This conversation occurred at the signing of the peace treaty at Cherry Ridge. I made this thread so as not to clutter the origional Thread with our conversation.

The origional thread can be found here:

OOC: Timeline-wise, this takes place several years before current in DLE history. The country as a whole has kept advancing since then, but it helps to have that time as a reference point.

IC:

Acting Dictator Soybayun smiled as she approached the Balroggan representative. The recent signing of the Cherry Ridge treaty, combined with her actions with Crazed Marines and the diplomatic opportunity she'd take there, made life interesting. But now, she needed to find out what was going on with her people.

"So, what news do you have for me? How is my ship and how are my people?" Soybayun asked.

The Mechanical Telepath has determined the problem seems to be external to the drive and the mathematics that provide it to operate. It’s as if there is something being aimed at it causing the interference. We are going to bring in more sensors to see if we can detect the direction. We would like to examine the mathematical formulation to see if there could be an adjustment made that would allow the function without the fluctuations.

The medical personal cannot figure out what is actually happening. There seems to be an infection of a sort but it seems to be adjusting itself as the crewman’s body adjusts due to the Change. It seems to be related to some neurological disorders we have documented on Terra but the cause is tied to the host and changing along with the host. It also appears to be tied to your specific body chemistry so it would not be contagious to anyone but it all depends how the illness morphs over time. We are still investigating and running tests using the portable lab we brought along.

The Change you are going through seems to be tied to your Eldritch Legacy you possess as a race. It appears as if you are changing both physically and metaphysically. There appears to be several end results which might be available to you. It all depends on where you are taken. We will see if there is any way to influence the nature of the Change.

Is there anything else I can do? Just let me know.

The mathematics? Go ahead. If that destabilizes, we may have a severe problem. Or we may not. In any case, I want to know the cause and am willing to accept your help.

The crewmate undergoing viral changes will be watched carefully. We will, however, need your help with the Change to adapt our people to their new abilities and create rules to help regulate the powers being unlocked. More I am not sure of saying at this time. Not everyone I want to have the chance to hear.

I will have the mathematics checked and run through a few different variations to see if they will fix the fluctuation problem. The sensor grid will be flown in immediately and set up within the hour. If the problem is caused by an outside source, then we will at the very least get a direction.

The samles your crewman donated will be studied carefully. At this moment they are undergoing a carefully run battery of DNA tests to map any changes he might be undergoing. We will compare the results with new samples taken periodically.

The education of your citizens will be an honored task of the Empire. We are willing to set up schools upon your home world for this purpose or teach in ones you set up. We would also be willing to use the same idea we had for Cherry Ridge and send a few converted carriers to use as universities if you wish. The ships would be unarmed, of course. They would need an escort for this reason and can meet you at the edge of your borders.

As far as rules to help govern the powers, I suppose the apprentice/master system of old would do fine for some of the rural areas but the college method to control what the student learns might be best.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

Sadly, an organized school system is a bad idea with my nation. The people do not take advantage of the one already in place and there are rumors of it being abolished. But a system of masters and apprentices would work, as that is what most of our education system amounts to anyway.

I look forward to more news on the other items and, perhaps, the comedy of when the Siesatians meet our national animal.

We can provide a system of masters to teach the first wave of students until you have enough masters of your own. After that we can provide higher masters for them to learn more from.

Chrystal looked up at Soybayun, taking in her full height.

"Is there anything else we might be able to help with?"

"Perhaps we could try to map your un-mapable region with our sensors. I know nobody has been able to but it would be worth a try. "

She seemed distracted for a moment and then looked back at Soybayun.

"The Cyberpsi has just contacted me. It appears there are temporal energies interfering with your drive. It makes sense since you said you also experienced this near black holes where time and space are affected by the singularity. He is trying to isolate the interference and determine where it is originating."

“We are still running the tests on your crewman.”

"Your help is appreciated in both departments."

"You can try. What we have so far determined is the effect may be unnatural to the region, but all evidence points otherwise right now."

"Temporal energies? As in time distortions? That explains why we can't use them near certain types of gravity distortions but can around others. We will need to adjust in a way to protect against that in the future."

"Please let me know what you find of my crewman. I don't need her comming down with something overly contagious."
