22-11-2004, 21:48
Today is a glorious day for Shenyang. We are about to unveil our new Air Dominance Fighter. To be known as the Broadsword. However we are openning the design to international scrutiny so as to eliminate any bugs we may have missed. the statistics are as follow:

F/A-1010 Broadsword
Crew: 1 pilot
Length: 17.2m
Wingspan: 21m
Height: 3.612m
Powerplant: 2 SMI-165 Afterburning Turbojets
Top Speed: Mach 3.6
Supercruise: Mach 2.4
Range: 1400 miles (unrefeuled)
Ceiling: 60,000ft
Max Take-off Weight: 80,000 lbs
Armament:
2 25mm gattling guns (1000 rounds each)
5 internal bays
Central Bay: 6 hardpoint for ATA or ATG weapons
Side Bay A: 3 hardpoints for ATA weapons
Side Bay B: 3 hardpoints for ATA weapons
Side Bay C: 1 hardpoint for ATA weapons
Side Bay D: 1 Hardpoint for ATA weapons
Other Systems:
Genesis 1st gen. stealth system
AWT-345 120mi. range radar
Canopy Projection HUD
3D thrust vectoring

Cost: 112 million usd

Description: The aircraft has wing mounted engines similar to that of the ME-262 that we once used, though heavilly improved, allowing for the interior of the body to be openned for greater weapons capacity, fuel, radar, anything that the mission might dictate. We would like to make a note of the fact that this aircraft can carry a limited number (4) of small cruise missles in the main bay.

OOC: Now that the description is done, any questions/comments

I'm guessing your slightly future tech?
Shenyang
23-11-2004, 20:52
Not really, though it could be used in very near future tech, if you look at the aircraft itself it really is a pheasible craft for modern, a bit out there yes, but entirely pheasible.

Top Speed: Mach 3.6
Supercruise: Mach 2.4
Range: 5000 miles (unrefeuled)

These figures seem to indicate a near future tech aircraft. What would be the maximum range for this aircraft be at mach 3.0?
Doomingsland
24-11-2004, 02:20
OOC:A turbo fan ain't gonna push you over mach three, and you aren't going 5000 miles unrefueled. I'd lower speed to mach three, and range to about 1500 miles (that's probably stretching it)

OOC:Oh, yeah, wing mounted engines aren't going to be very maneuverable, that concept is very old and inefficient.

The fastest aircraft in the world, the SR-71, uses wing mounted engines
Shenyang

The top speed is stripped of most of the extra equipment, I'll change the engines anyway, I don't like them. Lastly If you are stupid enough to fly at top speed you're asking for terrible range, but I'll drop it down to 2,000 miles (1600 if you fly full afterburn the whole way) Thanks for the input.

Can they be retrofitted for space flight?
Shenyang

Sure, I'll have to increase the cost though, to around 125 million, I think, I'll finalize that later today or tommorow.

Just open the .doc file, get a good view of it on ure monitor, hit Print Screen/SysRq and then open MS Paint. Go to Edit>Paste and then save trim it up and save the file a .jpg or .gif. then you got a pic u can upload....

That would work, if my computer had paint or anything like it, my computer comes with everything I want, except paint.

our scientists upon receiving it, while they were assembling it, found a flaw that can cause the afterburners to overheat and cause a fire in the engine, redesignd theafterburners with a liquid cooling system to reduce the risk of fire to almost zero and also it keeps the afterburners in good shape for a longer time, it also helps to keep the afterburners running for a longer period of time, we will send the blueprints our scientists came up with upon request free of charge.

He said the X-34 isn't manned, and technically the SR-71 was the fastest operational military aircraft. The XB-70 Valkyrie was faster by about .3 mach ratings, but the first prototype killed 4 people in a midair collision due to the vortexes created by its downward wigtips and the program was scrapped shortly there after and the second prototype is at an air museum somewhere.
