The Xenizen National Airways Militarized Boeing Business Jet flew towards Risban City. Aboard it was the President of Upper Xen, Gordon Lew, and the kids, Fred and Victoria. The First Lady, Melissa, was unfortunately unable to come (she was at a conference on economic development), but everyone else was excited. They would be taking a goodwill tour of Risban, seeing the sights, and meeting the local leaders. As it approached the airport, it radioed in:
"Risban International, this is Xenizen National Airways ANO#56079, requesting permission to land."
A reply came from the tower.
"Xenizen National Airways ANO#56079, this is Risban International. Permission granted. Please land on stretch seven."
Countess Nora Courtney, the highest-ranking female in the Risban government and one of only two females on the Risban Parliament, awaited at the airport. Foreign Affairs Minister Alexander Perkins was busy with Emperor Robinson Antares Scorpius back at Imperial Palace; some military project in the Caribbean Sea. So, the countess was sent to greet the President and his family and escort them to Imperial Palace, where they would be able to meet the new Emperor of Risban.

The plane landed on stretch seven, taxied into the gate, and after some safety checks, it hooked up with the terminal.
The President stepped out of the plane, along with his kids and some Secret Service guards.
"Remember kids.....be nice."
"Umm...okay." said Fred and Victoria as the family met Countess Courtney. The family bowed, and the President then extended his hand.
"Good day, Countess. I am Gordon Lew, President of Upper Xen, and these are my kids, Fred and Victoria."
"We are honored that you have welcomed us."
The countess shook the President's hand, smiling warmly. "It is an honour to meet you and your children. We are most pleased to have you in our nation," she said. Nora turned towards the children, smiling again and lowering herself slightly. "These are for you two," she said, withdrawing two bars of some of the finest Risban chocolate and handing it to them.
The countess then stood up straight again. "Emperor Scorpius is sorry for not being able to meet you here. He is looking in to a revolution in the nation of Casana at the moment. Now, if you will please follow me..."
He smiled and led the President, his children, and his men out of the airport, where several limosuines waited for them. Countess Courtney smiled, motioning towards a limo. "These will take us to Imperial Palace."

As his kids took the chocolate, they said, "Thanks, ma'am."
The family then followed the Countess to the limousine outside. The President and his kids got in.
When they got in, Fred said, "Dad, what's going to happen now?"
Gordon said, "Simple. We are going to the Imperial Palace."
Victoria chimed in, "Well, Fred, you should have been listening instead of thinking about when the next episode of Love Hina is on."
Fred sighed, and sat there glaring at her. Gordon glared back at them, and they both made peace.
She then continued: "Awesome.....leather seats, a nice sound system.....is this a Cadillac?"
Nora chuckled slightly as she got in, watching the children. "Why yes, Cadillac did provide these limousines for us," she said as the limo began to head towards Risban Imperial Palace.
They drove through Risban City; it was a grand city. Many buildings were structured like those of ancient Rome and Greece, though there were quite a few modern-based building as well. One area of the city, the downtown area, was home to many multi-story buildings. Military police patrolled the streets; crime in Risban was almost nonexistent.
"Now, these large arches we are passing by signify that we are entering the premises of the Imperial Palace," said Countess Courtney as they drove under a three huge marble arches. "Risban Imperial Palace is the largest palacial structure in the world. It is the control centre for our entire military and government, as well as home to our Emperor and his guests. The middle of the palace is a virtual bunker, capable of withstanding a nuclear blast..."

Gordon Lew nodded his head, and then said, "Quite intriguing. I must admit, Risban City is a lovely place."
As they passed under the arches, Gordon and the kids went, "Nice......." The kids soon began roll down the windows to take pictures.
Gordon continued, after hearing Countess Courtney's introduction: "I suppose that our buildings in Upper Xen have many of the same functions. All major government buildings are secured, and have internal bunkers and NBC systems to defend against nuclear attack."
He continued: "I must admit....the way the Imperial Palace seems, it makes the Presidential House-while very stately-seem very plain in comparison. No offense intended, of course."
The countess smiled. "Oh, no offense taken. When the Prometheans-- the founders of Risban-- built the palace, they intended it to be a bit extravagant."
The limo stopped near two great, oak doors. Someone opened the limo door and Countess Nora Courtney stepped out. "Now, we will make our way to Emperor Scorpius' office," she said. As soon as the President and his children stepped out, along with their body guards, the Countess turned and walked through the doors. Imperial High Guards, wearing armor similar that to the ancient Roman Praetorian Guards (of course with upgraded bullet-proof armor and guns, of course), stood at the door. Their green capes held the seal of Risban.
Countess led them rather rapidly through the palace, explaining that they would be able to tour it later. Upon reaching a large elevator, she ushered everyone in. The elevator went up seven floors, then stopped and opened. Countess Courtney led the visitors down a long, marble-floored hall, where Imperial High Guards stood every ten feet along the wall.
"Goodday, Mr. Dimsdale," came a voice from an open door at the end of the hall. A man was being dragged out my two High Guards, looking quite bewildered and wearing Nehmec clothes.
The Countess smiled, stopping at the door. "The Emperor will see you now; please step into his office."

The President and his children stepped into the Emperor's office.
After Gordon and Fred bowed and Victoria curtsied, Gordon said, "Hello, your Highness. I am Gordon Lew, President of Upper Xen. These are my children, Fredrick and Victoria."
Emperor Scorpius smiled, extending his hand to Gordon. "Hello Mr. President. I am Emperor Robinson Antares Scorpius. You can call me Rob. We are most pleased to have you in Risban," he said. The Emperor was actually a rather young man; merely twenty-seven years old.
Scorpius turned after shaking Gordon's hand and looked at his children. "Hello. Welome to Risban! I see that Nora has given you a taste of our chocolate," he said, grinning up at the Countess, who still stood at the doorway.
The Emperor looked back at President Lew as a man walked in. "Mr. President, this is Alexander Perkins, my High Minister of Foreign Affairs."
Minister Perkins, a middle-aged, thin man, extended his hand towards Gordan, wearing a diplomatic smile. "Hello! I'm glad you could make it to our humble little Empire," he said congenially.
Scorpius sat down behind his desk, motioning for the President and his children to have a seat if they would like to. "So, from what little you have seen of Risban, how do you like it so far?" asked the Emperor.

Gordon turned to Minister Perkins and said "My pleasure."
He then turned to the Emperor, smiled and went, "Well, it is very safe, and quite beautiful, Rob."
"Ah, yes... Safety is always one of our top issues," said Scorpius, nodding. "As far as beauty is concerned, we seem to be losing more of our natural beauty and gaining more structural and artistic beauty. However, I have just implemented a new plan where I am attempting to build more gardens and parks. It is working quite nicely right no-"
A man walked in at this point. "Sorry to disturb you, Highness, but Admiral Tarda said that he is ready to deploy troops," said the man.
The Emperor nodded. "Thankyou, General. Inform him to hold off on deployment for now; wait for the People's Liberation Front to do some more damage," he said. The general walked out and Rob looked back at Gordon appoligetically. "Sorry about that; we are currently interfering with a revolution in the nation of Casana. It is giving me a chance to test out our new military and navy."
"And," said Perkins, "it gives us a chance to strengthen diplomacy in the Caribbean area."
"Yes..." the Emperor looked at the children then at President Lew again. "So, how does dinner sound? I'm starving and I hear our cooks have made some excellent steak and burgers tonight."
He stood up, smiling. "Shall we?"
Upper Xen

President Lew said, "By all means....let us go to dinner. Just one question: forgive me if I sound ungrateful, but when we convene again for dinner, Rob, are there any regional specialties you can prepare? I am quite eager to try the local cuisine, and surprisingly, so are the kids."
He chuckled. "Yes, yes... Of course! I'll have the cooks whip up some of their specialties," said Emperor Scorpius. "Minister Perkins and Nora here will bring you to your quarters, where you can get your luggage settled and rest for a little while, and then you'll be led down to dinner. Enjoy your stay in Risban, Mr. President."
The Emperor smiled and hurried off to oversee the beginning of a poll for Head of Parliament.
Countess Courtney smiled. "Again, you'll have to excuse him; he's rather busy," she said.
Alex Perkins nodded in agreement. "Aye; overthrowing a corrupt emperor and establishing a new government isn't as hard as it would sound," he said with a slight chuckle. "Now, shall we?"
The Foreign Affairs Minister exited the room, beginning to walk down the halls. Nora smiled and waited for the President and his children to walk in front of her.

The Countess smiled warmly once they reached their quarters. "Your rooms have satellite televisions which pick up all Risban and International Channels. There are video games in that cupboard beside the TV along with several systems, and a virtual reality pod over there next to that closet. There is a small bar in the kitchenette area. If you need anything, just press that green button near the door and someone will be right up," she said. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I have some Parliamentary matters to deal with before dinner, which will be in about half an hour. Enjoy your stay in the Empire of Risban." She smiled again, waved to the children, and then left.
Foreign Affairs Minister Alexander Perkins, however, remained. "Do you mind if I keep you company? I wish to further discuss diplomatic relations between Risban and Upper Xen," Alex said.

President Lew said, "By all means, Mr. Perkins....that is one of our goals here."
Meanwhile, Fred and Victoria went to their seperate rooms.
Fred was quite surprised at the opulence of it.....he looked around the room, and after several moments, and unpacking his things, he pulled out the Okama Gamesphere and began to play "Bow Bow Footy Kick Mark 2," the new game that was all the rage in Upper Xen (besides the Half-Life series, of course). "Nice....I like the way these guys think! Now Motoko, feel the power of Hans' Teutonic Fist!"
As Fred was playing his fighting game, Victoria sat in her room, and after unpacking, she looked around the room. After noticing that there was not an issue of Car and Driver to be found (she did enjoy the plethora of racing games and FPS's stored in the closet), she pushed the green attendants' button.
Perkins nodded. "Thankyou, Mr. President," he said, taking a seat. "So, where shall we begin? Perhaps you have questions concerning Risban..?"
A dwarven man wearing a Risban Imperial Suit ran up to Victoria's room, arriving only eighteen seconds after she pressed the button. Panting slightly, he peeked his head into the room. "Yes, miss? Is there something you needed?"
Upper Xen

Victoria said, "Hmm....do you have a library? And if it does, does it archive Car and Driver Magazine?"
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Gordon went, "Well, for starters, I was thinking we could open some kind of trade agreement. Perhaps an agreement to lower tariffs would be an important first step."
He went on, "Also, I was thinking that if that's not possible, then why not a joint venture? Perhaps a joint surface ship design?"
The dwarven man nodded. "Yes, miss. We have an extremely large library in Imperial Palace; the Emperor enjoys book. We do have an automobile section and a modern magazine section, both located on the second floor of the library, I believe," he went on. "Would you like to go there, miss?"
Minister Perkins nodded. "Yes, I believe that our trade minister spoke with your Secretary of State and had already come up with a list of what we can import and export to Upper Xen. And, for allies, there is only a 2% tax on anything we export," said Alexander. "This ship design... It intrigues me. Care to explain more on exactly what it is?"
Upper Xen

"Yes, please" Victoria said.
---------------------------------------------------
President Lew went, "I like the sound of that tax level, care to show me that list of goods?"
"Well, I am proposing a new guided missile and ASW cruiser...it will definetly try to maximize stealth....and utilize some form of trimaran support system. We have not formalized a design as of yet.....but I feel that we will need it to be very useful."
"Very well, miss," said the dwarven man, turning and beginning to walk down a hall. "This way, miss."
He led her down a hall, into an elevator, down a floor, through two more halls, and then walked her into a large library, where several others were sitting around reading. "Here we are, miss," said the dwarf.
"I'll have that list brought up," Alexander said, punching something into his beeper.
Minister Perkins nodded, stroking his chin. "As for this ship, I think it's a marvelous idea. Since Emperor Scorpius, under the advice of Admiral Tarda and General Lucas, has been pouring much of Risbanian tax dollars into military projects, I'm sure we would be able to co-fund an operation such as this with Upper Xen. And, since all of Risban's territories border an ocean or sea, we have plenty of room for Risban's and Upper Xen's scientists and military experts to test things," he said excitedly, the idea catching his interest.

Victoria said, "Thank you." She then asked, "Where is the card catalog?"
------------------------------------------------------------------
Gordon went, "Glad to hear that. Our Chief Of Staff Admiral Nomura and Defense Secretary Takeda have also been looking for new concepts...we did make a new sub, and we are making an SDI network-but we definietly need a new surface ship to replace our venerable, but somewhat aging Oliver Hazard Perry and AEGIS units. I think the National Shipyards would be very capable, especially since we've acquired nano-carbon chainmail-a very versatile and useful form of protective armor that we have been adapting and upgrading. We could share it with you if you'd like."
The dwarven man, Phineas was his name, led Victoria to a computer against a wall. "Computerized, miss. Type in the book, and it will tell you where to look."
Minister Perkins nodded. "Risban would be most happy to purchase this armor. Unfortunately, we do not have too much technology as of yet since we are a fairly new government. However, we have hoards of uranium that we are both mining, buying, and getting. We plan on using this someway, not just for weapons. Also, we do have on special proto-type vessel in our navy; a Class I Risban Command Cruiser. I would bring you to tour it, but Grand Admiral Tarda used it to lead the First Fleet-- mostly British-style ships --to Casana. It is a strong ship and cost Risban a fortune to create. We would be willing to give you the designs," he went on. "Currently, we have our scientists working on small projects. The one with the most funding it a new type of sword. Odd, I know... But, they're trying to reintroduce the sword into the modern world. They are using a special kind of metal along with a battery to make the sword a little bit like a stun baton. From what I can tell, it will most likely only make its way to the Risban High Imperial Guard and the military commanders, not the military itself. Other than that, Emperor Scorpius is letting funds flow in spy technology, a new type of sniper rifle, and our navy. He seems to be neglecting our airforce at the moment..."

Victoria went, "Thanks." She walked to the computerized card catalog, and began to look up books on cars.
After noting the results...she took down the call numbers, and began searching.
------------------------------------------------------
Gordon went: "Hmm...it's alright....we might not need the uranium, we have a supplier. However, if you do have a surplus, our substantial network of nuclear reactors might find good use for any excess you might have. Otherwise, we could take any other goods you might offer to pay for the nano-carbon chainmail. It is, again, not an indeginous design, but we have modified it somewhat. Also, we can offer you practical hydrogen fuel cell and halfnium aircraft engines...those are free, part of our 'Atoms for Peace' program."
"Hmm...what was that? The Class I Risban Command Cruiser? This is very interesting...."
Phineas turned and began conversing with the librarian over the current poll results of the Parliamentary Election.
Perkins nodded. "Yes, we will take what you have, and sell some of our surplus uranium to get extra money for any projects," he said. "As for the Command Cruiser, once it is again docked in a Risban port, we will allow you people to come and inspect it. We plan on making four more within the next two years, one for each fleet we are slowly creating."
At this point, a man came in with a list. "Here is the trade list to Upper Xen, Minister," he said, haning it to Perkins, bowing slightly to the President, and then running out.
"Ah, excellent. Here you are, Mr. President." Alex set the list out.
What we can export to Upper Xen:
Automobiles (Our nation's automobile industry is currently booming)
Natural Gas
Beef Products
Gold
Uranium, if needed.
Woven baskets, if needed.
Where we wish to import from Upper Xen:
Iron Ore
Merucury
Zinc
Rice
Sugarcane

Victoria began to sit down and read the books on cars she had taken out. She found them to be quite intriguing, and asked a librarian, "Do you have any Xerox machines?"
"Uranium 238 or Uranium 235?" inquired Perkins.
"And, once the ship is back in Risban waters, we'll invite you to return to tour the ship," he said. His cellphone rang. "Excuse me one moment..."
He stepped aside, picking up the cellphone. "Yes?... Four nations in 24 hours? How odd. Have Zeriok look into it.... The Countess? Excellent!... Yes, yes. We'll be right down."
The Foreign Affairs Minister turned the phone off and looked at President Lew, smiling. "Well, dinner is prepared and we are to head to the Grand Dining Hall. The Hall will be crowded thisevening; a lot of Parliament and the Imperial Aristocracy will be there, along with several of Risban's top scientists and some military officials. They're gathering to meet with the Emperor over several things, as well as celebrate Countess Courtney's rise to Head of Parliament," he said, sounding rather excited. "Oh, you're to sit to the left of the Emperor, and your children with you if you'd like."
The librarian glanced at Victoria for a moment before pointing over to a door that led into a small office. "In there," she said.
Phineas, at this time, had gone out to do some more errands.

Our nuclear weapons abliities are restricted to SSBN's and bombers....they are more mobile, and useful than silos, at least to us. And thanks for the dinner offer, I think it will be wonderful."
----------------------------------------------------------------
Victoria wandered into the Xerox room. Looking at the machines, she began to organize the book carefully on the unit, inserted a coin, and began the process.
"Very good then! I'll have Sub-Minister Thrantir get some ready for Upper Xen," said Alexander Perkins. "Now, let's go find your children and make our way to dinner."

Phineas ran up to the President and his family. "Hello! Don't want you all getting lost now, do we? Heheh. This way."

James Ormiv (http://www.mediabistro.com/content/archives/04/01/20/skyler.jpg), Press Secretary for Emperor Scorpius, walked over fixing his tie. "Hello, President Lew... Emperor Scorpius, everyone's here. Are we ready?"
Rob nodded. "Yes, yes. The President here and his family will be joining us. I have him sitting on my left."
Ormiv nodded and scurried off. Moments later, a small group of people arrived.
Grand General Charles Lucas (http://www.nps.gov/frsp/images/lee.jpg) led the group, not looking rather pleased at all. He merely nodded to President Lew, bowed slightly to Emperor Scorpius, and then got in place for the procession.
Cardinal James Kliptnock (http://www.lifeinlegacy.com/2004/0214/RossiOpilio.jpg) came next. He was the only priest on Parliament, and had run for Head, losing. But, he kept in good spirits. "Hello, President Lew! It is an honor for you and your family to be here. God bless," he said, turning towards the Emperor. He nodded and took his place.
Lord William Plutus (http://www.todayinliterature.com/assets/portraits/b/lord-byron-190x257.jpg) came next, sighing. He extended his hand to President Lew. "Nice to meet you," he said. Upon shaking his hand, he bowed to Rob and took his place.
Countess Nora Courtney (http://www.superiorpics.com/sarah_michelle_gellar/images/sarah005.jpg) came next, a large smile on her face. Upon seeing the President and his kids, her smile grew. "Hello! Are you all enjoying your time here?" she asked. She looked at Victoria and Fred. "How'd you like the chocolate?"
Ormiv ran over, grabbing the Countess and pulling her next to the Emperor. "Pleasantries during dinner. We're running late! President Lew, you and your family will be right behind the Emperor and Countess. General, Lord Plutus, and Cardinal, you will all follow in a single line. Colonel Steele, Minister Thrantir, and Minister Perkins will follow behind you," instructed the Press Secretary as the colonel and ministers arrived.
Scorpius chuckled, extending his arm to the Countess, who placed her arm around his.
An herald announced: "Attention. Presenting the excellency Emperor Robinson Antares Scorpius. With him is the honored Countess Nora Courtney, newly elected Head of Parliament!"
Rob and Nora walked in, smiling at the cameras and saying hello to a few people along the way to their table.
Herald: "Presenting our honourable guest President Gordon Lew of Upper Xen and his children Victoria and Fred!"
Press Secretary Ormiv glanced at Gordon and his kids. "Alright. Your turn. I'm sure you know what to do," he said, chuckling slightly. "Remember, Mr. President, you're on the Emperor's left."

The President and his kids walked in, following Rob and Nora, cautiously but surely. Ceremony was not Gordon's strong suit, and he knew that any mistake might embarass himself and the Xenizen Republic.
Still, he persevered, and walked in with good cheer. Smiling to the cameras, and minding his steps, he negotiated his way to the left of the Emperor, and sat down gracefully. His kids did the same thing, and they waited for the next group of people.
General Lucas followed, sitting beside President Lew and his family. The remainder of the officials went on, except for Perkins who was called away on duty. Emperor Scorpius stood, gazing around at the guests and cameras. "Ladies and gentlemen, we are gathered her tonight to honour Countess Nora Courtney for her victory in the elections. She is the new head of the Risban Imperial Parliament; Prime Ministress to the Emperor!"
The Countess stood and people applauded. Once she retook her seat, Rob continued. "We also have some other guests here tonight. May I introduce the Xenizen President: Gordon Lew."
The Emperor smiled, motioning for Gordon to stand.

Some of the specialties included Risban Salad, the Risban-Promethean Heat Steak, many native fish specialties, and Risban's very own Imperial Wine, made from Risbanian grapes.
The Emperor glanced at Gordon, smiling as he helped himself to some steak. "You should try the wine; it's excellent," Rob said as he got some salad as well. "So, I was wondering what the Xenizen space program is like. Is it developed at all? We're just developing our... We have hopes of perhaps building a science-oriented and military-oriented space station...."

Emperor Scorpius said a little bit more and then took his seat. Chatter began once again in the hall, and the food was served.
Holy Paradise gave us a lot of funding to send out some satellites to investigate a possible new planet, you see. We have hopes of perhaps building a science-oriented and military-oriented space station...."
Gordon smiled, ate his food, and went, "We have a very robust space program, with the capacity to deploy manned and unmanned missions into orbit. Right now, we are developing a joint space plane with the nation of Kyanges, though as of last report they have been visited by unusual peoples of high technology....but still we have been discussing designs. We have Long March New Generation rockets, and use them to deploy sattelites and our Kleiner-class manned unit, based on the Soyuz series-only we just gave it a lot of touch ups and tech upgrades, and made it larger-into orbit. We are very proud of them. Still, the Kleiner-now in its 6th Generation-is very old, and the time has come to replace it."
The Emperor smiled as he ate. "Well, that's all very good! We'll take that old thing off your hands if you're going to get rid of it. It would of use to us," he said. Then his attention was turned to the Countess, who was speaking with some lord about Artificial Intellignece Rights. Scorpius could not help but join in.
General Charles Lucas took the advantage to lean towards Gordon and speak. "President Lew, are you enjoying your stay here so far?"

Gordon smiled and went, "General Lucas, it has been great....I have found the people of Risban to be very hospitable, and friendly. And the food is, quite simply, awesome."
The Grand General nodded. "How very nice. Now, I must ask that you leave the Empire," Lucas said quietly, leaning closer to the Xenizen President. "You aren't going to want to be here during the next 48 hours, especially for the safety of your children."
His voice was barely audible; he, obviously, did not feel like sharing this secret aloud.

Holy c**p he thought. The man must be involved in or know about a revolution.........
Gordon was shocked, but he merely sat back and ate his food. Fred leaned over and went, "Dad, are you ok?"
Gordon went, "Yes, son." He returned to his food, chewing thoughtfully.
"Make up some excuse to leave suddenly," continued the Grand General. "And, for your own safety, I wouldn't tell anyone anything."
With that said, General Lucas returned to his meal and conversation with Colonel Antonin Steele of the Imperial High Guard.
Emperor Scorpius was now debating a recent archaeological discovery with a contractor. An ancient temple that was built in honor of the Great Scorpion had been uncovered, and the Emperor had made it illegal to build anything over it except a museum. The contractor, on the other hand, wanted to build a new seven-story mall.

The President thought long and hard. "Should I get out, or stay and bulk up security?"
He was eating his meal, thoughfuly and with ill ease. "Okay......" he thought, "This is getting creepy."
He decided to calm down, finish eating, and solve this later.
After a while, the Emperor had long been finished eating, and everyone else was ending their meals. Rob turned and looked at Gordon, smiling. "Care to join me and some others in one of our smaller parlors for desert?"
General Lucas glanced over at the President and the Emperor as the latter asked a question.

Gordon went, "I'd love to."
Then, as he and the kids began to follow Rob, he contemplated whther to tell him of the threat General Lucas had told him.
The Emperor chuckled. "Of course you can!"
The Risban Imperial Grand General's eyes narrowed slightly, but he said nothing.
Rob stood up, and the room fell silent as all eyes turned on the Emperor. "My friends, allies, guests, and employees," he said. "I thank all of you for being able to attend this dinner tonight. This is the first time all of us have been gathered together in a festive setting since my becoming Emperor. Felt nice, didn't it?"
The Emperor chuckled and a few others around the hall did too. "The next time most of us will be gathered together is during the tricentennial anniversary of our great nation. For the past three hundred years, Risban had slowly grew to what it is today. We have made ourselves known in the world and are building healthy relationships with foreign countries, as our honoured guests from Upper Xen can show," said Emperor Scorpius, motioning towards Gordon and his children. The Emperor raised his wine goblet to the room. "To the Empire of Risban. May our people live and prosper."

Gordon raised his glass, too. "To Risban and its people! May God bless them, and may God preserve their Emperor."
Rob took a drink, as did others. "Goodevening, everyone."
The Emperor turned, glancing at Gordon. "Alright. Let's be off then!"
He smiled and turned, making his way to a side exit. Countess Courtney, Colonel Steele, Cardinal Kliptnock, Lord Plutus, and Press Secretary Ormiv.
General Lucas leaned towards Gordon, whispering. "Now's your chance, Mr. President. I suggest you take it. The Emperor will be understanding if something were to come up back in your nation."

Gordon smiled, and thought to himself: "Good thing I served in the CRF......I have commando training, and I take my kids to the range every other week, so I think I can survive."
He and his kids followed the crowd, and as they went, Gordon whispered as quietly as he could to them, "Kids....I think General Lucas is plotting something, or knows something we don't. Be on your guard."
Fred and Victoria nodded, and followed their dad to a room where everybody was commisserating. He then said, "Hello again, Rob."
General Lucas' eyes narrowed. He pulled out a cellphone and backed into a corner, dialing something. "The Xenizen President isn't leaving."
"This isn't good, Charles," came a voice from the other side. "We don't need to completely ruin foreign relations."
"I know. I'll proceed with plan and just make sure that someone is preoccupying President Lew while we move in," responded the Grand General. He proceeded to hang up and walk to where the others had gathered.
Emperor Scorpius smiled. "Ah! Mr. President. Welcome. Have a seat. We have an assortment of Risban chocolates, as well as some tea, coffee, and brandy," he said, motioning towards a table. "Help yourself to a cigar too if you want!"
Countess Courtney was sitting down, sipping some tea, and speaking with Colonel Steele. Cardinal Kliptnock was arguing with Lord Plutus and Press Secretary Ormiv about making Catholicism the official religion of Risban.
General Lucas walked in, bowing slightly to the Emperor and ignoring the President. He walked to the table and helped himself to some coffee.

OOC: Apologies for the longwinded and possibly godmodish nature of this post.
Gordon went, "Thank you Rob....you have been great. A very gracious host indeed. I have to return the favor sometime."
He then walked to the table, and helped himself to a cup of coffee and some chocolates.
He then noticed Lucas and his suspicious activity. He grew nervous.
He is definetly planning something, he thought. You won't get me.....not while I'm here.
He told Rob, "Excuse Me....I have to use the bathroom."
Rob nodded, and Gordon then went into the bathroom. Going into one of the stalls, and speaking in a low, whispering voice, he called Jimmy, his elite bodyguard, on station in his quarters. Normally guarding the President's House, he instead followed the President to Risban. He had been left out of the past hours' wining and dining, but now........
"Jimmy? I might need you to come here. I know you like reading and stuff, but I feel this is serious."
Jimmy responded, "Why the low tone?"
Gordon then said, "Well.....I think one of the generals may want to do something to me or the Emperor. I need your help, man."
Jimmy sighed, and went, "Okay, sir, I'll be right there."
Jimmy got up, and walked carefully to the event. Gordon, meanwhile, returned to the dining area carefully, flusing the toilet to make things seem normal.
Stepping into the room, Gordon smiled and went, "So...you gotta hand it to those confectioners......they make a good choclate. Why didn't you say they would be so good?"
At the same time, Jimmy arrived. "Oh hey, Rob, here is someone I'd like you to meet....this is Jimmy, my close friend and bodyguard."
Jimmy extended his hand reluctantly, and said, "How are you doing, sir?"
Emperor Scorpius smiled, shaking Jimmy's hand. "A pleasure to meet you... A bodyguard, you say? My, then I'm sure you'd get along with Colonel Steele..."
The Emperor looked over his shoulder. "Antonin, come here," he called. The Colonel strolled over, nodding to President Lew. "This is Colonel Antonin Steele. He's head of the Imperial High Guard-- my personal guards and the protectors of my high officials. They're the people in the silver armour stationed around the palace."
Colonel Steele nodded, shaking both Gordon's and Jimmy's hands. "It's a pleasure to meet you both."
General Lucas, at this point, strolled over. "Sorry for interrupting... M'lord, James told me that you still haven't signed off on those documents yet for the press release."
Rob frowned slightly. "Oh, bah! I'll pet them off until tomorrow," he said, waving a hand dismissevly.
"Sire, you know how Ormiv gets when these things are late," said Colonel Steele. "Plus, he's already told the press that he'd have it ready by tomorrow."
"Yes, yes..." The Emperor sighed, rubbing his head as he cast a glance over at the Press Secretary. He looked at Gordon apologetically. "Well, duty calls. I'll arrange for someone to give you a nice tour of Risban National Park tomorrow, as well as some of our more historic sites."

Gordon nodded. "Well, when you have work to do, it's gotta get done. Good luck."
He then turned to Jimmy, and whispered to him, "Eyes wide."
Jimmy went, "Dude, relax. You're being paranoid again......."
Gordon said, "I know, but...."
Jimmy said, "Alright."
As Gordon went to get more chocolates, Jimmy turned to Antonin, and said, "So, Colonel Steele, how's it like running the High Guard?"
Emperor Scorpius smiled and walked off, followed by Lucas and Ormiv.
The Colonel glanced at Jimmy, smiling slightly. "Oh, grand. The Imperial High Guard is one of the most ancient groups in Risban; still in existence, that is. Our men wear modern armour based on that of the old Roman Praetorian Guards.... I was given this position by Emperor Scorpius shortly after we overthrow Emperor Tarda. It seemed that the High Guard was more loyal to the Scorpius bloodline than the Tarda bloodline," explained Colonel Steele.

Jimmy went, "Intriguing. My job...well, compared to yours, is much more mundane, if just as hectic. I was hired to watch over the President's House, and head the Secret Service, though I eventually quit the job as head because it was very tiring. Now, I am simply head bodyguard.....and we get to play with some cool toys."
Antonin chuckled. "Ah, yes. Toys are always fun. Emperor Scorpius is a fan of swords, and recently funded a new type of blade-invention that will be allowed use excusively for High Guards and the Imperial Military Leaders. Then we always get to test the new guns and such," he said. Then, looking at his watch, he sighed. "Well, I, er, must be off. I have some.... business. Goodday, and nice meeting you!"
Without another word, Colonel Antonin Steele of the Imperial High Guard turned and left.
Cardinal Kilptnock looked up, seeing Gordon, and called out across the table. "Mr. President, what is the largest religion in Upper Xen?"
Upper Xen

Gordon replied, "Well, we maintain a policy of religious plurality, but so far, Buddhism, Russian Orthodox Christianity, and American Baptist Christianity (known in Upper Xen as the Xenizen Baptist Convention) seem to be the big religions so far. Have you heard of Archbishop Batov, head of the Russian Orhodox Church of Upper Xen, by any chance?"
"Ah, yes. The five main religions in the Empire of Risban are Risban Religion (worships several ancient gods), Roman Catholic, Judaism, Russian Orthodox, and the Cult of the Great Scorpion.
The Cardinal nodded. "Why, yes I have. I came into contact with Batov during that business with Czar Fabus. He's a good man."

Gordon said, "Ah yes....Batov is intelligent, a good man, if a bit controversial, and he is very outspoken. The man does get on my nerves occasionally, but he is quite honorable......no joke, he has never gotten into trouble with the police or the Special Branch investigators. And, he is a good ally to have in a fight....I actually know him too, he makes friends easily. Very jovial. A funfact: he is actually the younger brother of the military head of the Committee of Vigilance. However, they do not speak often......."
"Ah! Risban is a member of the CoV. In fact, I believe we house one of their military bases," said the Cardinal. "I think it's a fairly decent organiza-"
Cardinal Kliptnock stopped speaking, as did everyone else in the room, when the dwarven man, Phineas, came screaming down the hall. Imperial High Guards, only seconds later, were seen running the opposite direction.
"How odd," said Lord Plutus from his seat. "Phineas probably bumped into the scorpion cage again and let 'em all go."
Countess Courtney frowned. "If it was scorpions that fell over, then why are the guards pulling their guns out...?"
Seconds later, an explosion rocked another part of the palace. It caused the dessert parlor to shake slightly, and sent several of those within holding their heads.
The Cardinal's eyes widened slightly and he walked to a window, gazing across the courtyard; the guest quarters of the palace was engulfed in flames, and part of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was blown away. "God help us..." he muttered under his breath.
A High Guard ran in. "The Emperor has been taken hostage (http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=380281) in his office! We're locking the building down."

Gordon said, "Holy S**t. Lucas was up to something, but I thought it would involve my death.......looks like I'm in the soup now."
Jimmy said, "I got Bob-o and Jock...they are coming quickly."
"Good," said Gordon. "Jimmy, do you have anything?"
Jimmy said, "I think Jock has a spare MAC-10. Try that."
Gordon said, "Good. I'll need all the help I can get."
Fred went, "Dad, What the hell is going on?"
Victoria nodded her head, and concured.
Gordon said, "Son, the Emperor has been taken hostage. Jimmy and I will hang out here, and I want you to stay with us. If the rebels try to kill us, remember all those hours you spent on the range.....they will be useful now."
