Meh, screw it. Elections are such a waste. Why bother?

"Congress is deeply divided over this statement. Many applaud this move- others strongly denounce it. The public itself is divided almost 50/50 over this issue. There are no lukewarm opinions of this issue. Everyone either backs this decision unwaveringly, or opposes it entirely. There will be additional coverage of this soon. Upon hearing the message that elections were outlawed in Roach-Busters, Emperor Scorpius of the Empire of Risban sent the following telegram.

In Risban, most of the people are happy. They live their lives peacefully as long as they don't step out of line. And, the Empire of Risban is tolerant of all religions so long as they are not too extremist, like snake-worshiping.

Freedom of speech, freedom of the press, freedom of religion, right to bear arms, habeus corpus, innocent until proven guilty, free enterprise, etc., will all be retained, as will congressional and judicial elections. Citizens will still be allowed to protest, hold referendums, and will still play a key role in shaping RB's laws and politics. Only presidential elections will be outlawed.

We are pleased Roach Busters have joined the enlightened nations of the world in doing away with pointless elections. Elections are complex and give people who know absolutley nothing the chance to ruin a great nation. Parthia does not and will not have elections for that very reason.

Well, I don't see why you don't just concider a system which is more based around the principal of a President for life, where instead of holding elections every four or five years you simply hold an election whenever the President retires or dies. That election would need further scutiny of course because the term is increased to the point where it would be vital to make sure it's not a fix, however just because someone is president for life doesn't mean that there cannot be some form of "vote of no-confidence" within your congress. Should he get out of line the congress could remove him from power and call a new election, providing they had an almost complete majority in such a vote of no-confidence.

These changes would eliminate the need to run numberous elections, without moving towards a dictatorship.

Of course, Iuthia has no issues with other nations becoming Dictatorships, the system is preferable in our eyes though we know through experience of the issues which could be raised... however it encourages fast decisions and a true leader of the nation itself.

Whatever the choice, we hope our advise is taken well.

Damn and blatha! You were doing so well and then BOOM! A step in the wrong direction. Not that we have national elections oh no. Our elections are inside the clans and then those that were elected work to make their clan powerful and then they assume the mantle of High Ruler or King. Of course elections are few and terms are mostly until someone dies, retires, or is shamed out of office.
