OOC: No it can't. Not unless you want to create a 'dirty bomb', which are actually remarkably ineffective and rather pointless considering the fact that Uranium is so easy to get on NS. All nuclear waste does is sit there doing damage to the environment and people in the immediate vicinity.

EDIT: It is actually solid, not liquid. It isnt some kind of green sludge like in cartoons.

Because of its radition through alternate means of using bacteria to stimulate production and mutation to create chemical energy which is then converted into electrical energy so that it can be used to power many applicanes. Sure it is a long and complex problem, but it is a solution to harmful radiation. We are still testing the reactor at the moment.
