OOC: Other thread (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=374173)

A short stocky man appears on the stage. The Fellowship Hall is packed. Below are gathered various visiting dignitaries from the international community. On the outside fringes, members of the press are seated. With quick strides, he ascends the podium and surveys the people assembled below. After adjusting the microphone, both arms are outstretched in salutation.

"Greetings leaders, citizens and statesmen of the world, I am Nathanial Sun. On behalf of The Alliance of Pure Research and Engineering States, I welcome you to the first annual Achievement Award Banquet (TAAB). We as a united front wish to promote the recognition of those that make significant contributions to global society at large. TAPRES offers a opportunity for those of you who have been on the receiving end from kindness of others to distinguish someone formally. We will finally lend voice to those unseen heroes at the TAPRES banquet and award show."

"The banquet and award show is one that I hope someday becomes a household name. The recipients of the each category should be men and women of high caliber and reputable standing… but I get ahead of myself."

"TAPRES, in honor of future beneficiaries, will host a banquet to formally identify the contributions of individuals, nations, or any other deserving entity. But this is where we need your help. While TAPRES is well intentioned, we are not omnipresent nor the ultimate judge. In place, we’ve created a standard on which the possible candidates will be judged."

"The first award is the TAPRES peace prize. Awarded to a single nation, this prize is acknowledgment of a government that has dedicated an act saving the lives of at least twenty thousand persons. To win such a prize a nation would need to be nominated by the beneficiary of such a gesture. We welcome any and all nominations."

"The second honor is the TAPRES peace in our time commitment award. This is awarded to a nation that has actively perused an agenda for the welfare of every person in every nation. More specifically the avoidance of conflict, the mediation of third party conflicts, or of the like. It may be devotion to technological innovations or humanitarian efforts. The possibilities are endless."

"While a nation who has engaged in armed conflict is not excluded, sufficient proof must show that they have endeavored to reduce global tension. To receive this award a nation must be nominated by a minimum of two independent nations. Independent is defined as having no subsidiary states nominate the administration above them."

"Thirdly we have the TAPRES economic achievement award. This is awarded to a nation who has persevered in the name of globalization and economic growth. This nation would have had to show sizable economic growth that the majority of a set population benefited from. The exception to this rule is if a nation caused said growth in another country. A nomination of two active trading partners is needed to accept said nation as a candidate."

"Next we have the TAPRES personal achievement award. Unlike the awards already stated this award is given to a lone individual. This lone person must have made a positive impact on a minimum of two countries, so much so that those three countries are willing to prepare a public endorsement for that individual." (OOC Note: You can nominate a person you RP as.)

"Finally, we have the TAPRES application of economics certificate. The reason this is a certificate and not an award is due to the fact it requires no betterment, as recognition in itself. A certificate is awarded to someone who has control over the strongest tool of the day, the financial market. To show control a person must participate, on a grand scale, in a market that totals at least five billion people. Said market does not need to know any geopolitical boundaries. This person must also have a net worth in excess of seven billion United States dollars and employ more than fifty thousand people. Because it is a certificate there will be three given out."

"I implore you, these thankless persons need appreciation for their dedication. Please nominate them. The fact that they are the Good Samaritans of our age TAPRES is willing to give a monetary grant along with every award. It is our hope that this award will help to foster the continued advancement of a good cause. Thank you."

I would like to nominate Iuthia for the Peace in our Time Award. I think the name speaks for itself.

((OOC: Nominate me >_> <_<))

I would agree that Iuthia would be a fine candidate for that award. However, do you have any physical proof? (threads)

Any nation/individual can qualify for the awards, you need the appropriate number of nominations (varies per award).

Yes. Who are you nominating, if anyone? Be sure to state the specific award that you are nominating for.

Sarzonia would like to nominate Praetonia for the Peace In Our Time Award in recognition of its being one of three founders of the Victoria Alliance and of its efforts to negotiate peace in the Cam III-Sarzonia War. Their government has consistently seeked to avert conflict, but has willingly fought to uphold its ideals and the rights of countries the world over.

We ask that you strongly consider Praetonia for this award.

[OOC: Maybe that will get the ball rolling.

OOC2: Also posted on NationStates.]

The nomination of Praetonia cannot be taken seriously while that government pursues a war of aggression. The push for unwarranted invasion (http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=368165) surely isn't the mark of a Peacemaker.

OOC: It's not IC knowledge, due to the fact that most of the RP has gone on behind closed doors. But it will be taken into account when the time comes.

OOC: Hamptonshire, you can nominate a character you RP as for the TAPRES Personal Achievement Award. Just make it IC though.
