ANN News is covering the 2005 Allied States of Axario election this December. We're bringing you the most coverage on this elections candidates, and we've got everything you need to know. Since election day is approaching fast, we're gonna break down the 3 major candidates for you. As you can probably guess, the major issue in this year's election is the war in Danversia. Other important issues of course include stem cell research, gay marriage, and international affairs. Well, here are this years candidates:

Political info: Our current President, Aron Christopher has gotten quite a bit of national support. Many say that he handled the situation in Danversia very well, and he hopes to be able to continue aiding Danversia to "get back on it's feet." He recently proposed a complete and permanent trade embargo with Anapest and any nation that supports Anapest. Although he is held as responsible for the AS being ejected from the UN, he was instrumental in Axario's joining SEATO, which many believe has been invaluable to the AS. He is in favor of increasing the military. He is against legalization of abortion. He is in favor of legalization of stem cell research, but not of government funding for it. He is in favor of keeping capital punishment legal. He is in favor of keeping gay marriage legal. He has done a lot for the country's welfare program, and plans to propose laws that help the poor get jobs to work out of poverty.

Believes Axario should restart the fighting in order to take back the land lost in the war. He supports a trade embargo with Anapest. He believes the ASA is better off without the UN and should further strengthen ties with SEATO. He is in favor of a huge increase in military spending. He is against legalization of abortion. He is against legalization of stem cell research. He is in favor of keeping capital punishment legal. He is against keeping gay marriage legal. He believes Christopher is waisting money on welfare and that all welfare programs should be focused on letting the poor make their own way.

Political Info: Supports Christopher's actions in Danversia, but thinks he may have been too lenient. Calls for increased financial aid to Danversia to help the poor and those set-back by the war. Does not support a full trade embargo, says that trade will allow peace to finally be established. She calls for the ASA to attempt to rejoin the UN and to strengthen economic ties with SEATO nations. She is in favor of a huge decrease in military spending. She is for legalization of abortion. She is for legalization of stem cell research and government funding for it. She is against keeping capital punishment legal. She is for keeping gay marriage legal. She believes more money should be spent on welfare and social security, with a small added emphasis on social equality, though that isn't really an issue in Axario.

Jared: "It's hard to say really, I think the citizens like each of the candidates. The most public support goes to Gates and Christopher, but I think Chaffman draws a lot of support from Corporagia and Langola for his pro-business and pro-military stances."
Anthony: "Hard to say? Not at all! Aron Christopher is the most beloved president in decades; I might even say he's the most beloved president of all time. I think he has the most amount of public support."
Madaline: "Alright, regardless of who the public supports, who would be the best president for Axario? As we've seen in other countries, the public doesn't always elect who's best for them."
Anthony: "At risk of sounding like a Christopher fanatic, I think he would be the best choice. He's done so much for the country, and I can only see him doing more. I think the only really strong point either of the other candidates has is Grant's position on social and economic equality, but she may be going overboard. Christopher has it in the right place: help people, but more importantly, help people onto their feet."
Jared: "I'm actually gonna have to agree with Anthony on this one. Christopher has a stellar record as president and is one of the best we've ever had. I think the UN fiasco will haunt him, but after the investigation, he may be shown to be innocent, who knows?"
Madaline: "Final and most important question, who do you think will win?"
Jared: "Can't say. I predict a toss up between Gates and Christopher, but don't count Chaffman out."
Anthony: "Christopher, no question. I would place my paycheck on his win."

Party Profiles:
Democratic-Republican Party: The D-R Party's official purpose is to bring Axario into a democratic republic, with equal strength in both the states and the federal government. By tradition, however, the D-R has always stood for moderatism (is that a word). D-R candidates usually take middle ground and are neither liberal nor conservative. Not the most popular until recently.

Federalist Party: The F Party's official purpose is to strengthen the federal government and virtually dissolve state sovereignty. Traditionally, the F Party has stood for conservativism. Typically, F candidates have taken very conservative and moral views. The F Party is very similar to the American Republican Party.

Socialist Party: The S Party's official purpose is to restructure the government so it is more focused on complete social and economic policy. Through the years, the S party has been very liberal. Candidates for this party have always supported personal freedoms, economic control, and various socialist programs. The S Party is very much like the American Democratic Party.

A wave of Alexian immigrants happily flee the Empire, settling down in Axiarian cities too enjoy the more free socity.

not really, from what I understand you get a fine for not voting, it's a little different in that this is just a tax cut. I would assume the fine would go on your legal record as this would not.

We wish our response could be a bit more enthusiastic, but as per the existing conflicts in Sarzonia, this does not receive our full attention, as I'm sure you understand. However, I congratulate you, Mr. Christopher, on your re-election to the Presidency of Axario.
