Throughout Kahta, suddenly, on TV's, Radios, and on government internet web sites this message came up:

This is King Sam MacDonald of your country. Just over 5 minutes ago, I authorized a nuclear attack against a slave bearing country that recently sold over 100,000 fellow humans into slavery. 50,000 men. 30,000 children. 20,000 Women. This will not stand in Kahta, and it is an insult to the human race, and to our race, the White race. 1,000 nuclear missiles were launched against Millia. While 500 of these will come from space based units, the other 500 from submarines.

Credonia is appaled by this blatent use of unnecessary force against a nation that did not constitute a nuclear threat to your nation. Unless proof is given that this nation presented a nuclear threat to your nation, Credonia will sever all relations with your nation because of this act, an act that totally disregards the value of any and all human life.

The missiles were clear to see, and they seemed to be aimed for a small country who had nothing to do but buy and sell slaves. While an odorous practice, it's not something to go nuclear over. Masaki Doctrine (one of them) dictates that any nation who begins war with a nuclear strike is to be condemned, and the missiles nullified.

"Defense just came in. The Empress just ordered them shot down!" The same guy reported.

The Laser AntiMissile Defense System (LAMDS) came online and once they detected the targets, they began to shoot powerful emerald laser beams at the missiles and their platforms. There were 20 LAMDS satellites over in that sector of NS Earth, several more moving in, and 500 missiles to take out. It's going to be tough.

347 of the 500 SLBM's were stopped at the last possible second. It was too late for the space launched ICBM's.

OOC: This implies they have accepted the damage... as much as it looks like the "OMFG I n00ks j00" attack will seriously fuck up this nation (as well at threatening to start mutually assured destruction) there is still meant to be a turn based system in place which:

a) Allows the nation to use any defences they have within the realistic time they have. (I.E you attack, they defend... that is the basics of nationstates combat, regardless of whether or not they can respond straight away)

b) Allows the nation to note if the attack worked and how much damage it inflicted... so far nothing has happened, nor will it unless the nation actually accepts it.


Yeah, it's a legimate attack which is pretty damn over the top and in the real world, potentially suicidal, but that doesn't mean the basics can be ignored. Even if they are screwed. I've seen nuclear attacks ignored just because they are nuclear attacks (and as such damage RP).

Edit to add: I'll IC respond to this if it's actually accepted... if it degenerates into something where one side ignores the other then screw it.

OOC: not true, it'd take about ten times this amount of nukes fired at the same time to actually affect the world IF every one of them hit. As of now, only 13 MIRVs survived the CW attack.

Despite our strong dislike of the Kahtans, and the flagrant abuse of power displayed by the Kahtan King, McLeod03 will remain neutral in this situation. Should conflict break out amongst the civilian areas of Mllia, our forces will be deployed to protect civilian areas, and ANYONE entering these zones will not be allowed to pass carrying a weapon, no matter what nationality.

We will need some help, because our army is mobilized for war, we'll be unable to protect these civilians. We have made some Civilian Points. These points are surrounded with walls and have houses, small clinics and food depots. We just need some military personel to keep these points safe. I would strongly recommend you do not attack Kahta. The attack would be a waste of your troops, and then there would be no one to defend your homeland. If you are making a plea for aid, we will provide troops to defend these "Civilian Points", but only on the condition that the area within those walls is considered firearm free, with the only exception being McLeodian troops, who will be issued with non-lethal ammunition.

T-98 Main Battle Tank

The Mississippian Armored Corp decided in 1998 that they wanted a new tank, a new model that would borrow some of the best things of the T-90, while at the same time be a leap forward in armored technology. The main things they were looking for were protection, firepower, and crew survivability. Engineers for Fabus Munitions submitted designs for the T-98 MBT and they were promptly accepted. The tank would be the heaviest ever produced by Mississippi; it would weigh in at about 82 tons and have a 145mm main gun.

Testing was done in June of 1998 with prototypes of the T-98 going against other tanks (All models of Abrams, T-72s, T-80s, T-90s, T-94s, and ½ dozen other medium and heavy tanks)

The testing revealed the following.

Strengths: The tank was impervious to all known ATGMs, RPGs, mines, and most other main gun tank rounds. The tank had a crew survivability rate that essentially put all other tanks to shame. The main gun of the T-98 was capable of “one-hit” kills against all known tanks. The tank was able to withstand numerous hits to the side and front armor fired in rapid succession at ranges from 300+ meters from various enemy tanks. For all intents and purposes, the front and side armor were proof against all known enemy land weaponry.

Weaknesses: The biggest problems that the tank faced were that it was very slow compared to other tanks. It had a tendency to breakdown, and above average maintenance needed to keep it in working condition. Also the tank was a gas-guzzler. The tank also had the drawback of being “heard before it’s seen”, it could be heard approaching from about two miles away. The problem crews reported the most was the inability to traverse difficult terrain, without being towed out by not one, but two heavy tank towers. The tank had poor ability to operate in the mud, soft sand, snow, and loose terrain in general. The tank carried a hefty price tag at approximately 10 million dollars.

T-98W Super-Heavy Main Battle Tank

The Mississippian Armored Commanded with the approval of the Army High Command decided in June of 2004 that an upgraded version of the T-98 MBT was needed to continue to assure CM supremacy in the field of armored warfare. The new tank would be the T-98W (Whiteness) so named after the title that the premier’s son Roger had chosen to be addressed as. This was a multi-corporation project, with Salazar Heavy Machining, Fabus Munitions Inc, and Thaller Advanced Weapons and Armor Corporation being the three main participants in the project.

By August of 2004 the first prototypes were ready for testing. Testing involved the prototypes of the T-98W going against other tanks (All models of Abrams, T-72s, T-80s, T-90s, T-94s, T-98 MBTs and two-dozen other medium and heavy tanks)

The testing revealed the following.

Strengths: The tank exhibited all the strengths of the T-98. In addition, the protection of armor and the killing power of the main gun were even far greater than it was in the T-98. The tank proved impervious to all known ATGMs, RPGs, mines, and most other main gun tank rounds. The tank had a crew survivability rate that essentially put all other tanks to shame. The main gun of the T-98W was capable of “one-hit” kills against all known tanks. The tank was able to withstand numerous hits to the side and front armor fired in rapid succession at ranges from 300+ meters from various enemy tanks. For all intents and purposes, the front and side armor were proof against all known enemy land weaponry. Even at 50 meters against the front or side armor, not a single tank round fired from a testing tank, did anything more to the T-98W than bounce off the side. The ultimate test came when the T-98W was able to withstand a 145mm round from the T-98 MBT against the side armor at a range of 50 meters. The tank had a superior fuel tank than the T-98 MBT, but this didn't mean anything about the mileage. The T-98 MBT got 1 mile per 4.4 gallons, the T-98W was lucky to get 1 mile per 5 gallons, it simply carried more fuel.

Weaknesses: The problems evident in the T-98 were much more evident in the T-98W. The tank was unable to cross most bridges without doing severe damage to them. Field Marshal Reginald Smith referred to the tank as, “The worst gas guzzling behemoth ever conceived by man” The biggest problem was the enormous cost to produce the tank. It was over three times as expensive as the T-98 MBT. The cost was 30 million dollars per T-98W. Another problem was that while the T-98 MBT required 2 heavy tank towers to tow it when it became mired in mud, the T-98W required 3.

The gun operates on a retraction system and the frame of the tank has been hardened to deal with the massive recoil. Prototype testing has shown this to be an effective system. 40 APFSDS, 20 HE rounds, 20 Heat rounds. Some tanks also carry up to 10 ATGMs, but that is dependent on the mission objectives and the anticipated enemy resistance.

Commander’s weapon: 7.62mm pintle-mounted six barrel F-12-LW Minigun (Very similar to the 20mm Fabus Munitions A-12-LW (Light Weight) cannon) except this is a 7.62mm model and weighs a great deal less. 12,000 round of ammunition.

Mounted remotely activated TOW Launcher on the side of the turret, protected by 200mm of armor. Can be reloaded by the Loader, but has 2 rockets ready and loaded in it.

Coaxial Weapon: 7.62 M240 Machinegun with 8,000 rounds of ammunition.

Loaders Weapon: Browning M-2 50 caliber machine gun, with 4,000 round of ammunition.

The Mississippian Armored Corp in 2004 that the T-98 MBT and the T-98W Super Heavy Tank were less than practical for modern armored warfare that largely occurred outside of built-up urban areas. Ease of movement was the most important aspect of the design of the T-99 Medium Tank.

In 1994, the United States of Shalrirorchia suffered an embarrassing defeat on the battlefield in a small, localized war. The USS Crusader Mark 2 suffered heavy losses to a Soviet-inspired tank class.

Army planners, unwilling to see such a fate befall the tankers in a future engagement, ordered a new tank class of superior design.

Development began in 1995, but the actual modern Super Crusader design was not actually put on the board until 2000. It was redesigned in late 2000 to take advantage of highly-advanced technologies only then becoming available. The Super Crusader has the distinction of being the ONLY USS tank ever designed by multiple firms; the Gistarai government actively encouraged Shalrirorchia's three leading defense corporations to pool their knowledge and technology.

ARMOR:
The Super Crusader, referred to also as the MBT-04B, incorporates highly-advanced armor that draws technology off a variety of sources throughout the free world. The MBT-04B uses Reactive Composite Armor, giving the Super Crusader favorable defensive capability when compared to the M1A2 tank. The armor is not only lighter in weight, but stronger. The Shalrirorchians chose to retain a balance in armor-versus-weight...they did not increase the armor thickness over M1A2 standards. This means that the MBT-04B is just as fast as the Abrahms, but better armored. The MBT-04B is fully climate-controlled, rendering it immune to NBC weaponry. The crew is further protected by a titanium "crash cage" which puts one more layer of armor between them and harm.

The MBT-04B also includes a revolutionary defense system nicknamed "The Foe Hammer" by the tank corps. The LDS-04 (Laser Defense System) is located on the turret, and automatically fires at incoming anti-tank rockets. Although the laser is not powerful enough to stop a projectile, it WILL burn through a missile's casing and either ignite the rocket engine or detonate the warhead prematurely, making rocket attacks on the MBT-04B more difficult. The laser, however, has a 5-second cooldown period between shots, and can only target one rocket at a time.

ARMS:
In addition to the standard array of machine guns, the MBT-04B comes equipped with a 120mm cannon. Although the cannon is no larger than the old Crusader Mark 3's, it has a higher muzzle velocity. The shell fired by the gun is also markedly improved. After some hesitation (due to concern about environmental effects), the Army included DU shells to maximize the MBT-04B's killing power. The MBT-04B is fully linked into the tactical combat system used by the USS called MILSTARS. This complex computer targeting system automatically keeps track of both friends and enemies, gives the tank commander a colored, GUI (Graphic User Interface). Since the strength of tanks is in coordination, the MILSTARS system makes the MBT-04B Shalrirorchian tanks corps exponentially more deadly than they already are. MILSTARS also allows Command to monitor the progress of a battle and dispatch reinforcements or Medevac in the event that a tank is disabled.
