Join the SEATO's cousin, the PRA!

Like many others, the Pacific Rim Alliance is based upon NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) and the SEATO alliance. Each member of this pact is obliged to aid any other member nation that is threatened or attacked by a non-member. This is also an economic alliance, with a small priority placed on inter-nation trade.

This alliance is designed to include anyone not qualified to join other regional alliances. Any moderate nation that places the safety of itself and its allies as a priority is welcome to join as long as:

they agree to the terms above
are willing to cooperate with other nations in the alliance that do not share their political beliefs
are on or around the RL Pacific Rim.

Headquarters of the PRA will be in Timiocato, the capital of Pacitalia. Member nations can apply for one of six secondary offices to be put in their nation.

I hope you will consider joining this alliance.

Member Nations
Pacitalia (founder, host to main headquarters)
Roach-Busters (host to secondary headquarters)
Risban
Tylinoa
Commandoes
Unified Bubnor
Axario
Federal Republic of Canada

Wouldnt the differing political makeup of the PRA, it's decision to allow any and all into it's midst, lead to possible conflict over matters of grave importance? I believe you must be either all left, centre or all right, but you cannot be eveything. It just wouldnt work.

Thank you for bringing that up. Of course, that's what we thought when we considered the alliance, but the point of the PRA is to bring together nations even if they differ on beliefs; we don't want to push nations further apart by creating one-sided alliances.

Basically, if you don't feel you could cooperate with a nation that doesn't share your beliefs even if it ended up doing them a favour, you don't have to join.

OOC: One question: What if the defending nation brought it upon themselves?(like attacking a far bigger nation or something)?
Pacitalia
25-11-2004, 03:46
Then we are obligated to help the defending nation, even if it's right or wrong. There's no minimum on how many forces or how much equipment you should send, so if you don't agree, send one brigade of men and two tanks. You're only obligated to help, you're not obligated to send this many men and this much equipment.

Hmm, well, I don't know if the PRA would need a website JUST yet. If we do, I'd rather make it from scratch. But thanks for the offer. :)

Tylinoa and Commandoes: Welcome to the PRA! Would you like to be host to one of the secondary headquarters?

Official Imperial Statement

As a proud member of SEATO, the Empire can do nothing but protest this farce of an organization most heartily. The alliance seeks only to undermine the proud members of SEATO through economic backstabbing, political intrigue, and general bureaucratic incompetance. The Empire warns all nations considering joining this despicable congregation.

Are you close to it? If not, we still might be able to make an exception.

As a proud member of SEATO, the Empire can do nothing..

Well, if the creator of SEATO is willing to join, that's saying something, isn't it? And I wouldn't call it economic backstabbing myself. How is a small amount of trade "backstabbing"?
Unified Bubnor
27-11-2004, 22:43
Unified Bubnor wishes to end her isolation and join the greater community of nations.

The PRA seems like a decent enough place to do this.

I'd place my nation somewhere around southern europe-ish, maybe a little east of that, but not the pacific

OOC: Lol, the farthest possible from the Pacific, of course.

IC: I'll talk to the others of the alliance and see if they have a problem with it or not. I certainly don't.
