Sattelite Laser Defence Matrix
Dunii's Sattelite based defence matrix (The Dreadnaught System) will go online soon. While still in its early stages; it should all but eliminate threats from long ranged missile based attacks. We are still unsure as to its effectiveness against Nuclear weapons...
The cost of deploying this system is wiping out our budget however... We are asking for finacial aid from any nation willing to provide it... In return we will utilise our new system to aid you should you be attacked. We will not, however, aid you if you choose to go to war.

I highly doubt you can even afford it let alone have technology to do this because each rocket launch is larger then your defense budget and the requirements for such a system is too great for a 5 million population nation.
OOC:
You spelled Dreadnought wrong. Cool name though.
That, plus what Tanthan said, lol.
Indeed, I do not yet have the funds required to put the system online. However we are very technologically advanced and do have the knowledge.
This is way we are requesting financial aid to get this system off the ground and into space!
We also have plans for the CCDS although this project is far out of our budget and will not be released for a long time.
OOC:
Well, in that case, I guess it's all good then!

The problem is the size of your nation. Even if you tax you citizens 100%, have the best economy in existance, have everyone employed, and devoted your entire budget for the next ten years to this, you won't even be providing a drop in the bucket of what this will cost. Hell, I suspect some nations a thousand times your size would have problems with the cost.
However, the system itself will only protect you against certain nations and won't protect you against all, and certainly not from all missiles. The problem is the power grid required to run it would use alternating current, which means the lasers will pulse at a rate too fast for the eye to see. Considering the proliferation of FT nations and FTL missiles, it wouldn't take me much to buy a missile that is simply too fast for your system to stop. Or, I could just stick a cheap energy shield on the missile and negate it that way.
Keep in mind that long range includes every direction, such as up.

You have to add some explenation on how it works... I mean saying "it stops nukes" isn't going to get it bought...If I ever RP with you I'm going to call b.s. because theirs isn't an ample discription on the system. Just firing a laser doesn't cut it. The laser needs to know where to go, and you need to find a way to direct the laser with enough power, and long enough. Furthermore, the firing mechanisms present today are burned by the laser, making it hard to sustain the laser for long periods of time - periods of time required to destroy missiles. These problems, I mostly solved in my system, although my system requires aircraft, not sattelites..which allows the anti-missile system to be more tactical, and less strategical.
Yes as I said it is in its early stages and will be fairly useless at this point. Just a backup against weak nations. It will become better as funding arises.
Yes it is expensive, I have a system up, but it doesn't provide the best defense; 70% chance of destroying the missile in space and 80% from the ground, which are all interconnected and work to take out even the smallest missiles, problem...out of 100 ICBMs around 3 will get through, which can kill the system. Currently working on a better ground system with laser defenses.
