Long live the Duke!
The traitor Safarus was executed early this morning finally ending his months of tyranny. Before Savuroun was declared independant the Duke Tiberius was cast out in a violent overthrow of the Ducal rule by his cousin Safarus Accipiter, Tiberius was forced to seek refuge in nearby Sweet Horne while his cousin racked his iron claw across Savuroun in the months preceeding the country's acceptance into the international community. Safarus increased taxs dramatically and severly crippled heavy industry leaving only "underwater basket weaving" as a viable industry.
With Savurouns soverignty came the old duke to free his people. Tiberius soon captured the traitor and put him on trial for crimes against the peoples of Savuroun.
With Safarus dead Savuroun can now rebuild and take its place among the countries of the world. However, the road to recovery will be long and difficult. Duke Tiberius calls for international aid to restore stability and aid in economic recovery. In exchange the Duke promises to make available the services of the countries leading Faster Than Light travel scientists. Hopefully the international community will respond and show a new country kindness.
