"Ladies and gentlemen, I have just received word that a gun battle has taken place near the border crossing just north of the border city of Sa'dah, Yemen." explains the reporter, on top of the al-Jazeera broadcasting bureau in Yemen.

"Yemeni troops apparently fired on Al Anbar's border troops. After a brief gunfight, it appears that an infantry brigade from Al Anbar moved forward and seized the entire border crossing. The Yemeni soldiers fled."

"Once again, it appears that Yemeni border troops attacked Al Anbar's border guards. In response, an infantry brigade from Al Anbar was sent forward and the entire crossing is now closed and under control of Al Anbar. Government officials in Al Anbar have not responded to calls, as of yet."

"We will bring you the information as we receive it."

OOC: I guess it will be fine. If this does escalate to something bigger, no nukes, WMDs, or future tech.

Sa'dah, Yemen

It was complete chaos.

A Yemeni training platoon had begun planned exercises near the border. Armed with standard issue long rifles, the group shifted across the desert sands in a mock assault. Someone mentioned a watchtower nearby, but no notice was given to the troops at large. The men unconsciously drew closer to the structure, when a soldier waved his pistol in the air, signaling at the sentries within.

Without warning, thin sheets of flame erupted from the tower, striking the dunes around the group and catching the Yemenis completely by surprise. The soldier waving had his torso struck by a burst of sniper fire, the headless body tumbling into the platoon's midst. Fire was returned, as the men began a creeping retreat. A tank round impacted near the vanguard, strewing blood and bodies in a violent explosion. A full rout was inevitable, screams of the wounded drowned out in the constant rat-tat-tat of machine gun fire.

Official Communiqué

Al-Anbar has once again show disregard for the sovereign rights of both Granzi and Yemen. At approximately 1600 hours today, a platoon of Yemeni security forces was fired upon by Al-Anbarian (sp?) border guards. We demand immediate reparations to the families of wounded and killed. Beyond this reasonable request, we also demand an official apology for this unprovoked attack.

Interrupting into the broadcast of a popular Arabic song, an emergency bulletin was read.

"This is a bulletin from the Armed Forces Command. Repeat, this is a bulletin from the Armed Forces Command." read the announcer.

"All soldiers on leave are to report to their duty posts within twenty four hours. All leaves are cancelled. Repeat, all leaves are cancelled. All soldiers must retun to their units within twenty four hours. Thank you."

Southern Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia had already been fortified and had massive amounts of troops deployed, the government in Al Anbar always afraid of a new war with Whittier or some new enemy that wished to expel them from the area. Units had always been kept at a respectable readiness and strength. Now, this readiness had paid off. Within hours of the initial gunfight, Al Anbar's troops had started moving towards Yemen's border, taking up positions along the border, ready to either stop an offensive or start one themselves.

The lone brigade that had moved forward to take over the border crossing positions after the Yemeni attack moved forward, towards the small desert border village of 'Aqabat al 'Alb, perhaps only a kilometer or two away.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs

In a statement released today by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Minister stated that "Yemen must apologize for their assault on Al Anbar. We also must demand that Yemen and its occupiers remove all troops from within fifteen kilometers of the border, so this will not occur again."

We will not withdraw from any portion of the Desert, as we have not for three thousand years.
Any threat to the people who offer us their hospitality will be treated as threat to us."

Al Anbar respects the Bedouin, yet we do not understand why you would live in the liar of the imperialist aggressors that are Granzi. We do not understand why the Bedouin would condon such aggression against an entire Arab people.

We once again reiniterate our peaceful demand that all military units be removed from the borderlands whether or not you want to recognize their existence. While it is unfortunate that the Arab people are divided among these lines, which we are trying to fix by uniting the Arab people into one nation, we have no choice but to demand such action.

General Qassem Hussein al-Majid, overall leader of the Mukhabarat intelligence agency, the main intelligence agency in Al Anbar, read over the report that came on his desk straight from the President himself... He began to read it..

"Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Rahim.

With the current tensions between Al Anbar and the Bedouin tribesmen in Yemen, the Mukhabarat is to monitor the remaining Bedouin tribes in Al Anbar. Tribal leaders are to be instructed that they must report all suspicious activities. Tribal leaders that do not do as such and those that speak against the government are to be arrested. Watch them at all times. Do not allow them to cause ANY trouble."

Bedou Commander,

I would like to first of all thank the Bedou for the support they have shown the Commonwealth in many circumstances, the most recent dealing with the nation of Al-Anbar. Granzian forces pulled back somewhat and have begun construction on fortified defensive lines across key sectors. In the interest of friendly coordination, I have authorization to allow Bedouin military control over a portion of Yemen, west of, and including, the city of Al Mukalla. [see attachment]

Through our united forces, let us beat back the invaders. May luck be with you.

No Bedou military personel will come with in 50 kilometers of the internationally recognised Saudi border.
Unless Al Anbarian forces come with in 50 kilometers of the internationally recognized Yemeni border. It should be agreeable that to avoid escalation we both stay 50 kilometers from the opposing border.

The Ar-Ramlah consume you, should you choose transgression.

The utmost care will be used in this situation as the Bedou have found in the past to have little quarrel with the Al Anbar.
It is of course a matter of national Pride and not merely just Policy that our Allies be fairly represented by our forces. The Granzi have never failed to provide every available resource to Bedou causes with in their means.
There is no choice to but to respond inkind.
