The Jamaican Empire extends deeper into Africa.

Channel 19 Jamaican News:

A reporter stands in a press conference room, with a stage towards the front and seats positioned in front of the stage. A lone, metallic, podium is on the stage with the flag of Jamaica incrested on its front side. Jamaican and foriegn media fill the room as the reporter begins to speak.

"Di Dude of Jamaica, Swoonie Woo has called a press conference to inform the people of Jamaica of new developments within the empire. What these developments could be are anyones guess, wait, here comes Mr. Woo now."

Swoonie Woo walks on to the stage from a side door as he had done so many times before, and makes his way towards the podium. He begins speaking into the mics immediately once he is behind the podium, wasting no time,

"It's been three years since the empire movement has begun, and in that time we've made rapid progress in bettering the conditions of blacks worldwide, in the Caribbean, North America and in Africa. I have gathered the media here today to announce that the empire has peacefully acquired more territory within the continent of Africa. After holding talks with our brothers in Chad and in Cameroon, they've both agreed to become one with the empire. Troops already stationed in Nigeria will be moving into the two nations within a month to secure the borders, and to train police and military forces. After the countries are secured humanitarian aid and reconstruction crews will arrive to reshape and rebuild these countries to match the wealth of the rest of the empire. This will give us more influence in the continent of Africa and allow us to begin trade with less fortunate nations who need our help. As we speak two Nigerian divisions are moving into the two respective nations to insure safety for the people against militant arab groups in the area. That's all for now, Channel 19 will keep you posted."

Swoonie Woo swiftly left the podium and exited the stage from the same side door from which he arrived.

Channel 19 Jamaican News:

"Nigerian troops lead by Jamaican commanders moved into the nation of Cameroon today where they were generally well recieved. Its reported that in first city they arrived in, people lined the streets and cheered their convoy on, signaling that the annexation of Cameroon as a whole should go smoothly. The two Nigerian divisions have cleared about half of the country so far, once the entire country has been secured, one division will stay in Cameroon and the other will travel to Chad to secure it as well. Resistance from arab militias are expected in Chad, but they make up a small percentage of the general populace, and are expected to brutally crushed by Jamaican led forces. More news when it comes."

OOC: How about a real RP over cameroon, I claim it and although I'll be willing to recognize it as a mirror world, Ithink you could tanke it in a bit more interesting of a fashion.

I'm thinking a rebellion in cameroon would spring up against colonial rule since i run it like King Leopold ran the Belgian Congo. You then support the rebels against me.

Somewhere just over the Chad Border, near The Sudanese (REA) Border

"What are we doing here again?" asked the pilot of the old DC-3, still painted up in Air Afrique livery, as they sat under the plane's wing in the dusk.

"Farquhar's off dealing with one of the Arabs. Something about resisting the Jamaicans and all that" replied the Co-pilot, as he drank some lukewarm Tea from his thermos. "Tea?"

"No, I'm right, thanks. Never could stand the stuff."

A tallish man in Khaki clothes with a pith helmet on emerged from some nearby tents, talking to an Arab man in his native language.

The pith-helmeted man addressed the two aircrew.

"Chaps, could you do me a favour and bring some of the cases from the back of the old bird? The locals want to do a spot of bargaining..."

3 and a half hours later, the aircrew found themselves loading several wooden crates full of Rugs, Hookahs, Teapots, Samovars, and other assorted trinkets in the back of the DC-3, whilst the Arabs were admiring their new rifles and ammunition.

It was well known that Farquhar, despite being an Imperial Trading Company representative, worked for the Roycelandian Foreign Ministry as a "field agent", so the fewer questions asked about what had just happened, the better, at least in the aircrew's eyes...

Channel 19 Jamaican News:

"We've just recieved news that we can confirm that the nation of Cameroon is now completely controlled by the empire. The process was, as far as we can tell, peaceful and without conflict. Humanitarian aid and reconstruction crews will be arriving into the nation within a few weeks to begin a 'reshaping' of the nation so that it meets Jamaican standards of living. In other news, now that the nation of Cameroon is within the Jamaican Empire, a Nigerian division of the annexation force will be moving into Chad later this week. There is expected to be a light, unorganized resistance from the small, Arab community, but other than that, the Annexation Board assures us that it should be business as usual.

In other news, white on white gang violence continues to rise in the Jamaican territory of Alabama......"

Later that week, in the nation of Chad

The Jamaican led, Nigerian division had been recieving absolutely no resistance as they hopped from town to town across the nation, collaberating with Chadanian police and military to secure each one. If anything they had been getting the opposite of resistance, with native women kissing the soldiers on the cheeks and native men shaking their hands as the troops marched and rode through towns. With each major town they secured, they left an assigned number of troops behind, numbers ranging from 500-2,000, judging on the population of the town. The number of troops still on the move was down to 20,000, but they were well equipped and confident they could handle any resistance that Arabs might put up.

The division had sweeped through the southern part of the nation, and up the middle, now they were reaching the north, a place that the natives called "The Badlands". The north sector of Chad had been in controlled by disputing Arab warlords for over 25 years, but it was rumored that they all had put aside their difference and joined together to repel the Jamaican led troops.

Ordinarily, Jamaica would've decided to leave the Arab's alone, and let them do what they will. But occupying the northern area of Chad was a must, not only because of the massive farmlands, but also because there were very poor, opressed indigneous blacks in the area in need of food and supplies. The farmlands and a few dozen oil wells were just a nice earner.

The Jamaican led troop convoy rolled into the Arab controlled area, alert and ready for action. The first town in their path was Faya-Largeau, they were about 10 miles outside of the town, traveling on a narrow path through dry plains with high grass that seemed to go on forever. The convoy of troops contained:

20,000 Troops
100 BMP-3s
40 T90 MBT
20 Leopard Tanks
4 Chinooks
100 Humvees (Various models equipped with mortars and/or heavy machineguns)
30 Ural 6 x 6 Medium Haul Trucks
15 Blackhawk Helicopters
20 155mm Medium Howitzers
20 120mm Smerch Rocket Artillery
15 Cobra Attack Helicopters
20 Hinds

"Right, this particular weapon is a Lee-Enfield Mark III Bolt-Action Rifle, made by the good people at Imperial Armaments. It's .303 Calibre, and holds 10 shots in the magazine here. Even better, it has a large bayonet on the end for despatching your enemies."

Farquhar paused as his Arab guide translated this. There were nods of approval from the Arab Tribesmen gathered outside their tents, with their camels nearby.

Farquhar put the Lee-Enfield on the table in front of him and picked up a large revolver.

"This is a Webley Mark VI revolver. .455 Calibre, six shots, breaks open like so to reload." He demonstrated how to load the revolver, then fired it at a date palm about 15m away. The date palm exploded in a shower of dates. The Arabs clapped.

Northern Chad, Outskirts of Faya-Largeau

Signs of civilization began to spring up through the seemingly endless, dry plains as the Jamaican led troops travelled down a narrow dirt road in northern Chad. Small houses and farms could be seen on either side of the troop convoy, but unlike the other towns, there were no friendly natives coming out to greet them. As they began to travel deeper into the city, they spotted more and more civilians, most of which were Arab, walking the streets and going about their daily business.

When they spotted the Jamaican convoy, they would stop what they were doing and give cold stares to the passing troops, while others came together and chattered to each other menacingly in Arabic, all the while glancing at the foriegn soldiers.

The city was compact, and the buildings were very close together, making it hard for the large convoy to manuever within the city limits. So to solve the problem they broke off into smaller groups and moved towards the city's center from all different directions. Something didn't feel right about Faya-Largeau, and the city's inhabitants were only increasing the feeling of uneasiness among the troops. The Arab's behavior was almost as if it were pre-planned, as if they had been told how to act. The Jamaican led troops were fully alerted, and ready for anything that might come there way, but only time would tell if the situation would boil over into something worse.

Faya-Largeau, Northern Chad

Perched high on top of one of the buildings surrounding the Bazaar, Zarqi was watching the Jamaican troops through his nice new binoculars. The Roycelandian had said that these binoculars were specially coated with something that stopped them reflecting sunlight, and whilst these Roycelandians had lots shiny equipment to give to the Arabs- ostensibly funded by their "Arab Brothers in The Sudan"- Zarqi was maintaining a very low profile as he watched the Jamaicans throughout the town...

Zarqi couldn't read English, which was not unusual in this part of the world. Many years ago, a nice French Missionary had tried to teach him the Roman alphabet, but he was needed on the farm and had been unable to continue his lessons.

This normally wasn't a hindrance, but there was writing on the side of his Lee-Enfield rifle's metal wrist-strap that he couldn't read, and he idly wondered what it said.

What it actually said was:

"CSA
[picture of a crown]
SMLE Mk III
2001"

For someone who knew anything about rifles, this would indicate that Zarqi's gun was a Short Magazine Lee-Enfield Mk III, made at the Colonial Small Arms Factory, Nairobi, in 2001.

As long as it went "Bang" when he pulled the trigger, Zarqi wasn't too concerned about where it was made or by who, however.

Watching the Jamaicans, Zarqi again cursed the fact that the next highest structure in the town was a Minaret attached to the Mosque. There was no way he could bring weapons into a House of Allah, nor could he encourage the Jamaicans to come into one by his presence there, but the extra height would have been welcome.

He also watched as Mohammed, a small child, snuck out of the shadows and made his way towards one of the Jamaican Trucks, a bag of Sugar concealed under his robes. Zarqi Smiled. It was time to drive the invaders from their land, slowly, but surely. The Roycelandian man had said to "start small" and not draw attention to themselves. Yet...

The driver of the Jamaican "Troop Haul" truck hit the breaks as he spotted a child walking dangerously close to his vehicle. The small convoy behind him skid to a halt. The driver leaned out of his window, and yelled in syllables, "Hey kid, you got to move, mon. We got places to go!"
Roycelandia
27-11-2004, 13:34
Mohammed looked at the Jamaican Soldier with big, wide eyes. "Where are you going in such a big truck? There's nothing around here at all."

Zarqi was still watching, his rifle nearby. He hoped that Mustapha and Ibrahim were acting similarly. Ibrahim had something called an RPG, but the streets were too narrow to use it accurately.

He hoped that one of the Market Ladies had the sense to use some of the grenades that he'd sold earlier...
Jamaica Reborn
27-11-2004, 18:07
The driver was a little taken back by the child's good English, he looked at the kid puzzingly, "Look kid, me and all these people have jobs to do, understand? I can't explain now, but you'll be much better off with us in charge, so get out of the way."

The driver was slowly losing his patients and so were the 100 or so troops behind him, packed in troop transport tanks and on the tops of BMP-3s.
Roycelandia
28-11-2004, 05:43
Mohammed looked downcast. "But someone is already in charge. Why are you here?"

And with that, a small horde of Market Ladies and Traders descended on the convoy, trying to sell rugs, coffee, produce, and other trinkets to the soldiers, as Mohammed melted into the crowd and slashed the tyres on one of the trucks with a small knife...

28-11-2004, 06:50
The troops were overwhelmed by the civilians, "Get back, everyone get back!", they screamed, pushing the manic vendors away from their vehicles with the butts of their guns. "We have to keep moving everyone get back!"

A loud hiss was heard and one of the troop transport trucks sunk down on one side. "Shit, we've got a flat, one of these bastards slashed a tire!", screamed the driver over the dozens of voices yelling in Arabic.

The troops paniced now, "Look, everyone just get back!", they screamed as they looked down the barrels of their weapons.
Roycelandia
28-11-2004, 14:34
The sight of the guns scared some of the Arabs. It also angered some of them

"Go home! Leave our country! Begone!" They began to shout.

Seeing where this was heading, Zarqi loaded his rifle and began to sight up the Jamaican Troops. Hopefully, there wouldn't be any shooting- they weren't ready yet, not yet- but if Allah willed it...
Jamaica Reborn
28-11-2004, 18:00
"We're here to help! Let us pass!", the troops screamed back, "Don't make things difficult! We're only here to help!"

The blog of civilians in the narrow road had stopped the convoy dead in its tracks, they were covered on all sides by ranting, Arab civilians. The head of the convoy called in for air support, and two loaded Cobra Attack Helicopters were soon hovering over the area.

"Let the troops pass, I repeat, let the troops pass.", blasted out of two loud speakers from a Cobra as it circled around the area.

The arrival of helicopters was unexpected. Zarqi lowered his rifle and vanished into the alleys. He knew how this would go down.

The Crowd slowly dispersed, the choppers having the desired effect.

Later That Night

"Look, it's very simple" Farquhar said to the small group of Rebels, as they met in a small cellar of a farmhouse outside the town.

"Choppers only have a very limited range, so there's an airbase somewhere. Perhaps a raid on that might be in order?"

Zarqi, the unofficial leader, agreed. "We shall send someone out this evening to find the Airbase. The invaders must not stay in our land."

Jamaican Airbase, 5 miles outside of city

Chinooks flew busily in and out of the hastily made airbase, bringing down weapons and supplies from the secured cities in the south. The airbase was essentially a large box, 1/2 mile x 1/2 mile, heavily guarded by tall, metal outposts on each of its for corners. There was a force of around 800 men that were constantly there, most personnel, but all were trained in combat and were efficiently armed. They had let their guard down slightly, and lazily looked out into the desert brush, scowering the land for any suspicious movements. Not hearing of the disruptions going on within the city, they naturally assumed that it had been secured much like the ones in the south, and sensed no real danger of being attacked. Besides, the enemy, if there was any enemy, simply didn't have the equipment or man power.

The Arab raiders approached under cover of darkness. This particular raid was designed simply to wake up the Jamaicans... to let them know they weren't going to take the region without a fight.

About 3am in the morning, the first RPG rockets were fired into the Airbase, along with fusilades of small arms fire. The Resistance had begun...

3 Jamaican soldiers boarding a chinook were killed immediately as an RPG round hit the side of the transport helicopter, and another 11 were injured. Another round hit a stack of ammo that was just about to be transported to the police forces being trained in southern Chad, it set off a massive explosion, turning a chinook that was near it on its side. 29 troops were caught in the blast radius, 16 died, another 13 were injured. Another 4 troops were brought down by small arms fire, as they hustled to take cover from the incoming rounds.

The lookouts atop the metal towers surrounding the air base, fired wildly into the brush where the resistance was coming from. Two loaded cobra attack helicopters hastily lifted off amid all the chaos, and flew over the brush where they unleashed a barrage of missles and bullets onto any targets acquired through thermal goggles...

As soon as the RPGs were fired, some of the Arabs retreated into the scrub.

Others, caught up in the attack, kept firing. As soon as the choppers lifted, someone turned an MG on them, firing wildly.

Several raiders were killed by the return fire from the Jamaicans, and several more were cut down as they fled. But the important thing was this: A message had been sent to the Jamaicans. This Country did NOT want to be part of the Jamaican Empire...

The hit and run attack had left the soldiers within the supply base shaken up, and had given them insight on the real danger of the situation. The injured were immediately taken care of by medics, and the soldiers who had fallen in the attack were placed in body bags, they would soon be taken back to the homeland for a honorable burial. The choppers chasing the Arabs eventually lost their body heat traces, and circled back around to return to base. One of the choppers armor had been slightly damaged by small arms fire, but other than that they had been untouched.

Three platoons went out into the desert brush, searching for any injured Arabs. If any were captured, perhaps they could get something out of them....

The news quickly spread around Chad of the ambush at the airbase, and the slight unrest within the mainly Arab city which it was stationed outside of. The 20,000 Jamaican troops within the city insisted that they had the city's boundaries secure, and that no reinforcements were needed, not wanting to stretch the Jamaican army too far.

A Jamaican base had been set up in the middle of the city, in a three story abandoned building. The building was heavily guarded, and had a heavy rotation of Jamaican troops moving in and out of it regularly. The Jamaicans had tried speaking with natives, asking them about any police force that may be within the city. But from the way things looked, the city governed itself, and as of now the Jamaican's were the police. They could get nothing out of the natives, there seemed to be no mayor, or city council, there was no one they could speak with.

It seemed that if the Jamaican's wanted to better the city, then they'd have to install these things themselves...

IC: The Arabs had taken their wounded with them, fearing retribution from the Jamaicans. They had sought sanctuary in the various Wadis of the desert, waiting for their next chance to strike at the invaders

Across Chad, the Bush Telegraph spread news of the attack's success. Acquiring arms was the main problem, and one the Roycelandians were only too happy to help with- assuming they could actually get the arms in in the first place...

OOC: No problem.

IC:

The Chadanian borders, which Jamaican troops patrolled were reinforced with more troops and better equipment for tracking weapons were brought in. The Jamaicans knew that the Arab rebels had to have gotten the weapons they used from outside of Chad, but none of their weapons had been confiscated so from who they got them was still a mystery.

After border troops were given orders to be stiffer in their patrolling, all vehicles entering Chad were throughly searched for weapons, or weapon making materials.

Things seemed to be going well in southern Chad which was at a direct contrast with Northern Chad where bitter Arabs were causing trouble.
Roycelandia
12-01-2005, 05:32
Smuggling across land borders was too obvious...

Instead, aircraft were being utilised by the Roycelandians to airdrop or smuggle supplies to the Arabs.

More importantly, to maintain the illusion of realism, the aircraft were generally old C-47s, Lockheed Constellations, or even Ford Tri-Motors, painted in Air Afrique markings.

Operating at night, flying below the radars (such as it was in Chad), the Air Supply Missions had thus far been extremely successful...

After a few weeks of calmness within the Arab city, the Jamaican forces stationed there were confident that the insurgency had died down. Now that they believed that they had the city completely under control, their new objective was to establish some sort of social order within the city. Nigerian troops familiar with the Arab's language were sent out to communicate with they young men of the city, basically asking them a set of questions which led up to if they'd like to be apart of the city's police force. Responses to this varied greatly, from positive ones to none at all.

The city's most respected elders were located, thanks to tips by the locals, and translators were sent to their respective homes to ask for their cooperation in the establishment of a city council and police force in the city. Only time would tell what their reactions would be to this proposal.

The training of a police force from scratch meant that weapons to arm the police force once it was assembled needed to enter the city. Five large supply trucks, packed with a mixture of 9 millimeter pistols, AK-47s, stun grenades, and nightsticks, lumbered its way towards the city from a secured town in Southern Chad. The five trucks were escorted by 100 Jamaican-led, Nigerian troops, who rode inside of and on the tops of 10 BMP-3s, and 2 Leopard tanks.

The weapons that the trucks hauled might have seemed like overkill, but they would be used to arm a native Chadanian military force as well once a police force was established. It was in Jamaica's best interest that once Chad was in the possession of its own, updated military force, that it could adequately defend itself from potential invaders.

The Jamaican troops stationed in the Arab city had recieved tips from a few good citizens within the city about a strange man staying in a rundown motel. They suspected the man was from a different country, and the Jamaicans thought that he could be a possible spy, sent by the same people supplying the Arab rebels. A platoon of 15 Jamaican troops raided the motel, armed with M-16s, they went floor by floor, kicking down doors and searching rooms, so far their search had proved fruitless. There were only old men with young hookers in the rooms so far, nothing out of the ordinary. They arrived at the last door and kicked it down, 3 of the 15 troops rushed inside, this had to be the "strange man's" room.
