Hudecian politicians sent out a flurry of letters to the nations of Marimaia, Oshima and Izu, Quinntonia, South Korea, LRR, Xiaguo,Drapol, Spyr, North Yaman, Taiwan and Sino to participate in an Asian Rim Peace Summit.

The principle idea of the summit was to agree on the post-Bonstock world order. To that extent, the government that Spyr supported in the islands of Java and Sumatra was invited, but the Hudecian government was not recognizing it as an official national government yet. They were listed under the 'esteemed guests' list.

Security was already tight around the Banff summit site with armed Hudecian military police guarding all entrances and exits.

Chiisu Suun nodded as Rongyi Bei detailed the Hudecian proposal.

"I'm sorry Rongyi, the video must have played up while you were detailing the invitees; I didn't hear Jamil mentioned."

The Foreign Minister sighed. "That's the problem, Excellency. He hasn't been invited. We'll be sending Juyi Wang on our behalf, as I don't want to miss your coronation. Maybe we should ask Jamil to go too, so that he can express himself to them in person."

"Good idea. Express some outrage first though; maybe we can get him onto the esteemed guest list rather than have him just turn up with Juyi."

Official Response to the Hudecian Invitation:

The NeoSuunist Prosperity Sphere of Marimaia graciously accepts the invitation to the Asian Rim Summit; Deputy Foreign Minister Juyi Wang will be leading our delegation.

We do, however, have one issue. It appeared to us that Prince Jamil bin Hasan has not been invited to the summit; as the leader of the provisional Malay government, we would have expected him to be asked to attend. We are certain that this was merely a clerical oversight; we are willing to transport Jamil to the conference alongside our delegates.

If it is acceptable, an observer from the Burmese government will also be attending; Burma suffered heavily at the hands of Bonstock, and we feel that they should be permitted to attend, so that they can see justice being carried out. The Burmese observer will also travel with our delegation.

North Yaman, known to be hesitant of North American influence in Asia, is surprisingly quick in its decision to graciously accept the invitation and announce its delegation of two of the nine High Council members, Shinobu Arentaka and Gemmei Hiranuma.

Arentaka is the mother of the matriarch of the Sawa House, and it is well known she had her hereditary seat granted to her daughter due to her radical leanings. Hiranuma is a Priestess of the 'Ii-ki caste', known for her Strainist leanings and dedication to the Yamani healthcare system.

Loudspeakers in the streets of Mioka-ro announce the excitement of Councillors Arentaka and Mora as they prepare for the Banff peace summit.

"There are times I wish I could execute people who make mistakes," Thabo uttered.

"Unfortunately clerical errors do occur Deputy Prime Minister, but I believe that the omission of Jamil was an intentional one on your part sir," Foreign Minister O'Hara commented.

"It was. I don't know how to respond to the proposed Malaysian government led by a Marimaian sympathizer," Thabo rocked back and forth in the chair. "I guess it could do no harm to invite him as an 'esteemed guest', there will be plenty of other esteemed guests coming."

"Esteemed guests will not be able to attend the most sensitive meetings, however, they will be able to attend the more general ones," O'Hara commented. "I'll respond to Marimaia that the omissions were not an attempt to exclude anyone and that Jamil is more than welcome to come. As for Myanmar, we felt that their government was better suited than ours to decide when to engage the other pacific nations."

"North Yaman has also confirmed its intent to attend," Majiowski, the Defence Minister reported. Thabo stopped rocking his chair and thought carefully.

"That was too fast for them.... I would have expected a long wait for a response and then a cheap shot at our presence in Korea in their acceptance letter," Thabo thought aloud. "Maybe we should watch their actions carefully... I don't fully trust them."

"...Comrade, we're best staying away from anything that might end in binding treaties, anyway. This event is to be attended by nothing but dictatorships, which is a note already being sounded in Local Senates, anyway. If the meeting turns out favourable results, all the better, if not, we boycotted on moral grounds... or they kept us out because they are counter-revolutionary dictators whose agreements mean nothing."

Spyran Premier Reiden Harsk was quick to announce his intention to attend. Such a summit was seen as a vital step in restoring more lasting peace and prosperity to the Pacific Rim.

Jakarta, Sujava

Muhammad Ma'ruf, chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Sujavan Provisional Government, also announces his attendance, a day after the Spyrans... less because of hesitation than because the Sujavan government wishes, even in small ways, to indicate its independance.

Given that the invitation does not extend recognition to Sujava, the response is suprisingly pleased, as Ma'juf indicates the eageress with which the Sujavan government seeks to progress towards a more permanent nation-state, in cooperation with its comrades in the Pacific.

The categorical omission of certain 'leaders' from being stated as leaders of a nation was part of Hudecia's ongoing strategy to figure out how the victors really wanted to divide the 'spoils' of war.

Hudecia was more in favour of a full-fledged democracy that contained all of Indonesia, and a similar one in Malaysia. As such, they did not wish to extend recognition to two self-proclaimed governments who were, in the eyes of many in Hudecia, 'commies', for lack of a better word.

Hudecian delegates included Deputy Prime Minister Thabo, Foreign Affairs Minister O'Hara, and Defence Minister Majiowski. Attached to the group as a aide was Hudecia Industries CEO Michael MacNally.

The first question on the table was whether or not to extend recognition to the government under Prince Jamil, next was the question of the Singapore problem.

Some sort of clarifying run-down might help.)

OOC: It's all a little nuts right now, so I'll give you the info that the CPRD would want to know:

Marimaia is in Malaysia, Spyr is in Sujava (Sumatra & Java). Spyr's making headway in their efforts, Marimaia appears to have attracted every insurgent in former Bonstock. LRR, Quinntonia and Hudecia are involved in the other Indonesian islands (I can't remember exact details though). LRR stabilised the Sakishimas and has left them, so they're concentrating on Indonesia now. The former Bonstockians are attacking Malaysia; they were attacking Indonesia as well, but they've stopped that now in an effort to ally with Hudecia, LRR, Quinntonia and Spyr against Marimaia and Sino.

In other words, I'm Bonstockian Public Enemy No.1, with Sino to soon share that position with me as he's ploughing into Singapore (the last bastion of Bonstockian power). According to Bonstock's new Islamic terrorist character, Sino and Marimaia are planning to co-annex the entire world. Anyhoo....

IC:

Deputy Foreign Minister Juyi Wang stood to address the Malaysian situation.

"As we all know, when Bonstock collapsed Malaysia was left without stability. Prince Jamil rose to power, and invited Marimaia to assist in the reconstruction and stabilisation of the nation. Now, I have read in certain nations' media that His Highness is a 'Marimaian puppet' and a 'commie sympathiser'. Firstly, Marimaia is not communist. Secondly, why would a monarch support an ideology which calls for his removal? Thirdly, if Jamil asked us to leave, we would do so. However, rather than try explaining this to you, I give the floor to Prince Jamil."

Jamil nodded at Wang, then turned to the other delegates.

"Where were all of you? When I came to power, my nation was crumbling while you all sat around discussing how much money to send, or how long to wait. Marimaia was on our border, with troops and assistance available. I took the only option I could and invited them in. My nation is now being terrorised by elements of the former Bonstockian regime, and still you sit back and discuss while only Marimaia takes action in an attempt to defend us! You talk about whether you should recognise my government or not; it's refreshing to see your true priorities as political wrangling rather than saving lives or defeating terrorism! Chiisu Suun and I have both said that your people would be welcome in Malaysia, but still you do nothing!"

"If you are not willing to assist us in our time of need, then I will know truly who my friends are." Jamil pointed at Wang. "They have been there for me and my people; even when members of the populace turned on them, they accepted it and carried on helping them regardless. They have apologised for any mistakes made. They compensate for any damage, and they rebuild. They pay for what they eat, for where they sleep, and for their leisure activities. Now, apparently I am their puppet because I won't send them away. The truth is that if I did send them away, no-one else would help me; other nations have instinctively turned away from me because I have assistance from Marimaia."

Jamil slammed his hands down on the table. "In the end, we shall look at it this way: if you say that you fight terrorism yet do nothing to help against it, then your recognition of my government is irrelevant."
Hudecia
26-11-2004, 17:21
Hudecia's defence minister Majiowski rose after Jamil's verbal ultimatum. Calmly he began to speak, his voice gently but strong and firm.

"There is a story once, an old story... of a group of nations that banded together fight tyranny and save a continent. Once the fighting was over and the tyrant deposed, the nations of the Pacific began to to rebuild the destroyed nation and recover their strength.

Soon, they found that one of their 'allies' was a wolf in sheep's clothing, he turned on the allies and sent the world back into war, a war which culminated in the ouster of his forces from the land he had captured. However, this was not before thousands died bravely trying to save an oppressed people.

We were tricked once, and after that we pledged 'never again', would we allow ourselves to fall into the same trap.... But we did. We believed that he had changed, but the bodies in Mergui proved that he was as treacherous as ever. So once more we, the nations of the world banded together to fight tyranny and fight the final battle against the true enemy.

Who knows better than Hudecia the price of war? How many Hudecians were killed in the battle for the Sakishimas? Who dares to accuse Hudecia of shirking its duties to the world?

Should we now 'rubber stamp' anyone who comes to power? No.
Should we now send our troops in without knowledge? No.
Should we be cautious and careful in who we ally ourselves to and who we fight against? Yes.
And should we let ourselves be led down the road to war once more? No.

This summit, is not about dividing the spoils, it is about securing the peace. It is about deciding who deserves international support and who doesn't, this summit is to answer these questions and more."

Majiowski sat down.
Marimaia
26-11-2004, 19:54
Jamil scowled at Majiowski.

"What kind of person do you think I am? I have no plans for conquest, no grand annexation plan. I merely want to strengthen my nation before allowing the people to decide their own government. As one of the few descendants of the Malaysian royal family, I will merely be a constitutional monarch. I want to bring some tradition and continuity back to Malaysia after Bonstock's colonial rule. I don't know what crime the Marimaians are supposed to have committed in your eyes, but painting me with the same brush for simply associating with them shows bigotry. Besides, you must therefore paint the Spyrans and the North Yamanese with that brush, as they are allies of Marimaia.

I am not saying that you should ally with everyone who asks you, but look at it realistically; what threat does Malaysia pose? We couldn't harm you even if we wanted to. If you're frightened of supposed Marimaian expansionism, then you obviously didn't hear Suun the other day; they don't have the military for it. Once Malaysia is stable, Marimaia will remove her troops. Of course there'll be close ties between Malaysia and Marimaia; we're close geographically, and we can help each other considerably."

OOC: I'm sorry...are we starting? The Yamani delgates would be attending with Premier Harsk, but I guess we'll just assume we've already arrived.

After the emotional speachs of the Marimaian and Hudecian delegates, an old, kind looking woman takes the floor. Dressed in a traditional, long flowing dress, Shinobu Arentaka is a frandmotherly figure, but commands attention with her quiet, calm demenor. She speaks through a translator, having never learnt another language than her native Lyong.

"Delegates and ambassadors, it is obvious that both of you feel very strongly on this issue. On one hand, we have Prince Jamil, who has had to see a grand nation fall apart under corruption and the iron fist of the Bonstockian military junta. He has had to stand by and watch his country men be used in foreign wars to further the goals of this broken state. Now he has a chance, a hope for a future without war...Then we have the Defence Minister of Hudecia, a man whose country has sent men to die in Asian lands. He says his nation understands the loss and paid the price for the fall of Bonstock, and this is true. However, this is missing the point of the first question on the table."

She continues, turning to Prince Jamil, "Put your emotions aside gentlemen. Neither side can measure even one life lost against another." At this, she turns to Defence Minister Majiowski. "The only question remains, will you forget your differences and recognize a new nation, or will you continue bickering over who paid more pounds in flesh."

"Now, as for the veiled allegation that Prince Jamil does not have the support of his people and his nation is some puppet unfit for the 'rubber stamp', then I have this to say. Look at this man, look at how he found aid for his people in the closest ally. See how he puts himself in harms way to be near his people, and stands in the way of terrorism from the fallen soldiers of a fallen regime. One has only to hear him speak to know the love he feels for his country men. This is why Yaman would more than gladly recognize the government of Prince Jamil. Thank you all."

OOC: I figured that if we waited too long that everyone would lose interest and not attend. This way we start dealing with matters and can sort them out quickly. Others will show up as the conference moves on. I did invite everyone and everyone can attend.

IC:

Majiowski had been tempted to respond to Jamil's second most provacative speech but had restrained himself until the Yamani delegate proceeded to speak. Fortunately, the tempered words of the Yamani helped ease some of the tension that was building in the room.

Still, the point remained, Hudecia was not convinced, especially after Jamil's latest outbursts. His accusations of bureaucracy, bigotry and laziness stung especially for a minister who had seen an entire division smashed in the Sakishimas, and almost the entire surface fleet sent to the bottom. O'Hara turned and whispered in Majiowski's ear before Majiowski responded.

"We thank the government of North Yaman for its wise words and tempered view on the matter. However, Hudecia will not officially recognize the government of Malaysia until the security and humanitarian situation on the ground has stabilized and the democratic government which Jamil envisions is set in place."

OOC:Probably a good idea...oh, and if the speach was off a little, its because I was responding to Hudecia, and got beaten to the punch by Marimaia. But I think it still makes sense...

IC: Arentaka smiles at the thanks of the Hudecian, but it is Councillor Mora who replies. A man at the end of his prime, Tsutomu Mora is the representative of the Mai House and a staunch traditionalist on the Yamani High Council. He replies in broken English, which he picked up in his politic dealings.

She stands, her skirt suit ruffling in the porcess, her blonde hair pulled back into a bun and a completely unsmiling look on her face, puposefully turning so that she was not speaking to Jamil, but to the Chair, "The Quinntonian government government does not take kindly to accusations that we are shirking our responsibilites in this matter, we have lost over 1 million citisens in the last fifteen years to the cause of freedom in South-East Asia, and there is no mation here that can hope to match the vast amounts of finacial resources that have been poured into that region. AS we speak, Quinntonian Peacekeeping Forces are landed in the former Bonstockian territory, trying to secure the world against what could be painful death throes. WE have a high amount of interest in this region, for humanitarian reasons and will continue to do our part so that democracy can be furthered. My esteemed collegue from Hudecia is correct that we can not rush into making rash decisions, and as we Quinntonians have learned on the Korean Penninsulea, we must choose our friends wisely. Our government does acknowledge that there is a relationship between Marimariai and the claimant, Jamil. That is undeniable and from the lips of Mr. Jamil. "We were to understand that this would be a meeting on what can be done for the people of south east Asia, not a meeting to discuss an ally of those SSRC members present. If this meeting is to be derailed by slander then the Yamani will be more than glad to leave you to it."

Turning to the Deacon, Mora finishes his rant.

"Perhaps you can tell us where in South East asia you have lost citizens. I was told that the Dra-pol peninsula was in north west asia. And I'm sure your interest in all of Asia is purely...Christian."

"Now, before we get into which nations recognize the insurgent forces in Dra-pol, can we please start talking about helping the people in shattered Bonstock. I've seen this happen before, when at a meeting set up to decide the fate of post war Bonstock, the allied nations fought and bickered at Dra-pol instead, letting the criminals of Bonstock free to commit their tyranny again. This can not come to pass."

"Jamil will back me up when I say to you that Marimaia is doing her best to secure the nuclear arsenal in Malaysia, but keep in mind that Bonstock was well-known for liking nuclear warheads. There could be thousands of them for all we know. The trouble is that we don't have any real intelligence about where they all are; we could secure all of the known ones, then a remote Indonesian island could be the site of a nuclear launch. The only way we'll ever find them all is to cooperate; something which is looking increasingly unlikely for us to do."

Wang tok a sip of water. "As for the Bonstockian empire, we can only hope that Sino's efforts in Singapore are successful. While that city is free, the Federal Republic still exists."

"Fellow national delgates, it would seem that Bonstock terrorism is on the rise. The LJDC has just informed me that a major Spyran base in Sujava was just attacked by two trucks carrying explosives. This makes it clear, we must use whatever methods possible to destroy these insurgents! Good men and women are dying while a minority of the populace revels in their death! More and more, it is clear that the murderous members of the former regime must never be allowed to hold power again..."

I recommend that this summit come to an immediate declaration affording recognition to the current volitile situation in the South East Asian area and that all nations refrain from giving public voice to complaints about other nations. Wang and Jamil looked at each other before Jamil addressed the delegates.

"Firstly, allow me to apologise; I am a very passionate person, and occasionally my emotions overtake me. Secondly, the person to whom the Yamani are referring is called Iban Abu Abdulla. He is an Islamic terrorist who is trying to unite the Federal Republic again; he has committed acts of terrorism against all of us, and is playing on the ethnic divisions between the Malaysian people. We have evidence that he is working with the resistance currently in control of Singapore; therefore, we are looking at a union of terrorists and former regime commanders trying to resurrect the Federal Republic."

Majiowski again took over talking for the Deputy PM.

"The problem that Hudecia faces is how to allow the people of Malaysia to choose their path, but to ensure that the election is not stolen by a few radical leaders who use fear and intimidation as their campaign strategies.

Perhaps allowing Abdulla to wander free for now is the best course of action. Arresting him would make him a matyr. Once the election is held he could be marginalized or 'convinced' of the necessity of the allied forces and our strategies."

"Well, my Marimaian friends have just brought very good news. Early this morning Marimaian special forces moved in on all known terrorist locations in Malaysia; however, they were careful not to harm Abdulla, who is still safe. 'Well, atleast we agree on one thing,' thinks Arentaka, as she watches the nations group up in the face of these attacks. Taking the floor, she replies to the Quinntonia delegation, and delegate's headsets begin translating.

"We agree Abdullah could be found guilty of many crimes, the greatest perhaps being trying to reform Bonstock. However, we can't allow him to have any justification or truth in any of his allegations of Imperialism, so we believe it is wise to follow the Marimaians and simply destroy his powerbase."

OOC: So, Bonstock wants to reform the Federal Republic with a 54% vote. I'm not sure of the realism of the percentage there...and even in that scenario, the other 46% would probably be more inclined to fight for their freedom. Though, lets not forget that nations have been formed with minority support...take the American Revolution as an example.

So, basically, we have to decide whether we consider this godmodding, or allow Abdullah to have support of 54% of the population.

OOC-I surely do smell a Godmod here. I think this is just another one of Bonstock's "regime change" strategies, wherein he tries to not take responsibility for anything that he has previously done. If we let Abdullah take power, and let's face it, that is bending the bounds of realism to its breaking piont anyways, we are all just going to be back in another couple of months with Bonstock claiming to have a fundumentalist Muslim willing to die killing us "infedels" for his faith on every corner.

Thabo smiled back.

"How about one better? The Hudecian 'embassy' in Malaysia could be the site of a prolonged 'hostage taking' by angry mobs who have decided to vent their frustration against Hudecia on the local diplomats."

"Of course, Hudecia would condemn this and the standoff would eventually end in harsh words and the recognition of your government in exchange for the release of the 'hostages'."

"This way, the people view your determination and strong will in the face of Hudecian and Western pressure. Moreover, you get the opportunity to force those.. ..err.. ahem.. those 'damn white people' into apologizing."

Jamil and Wang both nodded at each other and smiled at Thabo before Jamil answered.

"You're a credit to your people, my friend. May this be the bizarre beginning to a long and fruitful relationship."

General Yang was nearby sampling the entrees when Thabo waltzed over to tell him of the plan.

At first Yang simply shrugged.. but at Thabo's insistence he reluctantly trudged off to HQ.

OOC: I think I've left enough time pass for this.

IC:

Deputy Prime Minister Thabo recalled the ambassadors to the table to bring up the next topic of discussion; Singapore.

"Currently Sino believes that it is their right to annex Singapore regardless of the cost. I am interested in hearing the views of the other nations in the region. I believe that Marimaia's allowance of Sinoese troops to pass through their nation to attack the target indicates their support for the military action, however, my interpretation may be flawed.

Hudecia is greatly troubled by the attempt to solve this militarily. The people of Singapore seem strongly opposed to this and any attempts to militarily take the city could end in a disaster to rival Mergui."

Premier Reiden Harsk of Spyr glowers at the mention of Sino. Though they have nominally been Spyr's allies in at least two conflicts, they have never been seen in the same positive light as Hudecia or LRR... some even go so far as to refer to the ultranationalist Chinese as 'Bonstock by another name'.

"Singapore is a den of villainy, the very heart of the loathesome Bonstockian imperialists we have fought so hard to destroy. It is certain that both its current government and its civilian populace are riddled with former regime leaders, guilty of most heinous crimes. We cannot simply let it continue to fester.

However, with the fall of Lord Harald, we cannot assume safety in the Pacific Rim. Bonstock was the most despicable, but not the only immoral imperialist roader. Sino is one such power.

I hve nothing but the deepest admiration for the Chinese people... it is from them that many aspects of my own culture and even language originate. They have reason to be proud. But General Liu of Suno has transformed a spirit of pride into a bubbling pit of ultranationalist bigotry, enslaving his own people in a web of lies and suffering.

Not only the Sinoese, but all Chinese nations are touched by the plague of Liu. In Xiaguo, Chuang-han, and _Taiwan, over the past few years, one can see a pattern emerging wherein Sinoese pressure forces increasingly militant policies to be adopted, and chains the foreign policy of those nations to the imperialist direction set forth by Liu. Into this environment, how can we stand by and allow him to enslave one more nation, however foul its roots, into his imperialist agenda?

Not only are his actions evident, but Liu's words also ring true. His bigotry is so etensive as to taint all things with which he is involved. He has declared that all Taiwanese are Han Chinese, ignoring the ethnically distinct Taiwanese and Hakka peoples that make up over 3/4s of Taiwan's population, and practically the entire populace of the Maropian Coast. He has called all Japanese subhuman, lower than dogs, and enacted policies to underline that status. He has stated that all Koreans who happen to dwell within the borders of the CPRD are little more than dirt to be brushed aside without thought.
The former Bonstockian territories are rife with tensions over religion and ethnicity. If we allow the establishment of a racist Sinoese administration in Singapore, then it will be countered by an increase in racism across the ex-FRB, resulting in violence and suffering beyond our control.

Liu is a man who wishes to forcibly unite all Chinese under his fist, regardless of their wishes. He is a man who has stated that any territory upon which a Han Chinese person resides is Chinese territory, that all persons of Han Chinese ancestry are Chinese citizens, and who has denied the same privileges to the Hatta, the Mongols, the Bedouin, the Uhgurs, the Manchus, the Tibetans, the Thai, and the numerous other non-Han ethnicities in the territories arbitrarily declared as 'Chinese'. He is a man who considers the launch of conventional warheads against civilian population centres an acceptable way to open diplomatic relations. He should be tried for war crimes, NOT allowed to seize territory uncontested."

Wang leant forward. "Well, excuse us for taking the only option open to us. It was either let Sino march against Bonstock or suffer invasion and missile attack from the Federal Republic! Perhaps if you were sandwiched between two potentially hostile regimes, you would understand. If we had the military capability, we would be in Singapore right now."

He frowned intently. "It should be us in there right now. However, I don't feel that the time for panic has arrived just yet. The latest news from the region shows that Beddgelen forces are moving on Singapore; let us hope that they occupy the main regions of the city before Sinoese troops."

Thabo responded to the Spyran and Marimaian comments.

"As much as we dislike the prospect of another army in Singapore it may be the only possibility. Still, we are looking at the possibility of having two major powers entering a single city with a large population density and fighting each other and the local population. In this case... we should be preparing for civilian casualties in the hundreds of thousands."

(To be completely honest, Thabo really didn't have any interest in preventing BG from attacking Sino. Two major world powers slugging it out in a major and prolonged conflict that would damage the reputations and force projection in the region would benefit Hudecia. But of course he had to set himself up as the one who would appear most concerned about the humanitarian crisis.)

"Hudecian warplanes are on stand by in the region, however, we hope that the situation can come to a peaceful conclusion."

Turning to Wang he continued. "I had no intention of presuming to know what your intentions were, from the perspective on this side of the ocean it appeared as though you supported Sino. Thank you for clarifying your position."

As Arentaka begins in Lyongese, the translators buzz to life.

"Is it possible that Beth Gellert wishes to aid the Singaporeans? Despite being the last bastion of Federal Republic power, Singaporeans are entitled to live under a regime if they wish it. They seem to be militantly opposed to foreign troops from basically every Asian nation."

"Perhaps it is possible to get the Singaporean people to turn over their leaders, those individuals like General Wu who have supported terrorist action in Malaysia and Sujava. Sinoese Imperialism cannot stand against the joint efforts of Beth Gellert, the Singaporeab people and this council of pacific nations."

Wang smiled insincerely at Thabo. "My pleasure. I am glad that we have resolved any doubts about our intentions."

Jamil yawned loudly. "Excuse me for interrupting. It's all well and good asking the Singaporeans to hand over their leaders, but they probably won't. Wu has established himself as the brave nationalistic hero; two foreign powers are currently either in Singapore or about to move on the city, and a group of other foreign powers asking a besieged populace to hand over the man who they probably see as their only salvation is not really going to work. The only way to finish that conflict is if everyone else goes in and removes Sino, then a multinational force can keep peace in Singapore while things are stabilised.

Of course, Sino may voluntarily stop their assault and march back home."

Wang and Jamil smirked at each other.

Thabo thought about the idea but quickly dismissed it.

"So the people of Singapore would react better when pretty much every pacific nation invades their city? They'd be more likely to pelt us with bullets than with flowers. Invasion would only exacerbate the problem. Although, if the current trend continues, it may be the only option."

"Why don't we agree to provide financial and some limited military support for General Wu under the condition that he renounces all ties to terrorism and agrees to renounce all claims to 'empire' outside of Singapore. We provide airstrike capacity and military forces to guard around Singapore, but not in it."

"If he reneges after the Sinoese are defeated, then we can always go in and take him out. Until then, we can just support Wu in defeating the Sinoese."

Thabo was still thinking about the airstrike capabilities. He knew that the Sinoese had the capability to retaliate against such a dramatic stroke, but maybe they would be too busy with BG to care. Then again, why not just feign preparations to attack and let BG and Sino blast each other.

General Wu, Thabo was fairly sure, would not appreciate being invaded by foreign nations and would resist all attempts by the BG as well as Sinoese forces to enter the city.

Wang shook his head.

"Yes, of course we'll give assistance to Wu. Then you can all watch as Marimaia and Malaysia are attacked in retaliation. We won't help Wu if it means drawing the ire of Sino; Hudecia is safe across the ocean, but we would be right in the line of fire. By all means, you can help him, but we shall have to decline."

Thabo wanted to remind Marimaia that all military aid doesn't have to be publicly disclosed but thought better of it. No need of course, Marimaia knows this full well.

Thabo was thinking of another plan. Allowing pro-Bonstock elements in the islands of Indonesia to travel to Singapore in support of the city. They could be armed through the many vast army depots that were 'secured' and their travel unhindered by the allied forces.

He dared not propose this in the open though.

Harsk takes a document from an aide, and begins to flip through the pages, reading the occasional passage aloud.

"... entire territory of Maropia/Hualien treated as a free-fire zone by Sinoese forces...

... unarmed FRB deserters shot on sight with heavy machine guns...

... all caucasian Maropians rounded up and executed...

... summary execution of all members of the Maropian civilian government...

... Christian priests forced at gunpoint to perform last rites for those being executed by the Sinoese. Refusal results in execution of the clergy...

... youths armed only with sticks and stones shot on sight, their bodies strung up on lamp posts, hanging by their wrists...

... all talk of Maropian independance from China is banned as treason...

... all Maropians will accept Chinese rule without question, or be put to death as traitors...

... 24-hour constant high-volume broadcasting of Sinoese propaganda into civilian homes, designed so as to prevent any escape from hearing..."

... anyone who violates curfew is shot without question or hesitation...

... for every Sinoese casualty, ten Maropian citizens are randomly selected and executed...

... those who refuse to decare themselves Chinese are shot..."

Harsk pauses and looks around.

"THIS is what the Sinoese did upn their occupation of Maropian Coast. Is there any reason to believe that Sino's actions in Singapore will be any different? NO! Sinoese atrocities are the equal of those committed by Bonstock. How long shall we wait for them to commit their own Mergui? What shall we say then to the peoples we liberated from Bonstock, when they ask why we took action against the FRB and not the ARS?

I will admit that I speak with hypocricy... I call for you to follow a path of which my own nation is hesitant. But, Spyr alone cannot stand against the imperialists of the world. We are strong economically, we are strong militarily, we are strong in spirit... but for almost every two Spyran citizens, men women and children, young and old, there is a Sinoese soldier [OOC: according to his claimed numbers]. To stand alone here would condemn the people of Spyr, and of all Lyong, to the very things we would be speaking out against. I cannot in fairness ask my President to tell our people that they must sacrifice everything just to be lost without impact.

But, Sino is not invincible. It is not self-contained. It cannot stand against the world. I do not say that we should invade and overthrow... I say that we should look to Singapore as our line in the sand, that all together with one voice we shout "ENOUGH! You shall go NO FURTHER!"

Like a spoiled child, like a schoolyard bully, Sino shall see our combined strength. Lyong, the Indian subcontinent, North America, Southeast Asia... we encircle China and together we can overcome Sino, and that nation cannot help but be aware of it. Knowing that we shall remain ever-vigilant, perhaps he shall never dare push across the line we've drawn, and we shall avoid a repeat of our conflict with the FRB."

Wang raised an eyebrow.

"Well, if you'd all be willing to deploy troops to assist Marimaia against the invasion that would take place as soon as we did anything anti-Sino, then we'd join such an effort. Of course, we'd need additional ABM systems to help counter Sino's missiles as well."

He took a sip of water before continuing. "Let me explain why this is so. All of the other nations here have significant distances between themselves and Sino; in the case of the Lyong nations, Sino would have to march through Xiaguo, which itself is seemingly turning away from Sino's influence. Marimaia has Chuang-Han, a known Sinoese client state, between ourselves and Sino. We have a large number of citizens of Chinese descent, which makes us a target for Sino's crusade. As we are closest, Sino would seek to eliminate us first. Don't get me wrong; Marimaia would dearly love to see Sino brought to heel. The only problem is that we needed them during the Bonstock War, and as a result there are a large number of their soldiers either in Malaysia or actually in Singapore itself."

Jamil whispered something to him, so Wang yielded the floor. Jamil tented his fingers.

"If you wanted, you could probably stage a massive strike against Sino's forces in Southeast Asia. Although we are currently allowing Sinoese forces passage, that does not mean that we are in any position to protect them from attack. Although Malaysia inherited an excellent anti-air network from the FRB, it is for defending Malaysia, not Sinoese troops. You could take out his units, dealing a significant blow to his armed forces; of course, Marimaia and Malaysia could issue some shocked and horrified statements about trespassing and whatnot, but that would merely be for show."
