KIST Treaty Improves Iuthian Economy

Today saw the release of the latest figures from the Iuthian government confirming the claims made by the United Nations that Iuthia's economy has become much more productive under the Knootian International Stabalisation Treaty.

With the United Nations economic report released earlier this year, Iuthian ecomonic analysts were excited as the figures suggested a boom in the nations economic growth over the past couple of years, with this early information stocks rose in expectation of the Iuthian government releasing it's own report to further confirm it's economy was indeed getting stronger.

Many companies are now enjoying increased trade because of the KIST agreement and with this latest information Iuthia's businessmen are feeling the boost personally as the profits can be seen.

Over the last couple of years it had been suspected that the economic side of KIST was beginning to do the Iuthian economy well when many more Iuthian's found they had more money left over for luxuries they normally wouldn't concider, with this confirmation public opinion of Knootoss, the nation which started the treaty and has supported strongly throughout, is now higher then ever as the Knootian tourism industry is recording record numbers of Iuthian travellers visiting the dutch nation. One Iuthian Travel agent stated:

"The people here have become more facinated with the Knootian similarities to the Iuthian lifestyle, with only minor differences and relations being so good between our nations it has become the perfect tourist destination for many Iuthians."

The Knootian International Stabalisation Treaty is an economic treaty Iuthia joined several years ago in agreement with Knootoss and others that international trade should indeed be made easier and less political through a variable treaty depending on the level of economic freedom the nation in question wishes to join at, from "Planned" to "Fair" and even "Free" trade, the KIST treaty has allowed many nations from different backgrounds to be permitted entery, with only the more warmongering and outright disliked nations being turned down.

Some have criticised this over the years, but the majority like the occasional denials which are only really done in extreme cases, usually with the permission of the alliance as a whole.

Knootian-Iuthian trade volume increases another 7,3%
Knootians warming up to their new friends

IUTHIA – The Central Bureau for Statistics confirmed today that the volume of Knootian trade (imports and exports) to Iuthia has increased this quarter for another 7,3% compared to the same time last year. This increase in volume was particularly spurred by the tourism industries in both nations and by consumer goods and services. Economic analysts attribute this to the integrationist move spurred by Iuthian participation in the KIST treaty.

“Its really quite simple”, commented one analyst, “harmonising and interconnectionist effects have been particularly successful in bilateral trade between the DDR and Iuthia due to compatible cultural values, significantly speeding up the process.”

An Iuthian poll showing a high public opinion of Knootoss was mirrored today with the publishing of a Knootian study which ranked Iuthians very highly (with a positive score of 81 on a scale of 0-100, a score of 50 being indifference) , meaning that the relatively new Haven partner is now vying for the status of most sympathetic nation with longstanding allies such as Sunset, while surpassing the more conservative allies in Valinon and Lavenrunz and competing with newer partners such as the Lietuv people, Zvarinograd and Glorious Humanity. Overall, the study showed that Knootians are warming up to all of these trading partners while becoming more indifferent about the rest of the world.

INN Solar Threatens To Sue Iuthian News Network

NENYA, WEDNESDAY - Many will be greatly yet utterly not in the least surprised that INN Solar - the Imperial National Network - issued Wednesday a statement in which it threatened legal action against an Iuthian broadcaster calling itself 'INN'.

This legal wrangle is already being compared to several fiascos last year, when INN Solar - the original holder of the name - forced other, smaller networks to submit to its will regarding the use of the trademark registered to the ITC-group member corporation.

INN Solar released to the press a statement on the matter, which reads, "INN Solar cannot allow damage to come to the good name of this network. Although INN Solar does not claim that Iuthian News Network coverage is in any way inferior, the possibility that it may become inferior or already is such, is nonetheless indeed a potentiality. With that in mind, we must protect the future image of the corporation as strongly as the current image. Therefore, INN Solar requests that the Iuthian broadcaster causing the offense immediately shift brand emphasis from the trademark 'INN' tag to the full-length version of the name, to prevent confusion between a regional broadcaster and the solar journalistic and entertainment empire that is INN Solar."

Official Statement in reply to the INN Solar Lawsuit

Firstly we should inform you that Iuthian National News (INN) is not in itself a News Network, but it is in fact a news program which is played on the Iuthian Broadcasting Network (IBN) in the same manner as the program "Iuthian Holidays" (http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=364584).

This Nation News program has been broadcasted for well over fifty years within the Benevolent Dictatorship of Iuthia and before this latest report, which we assumed you finally noticed, it had no qualms with any other INN in other nations such as the Aelosian company the "Institute of National Nutrition"

The IBC is a goverment run organisation which broadcasts our non-subscription channels and is often seen as the offical broadcasting company for the governments annoucements and programming. INN, the program which you seek to sue, is mostly broadcast for Iuthians who understand it's a Iuthian program about Iuthian News and understand fully that it's not affiliated with INN Solar.

Regardless of this however, we have taken legal advise from both the government and Iuthian High-Court Judges that this lawsuit is irrelevant in Iuthia and as such can be ignored as nothing more then a waste of time.

We appreciate the criticism of your company and we will pay attention and perhaps in the future even concider changing our format. However for the time being any attempt to sue the IBC in such a manner will be ignored as the lawsuit is not aplicable in an Iuthian Court of Law. As for an International Court of Law... we wouldn't reckognise such a Court and as such it is irrelevent.

In the future we would advise looking further into the background of both the companies you wish to sue and the nations which they are situated in... no doubt your company has lost valuable resources hiring expensive lawyers who should have informed you that such a lawsuit would not produce any results.

Thanks for your interest,

Mark Johnson, Public Relations Representative of IBN

Imperial Trade Conglomerate issues official statement supporting INN Solar

TURATH, WEDNESDAY - The Imperial Trade Conglomerate is, on behalf of INN Solar, asserting to the Iluvauromeni Economic Court its right to request government support in the protection of an asset valuable to the Commonality and the growth of the economy.

The right involved - as guaranteed under the Iluvauromeni Constitution - has not been exercised by a group of individuals before, so it is unclear what decision the Economic Court is likely to take.

This comes following claims by Iuthia that the INN program - previously in error named as a network, in a blunder largely ignored by the ITC - is in fact not an international news program, but relates mostly to Iuthian news, begging the question: why does the logo boldly call the program 'INN International News'?

The ITC Legal Division also released a brief statement regarding the situation.

Confusions aside, Iluvauromen Financial News will ensure that up-to-date information on this intriguing turn of events.

The ITC intends to continue its policy of fully supporting its employees and their assets, and as such, we are committed to resolving this situation to the satisfaction of INN Solar.

OOC: Actually, we stated it was in fact a program, not that it only covers national news. Mostly it reports news relevent to the nation though international news is provided for news which is relevent to Iuthians.

Meanwhile the logo is "INN News International" which is actually a copy on the BBC logo from real life and is in fact more of a error on my behalf where I didn't remove the News part.

The IC justification for this probably goes: The logo is a logo, so in order for people reading the website in question to understand that it's news and not something else, which is possible because like the BBC it's got more then just news on it. As for "International" well thats the subject in question, it changes depending on the subject, such as "Health" in another report I made in a previous thread.

Basically the reason I'm replying OOC is because IC we've throw this issue out and we will not really respond unless there is some direct communication which will probably just echo their public statement on the issue. We won't change because it's a law we don't recognise and because it's government run they won't back down on the matter because they are supported by the government.

Iuthian males measure up for Sexual Health Week

Today saw the release of a new medical report concerning the average Iuthian males sexual health for this weeks Sexual Health campaign which sets out to measure the average Iuthians endowments as well as their general health and awareness of STDs.

This week has been dedicated to the sexual health of Iuthia’s population to raise awareness of the importance of taking precautions and getting medical advice to protect against foreign Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs) and to further spread the word a number of reports regarding the health of our nation have been released this week in the hope of highlighting the issue further.

Earlier today one of these reports, funded in by both the Iuthian government and the Iuthian Guild of Negotiable Affection (IGNA) concerning the health of the average Iuthian male and, for the additional interest their average measurements in the trouser department only discover that the majority of Iuthian males measure in average around 7” to anything up to 10” or more in rarer cases. The explanation given for such interest by the IGNA simply hinted that the research was to be put to “good” use and was mainly agreed upon in order to increase the profile of the report to appeal to Iuthians so more would pay attention to the results of the medical research.

The majority of the report hints at the Iuthian population being well informed from a young age about the risks of unprotected sex and that the health of your average Iuthia is above the world average because of the frank open attitudes within the Iuthian society where other cultures may have trouble talking. The report also states that because of this awareness and care the rate of STDs in Iuthia is lower then that of the world average.

Dr. Ryan Manton gives his opinion of the report:

"Quite frankly we are amazed at the findings, I mean, we’ve always concidered Iuthians to be rather healthy because of the common place habit of excercise, but we never suspected it to this extent… it will certain give Iuthian something to think about during the week. Otherwise the rest of it isn’t really news to me, I’ve always known deep down that many of our citizens are reasonable with their bodies… so the likelihood of them catching STDs are much less. Still, I’m glad to hear of this..."

Lord General deGritz announces engagement to Liessa Valleron

After much speculation as to Lord General James deGritz's relationship with Liessa Valleron (http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=343536), the elven presenter of the holiday program "Iuthian Holidays", he has finally announced his intention to marry the celebrity in a private event.

The rumours began late last spring when the Lord General was seen leaving a famous restaurant with the lovely Liessa Valleron on what was rumoured to be date. These rumours were eventually confirmed by the Iuthian Governments Public Relations Minister and the relationship was made public, but to the joy of nationalists everywhere.

During the long months that followed, much of their relationship was kept well away from public view but a few events were done with the couple both present and looking to be truelly in love.

After the recent social event in Aerion, Lord General deGritz preposed to Liessa and was accepted. In the later week we were informed of this event by the Public Relations Minister and the followed resently by the Lord General himself.

Now as preparations are made for the upcoming wedding cerimony which is rumoured to be taking place before the end of the year we shall be following the upcoming events.

First Cybernetic Replacement for eyes becomes available!

IUTHIA PRIMA, MONDAY - The first pair of "cybereyes" were successfully implanted at the Iuthian Centre of Cybernetic Research today, marking the begining of a new age for the visually impared in Iuthia.

At the Centre of Cybernetic Research many years had been spent perfecting the technology which would be implanted into Bill Watson, a man who had rare condition which slowly reduces his vision up to the point where at the young age of 28, he had become blind.

The eyes themselves are coloured to look almost normal, though they are noticable when looked at close. The majority of the studies done at the Centre were perfecting the intergration of the technology with the body which would allow the light picked up by the cybereyes to be transmitted into the brain as an image.

Dr Steinam, leader of the Senseware Research Team had this to say:

"Once cybernetic replacements were concidered a thing of science-fiction, a fantasy of roleplayers and television shows alike who dreamt of a future where man and machine became one to overcome problems. Now this fantasy has become a reality Bill Watson, in the next several years it will become a for many visually impeared people like him who wish to see with perfect 20/20 vision. However, this is more then a thiumpth for the blind and visually impared, as it proves cybernetics can be sucessfully inplanted into a person without the body rejecting it. We hope that in the next few years we will have replacements for entire arms, which are more then just a prosphetic, but are in fact just as capable as their own hands once were.

We are very excited about this, who knows what the future will hold for Iuthia?"

Indeed, we look to the future of this technology as Iuthian Corperation, Ares Macrotechnology are gaining interest in the field and are now being allowed to assist in research and funding of this new technology. Cyberware could common place in years to come.

New 'Balance' Tail, a first in a new wave of prototype commcercial cybernetics

IUTHIA PRIMA, TUESDAY - Ares Macrotechnology demonstates the first prototype to be completed in a line of non-medical cybernetic enhancements to become available for sale in the emerging cyberware market in Iuthia

Earlier today at Ares Macrotechnology's annual demostation of information technology to come for the new year, technophiles revelled at the latest cybernetics on display from the Weapons and Information Technology company.

In last years convention, demostations of possible medical cybernetic replacements were displayed though they lacked working examples due to refinements still being made. Later in the year we saw the first successful and fully operational installation of Cybernetic Eye replacements, now becoming increasingly popular with the those who have both eye disabilities and the money to fund replacement.

However, this year we saw David Stephenson, an Iuthian performer who's trapeze act was damaged by an unfortunate ear condition affecting his balance. In his return debut David performed one of his more common acts requiring balance... however, his act itself didn't amaze the crowd as much as the one metre long metalic tail he was using to help balance him.

The developers described the new implant:

"Grafted onto the base of Mr. Stephenson's spine, this cybernetic tail extends for slightly more then one metre. Connected to an expert system balance processor, the tail adjusts Mr. Stephenson's centre of gravity to optimise his balance.

One of the more shocking features of the Balance tail is the simple fact that it is not controlled by the users concious control, however to help those afraid of AI horror movies rest at night the tail lacks artifical intelligence and instead simply helps keep the user balanced.

Obvicously Mr. Stephenson has to have customised clothing for this implant as few clothing lines take into consideration that their customer may have a tail... however various Neko clothing lines and companies prepared to customise clothes themselves can fix such issues.

Also, in tje unlikely event of failure, we have also included balance augmentation into Mr. Stephenson's ears to repair previous problems... the additional of a tail wasn't entirely needed, but in his line of work we both felt that it would improve his profile and overall balance."

Reactions from the public to this prototype have been varied, many found the idea seemed rather pointless, others found it amusing and interesting... while the balance tail isn't likely to attract much attention from most Iuthian's, it has intrigued many simply because of it's outlandish look. The system is likely to be available by the end of the year.

Actually, it's an interest I've recently got into which I'm expanding my technology into... it's not the concept of my nation (as Iuthia is nothing like any nations in Shadowrun) it's just I like the technology. It's future tech but not too much so in most cases.

Lord General deGritz awarded Knootian civil rights award

Today in Knootoss's mega-city, Knootcap, Amsterdam, the prestigious Knootian Civil Rights Award was presented to the Lord General James deGritz to reckcognise his work towards improving civil rights in Iuthia. The Lord General travelled to Knootoss earlier today especially to recieve the Award.

The Knootian Civil Rights award is an annual award given out to exceptional individuals to "reckognise the courageous and creative work of individuals and organizations that have advanced the cause of sentient rights and civil liberties around the NS world." Each year the J.R. Vogels Institute for Civil rights and Democracy choose such individuals to present the award to, the latest being the Lord General himself for the socially progressive actions of the Iuthian government, helping the nation to be proud of thier wide ranging civil freedoms. They also noted how "in these dark times where oppression and authoritarian regimes are high-tide, Iuthia has managed to steer clear of degenerative fundamentalism and populism, while maintaining a free and multicultural society. This is to be praised."

Iuthian journalists were present to watch the Civil Rights Award being offered to our Lord General who graciously accepted the award and replied with a short speech.

"I would like to thank the J.R. Vogels Institute for Civil rights and Democracy for rewarding me with this award in reckognition of Iuthia's hard work to make a more enjoyable free society, though I feel I alone cannot be held responcable for our nations social progress. Without the acceptance from the people themselves and willing to co-operate in the many social programs run by the Iuthian government it could not have been possible to achieve such a society today.

And of course, I cannot forget my father, former Lord General Bolivar deGritz who worked so hard to bring Iuthian in the light, probably one of the few Benevolent Dictators recognised by our History today... without him none of this would have begun.

Thanks for your kind word, people of Knootoss, for we are grateful. "

With that the Lord General accepted the Award itself; a small-scale replica of the Light of the West, an elvish artefact once used by William of Knootcap during the Knootian struggle for independence and religious freedom. The Light of the West looks something like a shiney bowl with a large round lightbulb with marble covering. The Lord General then bowed to the small gathering of people, followed by an appluased, a look of statisfaction on his face.

Lord General deGritz's Wedding Day

It's been a long time coming, but today is the day when our Lord General, James deGritz is finally going to wed the beautiful Liessa Valleron in a private ceremony later today.

Officially the couple were engaged several months ago after attending the Knootian-Biotopian wedding, an event which provided the country with much gossip about the pairs relatationship before then. The organisation for the wedding has been delayed a number of times due to events outside of Iuthia's control, however today we will see a conclusion of all the organisation as the couple get married later today at noon in Callisham Castle, Iuthia Prima.

It's rumoured that many foriegn guests from nations allied to Iuthia were invited to attend the ceremony to symbolise their continued relationship with the Lord General and Iuthia, though the real party will be taking place later this evening during the nation wide celebrations as part of the new holiday announced to commemorate the occasion.

Eitherway, it looks like the weather will be excellent today around Iuthia Prima... some analysts are suggesting this a little irregular for the current season, however the majority of them are happy enough for their holiday to be on a warm day with a light breeze.

Terrorist attack devastates Iuthian allies!

The deepwater port of Armonvale, well known among international traders as being perhaps one of the busiest ports in the Empire of the Resurgent Dream found itself to be the target of the biggest terrorist attack on the nation in it's history, the blast devastating the port and surrounding areas as well and many innocent lives.

Early reports are suggesting casualty figures are likely to reach as high as fifty six thousand, with many more injured. Iuthian families of businessmen and tourists known to have been near the area are making efforts to confirm that their loved ones haven't been affected by the incident, however many are unaccounted for at this early stage as the Empire of the Resurgent Dream has closed it's borders and declared a state of emergency, holding offical commincations until further information on the incident is available.

http://www.nationstates.net/images/flags/st_pierre_and_miquelon.jpg
The Danaan High Kingdom
of The Resurgent Dream

As of the moment the Danaan Government has only given a small amount of information on the details of the situation thus far, however we are assured that their Prime Minister is safely protected out of harms way, however High Queen Agwene of the Empire of the Resurgent Dream is unaccounted for. A situation which is concerning many, especially due to the early reports of fighting in the Capitol city.

Normally the port of Armonvale is bustling with business from both local and foriegn trade, importing electronics such as computers and telecommunications equipement from Iuthian businesses. Due to it's important role in the nations economy and foriegn trade it's likely that it was targetted to hit hard on the Danaan Government as well as advertise their cuase to foreign nations.

Eitherway, the Lord General of Iuthia has already given a short statement of condolences after being informed of the situation in full.

"On behalf of a nation, I would like to offer my sincerest condolences for the sudden loss of so many lives in such a cowardly attack against the Danaan people. In these dire times of need for the Empire of the Resurgent Dream I feel it is our duty as both an ally and friend of this peaceful nation to offer our fullest assistance in humanitarian, economic and military efforts to help the Danaan people in thier darkest hour.

I understand that given the distances between our nations we cannot directly help with those thought to be lost in the destruction of Armonvale port, as we simply couldn't bring assistance quick enough. However in place of this we would like to provide the victims of these atrocities with aid to help them continue their lives fully, as they have right to do so.

We also offer the Danaan people economic and military aid to help fully stabilise the nations economy and bring those whom would kill innocents to the full justice of the Danaan people... I would like to think that as allies to the Empire of the Resurgent Dream we should do our best to ensure the future safety of their people.

It is only my hope that this is enough to help our friends in this time of need.

Thankyou, that is all."

IDC to 'clean out' infamous Blacklist

The Iuthian Government announced earlier today in the latest series of press conferences that the world renowned Iuthian ‘Black List’, a long list of nations condemned and embargoed by the Iuthian Government for various reasons, is to undergo massive reforms, in some cases completely removing some nations from the infamous list.

These changes are part of the newest decisions made by acting Lord General Turgidson, acting in conjunction with the head of the Iuthian Diplomatic Corps, which outline the overall changes in the way the Iuthian Diplomatic Corps conducts itself.

Foreign Minister Mick Lakely had this to say about the latest IDC reforms:

"Prior to the Lord General leaving Iuthia for his honeymoon, we were informed in detail on his views on the Iuthian Diplomatic Corps, expressing in his wisdom that without change the IDC will grow stagnant and find itself increasingly unable to properly react to the changing world.

In accordance with his wishes, several meetings were conducted between the most senior members of the Iuthian Diplomatic Corps where we came to the conclusion that the Blacklist, one of our most proud creations now copied by other governments throughout the world, is in need of a certain degree of change and review in order to take into account the changes in Iuthian policy and changes in the nations themselves.

On such nation, Hogsweat, has for long enough been blacklisted for various charges of mass slaughter against their own people and other acts deemed wholly inappropriate by the Iuthian Government… recently this nation has seen many reforms and it is our feeling that such nations, who display the will to change, deserve rewards in order to fully encourage them and other nations to improve their international relations.

Iuthia’s position now on such nations is to remove them from the list completely and instead impose economic measures on any trade they wish to conduct with the Iuthian government which will, in time, move towards that of the standard Iuthian tariffs on trade. With this we hope to encourage long term changes in the government who reform.

With this new attitude of forgive and forget, we hope that Iuthia can increase it’s diplomatic presence around the world while retaining it’s strong values."

Already in response the these latest changes Iuthia has removed Hogsweat, and other similar nations who have showed promise, from the Iuthian blacklist, opening it’s trade to these nations and effectively congratulating them on their reforms. As of yet few nations have had chance to react to these changes as the situation develops.

Faster-Then-Light Technology Acheived, Iuthia Triumphs Over Laws of Relativity!

IUTHIA PRIMA, MONDAY - High above the Earth's orbit, Iuthian Space Carrier the aptly named "Bolivar's Pride" completed it's most vital testing period today as it made it's first hyperspace jump from Earth's orbit to Dominion space earlier today.

For several generations, the governments controversial space program has been working on developing an effective space fleet to protect the Benevolent Dictatorship from the potential threat posed by other unstable Intergalactic nations much in the same way that the Iuthian army protects us from unstable members of the International community.

Only recently has Iuthia seen the direct rewards of these technological advances as the technological advances are slowly trickling down into other more mundane parts of Iuthian life, such as communications networks and the highly anticipated virtual reality programming tools.

The Bolivar's Pride itself is concidered to be the peak of Iuthian engineering, taking over fifteen years to build in Iuthia's Scaffolding Station (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v258/Iuthia/Space/ScafoldingStation.jpg) with assistance of the Vortex Corperation's build/repair drone, the Space Carrier has a mass of just over 600'000 tons with enough space for several wings of Iuthian fighters and corvettes.

With this accomplishment, many of the Iuthian Space Fleet back home are preparing additional celebrations to commemorate this occasion, including formation displays with Iuthian "Ghost" scout fighter craft in the ships honor.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v258/Iuthia/Space/Flight.jpg

Lord General James deGritz personally commented on Scientist General Kristine and her crew for their achievement:

"This is a great moment in Iuthian History; our people will look back on this moment as the begining of Iuthia's glorious space age as we will now enter the Intergalactic Community and make our mark in the stars themselves.

Sceintist General Kale has done more then enough to make sure this project has continued and now I'm sure that anything I add to the occasion is only an exclamation mark on the personal success she has accieved in completing this task. Never the less the work she and her crew has done will not be forgotten... she will go down in our history as perhaps the woman who invented the first Iuthian FTL technology."
