Taldaan takes Indonesia (Earth III)

General Li looked at her palmtop computer. Everything was going to plan. The Taldaani Army had swept into Indonesia fairly easily, with no deaths so far. Taldaani helicopters swept across the clear Pacific sky, searching for any resistance. The imperialist government of Indonesia had been cast down, surrendering after three Taldaani helicopter gunships had raked the front of the Government House with 30mm cannon fire. The few enemy forces who hadn't surrendered were being mopped up by the fearsome elite Air Cavalry, and the Indonesian Military HQ was under heavy howitzer bombardment. All in all, it hadn't been that hard. A glorious victory, winning the hearts and minds of the people, and using guided munitions which actually worked so no civilian buildings were destroyed. All this would look very good on TV, or the fronts of newspapers.

She smiled, knowing that soon Indonesia would be completely Taldaani, taken under the golden wing of Democratic Liberal Socialism. The red flag fluttered abover her tent, along with the blue flag of Taldaan. All in all, the hastily-constructed encampment was very photogenic, apart from the group of Air Cavalry sitting in the background. Sergeant Fayette was asleep, and so his men were having a few well-deserved reefers and playing strip poker with some of the female members of the force.
"Harkness, put that away, dude!"
"Jealous, ya commie bastard?"
There was laughter, followed by the sound of the group breaking into a rousing chorus of "The Commie Bastard Song"
Li sighed. Despite the imminent victory, she was going to have a headache at the end of this.

Official Statement to the Eternal-Dragons:

I am afraid that the Indonesian government forced our hand in attacking them. They struck first. If you still wish to attack us, we urge you to reconsider. A military assault on Taldaan would be most foolish. If peaceful relations are maintained, we will consider opening trade links with you when fighting in Indonesia has finished.

*********************************************************

Private Harkness ducked behind a tree, reloading his assault rifle. His unit were fighting in the dense jungles, attacking one of the few Indonesian Army divisions which had not surrendered or already been defeated. Their helicopter kept the Indonesians' heads down with a withering barrage of 20mm shells, but it was up to the men on the ground to move up and kill or capture the fighters.
The sharp crack of return fire snapped Harkness out of his daydream, bullets blowing holes in the trees around them. There was a shout as one of the Taldaani soldiers took a bullet to the leg.
Seargent Fayette, as usual, led from the front, firing his weapon at the enemy over and over again. Despite his reckless behaviour, he hadn't been hit yet. However, with the way he was advancing, pistol in one hand, Taldaani flag in the other, it was only a matter of time.
There were barked orders from the other side as they began to run out of ammunition. Bombing of supply columns meant that the Indonesian resistance was starving, dehydrated, and rapidly running out of fuel and bullets. This cry was answered by the Taldaani warriors, an ululating primitive howl. They charged up the slope, pointing guns at the enemies' heads. Another forty prisoners.......

====== Indonesian underground bunker=======

The two north Korean agents stood up sharply, their obvious sense of command over the disorginised Indonesian rebels by the way they spoke.

"Ok maggots........The army is big and strong....But how can they fight us in Urban warfare.......For two long have you fought on a conventional playing field....Now issue orders for all rebels to fall back north...Away from enemy positions...."

With that a message was sent through a secure line, much like the almost untouchable communication codes the North Koreans use...

======Southern Part of Island in various towns========

As part of the new urban warfare the rebels set off small remote control explosives in nearby towns and buildings currently occupied by the enemy..

===Indonesian Rainforest===

Shangel pushed back a fern frond and peered out into the clearing. 'Aha.' he thought. 'A place to stay'. In the clearing, a fairly large open space, an oasis in the dense rainforest, was a modest Indonesian town of 500 or so houses.

Shangel was an aethiest missionary from The Sultanate of Chinkopodia, who had not yet been informed that being an aethiest somewhat defeats the point of being a missionary. He wandered around far-away countries with very little money preaching absolutely nothing at all, which was Chinopodia's excuse for a religious sector.

After a few hours of anti-preaching, he became aware of a fair amount of commotion in the town. On the west side of the clearing, a large group of armed men, from what he could see, had entered the town. They didn't look very much like police.

He stopped a fleeing townperson and asked in coarse Indonesian who they were.

"These people are the feared invaders...."

"How dreadful."

"They are going to attack the village, -"

"That seems fairly obvious. I want to know why."

"This village is the last stronghold for those who oppose the invaders....it is not my fault that they have set up their residence here! Now I must hurry, else I will be in great danger!"

As the wretched man was running, Shangel called after him "Remember, I said absolutely nothing!".

"Just run, you stupid westerner!" he shouted back.

But at that point, the invaders entered the street, guns blazing. :mp5:

ooc: Chinkopodia, did you just move my troops for me? First, since when were you in Earth III? Second, if you did move my troops, don't. Taldaani forces don't enter areas guns blazing.
Eternal-dragons, sure, go ahead. This will make it a lot more interesting.

IC: There was a crash from one of the buildings across the town square. The roof was lifted off by the force of the explosion, and the windows and doors blown outwards. Citizens ran screaming from the blast, some being hit by flying debris. They lay in the road, bleeding. The first real attack against Taldaan-held areas.

At Taldaan HQ in the town, they were panicking. Medics had been sent straight away, but the officers there were edgy and scared. They decided to turn this into a propaganda victory.

Standing in front of Taldaan HQ, one of the officers stood delivering a speech. The Taldaani flag fluttered dramatically behind him.
"People of Indonesia. We have freed you from your oppresive government. Hospitals and schools are being built, areas are getting clean water and electricity for the first time ever, and you are free. Indonesia will become a truly great country, admired around the world."
There were mutters from the crowd, but everyone seemed to agree.
"But, there are some who would have that never happen. They destroyed that building, killing and wounding men, women, and children. They hate Indonesia, and they hate its people. And we will defeat them. They will be destroyed."

The Villages in the Northern Part of Indonesia:

Upon hearing this message Indonesia were carrying their own propaganda war war, with posters that often read

"Fight the Oppresive and subdue their spirit....For the people power is far more powerfull thany any guns or Fighters......"

This message indeed was getting through as many of the Northern villages and towns in Indonesia, often allowed sheltering for many of the rebels, as well storing weapon plans, Weapon Caches, Underground bunkers, and food and aid alike. Also due to this message many were also begining to aid the rebel war effort by either joining the rebel army for training, or building several underground bunkers and underground tunnels.

Indeed at this rate the place known as Indonesia would turn into a modern day Vietnam.......If Taldaan liked it or not........

=====Urban Jungle, fierce area of fighting=========

As part of the escape route many rebels often constructed, small tripwires for explosives, whilst returning small R.P.G fire and Anti-aircraft guns to the helicopters that followed them.

12 Injured..

The Taldaani Ghost helicopter flew up the narrow street, firing as it went. Small arms fire rattled off the armoured hull, merely annoying the crew with the rattle. Pulling the triggers on the joystick, the pilot returned fire, high calibre shells ripping into the pavement and the enemy fighters. Harkness leant out of the window, firing his assault rifle on full auto. Fayette was on the other side, firing bursts at any Indonesian fighter stupid enough to pop his head up.
A second helicopter followed. This one moved slower, more cautiously. No-one was leaning from the windows on this one, although the pilot was giving out plenty of punishment with the helicopter weapons. A shopfront exploded in flying glass and smoke, obscuring the two probably-dead enemies inside. Suddenly there was a rattling boom as a rocket propelled grenade struck it. There was a plume of smoke and a hole was blasted in one side. Five men inside were killed instantly, with everyone else suffering at least minor injuries. The pilot struggled to bring the crippled chopper to the ground. It landed with a heavy thud, jarring the passengers. Realising the danger they were in, the injured soldiers dismounted, those who could returning fire at the enemy.
The third and final helicopter of the group swung around the corner, attempting to slaughter the attackers in a blaze of gunfire. This city block had to be cleared, so that the rest of the army could push in and take the city. A flurry of shells hit Indonesian resistance fighters, flinging them back like chickens in a wind tunnel. Bleeding, broken chickens. Using its radio to call for help, it hovered close to the downed helicopter like some metallica guardian angel

*********************************************************

In the North, things weren't going so well. The people were more aggresive there, and they appeared to be being aided by North Korean fighters. They were well dug in, and although the Taldaan Army were making a good job of it, and killing and capturing more rebels by the hour, this would be a long war. Or would it?
General Li had a plan to drastically cut down the amount of time it took.
"This is General Li, to Taldaan Command. It looks like we have a jungle war on our hands in the North. I want the Crazy Eights.......Yes, the 8th Elites. Haven't you heard what everyone calls them?.......You'll send them? Drop them, at these co-ordinates........"

The 8th Elites were the best jungle fighters in the Taldaani Army. It was them who had rooted out the enemies in the jungles of South Taldaan in the war of '02. They had had a real nightmare of a war, but they had come out of it able to take on almost any foe, no matter how dug into the jungle, and come out on top, with a sixteen-inch combat knife in the enemy soldier's chest. And they were on their way to Nothern Indonesia. This should be interesting.

Southern Districts Within Indonesia:

Despite the retreat of rebel fighters, the underground tunnel networks remained in vast quantity as many civilians were warming more and more to the (EDNKEG)Eternal Dragon North Korean Elite guard ideals. And although ressistance was vastly diminishing in the south, the rebels left a wake up call in their wake by occasionaly slipping in the odd experianced S.A.S style North Korean operative to cause havoc, by snipering the odd soldier, or making several explosions.

Nevertheless damages were high to both rebel and civilian life.

700 Indonesian Rebels killed
335 Rebels captured
1800 Rebels Heavily wounded
2000 Rebels minor wounds

5 North Korean Operatives killed
900 Civilians killed
2200 Civilians Heavily wounded
3000 Civilian Minor wounds

======Northern Vilages and towns=======

The leaders of the majority of the Indonesian rebels, strangly the N.k elite guard resumed operations in preparation for a full-scale attack enemy forces. Therefore as part of the plan rebel held areas along with civilians started to lay hundreds of claymores and other various mines and tripwires to deter land movements, whilst they also continued to build bunkers and some kind of defense against the aerial threat. Once again well trained North Korean Operative snipers engaged the enemy, their precise aim rarely missing its target. Other less-trained indonesian rebels and remmanents of the army exchanged small arms fire with enemy troops, no side appearing to gain a advantage.

=====Damages=========

2 Civilians and 36 Injured by incorrectly using claymores
35 Indonesian Rebels killed
83 Injured in some way
300 Civilians killed
135 Injured in some way

ooc: Hanbg on, when did I butcher all those civilians? And surely they would support me, as I actually am bringing things they never had before, such as hospitals and schools. Taldaani Army soldiers aren't American troops.

General Li swore, something she did not often do. Taldaani forces were taking casualties from snipers all across the Northern battlefront. Rumours were rife that the Indonesian rebels were recieving assistance, not only from North Korea, but from other nations as well. The forces were taking moderate casualties, but the sniper fire was having a major effect ojn their morale. To counter the sniper threat, infra-red sensors were being issued to soldiers. Tunnels had also been discovered, and they were thought to be being used by the resistance.

********************************************************
Northern Indonesia, Jungle:

The 8th Elites, Crazy Eights, had arrived, something which the normal troops were very relieved about. Sporting their trademark tatoos, and carrying their special edition huge combat knives, they looked every inch the deadly jungle fighter. However, they also knew that the best way to win a jungle war was to be even more sneaky and underhand than your enemy. Explosives were being set off at every tunnel entrance, collapsing them. Hopefully it would bury rebels alive. Snipers were being spotted with the infra-red, and it looked like for now, that threat would be much reduced.

Gunfire crackled as the Crazy Eights finally got their first taste of Indonesian blood. A patrol group had run into an enemy patrol, and now the jungle rang to the sound of Heckler and Koch rifles. The battle was short and sharp, with one Taldaani dying and one injured after taking a bullet to the leg. The enemy patrol had been routed, most of them dead but a few fleeing into the jungle. The troops decided not to follow. Their fellow warriors had been plagued by Claymore mines all morning. Casualties had been high.

Through the rest of the jungle, things weren't quite as good. Despite taking few casualties first, the Taldaani forces had been pinned down in places and showed no signs of moving for a while. Helicopters had done a lot to prevent this, but it looked like most of the line would be going nowhere fast.

Meanwhile, Trooper Jurgen was pointing out something to his seargent.
"Sir?"
"Yes, soldier?"
"This guy isn't wearing normal rebel clothes."
"Hang on. Let me take a look."
The seargent looked, then looked up again, his eyes fiery. He radioed back to HQ..
"General Li? We got a body of one of the foreign fighters. He's from Eternal-Dragons."

OOC: Well because rebels dress like civilians and kill some of the civilians is the main reason they are high....Good rp though nevertheless

-----------Southern Indonesia-----------

With the various issuing of Infra-red, as well as the infamous Crazy eights, much of the sniper attacks had ceased by the elite troops, often resulting them to use plan B much faster then first though.

Tunnels were also beginning to be discovered, often resulting in the speeded destruction of safe rebel hideouts within the south.

========Losses========

3 Elite guard of the Eternal Dragons killed
13 Indonesian Rebel snipers killed
7 Captured
22 Wounded in some way
2 Major Tunnels destroyed and discovered
17 Minor tunnels Damaged

=============The attack on the enemy within the south============

The sergeant of the small elite guard present in the southern districts sighed slightly, gently whispering what appeared to be Korean dialogue as he whispered.

"Damn it was a hassle to kill those guards......And despite that...We only have one shot at this......." He whimpered.

Nevertheless he continued to sit nervously, waiting to see if his fellow communist comrades could succeed in their mission.

======Main Camp within the Southern District=================

The small group of operatives approached the checkpoint in a tightly knit formation so typical of the Taldaan army movements they studied for years. Upon arriving, they strode up to a small security check-point within the town, before being questioned by the various soldiers present their.

"Soldiers....Your I.D. please" Shouted one of the taller Taldaan officers monitoring the situation with suspicion

"Here it is private". Murmured one of the operatives in a strict Taldaan accent, whilst almost simultaneously handing over the four fake army I.D's to security.

After much studying of the I.D, the tall officer simply nodded to his fellow colleagues to allow them through. Thus the gate was open and they continued on their daring mission, eventually resting at the camp of the main officers room.

======Main Commanding officers room============

They waited outside the tent for anxiously, before their promises were fulfilled as the middle-aged leader spoke.

"Who is it............" He sighed, whilst continuing to rummage through various intelligence documents, catching the eye of the enemy.

However seeing as he was being asked a question, the leader of the operatives spoke stutteringly.
"Err Err.....Sorry to disturb you....But you are required to be present within the north of the army camp...... As the commanders of the Crazy eights have arrived back......"

He nodded slowly, before getting of his chair and making his way to the area that he was told. The ploy obviously worked, and now the next stage had to set in.

=====One of the remaining Underground tunnels within the southern districts.=======

The Indonesian rebels waited silently for their orders to strike, however the silence was soon short lived as their radio started to go off, almost impossible traceable without good enough equipment.

"Hello........" Murmured one of the Indonesian rebels, his R.P.G resting by his side as he talked.

"Ok we are in the main camp.....Commence operation catch the pigeon.....Repeat shoot down the flock....."

"Roger" Said the rebel.

This soon would be the last reply before the radio transmission was cut off, as the Indonesian signalled to his colleagues to lift up their weapons and commence their suicide mission.

Nevertheless without delay they soon were ready, resulting in the mission to commence. Thus with haste the small dozen strong group of rebels left their safe haven, and into the surface air, upon doing so firing several rounds from their A.K 47s and R.P.G's to attract the attention of the camp.

This indeed seem to work as within minutes noises was heard of troop movement towards the enemy blast. Seeing this, they began to engage the numerous enemy with small arms fire, a battle that was already lost.

======Main camp=========

However despite this seemingly worthless assault, it indeed was not. Because unknown to the enemy was the fact that it was mealy a diversion so that the agents could infiltrate and recover all the intelligence documents.

So without haste they began a rummage of the main camp area, often storing disks, documents and nearly anything they could find about the enemy operations and troop types. When finished they stored the items within their thick camouflaged attire pockets, before making their way out the main camp and into one of the last undiscovered minor tunnels. However despite no resistance so far this would all change, as little did they know that as they made their way out, a few soldiers of the crazy eights marines were standing their about to fire. Seeing no time for delay, they simply turned round and released a barrage of bullets upon the enemy, most likely killing a few within the process. However the result was disastrous as seeing the thread, the enemy appeared to counter attack resulting in the demise of one of the four, as well as wounding the others. However despite the attack, they pressed on, releasing smoke grenades to cover their tracks as they made their way within the underground tunnels, just hoping that they had lost the infamous marines.

Indeed they lived up to their name as crazy eights, also resulting in the small loss of life to the elite guard, whilst wounding many others.

However several minutes later, they appeared back at their base appearing to have lost the enemy. And from their they distributed the Intel into various hideouts and shelters, whilst getting their wounds treated by some kind-hearted civilians.

1 Elite guard dead
All others suffering wounds, one eventually dieing
====Battle between Rebels and Marines=======

The battle was over, the rebels had lost. The remaining survivors were captured and interrogated for information, while they blow up another tunnel.

4killed Killed
10 Injured
10 Captured

=======North Indonesia========

The claymores had worked like a charm against ground enemy divisions, often halting them within their tracks. However seeing this as no chance to collapse they continued on reinforcing the bunkers and shelters present there, whilst continuing to produce the underground tunnels like they did for the Vietnamese during was against U.S.A.

During this time morale was high for the rebels and operatives alike, they were winning the war, although they knew that many more days lied ahead of them.

======Sea north of Indonesia======

The custom-made subs of N.Korean (Eternal-Dragon) make made their way slowly towards the northern Indonesian beachhead, dropping off what appeared to be more ammunition and weapons for the war. Among them were various nuclear suitcase bombs, or dirty bombs as many others called them.

The war indeed was now getting interesting....

General Li looked over the Intel reports that had just arrived. Not good. The platoons in the North were taking casualties from concealed mines, and a camp in a previously safe area had been attacked. Although the camp had not been badly damaged, and not many casualties caused, in the cleanup it was noted that documents had gone missing. She swore loudly.
And now she was recieving messages from North Korea. Some general telling her that she would be slaughtered if her men didn't stop finding dead Koreans, and something else.....

A diplomatic solution? It sounds better than mindlessly shooting at each other. A truce, we can arrange easily. A portion of Indonesia might be trickier. It depends on how much you want. We propose that both sides back down and return to their camps while we talk this one over. After all, more killing of our soldiers could result in retribution.

A truce would be a correct decision indeed.......As with all this bickering..many other aspiring nations in Asia have gained valuable land....So for now we shall stop are unconventional warfare to discuss possible peace terms..

As for a part of the country we have decided it would be better to have the north part.....We believe this due to the fact of are amazing support in the area..

Also in return for being allies......We shall sign pacts which involve various trade and military exchanges...And on top of that..we require your support in defending the nation known as taiwan.... or defending the south of Korea.....Because considering indonesia is rather close to our colonies in asia(Philiphines)...We could perhaps cut off the attacking fleet and drive the enemy out of asia once and for all....

Any aid in that war will result in great ties of our nations.....And considering we are the best in missile technology...It is wise to help us......

We hope actions today will result in a better future.....

Upon hearing a peace deal being struck, cheering was hear beneath the various war-torn villiages and town across the north, many even laying down their weapons in joy.

General Li smiled. As usual, in Taldaani warfare, a peaceful solution had been agreed upon. There were probably still handfuls of enemy fighters in the area, but Eternal-Dragons had pulled out their troops. She sat there, looking out over the jungles. The sun was just going down, and her command helicopter would be returning to base. She dangled her legs over the side.
Now all that must be done is rebuilding this country. I'll be going home soon.

A noise behind her snapped her out of her reverie. Captain Thomas, one of her officers, sat down next to her.
"We'll be going home soon, won't we General?"
It was the expected question. Captain Thomas had wanted to go home throughout the war. Back in Taldaan his wife had had their second daughter, and he wanted to hurry home to see them.
"Yes. Your unit is first in line for the trip home. In a week, you'll be back in Taldaan."
"I hope so."
"Don't worry. The war here is over."

Down below, this was being confirmed. A team of men and women, both local workers and Taldaani soldiers, was putting up temporary homes for those left homeless. A communal kitchen had been set up, and food and medecine were being airdropped. Martial law would end in three days, and then the people would have the freedom that had been denied to them under the old regime. All in all, a satisfactory result.
The eternal-dragons
24-12-2004, 19:57
A joyous occasion indeed, the success captured by the co-operation of two former enemy's, in building various basic infrastructure for the North and South. The war had indeed ended, but with the hearts and souls these people possessed, no problems were unreachable.

Elsewhere the first set of Supplies had arrived from the Eternal Dragons in the shape of landing crafts making their way from the north. This was of course met with relief as people converged around the boats scurrying for much needed supplies. The first steps in rebuilding a country would be the hardest, after that life would eventually get better.
