Aimira

Live From Aimiran National News Headquarters, this is David Eterton.....

"As of 5:16pm, EST, an earthquake that is feared to be measured at 7.2 on the Richter scale has hit around the massive populated area of Cape Zion. With a population around 19 million, we fear the worst. We have recieved word that as a result of the earthquake, four miles up Ease River, the Xeres Dam broke; unleashing about 400 tons of water. Our experts estimated that within twelve minutes the water reached the downtown area of Cape Zion. This is a sad day in Aimiran history, not only do I not have the words to express the emotion, but I do not have the strength to tell the rest of this story......[long pause looking down from the camera]....Hold on, we have just received word that President Bostian is about to give an announcment.

[President Bostian walks slowly to the podium, looks up at the camera and clears his throat.]

"I do not even know how to begin to express how I feel as of now. 23 minutes ago, a massive earthquake ripped through the downtown area of Cape Zion, destroying a large portion of the city. Not only did the earthquake destroy vast majorities of innocent people, but the Xeres dam created a substantial amount of damage all along the Ease River to Cape Zion. Experts predict that within 17 minutes, a tidal wave will reach the shores of Aimira around the Cape Zion area. They predict the wave to be equivalant to a 28 story building and will reach about 2 miles inland. The military is evacuating what parts they can reach. [Begins to sob] Unfortuantely, we will not be able to reach the survivors in Cape Zion. We are estimating a loss of 16 million lives as the result of the earthquake/tidal wave. No one will be able to reach Cape Zion until about three days. I pray to God that he spares the ones he can and if he can't then let them pass away with un-painful death. [Someone comes up and whispers in his ear for a couple of minutes] We have just recieved word that the tidal wave has reached shore and has caused even more substaintal amount of damage. We expect the South Anatolian Fault line will produce after shocks all the way up and down the coast of Aimira. I am now going to declare martial law for the four coastal proviences. And for the rest of the country, I urge you to help your fellow man any way you possible can. God bless this country in this time of need."

"After hearing of the tradgedy that has happened upon that marvelous country I send President Bostian my deepest consolidations and I share his grievances. Upon hearing this terrible, terrible news, I dismiss the minor industrial trouble that has befallen my country, and I am sending all possible aid to Aimira staright away. I can only hope that what I give is enough, allthough there is nothing, nothing, that could possibly make up for the loss of life."

It has been reported that Loed Azureai has commanded that all available millitary forces be sent to help in rescuse operations, and 10, 000, 000 Large copper blocks have been spent on Aid and supplies.

We interupt your regular programing to bring you this important message....

"In the past three hours since the major Cape Zion earthquake, the coast of Aimira has experienced eleven aftershocks that have had a 6.1 magnitude. We are already estimating the loss of life around 28 million. Volunteers and armed forces are working around the clock to rescue and save any one caught in the path of this horrific earthquake. We now have an airial view of Cape Zion after the major earthquake. [Shows some large skyscrapers ling against one another, major damage on the ground, the sky is filled with black smoke, the downtown area is under water with large skyscrapers sticking out. Shows bodies floating down the river.] The horrific footage you have just seen is what is left of southern Amiria along the coast around Cape Zion. Vice President Martin is expected to arrive outside of Cape Zion to help out with the rescue stations, along with the First Lady. Meanwhile, President Bostian is working closely with the Red Cross, the Salvation Army, and the unexpected support with the U.N. We will keep you up todate on the continuing coverage of the Cape Zion earthquake."

" As the world knows, our country is in the middle of finding its way back to a sound leadership. But I encourage our country to put that aside and lets help our common man in his time of need. I am personally working closely with the Adullam's branch of the Red Cross to send personal aid to those in need in Aimira. I want to take a moment of silence to remeber those who have died and those who are dying to save lives. The world can take Aimira and use it as an example of great leadership and a great country to live in. The Democratic Party is using half of its funds to support the Aimiran economy and victims of the recent quake. We will work day and night until that country gets back on its feet. My opponent, Wilson, feels that we should cut off all ties and forget what used to be our closest ally. I say NO. People of Adullam, lets unite like Aimira and help with their greatest burden."

[massive applause from the halls of the Capital Building and all around the big screens outside]

"Go, take the rest of these bottles of water and give them to anyone you would like."

"Thank you, thank you Mrs. Bostian. You and your husband do such a great job running this nation." stated an edely lady hopping off the doctors table.

"No, it is you who do such a great job in running this nation." respond Mrs. Andrea Bostian.

[As she helped the old lady out of the tent, she began to pack up the rest of the medical supplies left over from the long, stressful day of helping the residences outside of Cape Zion. As she finished putting up the supplies, she stepped out of the tent and looked straight ahead at the horizon. She saw in the distance the billowing clouds of black smoke from downtown Cape Zion.]

"Mrs. First Lady" [was said as a woman approached]
"Yes"
"A few minutes ago another aftershock hit the region around Nobs Head." spoken in an un-spirited manner.

"Your point Ms. Clarisa."

"The President was in the downtown area along with the Vice-President handing out water when the earthquake hit. Eyewitnesses said that they where standing right where a building fell. However, no one saw the building actually fall on to them, just no one has been able to get through to either the President or the Vice-President."

"Oh...[she slowly sits down on the ground] What is the...umm...the likelihood of...you know." said brokenly by the First Lady.

"The chances of them suriving ma'am, is about 30% depending on the amount of damage that has occured in Nabs Head."

"Oh...[tears begin to run down her dirty cheeks]...For now, keep this underwrapes from everyone. Make sure no one has the feeling that our President and Vice-President is dead. The country has enough stress as it is. Clarisa, please tell Father Marian to meet me at 6:30."

"Yes ma'am, I will let you know anything that comes my way."

"Thank you." [Ms. Clarisa walks away] God, if this is your judgement on us, please forgive us of any transgressions that we have committed against you. PLEASE God SAVE MY HUSBAND." [see puts her head in her hands and begins to cry]

"Good afternoon, I am Steven Lott reporting for ANN"

"Since last weeks earthquake, the country of Aimira has never before united in such a way that has every been seen. Rival gangs have laid down their weapons and pawned them for money to donate, rival political groups have put aside their differences, and racist factions are working with the people that have in histories past persecuted them."

"Two days ago the President was recovered from the damaged area of Nobs Head and was sent to the regional hospital. He is currently in critical condition. Unfortuanetly, the Vice-President did not survive. According to the Aimiran constitution, the First Lady will be sworn in as President-temp in just a few minutes, she will continue to be president until her husband can return. The aftershocks have ceased, and the estimated death toll has numbered around 34 million. The total damage was 87 billion amiraks. We now go live to Mrs. First Lady Bostian's initation speech."

"My fellow Aimirans. I come to you today, not as future President-temp, but as your friend. We have suffered more than any nation from any natural disaster. Countless lives have been lossed, countless homes have been lost, however, unity has hit our nation at such force. Under our consitution, I will be sworn in as your President until my husband can recover from his medical conditions. I will continue to oversee all my husbands plans and make sure they are fulfilled to the greatest extent."

[She turns away from the audience in front of the Capital building to face the Supreme Court Chief Justice.]

"By the constitution of this country of Aimira we come before the citizens to initate a leader that will stand in for the President. By Article IV, the 29th amendment, we now come before Mrs. Andrea Bostian to present the role of President. Mrs. Andrea Bostian, do you promise by the grace of God Almighty, do fulfill the requirements and the duties of the Presidency. {Yes I do} Do you promise to keep democracy and the laws at the forefront of your temporary administration. {Yes I do} And do you promise to protect the country with all you might {Yes I do} By the power of the Constitution, I now declare you President of the Democratic Republic of Aimira."

[Applause from the crowd. She approaches the podium again]

"Do not clap for me. Clap for the people helping in the greatest hour of our country. Never did I think the day would come when I see such unity surpass the unity I saw when we strived for independence thirty years ago. I promise that I will be what my husband was, and still is. I encourage you to keep this peace and unity that we see always at the front of your heart. There will be a day when we over come this horrific event, but do not let that stop you from what you see today. Since the Cape Zion earthquake, the crime rate is at 1%. I pray that you won't let such events dictate how we treat each other. I am sorry, but I have to cut this speech off because I have to get back to work in the area around Cape Zion. To my fellow citizens of the world, do not hesitate to show support for a nation in need. Already we are shown support from Jonzaisha and Adullam. To all of you, take care and god bless."
