We understand you wish alternative fuel sources for cars. Despite our advanced spacial technology, we too grappled with this recently and came up with a solution well within the tech level of most nations. We use plutonium rods, encased in enough lead to keep radiation from being a danger, as a fuel cell. The natural decay of the plutonium provides both power and fuel, while at the same time you don't have to worry as much about refueling. Just maintenance.
