts' worth of grief because of my near-future technology. Optical camo? Instant-lock HUDs? There is a very fine line that you are approaching.
IC: The use of optical camoflague didn't change the tide much. The Torian pilots were well trained to rely on both their own senses and their top-of-the-line targeting and threat-detection systems. Their capability was limited, but they still had a good idea of where the enemy planes were. Anticipating the sudden boldness from their foes, the Torians pressed the attack further. The Celestials and the damaged Archangels would break off and head for New Guinea as soon as the reinforcements arrived (ETA: 1 minute and 25 seconds). With renewed hope, they continued to create a fairly accurate rendition of Hell for their cowardly opponents.
OOC: Yeah, invisible, but invisible to what? Without specification, I am forced (what a shame) to assume that only the naked eye is fooled.
IC: The reinforcements were now in the air and were heading towards the battlezone at approximately Mach 2.6. Very soon, they would be within missile range, and the fight would be over for the Doomingsland planes.
OOC: 50 bombers? Albeit B52's, but this is an insult. Don't expect to be able to just say now that they're preparing, and soon telling me that they're upon my base, dropping bombs. We are at our highest level of alert, we WILL notice fifty bombers approaching. I'd be surprised if even one got within ten miles.
OOC:I never said instant lock, I said it was helmet mounted so they don't have to line up the aircraft to achieve a lock. It's commonly used tech. The fighters are stealthy, so you'd have a really tough time finding them. Another thing, you said the top speed for the Celestial was mach 1.7, and you've got them going 2.6, what gives? Don't worry, you'll see what happens with the bombers. And I'd like if you posted some losses.
IC:
The Hounds continued to outmaneuver their opponents, and launch missiles from odd angles, without even having to get the aircraft pointed towards them, making for easy kills. An AWACS had detected the approach of the new fighters, and vectored in another 50 F25s, which moved in at mach 3.2 towards the battle.
Wirraway
19-12-2004, 06:03
The Wirrawayan Fleet had not allowed its-self to be surrounded but had instead pulled back into standard battle formation. Each Fleet was about 25 miles from each other with overlapping arcs of fire, sub and radar coverage making it hard for anything to slip by unseen.
On general battle stations since the JA and FSM fleets has begun offensive maneuvers it took the fleets little time to bring themselves up to combat status after word hit the an attack had been launched on CAD. Immediately every fighter on the decks of the over 10 carriers launched and the gigantic SPY-2 Radars on board the Ticonderoga class AEGIS cruisers lit up the area like a Christmas tree. Over 500 aircraft were in the air at this point. They split into two groups of 250. The elderly Tomcats which made up only a fraction of the naval air units were to used as bait for the stealthy JSF's who were flying inside the radar image of the Tomcats. They quickly accelerated and using radar images from the AEGIS cruisers and AWACS aircraft each JSF launched 2 harpoon missiles at the enemy fleets. The squadrons then broke apart to meet any enemy air assets.
A mere 10 miles a away 2 Wolfpacks of Seawolf class subs glided quietly to periscope depth and began picking up the electronic emissions from the JA and FSM fleets. The data was uploaded in the 12 Harpoon missiles loaded into the vertical launch tubes of each of the 12subs. On command they executed an over the horizon harpoon missile attack based on the emissions of the fleets. The Missiles homed in on the emissions and then 5 mils out switched on their radar as they skimmed a mere 5 feet over the surface of the ocean. 50 ft feet out each missile, its target already acquired preformed a pop-up maneuver and shot 100 ft into the sky before crashing down into the deck.
On board the guided missile boats in the fleet much the same was happening, as the JA and FSM fleets had foolishly closed with 150 miles of the combined fleets and were still emitting they could be hit with every Harpoon missile that the fleet could throw at them. The SPY radars, now on for only a few minutes fed into each ship’s AEGIS system which automatically assigned targets for each one of its missiles, the number of targets was much less than the amount of missiles being fired so multiple targetings were common and high priority targets were purposefully targeted many times. Seconds later, the entire process was automated, over 2,500 Harpoon missiles leapt out of their vertical launch tubes and attacked the enemy fleets in the same way the submarine launched ones had. As soon as this was done the AEGIS systems began to attempt to ID any incoming hostiles.
A devastating first strike it was, but what would the enemy throw back at the Wirrawayans.
"Captain, the enemy fleet is live! Projectiles have been fired!"
"Very well," replied Dera. "Contact the group, tell them to begin, pattern Iota 5."
Raven group, 10 Seawolf Class and 3 Virginia Class submarines, powered up and streamed toward the port aft side of the Wirrwayan Fleet. As soon as the Seawolf's were within range, they let loose with all they had, targeting any low armoured ships closest to their position. The quicker Virginia class, including the Wrath, took up defensive positions - the Wirrawayans knew they were here now, and they would not be happy...
OOC: since I am not sure how your fleet moved again... the group would attack the main portion of the fleet (that is where all the troop transports were), not where you battleships moved up to. If your battleships moved back to the original position, well then we just attacked the port aft like i said. =)
With that, 220 of the V-07's, most laden with Harpoons, SLAMs, and HARMs, accelerated off back toward the JA fleet. The rest continued forward toward the dogfight ahead of them.
"This is squad leader to all Voltaru Ships. Give em hell, and then pattern Iota 3 back to the carriers... leave no survivors."
As soon as they were within range, the Voltaru craft opened up with half of its compliment of AMRAAMs. 254 of them screamed toward the Doomingsland ships, as the V-07s then accelerated toward them, ready to let loose with their Vulcan cannons and sidewinders.
Newton sighed. He wished he was allowed to pipe through some Metallica right now...
IC: The fighters were already in the air and so were ready to give aid to the battles springing up. All the raptors and GIF-101s immediately flew toward Doomingsland shores to help in the air battle that had risen there. The rest remained to combat the new threat that was rising to the naval forces.
BG-68s and Sea wolf subs immediately began to move towards the enemy submarines.
“Torpedoes ready. We know the location of the targets?”
“Double yes.”
“Excellent.”
At the Borman military base soldiers coursed out the doors and loaded into BMTs and CaDs. Accompanying them on their drive to Doomingsland beaches was the RM-30 emperor. OOC: Well, much as I'd love to post the long RP that I typed up, Joly, the mongrel piece of shit that it is, logged me out and it was lost. Doom, my OOC patience with you has run out. Stop whining. If you read my post, you'd see that I said that two dozen fighters went down. Now, how about your losses? Oh, that's right, you didn't post them. As for the speed, the Celestials do, in fact, have a speed of 1.7. I meant to type "Archangels", whose chase speed is 1.7, but whose top cruise speed is 2.6. I'll edit that as soon as this thing posts. I dunno, maybe it has something to do with the fact that my sorry excuse for an English teacher assigned us in the neighborhood of five essays, all due monday, and I'm trying to do those as well as post. It'll be another sort-of-IC.
Sort of IC summary of the thing that Jolt deleted: The fighters continued to gun away at the enemy, their optical camo not really giving them much of an edge. Seventeen Torian fighters went down (OOC: As soon as you post your losses, that is). They warn their reinforcements that another fighter wing is heading their way. The cavalry responds by sending thirty of their 150 planes to help out their comrades, and the remaining 120 head for the fighters that Doom sent out to intercept. They warn the base of the incoming bombers. They prepare to retreat back to the fleet as soon as HQ gave the order.
At the allied fleet, Mobile Weapon Battery SD's were being stocked with missiles to catch any pursuers of the Torian fighters by susprise. Literally hundreds of the SD's were mounted on the allied ships, and that meant that a LOT of things that go boom would hit the enemy.
At the New Guinea base, MWBAA's were being prepared, along with every other anti-air defense installation, to hit the bombers before they even got close. Only a total idiot would send fifty bombers at a Torian base without some trick up his sleeve. The defenses would make sure that the bombers didn't even get close.
OOC: Here, let me make it clear.
Losses (total):
And let me make it very clear that I fully expect your losses, regardless of your fancy optical camo, to be very close to mine.
IC:
Bridge of the DLS Athens
"Detecting multiple missile launches!"
"Let loose on hostile fleets! Vector interceptors on enemy fighters!"
"Roger!"
The fleet opened fire immediatly from their position 200 miles away from the enemy fleet. Within 5 minutes, over 700 missiles were streaking towards the FSM and JA fleets. The fighters also launched missiles. The 400 JSFs each launched two deadfish ASMs (basicly a suped up Moskit) from 100 miles away. The missiles then accelerated to mach 3, and flew towards the enemy fleet, skimming the sea. The ship launched ASMs were Deadfish II ASMs (suped up version of the other one, I'll get stats on both on OOC thread), which also cruised in at mach 3 (also skimming the sea). The Longswords all let loose with their payload of four LSLRM-AS-ER scramjet missiles. From the 40 bombers, a total of 160 of the missiles were launched. The missiles climbed up to an altitude of 100,000 feet, accelerating to mach 8. Once over the enemy ships, they went into a dive, bringing their velocity up to mach ten, using sheer kinetic energy to pierce the hulls of the ships. These were launched from 1,200 miles away.
In response to the hostile fighters (JA and FSM, Voltarum unknowing screwed himself over by flying within cannon range of my ships), the 400 F/A25As each launched 2 Pheonix II AAMs (Pheonix modified to be launched from F22s and such) making for 800 of them flying in from 100 miles away towards the enemy fighters. After those were launched, they closed to 20 miles, and each launched 4 AMRAAMs at the surviving fighters. After that, they closed for a dogfight, making use of cannons and sidewinders to destroy the remaining fighters, making use of their helmet mounted HUDs to lock up enemy fighters by simply looking, and making use of their superior maneuverability.
For the Voltarum fighters, a special surprise was in store. The fighters had been detected long before they got within range to use their AMRAAMs (20 miles). The Jericho Fleet Air Defence System had been online, and quickly coordinated the launch of 600 SM2-ER missiles from all of the ships before they could get within range to use the AMRAAMs. Several AAMs still managed to be launched, and their sheer speed allowed for them to go through the CIWS systems. The missiles' relatively weak warheads made up for this, though, and the damage done was minimal at best. 7 Oliver Hazzard Perry, and 3 Arleigh Burkes were lightly damaged by the missiles. If any of the fighters got within range to use sidewinders and cannons, they would be met with a hail of 20mm fire from all of the ships as their CIWS systems came online, making use of the Jericho system's advanced detection to quickly put thousands of rounds accurately on the enemy fighters.
OOC:
Six Ticonderogas and 2 Greco classes are equiped with Jericho (http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=345902&highlight=Jericho), but the other ships are set up to recieve information from the systems.
IC:
It flew down the crevasse at low speed and once at the end began to ascend to 80,000 feet, with over 100 others in tow. They accelerated to mach 1.3 and flew toward the JA and FSM fleets. Upon enterring range they each released their full load of 180 Harpoon missles (19800 total) toward the enemy fleets total. Once the weapons were away the Arkbirds broke off the attack and returned to base at mach .9, being covered by F/A-1010s the whole way.
The 2 Seawolf Wolfpacks had been blindsided by the assualt from the Voltaru. The tremendous noise of the Harpoon launches had all but shut down their sonar capabilities and when they had come back on line the operators had been horrified to find multiple torpedoes in the water.
The 12 Subs, following standard doctrine fired two snapshots with Mk.47 torpedoes back on the bearing the hostile torpedoes had come from. By following their path backward the torps would be able to locate the enemy subs. The wolf pack broke apart, each sub launching two noisemakers, creating a gigantic wall of noise and bubbles as the seawolf’s dove deep. While the decoys forced some torps off their paths others kept on going and homed in on their unfortunate quarries. A series of explosions rang out in the depths and the equivalent of one entire wolfpack (6) was decimated by the surprise attack.
On the surface the outer ring of the fleet was hit pretty badly with 4 destroyers sunk, 3 damaged, along 5 Frigates sent to the bottom. One of the Cruisers, which had been conducting radar picket duties on the outer ring was also damaged.
Other Wirrawayan assets in the area had not been standing idly by during the attack and other subs in the area that had not launched harpoons, but were performing patrol duties picked up the Voltaru as they launched their torps. After carefully calculating the firing solution they fired their own torpedoes and 20 Mk. 47’s cut through the water towards the enemy subs.
On the surface an ASW frigate squadron (4) and long with a destroyer escort (3) broke off from the main body of the fleet and launched their ASW helos(7) . The helos quickly began dropping sonobouys and using dipping sonar around the area to hem , as the Frigates pounded the area with active sonar. Soon enough, their positions reveled by determined searching the copter dropped their torps into the water directly over the subs positions and the surface ships launched dozens of ASROC torpedoes (rocket launched torpedoes) at the hiding subs.
High above the action, a squadron of Viking ASW aircraft were dropping sonobouys of their own and launching their own attacks on the marauding subs as JSF’s provided top cover from any air attacks.
The Voltaru’s had been foolish to attack such a formidable force and think that they would escape with their lives.
OOC: No, dear Doom, once again you grossly underestimate the skill and competence of my pilots and the effectiveness of my fighters. The skill and training (VERY extensive) of my pilots would compensate for most of the disadvantage that your uber-tech gives me. Can I have a link to the development of your scramjets? Or can you not provide one, because there is no thread? You forget that I have the entire allied fleet sending combat data to my fighters. Regardless of what their eyes and heat-seaking missiles tell them, the pilots can see pretty well where their enemies are. I don't want a ridiculous OOC post that tries to sidestep most of these accusations. What I want is for you to cease this nonsense and play like a real RPer.
By the way, assuming that your fighters are outmaneuvering mine (Twice now?) is widely considered to be mild godmoding. I wouldn't do it again if I were you. I'm going to assume that you're going to shape up and raise your losses while I post this.
IC: The fight was evening out. The Hounds, with all their technological superiority, were only given a slight advantage due to the skill and experience of the Torian pilots. Though they continued to take losses, the fighter groups pressed on and continued in their maddening swarm-tactic. The reinforcement group continued to fire at the incoming fifty Hounds, only receiving relatively mild retaliation.
Right, Viper One, time to go home. All fighters, back to the fleet. I repeat, all fighters, activate boosters and move it back to the fleet.
Viper One grinned, knowing what was in store for their over-ambitious foes.
Roger, Logos Two. All fighters, you heard the man.
All of the fighters swooped upwards, arched back in the direction of the fleet, and activated their vectored thrust to stop suddenly and face their enemy. From this range, the readouts from the fleet and from their own frantically-compensating computers, they could see almost exactly where their enemies were. Dozens of grinning pilots thumbed the trigger for this missiles, sending a last salvo to bid their enemy farewell. Taking advantage of the momentary confusion, the entire force turned back around and headed back to the fleet at top speed.
The SDs, as well as the other AA emplacements, prepared for the enemy fighters to show up. There would be Hell in the skies once the eager enemy gave chase to the Torian fighters.
Additional reinforcements had been summoned from TOR, with another two hundred thousand combat troops being sent in along with another twelve hundred Archangels, one thousand Celestials, and two thousand bombers. They would arrive in five days to support the troops that were already deployed.
The Shenyang Defences reached their full alert status. After the attack the Arkbirds had launched their attack the entire nation had been abuzz with military activity. In particularly the Arkbirds were prepared for a final attack against the Torians. If they came within the predetermined range they would be hammered by enough ammunition to stop even the largest assault force. Arkbirds were loaded with missles, and their UCAV bays were loaded as well. The lasers were prepped for any engagements. At bases all over Shenyang Broadswords were loaded for mixed anti-ship/anti-ground/anti-air missions. Every A-10 in the arsenal was loaded down to eliminate a battalion of tanks and every aircraft capable of carrying anti-ship or cruise missles was loaded down to the max. Mine fields were strengthened along the beaches and all other shore defenses were reinforced as well. Demolition charges in the exit tunnels from the beaches were prepped and the skies filled with aircraft, ready to attack the enemy landing fleet no matter where they attacked.
OOC: response to wirraway's attack
IC:
Indian Ocean
Admiral Suzuki smiled.
So they are moving into battle formation? They wish to challenge us? These weaklings will barely scratch our superior navy.
To: Coalition Naval Operations
Leave no enemy ship afloat.
-Suzuki
The Wirrawayan forces were executing a layer strategy, a formidable formation, but easily overcome when attacked from behind. The Wirrawayan fleet must not have realized that the four incoming Japanese Antarctican invasion groups were right behind them, executing a pincer maneuver on the badly outnumbered Wirrawayan forces. This would catch the attacking enemy fleet by surprise, as they targeted the battle strike groups and the attack by the invasion fleet would severely hurt the Wirrawayan attack, allowing the Battle groups to obliterate the enemy navy.
Suzuki radioed the IJN Eastern Navy Invasion Groups, and gave the order to counter attack.
The four Musashi-II battleships were the first to fire, lined up way ahead, targeting the aircraft carriers. Each of the ships' nine 18.1" guns rained 3200lb shells of destruction from their enormous turrets. Rate was limited to one shell per gun, per minute, to increase accuracy. A total of 36 shells per minute were fired at the Wirraway carriers, and this rate of fire could be sustained for the next hour, or until the Wirraway fleet was completely destroyed. In the meantime, any incoming warplanes would be met with air bursting san-shiki rounds fired from the Musashi's ten 150mm cannons.
Accompanying the Musashi-II's were Murasame class destroyers. After escort duties were accomplished, the three destroyers assigned to each battleship were to take care of enemy submarines, with a combination of submarine hunting helicopters and six torpedo tubes each. If the destroyers managed to inflitrate the enemy arrangement, they were to fire on aircraft with their 6 Sparrow launching tubes.
In front of the Murasame were the eight Ticonderoga class cruisers. Their primary goal was to sink the enemy destroyers. Using their two Mk32 torpedo tubes, and combining that with their eight Harpoon missiles, the Ticonderoga classes had the upper hand in the fight against the enemy destroyers.
OOC: Now for the Battle groups...
IC:
The battle groups were not faring as well as the Invasion groups, as they were the ones bearing the brunt of the layered attack. However the battle groups were much larger and could endure the prolonged attack.
Suzuki was a paragon in naval tactics. Rather than engage in an offensive immediately, the groups would move into defensive formation. The enemy was obviously going for an all-or-nothing assault; once the attack was over, the enemy would be extremely vulnerable. Musashi-II's lined the front, Ticonderogas were second, Kongos, Murasames and Shiranes third, Kujiras fourth and logistics and transport ships were well protected in the rear.
Then came the wave of harpoon missiles. The admiral was familiar with this scenario. He had trained under none other than the current Tenno, Admiral Okura Ryusaki. The emperor had explained in detail how the naval battles in the Soviet Expanse wars were won, and Suzuki would do his best to emulate Ryusaki's success, if not improve it.
Success was not only probable, it was guaranteed. Using Mk13J CIWS + NITD-V2 radar, technology as well as tactics were on the IJN's side. At close range, the CIWS would blast the small, slow moving harpoons. Even when a harpoon managed to strike the Musashi-IIs, the effect was barely felt, thanks to the 16.5" armor plating.
Now that the defense was over, a counter offensive could be launched.
This time, the Ticonderogas lead the charge, firing ASROCs at the enemy submarines, which were picked up during the period of time they were firing the harpoons. Four Kujira-Class CVNs sent 80 Su-54 fighters into the air immediately. After acquiring target data from an AWACS, the fighters fired two R-33 160km range missiles. If they did not hit, they would certainly harass the enemy planes, as well as lighten the load on the airborne planes. Once in range, the Su-54s could let loose their R-77s and R-73s. Musashi-II's began the artillery barrage, eight of them letting loose with their nine 18.1" guns, targetting the enemy aircraft carriers.
The eight Kongo Class destroyers would spearhead the assault on the enemy fleet, being superior to the Arleigh Burkes, each initially firing four harpoons at the enemy destroyers. Anti-Submarine Helicopters also began patrols.
And thus began another glorious IJN Naval campaign.
Attack on the Wirrawayan Fleet
The response had been quicker than Dera had thought. There was a respect there. The Wirrawayans were not thrown off guard.
The Wrath and the other 2 Virginia class subs spotted the patrolling enemy subs far too late, as the enemy torpedoes were the first to hit some of the attacking Voltaru subs. 4 subs were destroyed before they managed to send off another volley of torpedoes, while the remaining 6 took evasive action to try and avoid the incoming fire from the Wirrwayans. The 6 managed one more firing of torpedoes toward the fleet before the surface fleet and torpedoes found them. 5 more were immediatley destroyed. The last remaining Voltaru seawolf sub was damaged, disabling their propulsion. They fired as many torpedoes as they could before being blasted into pieces by the surface fleet.
Meanwhile, the Wrath and her 2 companions, cautiously on the outskirts of the fray, decided it was about time to follow orders and get the hell out of there. They fired one round of torpedoes towards the enemy subs, if anything but in an effort to confuse them, before vectoring off away from the battlescene at full throttle. There was little doubt the enemy had picked them up on SONAR, but they hoped to get far enough away before the enemy realized they were there. The Wrath took the lead, while the other 2 followed quickly behind...
Dera released her white knuckled hand from her command seat. "Ops. As soon as we get far enough away, I want a communication sent to command continue at present speed and course adjustment algorithm."
Lets hope our planes had more luck, Dera thought.
OOC: Losses (so far) 10 Seawolf Class Submarines.
OOC: No matter what Doom does with our mix up, I did RP 220 of the planes to go help JA's fleet... and not toward the Doomingslad "ships"
IC:
The 220 V-07 Superhornets arrived near the JA and FSM converged fleet.
It was pretty much chaos.
The Wirrawayan fleet had opened up fire on the JA navy, and the Japanese had not liked it. They were mounting a two pronged attack, and there were additional readings of torpedo fire off the the port side of the Wirrawayan fleet. Doomingsland planes were attacking the JA airforce as well, and there were more missiles in the air than anyone could really care for.
The squad leaders took control, and the planes attempted to fly around the north outskirt of the JA line toward the Wirrawayan fleet. The formed a standard pattern and increased speed toward the starboard side of the enemy fleet. Just in the fray alone, 5 planes were shot down from random missiles. As soon as they could get in range, they planned on launching every Harpoon, SLAM, and HARM they had, especailly since many planes did not have enough fuel to make it back to any Voltaru carrier... and the JA carriers were quite busy at the moment...
OOC:
Losses (so far): 5 V-07s.
WIll post more losses if Doom targets those planes, and when Wirraway launches aircracft/ anti aircraft guns at them.
The battle had started and was raging quite fiercely. Voltarum submarines had all been destroyed and so the Borman subs turned to face the JA subs. Immediately torpedoes launched from the tubes of every submarine. Captains screamed to their crews as they prepared for evasive maneuvers to face the wave of torpedoes that would no doubt strike back at them.
In the air Borman fighters went on the defensive. Air to air missiles were launched as fighters targeted enemy planes for dogfights. AA defenses on ships roared to life as the sky was filled with more objects. Fighters and defenses began to stem the flow of enemy aircraft and start to force back the planes. Much of the area above Wirrawayan/Borman ships was safe but not all and lots of fire was directed in these areas to clear them out to allow for an offensive maneuver.
The bulk of the Borman fleet maneuvered to face the JA naval assets coming in from the rear. Guns opened as ships immediately fired Harpoon anti shipping D missiles (Yes the one Wirraway used) towards the fleet to buy some more maneuver time. Approximately 2,000 missiles were fired.
Onboard the Onassis H.N. Greco Class Carrier
"Admiral, the Doomingsland fleet has began firing missiles on the enemy fleets."
"Well then what are you waiting for? Begin the attack!"
The 3rd and 4th Naval fleets began launching there Deadfish II ASMs missiles at the same time the Doomingsland fleet started launching there missiles.
Onboard on one of the Virginia Class Subamrine.
"Captain I have just received word to attack."
"Alright. Open up the torpedo tubes!"
"Torpedo tubes ready!"
"Alright fire!"
The submarine began shooting torpedoes and right after that the rest of the submarines began shooting torpedoes.
Fighters also began departing off the carriers loaded with 2 Deadfish I missiles each. Once they where in range (100 miles) they started targeting enemy ships and began firing there missiles.
OOC: This is my fleet for those who forgot.
-12 Curtis Fabus Class Battleships
-18 H.N. Greco Class Carrier
-60 Arleigh Burke AEGIS Destroyer.
-60 Ticonderoga Class Cruisers.
-30 General Purpose Gunboats.
-18 Virginia Class Future Attack Submarine.
-18 Trident II Class Ballistic Missile Submarines.
-12 Command Ship
All together the Curtis Fabus Battleships fired 1,152, The Arleigh Burke AEGIS and the Ticonderoga Class fired 1,920 and since I got 18 Greco Carriers with me and each can hold 150 fighters that makes 2,700 fighters and they carried two missiles each so that’s 5,400 missiles fired from the fighters. So in total that’s 8,472 missiles fired. Also we are using Doomingsland Hounds fighters. I believe the specs of those are located in the OOC thread.
IC:
AGF Fubuki, Naval Battle Operations Command
The air raid siren howled, alerting the men to rush to the deck to prepare for battle.
The radar had picked up the incoming attack. Thousands of airplanes were heading for the coalition fleet. After, An unrealistic amount of missiles was approaching the fleet. However, there was an extreme flaw in the attack. The missiles were being launched from 100 miles away! Although they were approaching at supersonic speed, it would be almost 8 minutes before they got near the fleet. Also, the missiles had little stealth. Because of this, the CIWS system had plenty of time to lock on and had enormous targets to aim at. Defense would be extremely easy.
The fleets also countered with SM-2R SAMS, with approximately one for every two enemy planes.
Suzuki was shocked. Until now, he thought that his sensei was joking when he said the CAD employed few tactics and used few resources.
What a waste of resources. I'm surprised that the enemy fleet was actually on our side at one point. The enemy admiral must be stuck in ancient times. Is he trying to make us underestimate him?
He pauses.
No, no sane military leader would sacrifice his men like that. He can't be bluffing.
Still looking distraught, Suzuki reached for his hat and stood up to head for the communications room.
Nevermind that, It won't make a difference. He'll surely pay for this blunder.
It was true. The enemy had made a severe mistake, rendering the attack almost fruitless, and left them open for a lethal strike. An opportunity that a competent Admiral would not miss.
The carrier planes were then ordered to launch a counter strike. A small number of planes would be used from each carrier. The magnitude of the attack would be a fraction of what the Greeks had thrown at them, but the strike would be much more effective.
The now retreating Greek planes would definitely be exhausted and need repairs, so they were viewed as a small threat and only a secondary target. The real target was the enemy ships, especially the enemy carriers.
The Su-54Js would fly in and spread out. They were to fire their ASM-3 (http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=7204522&postcount=1) missiles within 40 miles of the fleet, reducing the amount of time the enemy CIWS had to lock on to the missiles. Also, with the smaller number of planes, the operation was a lot more stealthy than the attack that was launched by the Greeks.
An attack also came from Doomingsland Fleet, though not nearly as strong. However, the Eastern Navy's fortress like defense had already began to show signs of exhaustion, and it was reflected in the numerous ships that sunk.
Once the waste in the CIWS chambers built up or fuses burnt out, the CIWS would need some time to reload on some of the ships. Being taxed as much as they were, some of the rear line ships were forced to move up to take the place of the tired, but more capable ships.
However, all was not lost. The enemy made an extreme poor judgement in launching missiles from such far a range. True, the planes would have little risk of being shot down, but once detected, the ships would be able to move enough for most of the hypersonic missiles to miss completely.
The Eastern Navy had been dealt a mighty blow. But they would be sure to return fire. All groups were ordered to pursue, to erase the buffer zone the enemy had built up. Once in range, the groups would standby for orders.
Also, Suzuki did not want to take a risk by breaking formation. He sent a telegram to the FSM and Voltarum fleets.
Wirrawayan forces did not seem to back off, instead, they pulled into an aggressive stance. And after that, they launched an attack.
The Admiral was pleased.
This was it. The enemy was first to engage, now the quarantine turned into a hunt. I love it when the plans work out in our favor.
The FSM naval forces were not as strong as their allied counterparts, but they could still hold their own against the enemy.
First came the attack from Wirraway. As expected, harpoon missiles were fired at the Soviet fleets. As the equipment was specifically designed to counter American designed technology, the result was minimal damage to the fleet.
About an hour later came the Doomingsland attack. The ferocity was definitely upped.
A midshipman leaned over the guard railing on one of the aircraft carriers.
"Samko, what do you suppose the enemy is firing at us? The sound and fire coming from those missiles are very irratating."
"Are those Moskits? Where did the get their hands on those?"
"They can't be!"
"You are right Yevgeny! They are too large!"
Their conversation was drowned out by the CIWS shooting down the missile.
Other ships were not as lucky.
An Ob' Class ship, carrying sailors who had fled from their sinking vessels was struck by a missile. Smoke rose from the starboard side, fire consumed the space where the red cross was painted.
The admiral was shocked.
I don't believe it! They've sunk a hospital ship. What a disaster!
He immediately sent a telegram to the Defense Ministry. They would be very angry, that the CAD broke the rules of war.
To his surprise, another attack was launched at the fleet, even heavier than the previous one. The enemy was identified as Greek and 9M33 type SAMs were launched at the incoming fighters to intercept them at long range.
But the unthinkable happened. The other surviving Ob' Class Hospital Ship was heavily damaged. With only half power, the overcrowded ship was sent back to the shipyard for repair.
Revenge was necessary. A telegram was received from an allied group...
Ten Ka-25 and twenty-four Ka-27's accompanied to aid in target acquisition and surface attack. Only sixty of the Su-54's would actually be attacking, the others would be bait for anti air defenses. The plan was to get in close, launching the P-500 missiles within one hundred miles range of the enemy ships. Under no circumstances were the planes allowed to fly deeper to target the huge carriers of the enemy fleet. The copters fixed their big bulge radar systems on the enemy surface combatants.
They flew low and fast, getting ready to fire their payload. The missiles were antiques, but it was the only thing Gregorov could spare. Though old, the missiles did have a 2200 lb HE warhead, releasing a single which could easily disable a destroyer.
This happened as the remaining combatants edged closer to the enemy fleet.
Meanwhile, replacements for the Arafura group which had been badly damaged by the last attacks were being sent to the battlezone. Two identical groups would replace the single tattered battlegroup, plus a greater logistical chain to allow for more frequent attacks.
But Gregorov was a bit apprehensive, for the new fleet may not reach the battlezone in time.
Damn it. If only the Defense Ministry spent more on ships and naval bases, we wouldn't be in this situation. Well, at least our airforce and army is nothing to laugh at. But damn, I'm stuck with these tin cans.
We did what we could, we tried to make something
out of nothing. Hopefully we've stalled them enough
for you to pick the pieces back up. Tag, you're it.
Meanwhile, another 1,000 F/A91As took off from their airbases, along with an escort of 500 F/A25Bs, splitting off into two groups. One group, 750 aircraft strong, headed to the FSM and JA fleet, while the other 750 strong group headed towards the Voltarum fleet (meaning each group is 500 F91s, 250 F25s). This was the result of a high level order from the High Command, as it utilized the airforce's entire inventory of F/A91s. Each of the Soviet Bloc built fighters headed to the enemy, supercruising at mach 2. Each was loaded by two Deadfish I ASMs to be launched, and two AMRAAMs, while the F25s had 4 Phoenix II, 4 AMRAAM, and 2 sidewinders. The F/A91s would try to get within 30-40 miles of the ships, and release their ASMs, utilizing their radar wave cancelation systems to prevent radar guided AAMs from hitting (or even locking on), and most likely preventing the ship based radar from seeing them until they released their payload. Before that, the F/A25s would launch their 4 Phoenix II missiles from 100 miles away at any aircraft, then stay on station in case a dogfight broke out.
OOC:In response to FSM's strike.
IC:
The approach of the fighters was picked up by an AWACS bird, and 90 F/A25As vectored in to intercept. The F25s were equiped with 4 Phoenix II, 4 AMRAAMs, and 2 sidewinders. At a range of 100 miles, the fighters launched all four of their Phoenix missiles (from 50 miles away from the fleet, meaning you'd still have that much more to go), the AWACS guiding them to their targets. They then stayed on station in the same area to destroy any aircraft that survived that barrage and tried to still get closer.
OOC:Post how many planes survive that and if they moved in closer, I'll post launching the AMRAAMs, than you post how many of them made it close enough to launch.
