The Fiefdom of Nemh is a primitive culture that has been contaminated by 20th and 21st century technology, although mostly in its ancient city of Drachmar, consequently the ONLY city on the island. The people there, a cross of an ancient, unknown culture and viking and celtic peoples who sailed to the island, were up until 35 years ago merely shepherds, goatherds and fishermen living in isolation from the rest of the world. It was merely by accident that an oil tycoon, checking upon progress of a new, high tech off-shore oil drilling platform, discovered the small island. For reasons unknown, the tycoon began developing the island, mainly Drachmar, giving the natives plumbing, electricity, refrigeration, cars and other things considered the "basics" on a civilised infrastructure. When geologists subsequently found uranium on the island, he immediately developed a colony within Drachmar, bringing many other technologies, including space technology and weapons and cloning, to the island. The population also changed from predominantly Nemhec to an overwhelming population of foreign origin. Less than five percent of Drachmar's population is Nemhec, with most of the Nemhec population of the island living beyond Drachmar's limits in the interior as goatherds, shepherds and fishermen. The Nemhec nobility, a handful of Thanes led by an Overlord, continue to hold leadership over the island. With the threat of Christianity and Islam faiths superceding their own pagan worship, the current Thanes have tried to pull the reins on people coming to settle on their island.
