Dranburg

In the late 1990’s Dranburg began reassessing defense and security policy. Our nation had long been ascending to the first world. This ascension was led by an economic boom. The additional government funds created by this economic growth quickly spread to other sectors – welfare, education, etc. This ‘first world’ development led Dranburg’s leading defense and security officials to advocate military modernizations, in order to protect the ever bourgeoning state.
This policy of strategic modernization concentrated primarily on the DIA (Dranburg Imperial Army), DIAF (Dranburg Imperial Air Force) and DICG (Dranburg Imperial Coast Guard). As our military forces became increasingly lethal and modern, it became Dranburg policy to recalibrate the nature of our armed forces. We desired not only modern forces, but forces sufficiently capable of offensive operations. Previously, Dranburg only had the resources to main a military force prepared for essential defensive operations.
An central element of imbuing our armed forces with an offensive capability was developing a modern navy, rather than simply a coast guard. Despite extensive theorization and debate, it was concluded that Dranburg hadn’t the experience with major naval operations to effectively create a desired naval force structure. The “Cadius Fleet” was born.
It was decided our nation would create a modern naval fleet consisting of the following:
1 nuclear powered aircraft carrier (carrying 78 combat aircraft and 6 AWACS)
2. a wolf pack (3) of three nuclear powered submarines
3. four supporting nuclear powered guided missile destroyed
4. 8 other mid to low-tonnage class combat vessels
this fleet was intended to serve as a naval experiment, to test various theories and tactics. What was proven effective would therefore serve as a basis for creating three more battle group, and thus truly establishing Dranburg’s naval power.
Two days ago, Dranburg intelligence became aware that a mutiny had occurred. Sebastian Graan, a militant Marxist, and hundreds of cohorts successfully gained control of the entire fleet. It is now becoming clear that a Marxist conspiracy has been imbedded within Dranburg’s politics for the past 6 years, and this plot has been planned throughout the creation of the “Cadius Fleet”. In order for such large scale act of subversion to be perpetrated, we suspect Graan was assisted by senior level officials within Dranburg.
The mutinied fleet now demands that Dranburg hand political power over to Sebastian Graan. We have 72 hours to comply, or he will block all three of our major ports. This would be devastating to our expanding economy, and given that our nation relied heavily on food imports, he would literally be able to starve our 400 million citizens to death.
We are without sufficient naval ability to engage the Cadius Fleet. Our coast guard, however modern, is impotent to inflict damage on the Fleet. Our airforces will not be equipped with any anti-shipping ordinance for another seven months. Thus, we require the help of the international community to destroy this subversive fleet.
As the President of Dranburg, I hereby submit my plea of help to the international community.
