Sovieten Resistance Strike back against Imperialist Occupiers

OOC: This thread takes place four years after the original Doomingsland aussalt on Sovieten. Please note that all old peacekeeping forces have left, and the Doomingsland forces have been replaced with a more placent militia troop. However, they are still well equipped. Also note that if you still have buisness in the old thread, keep it there. Old thread: http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=373308&page=12&pp=15

Let's get started.

The resistance has been struggling to find a chink in the armour of the tyrannical, right-wing occupiers for four years. Now is time to strike back against them.

Eagle base (West of Chatoi)

Lukin sat at his desk, and growled as a timid corporal approached him with an armful of dark blue uniforms.
"Sir? These are the uniforms you wanted."
Lukin examined them. It was true that these Doom uniforms belonged to urban troopers, who had been shipped off years ago. Some of them still had bloodstains on them from Chatoi, where they had been captured four years before. But they would have to do.
"Fine" He snarled "Call the team together."

2 hours later, 9 KM south of Chatoi

The four Doomingsland soldiers sat by the petrol station they had been ordered to watch for the day. They looked up when a URAL truck pulled up near the station. A sergeant got out of the truck, wearing a balaclava against the harsh Sovieten winter. A few men got out of the back of the truck. One of the soldiers squinted through his ciggarette smoke and saw the familiar uniforms. He recognised it as that of the Doomingsland light urban infantry.
"I thought you guys had been shipped of months ago..."
The sergeant walked forwards. His men followed him. The soldiers reached for their M16s, worried by the newcomers.
"Fire." The voice came out harsh through the balaclava. The troops fired their AK74s into the huddled group of soldiers, dropping the four of them onto the floor.
Lukin pulled off the Balaclava, and walked over to the troops on the floor. His boots crunched on the gravel. One of the supposedly dead men rolled onto his back, groaning. Lukin stood over him, raised his boot, and stamped on the mans face, before pulling out his colt and firing it repeatedly into the mans chest cavity.
"Take the uniforms and weapons. Lets go."

A farmhouse near Chatoi

3 men stamped into the warm interior of the farmhouse. The captain snarled at the worried farmer in the corner.
"We need any fuel you have here." He saw the uncertaincy flicker across the mans face. "You don't want to give us any, do you?" The farmer shook his head. "They've been paying you, yes? You give up your country for a fist full of Roubles? Hmm?" He smiled at the man. "How dare you!" he wirled round, and punched the man as hard as he could. "You suckle at the teat of capitalism while hardworking citizens die and freeze in the streets of Lubek?" He pulled up his Kozlice, aiming at the mans head.
Suddenly, the doors slammed open. Doomingsland troops stormed in, the first 5 into the room offload two bursts into the room. That was all it took. The officer walked over to one of the few still writhing resistance troopers.
"He'll live" he said, before kicking the man. "Take him back to Chatoi for interrogation."

OOC: The People's Republic of Hillyard arrived too late to be of any aid in the War. However, we will NEVER acknowledge Doomingland's claim in Sovetian. We'd be interested in helping arm and equipt the rebels. If you'd like me to butt out, just say so...

IC:
Kerridan looked out over the waves from the deck of the freighter. Anchored more than 40 kilometers off the eastern coast of Chatoi, the ship was preparing to offload its cargo: Kerridan.

The spy was in his 40s, rugged and strong. He'd served in the People's Army for most of his adult life, the last decade in the Intelligence Corps. This was supposed to be his last mission.

A sailor approached him, clearing his throat. None of the men had had more than three words with the spy; most were intimidated by the man. Furthermore, they knew how close to Sovetien they were, and they knew they were doing something that would likely get them killed if a Doomingsland naval patrol came by.

"We're ready to set you off, comrade. The Captain and the crew wish you the best..."

"Thank you." Kerridan took a pull from his cigarette and flicked into the dark waves. "Let's get started then."

The sailor led him to the ladder and raft. A second sailor waited in the boat, laden with scuba equiptment and the scant resources Kerridan would take with him once he was on land.

Kerridan started down the boat, shook hands with the raft's crewman, and they slipped out into the dark of the Sovetien night.

It took them the better part of four hours to get close enough to the coast, but Kerridan was pleased. The sailor knew what he was doing; he kept a sharp eye for traffic. When the boat was near to Sovetien, he kept the engine low, worked the waves, and found a point that would be well out of view from most of the coast.

"Thank you comrade," he said to the sailor as he checked his equipment.

"No comrade. 'Tis God's work you do this night," he said in a rough, low voice. "I was in the Navy for 30 some years. I seen what these black bastards do. I say kill 'em all."

"Me too, comrade, me too." Herridan rolled off the raft and started to swim towards the cliffs of Sovetien.

OOC:TAG! Sovieten... if you look back in the other thread, Doomingsland allowed me to keep a permenant naval base for a Naval Taskforce... it also has a garrisson of soldiers. So I WILL be included in here. Also the Tech-Com Corporation has been given permission by Doomingsland to build Ammo factories, off shore oil platforms, and coal mines for Red Tide. These will be employing the local population. The Red Tide military(and the Tech-Com Coporations Private Army) MIGHT move in to protect the investment.

OOC:Just to let you know, getting into Sovieten is now practically impossible, no frieghter from any nation other than Doomingsland or Red Tide is allowed with 1000 miles of the coast, which is heavily fortified with bunkers, artilery, and thermal imaging equiptment, so if your going to try to infiltrate, try to RP it out. Don't expect your operative to live, either.

Imperial HQ, Everone AFB

The old airfield at Everone had been converted to a full fledged Imperial Base, complete with tank depot, holding cells, training grounds, among other things. An officer had heard the attack as it happened over a radio to men had neglected to turn off, so they were on the lookout for masked soldiers in Doomingslandian uniforms.

The commander of the base, General Marcus Julius, a veteran occupier, had had this sort of thing happen before. However, he'd never had the good fortune of taking a rebel soldier captive so quickly.

After arriving in Chatoi via truck, the rebel was immediatly brought to Everone via a Chinook helicopter, and was dragged two stories underground to the interrogation center. Within the dark, bloodied halls of this facility, the rebel was bound to a chair inside a room behind a metal door. On a table was a number of vicious looking instrunments, such as knives, electric drills, blowtorches, and a single S&W .500 magnum revolver, for playing 'Russian Roulete.'

The general himself would be taking part in the interrogation. He bursted through the metal doors as the prisoner was being beaten with a club by a masked Imperial Inquisitor.

"That'll be all."

"Yes, sir."

The man exited the room, leaving the general and the rebel alone. The general picked up a checkboard, with the rebel's crime typed out, and began to mutter something.

"Well, it says here you're accused of the crime of armed revolt, first degree assualt, attempted kidnapping, attempted robbery..." he continued to read on. "Now, I'm sure you've heard of that unfortunate attack on our patrol?"

The prisoner was badly beaten, and began to doze off. The general lifted up a hot iron, and prodded the prisoner in the arm.

"AHHHHH!!!!"

"Stay awake. Now, I'm going to ask you some questions." he said, stretching a map of Sovieten across the bloodied table, and handing the man a pen. He unfastened his hands.

"Now, I need you to mark down the location of every rebel base..."

Coastal Outpost Bravo twelve

The men at the outpost had seen a raft come in close on the thermals, and saw a figure dive into the water.

"Sir," whispered a grunt to his sergeant, "What are your orders?"

"They've violated Doomingslandian waters, and must pay the price. Light 'em up." he whispered back.

A militiaman on an M60 pulled back the bolt, chambering a round, and looked through the thermal scope as the sergeant got on a radio.

TATATATATATATATATATATATATAT

The sky was lit up by tracer rounds as they streaked towards the fleeing raft, and made the water around it shoot up.

Meanwhile, the sergeant had called for airsupport, and within five minutes, a Comanche helicopter arrived on scene, and began using its FLIR to hunt for the spy. It was at a low altitude, its rotors virtualy silent, its sleek shape almost invisible along the night sky.

This is Griffon Two-Six, I've got movement, 11 o'clock.

I see him.

The sky once again filled with tracer rounds, this time coming from the Comanche's 20mm gattling gun as they fired at what appeared to be a hostile soldier. There were no civilians around for miles, and even if it was, they were breaking curfiew.

Doom Valley Prison, Doomingsland

Dmitri sat alone in his isolation cell. He had been held captive by the Doomingslandians for four years, in almost virtual solitary confinement, save a bible the guards had given him. He wasn't sure what had happened to the other men that had been brought to this place with him. He figured he must have been the only one alive. What have I done wrong? he'd ask himself constatly. He'd only been defending his country, and this is the thanks he'd gotten. He cursed himself for taking that round to the leg in Chatoi. Look at the mess it had landed him in.

OOC: Very well, I'll do what I can. Doomingsland, if you want, I could actually go for an all out war in Sovieten to liberate it from you, but only if you want. Otherwise I'll stick to special forces and shipping in weapons.

IC:

President Daren Verian-Saiyoto looked over the latest report out of Sovieten. Though a heavily capitalist nation, the Tundra did not oppose communism, the communist nation of Hattia having been the greatest ally the Tundra ever had.

And thus, due to the reports coming in about Doomingsland actions, and an inner sense to help out a communist nation against imperialist capitalists, the president was deciding what kind of support to send.

The Minister of Defence, and the commanders of the navy, army, and air force, were assembled in the president's office. "Gentlemen, what do you propose we do?" the president asked as he leaned back and waited to hear his military officials' suggestions.

All three started blurting out suggestions at once, ranging from sit and watch, to razing Doomingsland to the ground, when the Minister of Defence, a former army colonel, got them to be quiet to make a suggestion.

"Hypersoar. We have spent lots of money developing it and deploying it, we could use the pods to drop in a special forces team. Once the specs were in, we could have them clear out a small landing zone for a navy troopsub to drop off a supply of weapons and a few volunteers to help train and arm the resistance. Then, we could see where we can go from there." the MoD suggested as he looked to the military commanders.

"Hm...we have been testing the new pods with the Knights, and I'm sure they could clear out a landing zone fairly easily, I can have a pair of 'soars ready in three hours if the army can get a team ready" the Air Force commander said.

"I'll have a squad of Knights at the airfields in 30 minutes if you simply say the word" the army general said.

"I can get some trustworthy marines ready, and grab a stash of eagles and ATs to give to the resistance. I could fly it out the 11th, their relatively close to Sovieten and have a pair of troopsubs" the Navy admiral said.

"Ok, so it's settled then. I want the hypersoar there asap. How long would it take the sub to reach the coast?" the president asked.

"Give it a couple days, and it'll be there" the Navy admiral said.

"Very well, I'll let you gentlemen work out the details amongst yourselves."

The Great Hall, Ohm, The Voltarum

"I am sorry Madam Chancellor, but outsourcing of jobs must stop. The vote is tied. As Premier, I cast the deciding vote." The Premier paused and closed his eyes. A great red orb appeared over the his chair. "I am sorry, but the motion is defeated. Next item on the agenda please."

Avlos Selkirk, Minister of Defense rose. "Fellow Ministers, I have new information out of the former nation of Sovieten."

A mumble rose out of the other 12 robed ministers of the High Order. Avlos didn't hear, but only noticed the face of the Premier, as he continued.

"As you know, Sovieten fell 4 years ago by the Imperialistic Hand of Doomingsland. There is evidence, and strong at that, that Sovieten nationals have formed a resistance against their oppressors. This is more than some outraged farmers with guns... there is word of complicated and multistep campaigns against the Doomingsland Occupying Force."

With this pause, Premier Xerco Longbottom spoke: "Minister Selkirk, you above all others in this room know how dissapointed we were at what happened there 4 years ago. But do you suggest that we in some way help these rebels? Do not forget, that they were communists before they stupidly declared war on a country ten times thier size."

"I do not suggest anything, Premier. I am simply here to relay this information to you." Avlos spoke slowly, and with direct intent. He paused a moment, and then sat back down in his seat. The 12 looked on with silence, waiting for the Premier to speak. The bells in the Great Hall's Tower began to ring. It was now dinner hour.

After a long pause, the Premier rose. "This nation needs no more conlict, nor to get involved in strife overseas. Despite this, we cannot ignore our moral vow to protect those who are oppressed. I hereby put forth the proposition that The Voltarum should aid these rebels in as descrete way as possible. Ministers, I want to provide them with food, medical supplies, and anything else we can get through the Doomingsland guard. I hereby put this to vote."

As the Premier sat down, the room fell into total darkness. After a very long 30 seconds, 10 blue spheres and 2 red rose toward the rotunda ceiling. The vote had passed by a wide margain. The lights gradually started to rise.

"Very well. Let it be known that the High Order has put this into motion. Avlos, it is now up to you. I want to meet with you and the Chiefs of Staff in 24 hours. I want options. And good ones. Now, without further delay, I hereby call this gathering of the High Order adjourned."

Um, I am RPing it. No freighter within a 1000 miles? Eat me. That's not logical or possible.

I can see picking up the raft, detecting the op. etc, but you can't expect to be a steel wall simply because you're a police state. Resistance movements exist in every nation of the world, no matter how locked down it is. You can offer the locals jobs, you can feed, clothe, and take of their every need. Fact is, you've conquered a country that was politically and socially progressive (to a point) and replaced it with a police state. Some folks are going to be pissed.

I guess my question is if you're really interested in RPing or are you just interested in "winning"? The only reason we're even sending the operative is to have a plausible explanation for making contact with the resistance. It'll be up to Sovetien to actually come up with a way to get the guns in.

OOC: Hypersoar is a bomber being developed by the US, it kind of bounces off the atmosphere like a skipping stone, so it can reach anywhere in the world with incredible speed and on only one tank of fuel. The pods are specially designed casings made with stealth materials and the like to help reduce their radar signature, they get dropped by bombers and can carry a person or cargo to the ground, we designed it for the hypersoar for deploying special forces into highly secure areas. For the troopsub, its considerably smaller than an actual troopship, again meant more for covert operations. Generally one or two is assigned to our fast response battlegroups, which patrol the world's various oceans in case any situations arise. A note for my special forces, I have two kinds, JTF-3 (out version of Canada's JTF-2) and the Knights of the North. While JTF-3 is amazing, the Knights are a little better and are pretty much lifers.

IC:

At the airbase just outside of New Toronto, a pair of hypersoar bombers were sitting on the runway, a seven man squad of Knights had been called up for this operation, and they were boarding their respective bombers. The six men consisted of a medic, a pair of snipers, and four riflemen. One of the sniper carried a remmington 870p tactical, and a Mcmillan .50 caliber tactical sniper rifle. The other carried a A12 9mm Semi-automatic 10 round rifle. Due to information concerning Doomingsland weapons, which were believed to be US based, if not US weapons entirely, XM-8s were being used by the medic, who carried a compact version, and the riflemen. The riflemen carried conversion kits to easily switch to SAW and sharpshooter configurations. They also carried a variety of grenades, explosives, nightvision, and other equipment.

The bombers were finally loaded up, and they took off and up into the sky. About an hour before, a plane carrying a shipment of weapons headed for the 11th battlegroup which had a troopsub tasked to it.

"Nicely done, Lukin!" The major beamed at him "Four M16s, one jeep, and even some body armour! This will all be useful. Here, you earned it." The man tossed a flak jacket across to Lukin, who caught it, before putting it on under his Sovieten military jacket.
"Wheres the captain?" he asked.
"He.. hasn't come back."
"Thats ridiculous, its a fuel pickup, shouldn't take more than an hour or two."
"Well..." Both men knew what he was implying. The captain was either dead, or had been captured.
Lukin pulled a map over to his side of the table, and tapped a small mark he had made earlier.
"Here. We need armour, thats where we can find some."
"What?"
"Look. This is a quaint little base, Southeast of Chatoi. Now, theres nothing much remarkable here, but it has a small garrison. We can easily presume it has an armoury."
"What about it?"
"Well, you've said before we needed some heavy machineguns and LAWs..."
"Wonderful! But how do you plan to take it?"
"Give me twenty men, our best weapons, and those two silenced dragunov's Hillyard got to us a few weeks ago."
"Well.." The major hesitated "Lukin, you know we trust you... You're our best man, but do you think we can give this much to you?"
"Please! This will double our armoury, and you can bet that when the people of Konjulev hear of this, I guarentee you our numbers will swell! We need this if we ever hope to take Chatoi. Hit hard, load up, and get out. Simple."
"Fine. I can give you the armour you captured today, and we can equip your men with M16s."
"I want Chernov and Sergei for the drags." Chernov and Sergei were two of the best resistance marksmen on Kongulev.
"We'll see."

Lukin grinned as he left the farmhouse. He was finally going to do damage against the people who had slaughtered his civilian drafts in Chatoi four years before.

OOC: Red Tide, i remind you that the main action is in the centre of Kongulev, and navy won't be much use there. Grand Inquisitorial Lord Matthias, Keeper of the Imperial Seal, Guardian of the Tome

Hours later, Matthias strode down the dark marble corridors that honey combed Kriegor Zan Varr's palace while shadows crept out from their hiding places to fall in Matthias's footsteps, he made his way through the labyrinthine palace, numerous doors and corners calling to him like a siren to go the wrong way.

Grand Inquisitor Matthias came to the titanic palace doors, two rough - iron decorated doors crafted of pine - as a Kriegos Inquisitional Guardsman stood ramrod straight, a Galil's butt sat in the clenched hand of the attentive soldier, "Guardsman, we shall be on way immediately, is that understood guardsman?" The soldier snapped a lengthy salute with his free hand before turning on his heel and opening the door into the white marble maze beyond.

Matthias strode out onto the road, large, clean flagstones lined the pavement while cobbles filled the road, the palace was on a large hill so Matthias could look down onto the outskirts of Krieg, he saw; what the nobles had dubbed, the sprawl, a dirty warren of streets that stretched as far.

The Inquisitor looked at the black Rolls Royce waiting for him before casting his eyes skyward, seeing a clear, blue sky, his eyes followed the pure ocean of cobalt until he began to see it, the grey smog that infested the sky hanging over the sprawl, factories pumping out smoke, wisps drifting to the sky to join their comrades in the war against blue skies, The price of industry Matthias thought.

Matthias leaned over, looked down through the plane's window, he looked down at the patch work countryside below, or what more, the lack of, the cities were encroaching on the pure green fields, Matthias had never noticed before, but most of the area surrounding the cities had a sickly black look to it, trees barely clung to existence while bushes withered and died, meanwhile, the plane flew over to the relative paradise of Sovieten, by comparison, of course.

Doomingsland Military Base in Chatoi

The captured soldier spat blood onto the floor.
"I don't know... We hear about Eagle base, but they only trust officers with that information, like the captain I was with. We get ordered each day to a cave, or farmhouse or whatever, which we guard. If they have plans at EB, an officer turns up and picks us up. He briefs us en route, the he delivers us back to our post for the rest of the day.

Near the Military Outpost, 2.00 AM

Lukin lay uncomfortable on the grass, and squinted through the NV binoculars at the soldiers below. Around him, men whispered their findings.
"Soldier, LAW, near the gate."
"Officer, tent 3, doorway."
14 men. They were outnumbered, and no doubt tired. He fumbled with his radio.
"Chernov, Sergei, take the two by the gate."
There was silence. Then, so faint it was hardly audible, Lukin heard a "tic!" in the night, before one of the two men at the gates fell. The other turned around in shock, before another "tic!" announced his death.
"FIRE!" Lukin bellowed. The three soldiers with Mortar attachments fired into the base, blowing up in the centre of the outpost, and destroying a jeep parked within.
"All units, move it!" Lukin shouted. He led his 10 men down the hill, and up the short distance to the compound. Snapping down his NV, he saw his other ten men rushing towards the other side of the base.
"Front! Kneel! Fire!" His squad fired a controlled volley into the base to discourage any men from leaving the cover of the tents and sandbag emplacements.
"Split!" The men rushed for cover. One of the newer recruits was hit in the face, dropping his colt as he fell. Lukin scooped it up, and headed for the cover of the sandbag embrasures."

The lieutenant in command sprung to his feet when the shooting started, and got to his radio,

"This is Base Charlie Three, we are unde hostile attack, repeat, we are under attack! Requesting immediate air support, everything in front of the base is confirmed hostile!"

"Affirmative, air inbound, ETA, two minutes."

The lieutenant sighed. He wasn't sure if they'd last two minutes. Half of his men were killed on initial contact, but were now engaged. He was in a small concrete guard house when the shooting started. He looked outside of the window, and saw the enemy soldiers firing into the sandbagged infantry, who were wildly returning fire. The lieutenant grabbed a set of thermal goggles, turned them on, and looked outside. He shouldered his M16, and fired a burst into an enemy soldier.

"Hold the line! Hold the line!" he shouted at his men as another was struck in the face, going down dead.

Finnaly, the air support arrived in the form of an AH1Z Super Cobra, which made its presense known when FFARs slammed into the hostile controled areas of the base. OOC: gotta go, so ill say it quickly. I don't think you can simply RP the death of the best part of my armed forces. Eagle would easily be able to see any military units moving at Lollise, and give fair warning. Please remember that there are resistance forces in the mountains of Everone, very close to the airfield. Also, this is little more that a few tents and a watchtower. FFARs would probably take out the entire outpost... Oh, and it would likely take more than 2 mins to get them there.

Get them into the mountains to the east, near Lolisse. You should be able to contact some men in the eastern area. Good luck!

IC: Matthias gazed out the window, his dark eyes scanning the pure snowlands below - a far cry from the black, ravaged lands of Kriegorgrad - that announced the crossing into Sovieten airspace, Matthias leaned out of his seat to take a peak down the aisle, his eyes took in thirty Kriegos Death Korp soldiers, along with his retinue of five Kriegos Inquisitional Guardsmen.

The time crept by slowly, when it seemed there would be no release from the boring flight, the pilot chimed in over the intercom, a harsh crackling that announced their arrival at the military airbase, the rickety descent sent a chill down Matthias's spine - he hated the descent.

Matthias fell, from the holy pool of light that was Kriegorgrad...to the depths of despair, the depths of poverty and the darkness that consumed him...

A light nudge on Matthias's arm shattered the nightmare, darkness falling away like shards of glass down a drain, Matthias opened the overhead compartment and gathered his meagre belongings before making his way out of the plane.

Within minutes, Matthias and his retinue were crammed into a military grade truck, the tarp taken down - revealing the metal frame - leaving the wind to whip across Matthias's face, the soldiers that accompanied Matthias held their gazes on the rolling snowscape surrounding the truck.

Matthias let loose a sigh of relief as the base of Everone came into view, the large truck arrived at the gate at which point, two guards stepped forward, M-16s unlimbered...

OOC:No, it'd be impossible to have rebel troops near the airfield, the whole area is crawling with patrols, and I've got helos flying recon all over the place on all of the islands, so it would be possible to have it there in two minutes. FFARs wouldn't completely level the camp, just the general area they're firing at. You can have a few of your guys escape, and this can serve as a demonstration to them as to just how difficult this operation will be.

IC:

The two guards halted the truck, and got the clearence papers off of the driver. The large steel gates then swung open, and the truck sped through. It would then pull over to the main HQ building, and Matthias would be informed of the current situation. He would then be led down to the interrogation chamber to assist the general in breaking the rebel prisoner.

The governor general's residence, outside Leggett 4:00 AM

The sound of the phone ringing forced Stanley Molotov awake. He glanced at the clock as he got up to get the phone in his office, 4 AM.

"Hello," said Stanley into the reciever.

"Sorry to bother you Governor General but there's something you need to take a look at," came the reply. It was his secretary of Defense Sergei Polstov.

"Can't it wait until morning Sergei?"

"I'm afraid not sir," there was a short pause before he continued, "it's about Sovietan."

"What's so important about Sovietan that you need to call me at this hour," demanded Stanley.

"I'd rather not say until you can come join the rest of the cabinet at the capitol building."

"Fine," snapped Stanley, "I can be there in 15 minutes."

"We await your arrival sir," replied Polstov and he hung up the phone.

Quickly Stanley went back to his room and got dressed, left a note for his wife, ran out to his car, and set off towards the capital. Ten minutes later he was pulling into the parking garage and was still grumbling to himself about how his cabiniet members had to be so damn secretive all the time. Stepping out of his car he reached the eleveator and took it to the ground floor of the building and headed up the marble staircase to his office. When he arrived there he found his entire cabinet all looking rather bleary eyed except for Polstov that is who looked more awake and alert than all of them combined. Pulling up a chair he motioned for Sergei to get this meeting underway.

"Now that your all here we can get down to some rather urgent business," began Polstov. "You all have a copy of a report recieved from one of our satallites about an hour ago. There has been a lot more activity in the former nation of Sovietan lately and as you can see there has been an attack on a Doomingsland outpost by what are believed to be Sovietan resistance fighters. This is the second attack in a week and I think that it's about time that we got involved in this. It's only fair that we help clean up the mess we helped make."

The other men took this information in silently as they looked through the rest of the report. After about 5 minutes Stanley closed up the folder and addressed the table.

"I'm open to any suggestions," he said very simply.

"I believe that we should send 1 battalion of special forces to help crush the insurgents. They have been trained in guerrilla warfare and work extremely effectively in squad or comapny sized groups which will allow us to deploy hundreds of squads throughout the affected area and deal the most damage to the insurgents," came the voice of Polstov.

"I agree," came the responses from both the Secretary of the Navy and the Secretary of State.

After a few minutes the decision was unanimous the special forces would be inserted into former Sovietan near the heaviest insurgent fighting. There they would be placed wherever deemed necessary by the Doomingsland commanders. All that was left was to draft a message to Doomingsland and to ready the C-5's for insertion.

To: Doomingsland
From: Stanley Molotov, Governor General of Beta Aurigae VII
Subject: Resistance

It has come to our attention that you have been engaging insurgents of the former nation of Sovietan for the past few weeks and months and we believe that because of our earlier involvement 4 years ago that we should help out in the defeat of they rebels. So we shall send 1 Battalion of special forces (1,000 men) to the airfield at Chatoi. We hope that these forces will be sufficient in the crushing of this petty rebellion.

Sincerely Yours,
Stanley Molotov
Governor General
Leggett, Beta Aurigae VII

45 minutes later

The special forces had been loaded onto the waiting C-5's, the ramps had been raised, and they were taxiing down the runway. One by on the aircraft lifted off and headed towards the former nation of Sovietan. After about 2 hours they came insight of the airfield on Chatoi.

"Chatoi airfield this is C-5 galaxy Alpha 3 out of Beta Aurigae VII requesting permission to land, over."

OOC: Doomingsland, please RP the response and landing. Also you can RP the meeting of my special forces commander (Capt. Sven Njord) because i think that will save a lot of back and forth posts to get the whole conversation finished.

IC: Matthias stepped out of the truck, resplendent in his gold armour, looking as regal as a Grand Inquisitorial Lord should, his warhammer sat idly in the hoop on his belt as he barked orders, two KDK Kill Teams filed out, the first team followed Matthias until they reached the command post at which point, the KDK team stood and guarded the post.

Meanwhile...

Matthias strode down yet another stairwell, the footsteps of his Inquisitorial Guardsmen echoing his own. They kept moving down the clean-cut corridors until Matthias and his retinue reached a door, the Inquisitor snapped an order and the KIG soldiers made a formation around the door, Matthias put his hand around the knob and turned it slowly...hearing a slow clack as the mechanism clicked and clacked.

The Grand Inquisitorial Lord; Keeper of the Seal and Guardian of the Tome, was subjected to the filthy presence of a scrap of scum, the captured soldier looked up, bleary eyed to see the gold plated inquisitor, crimson cloak fluttering lightly while a bear pelt hung affectionately about Matthias's shoulders.

Matthias turned to the general and gave an acknowledging gaze to the masked inquisitor, Matthias, balding, still had a look of power and youth to him, after a lengthy silence, Matthias spoke, "Those tools look of excellent quality, may I get acquainted with them?" The Inquisitor spoke with more than a hint of malice, all the while, a grin marring his face that spoke of untold cruelty.

Winterzov kept a low profile as he snuck through the undergrowth, his men following him. They had long since ran out of ammunition delivering partisan assaults on the Doominsglandians, and they prepared to hit a tactical target:

A Doominsglandian Outpost.

However, Winterzov could hear gunfire. It erupted from the bank of the hill, raining down on the outpost.

"Sovieten. Men, engage!"

The eight men moved forwards slowly, their SKS's at the ready. Chuikov readied his RPG7, the last grenade fitting neatly into the launcher.

"FIRE!"

The rocket propelled grenade went streaming into a tent, setting it alight and exploding as Doominsglandian corpses flew out, scorched. The remainder of A Company, 2nd Platoon, 1st Squad, were engaging the enemy. They rushed into the base, bayonets fitted, in an attempt to aid the Sovieten rebels.

The C5 touched down, and the soldiers marched down the open ramp door. Their captain was greeted by a Doomingslandian colonel, who extended his hand,

"Hello, captain. We're gonna deploy your men around the mountain areas of Chatoi, and you can hopefully find this 'Eagle Base' the reb's are talking about."

"Of course, my lord." replied the general, picking up a blowtorch, "This one's my favorite, and that guy's least favorite," he said, pointing to the prisoner. "Give it a try, sir. Right now, we're trying to find out were his HQ is located."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Outpost

The Hogsweaten attack had caught the pinned down defending soldiers off guard, and three more were killed, leaving just three left behind a sandbag embankment. The charging soldiers made easy targets, and the men sprayed at them as they charged.

The lieutenant continued to fire out of the window of his bunker. He got on his radio once more,

"This is Charlie Three, we are requesting reinforcements."

"Affirmative, Charlie, wait one...right, we have a Blackhawk inbound to medivac the wounded, and provide relief. ETA, ten minutes."

Shit.

"Affirmative, we'll try to hold out until then. Out."

The Cobra had run out of FFARs, and half of the area was just a large smoldering crater. It went out for strafing runs on the Hogsweaten troops now...

The Canadian Tundra
19-11-2004, 00:55
OOC: Sorry for not posting sooner, I got Halo 2, and well, you can guess lol. Anyhoo, the guys dont go splat because they aren't in the pods when they hit the ground. The pods have four small rockets attached, along with three smaller man sized pods and the soldier himself (if we want to drop a lot of guys, we simply have four men per pod, but the three extra minipods serve as decoys in case AA guns spot them and open fire). The engines ignite once it makes its way down somewhat, slowing it down considerably, then the four minipods (one containing the guy) jettison and deploy multiple parachutes. The pods are resistant to most small arms fire, and carry the soldier down somewhat, then the pod breaks into three parts, each with its own chute, while the soldier deploys his own chute, and hits the ground safely. This system is expensive, probably damned inefficient, and overall not the greatest way of doing things, but since none of the soldiers have markings that can be traced back to the Tundra, nor do their weapons or pods, it more or less ensures that the Tundra cannot be implicated. Also, a note on the soldiers themselves in case they get captured, as part of their training, they are required to medidate for at least 2 hours a day, everyday. This allows them to become quite skilled at medidation, and are highly resistant to torture, virtually allowing themselves to shut their minds to the outside world.

IC:

The Hypersoar bombers had been flying for a couple hours now and were approaching their target landing zone. They would drop in below the atmosphere, spiral downwards, drop the pods, and head back up to the safety of the atmosphere line where they would skip back to the Tundra.

The lead pilot called in over the radio to the specs in the pods, "hold on to your horses boys, drop in 30!" he reported as the aircraft spiral downwards.

Both aircraft pulled up and dropped the seven pods, each containing three decoys and a knight, and they barreled towards the surface. As they got closer and closer, the rockets fired, slowing it down considerably. The rockets continued to fire sporadically, helping maintain a relatively slow speed. Then the four mini pods broke away and they fell a bit before their chutes deployed.

The pods drifted down before breaking apart, dummies with parachutes coming out of the decoy pods and the soldiers all drifting down on parachutes.
OOC: I'll stop it here so you can RP AA fire if you want to have any firing up at it

*11th Battlegroup, international waters, near Sovieten*

A pair of small transport VTOL aircraft soared through the air towards the carrier CTS Spirit of the North, a large Humility class trimaran aircraft carrier. The two craft landed aboard, and a captain stepped off and saluted the battelgroup's commander, Admiral Petrard, as he approached.

"Admiral, I have orders here straight from the Navy commander himself. I have a shipment of small arms that are to be transported via your troopsub to the Sovieten coast, where a team of knights will clear a landing area, and hand the weapons over to the resistance there. He also wants whatever marines are willing to volunteer to head over to Sovieten and aid in the fighting. Naturally, the government will designated them a group of deserters if they are caught, and say they had nothing to do with it should anything happen. The shipment contains primarily C7s, including a number of EAGLEs. None of this should be a problem, should it?" the captain asked.

"Not at all Captain, not at all. I'll have volunteers assembled within the hour, and the weapons will be transferred over," the admiral responded.

"Undertsood admiral" the captain saluted, and went off to manage the transfer of the weapons.

The Doomingslandian colonel pointed out some areas on the map of the mountains. Sven nodded, saluted and walked over to his men. He called the company commanders forward.

"Alpha that's me, Bravo, Charlie, Delta, Echo," he said pointing to each man in turn. "We're breaking into company sized forces for deployment, I want Bravo deployed here at the southern foot of the mountain, Charlie at the northern foot, Delta at the eastern, Echo at the western, and Alpha, commanded by me, will be inserted as close to the peak as we can get. Once you have been inserted furthur break down your company into squads and make your way up the mountain. My team will descend from the peak and hopefully catch them in an envelopement. If any of the squads falls under attack or finds the rebel base they can call in help as we have helos for quick movement of troops into areas. The rest of your company can be picked up and moved to the fighting very quickly. So pack you hiking boots men and notify me when your companies are prepared. Good luck."

The other commanders moved off and gathered their individual companies briefed the squad leaders and one by one they announced readiness. The troops were loaded into helos and moved toward the insertion point.

2.5 hours later

All but Alpha troop had been inserted, when all the other commanders pronounced readiness Sven, who was in one of Alphas helos hovering above the insertion point, gave the order to move out. The other 4 companies now in squad sized units of 20 moved into the mountains. Alpha team now readied for the jump onto the mountains' peak, Sven gave the order and Alpha company streamed from the helos and landed on the mountains' slope where they moved off in their separate squads and began descent.

Defence Post Zulu Four

The post consisted of 3 ZPU23s, 1 ZPU57, and 6 ZPU4s. The commander of the post, a lieutenant, had seen some mysterious blobs on the radar screen, and looked up to see parachutes. He had immediatly ordered his men to open fire, and called out the position to several SAM batteries (3 Patriot launchers each, equiped with fuel air warheads).

The sky was lit up by tracers and flak, and soon SAMs started streaking in, created huge explosions as they filled the air with flammable gasses, and lit them. A pair of F/A25s joined in on the fun, and tried to hit the parachutes with their 25mm cannons. They weren't sure how many they had gotten (if any), but had radioed the approximate area, and some mechanized troops were on their way to the most likely DZ, along with helicopter support

The small beam began to bite and slice, scorching flesh and melting bone, blood vessels popped and an amazing amount of blood erupted from the small toe - the little toe - "Now, we can do this the fun way...or the boring way in which you tell me where the base is and I can no longer toy with you"

Matthias stood up and gave a look of assessment to the pulsating toe, he asked the masked Inquisitor to fetch some bandages - Matthias didn't like his toys breaking too soon.

The fishind trawler prepared to set off. A doomingsland officer strolled over.
"OK, what are you doing..."
"Fishing trip." The man grunted, casting off the rope. "It's our living. Or do you want to take that too?"
The officers eyes narrowed. "Anything to declare?"
"Two empty fish crates. You can check."
He checked, then made note on the bost ID.
"OK, leave. Now."

7 Miles Out.

"Greetings! Careful now!" Chernov helped the old man in the gap between the two boats. The second man turned, grinned, and profferred his jacket and trousers.
"Uh" The old man hesitated "Who are you?"
"Oh, this is Warez, he's a Halladi pilot who got shot down four years ago. this is his oppurtunity to get home, but you two gotta switch clothes."
"Fine..." The old man said, slightly confused. Warez stepped onto the other boat.

Back at the Coast

"Anything to declare?"
"Two crates of fish."
"OK, lets see it." The crates were opened, and a blade was slid repeatedly into the stinking fish. They hit the fake bottom that concealed the smuggled satchel charges, and no-one wanted to sift through the fish. After all, it would ruin the lot to tip them out.
"Where'd you set out from?"
"Two miles down the coast."
The trooper drew his raidio.
"Charlie, this is Foxtrot. I got a fishing boat here. they set off from you a few hours ago. Can you confirm their appearance?"
"Roger that. Uuh, both tall, thin... one wearing a white sweater and jeans, the other wearing a denim jacket and military trousers. That fit?"
"Sure does. See you later, then. Foxtrot out." He glanced up at the two men. "OK, get moving!"

He walked over to his men, just three of them left, but they were all right. They stood up, and began looking around the camp. There were rebel corpses everywhere, and some weapons and supplies were missing. One of the rebels, apparently not dead yet, coughed up blood. Caius drew his bayonet, and fixed it to his rifle, and stood over the wounded man.

"Urgghhhh..."

"Well, what do we have HERE!?" he shouted, plunging his bayonet through the man's belly, dragging it upwards, spilling his guts all over the ground. His men looked startled upon seeing their lieutenant doing that. "Don't bother helping him, he's a gonner." mummbled Caius.

The blackhawk touched down, and medivaced the remaining men, while two chinooks touched down, and a full sized platoon began securing the area.

Back at Chatoi, Caius was debriefed, and sent to his bunk for a well deserved rest. He would be needing it.

The next day, the men recieved early Christmass presents, coutesy of the Department of Defence.

"What's in the crates?" asked a curious private to the staff sergeant occompaning the large wooden crates as they were wheeled into the main assembly area. Soldiers crowded around as they were pried open. A collective "cool" followed.

The crates had contained an Aimpoint sight for every man's rifle. These nice little $900 red dot scopes would fit nicely on their M16A4 rifles, or on their M249 (depending on your weapon). The men then grabbed a sight, and headed to their lockers. They removed the rear sights off of their rifles, and affixed the red dot scopes, giving the weapons cool new looks. They then took out laser bore sighters, and sighted in their weapons. These would be perfect for the coming tasks.

Matthias thanked the helpful Inquisitor but was growing angry at the pathetic lump of meat in the chair, "You will tell us where your pathetic staging points are, you worthless wretch - and just to help you decide whether you'll help us or not, I will show you what I'd just LOVE to do to you more often!"

From that, Matthias strode over to the table, littered with instruments as it was, he scanned the table until he found some of his favourites, he examined them; his back to the captured soldier, he barked for two KIG to come in. Seconds after his bark, two soldier, adorned in black barged in through the door and; as if by using telepathy, restrained the rebel.

Matthias turned to the squirming puddle of worthlessness, proffering a small hammer and chisel, striding over to the poor soul, he ripped open a section of the garment cover his right knee. A guttural bark came again and one KIG rushed in, specifically to hold out the unfortunate man's leg.

The Grand Inquisitor set his chisel on the knee cap and raised his hammer, slamming it down with all his force, blood sprayed the KIG and Matthias, not to mention the poor man that was now screaming, writhing under the unmoving hands of the three KIG, Matthias looked in a bit closer, to examine the gaping hole in which shattered bone mingled with flesh and blood. Matthias felt a little bit more satisfied.

AA fire lit up the sky as rounds went ripping through the various pieces of metal drifting down towards the ground, fire managed to hit two of the soldiers, and they plumetted to the ground, splattering on impact.

The other five made it safely, but only barely, and they quickly grouped and moved silently towards one of the AA guns. Sergeant Unther looked at his squad, he had himself, his sniper with the .50 cal, and three of the other riflemen. He ordered two of his riflemen to switch to SAW configurations, and he and the other riflemen switched their XM-8s to sharpshooter configuration, complete with silencers. The two SAW guys only had two drums each, but it would have to do.

The soldiers also made sure their lasers were on, and the flipped down their mini-screens which allowed them to see the specialized laser beams, which were invisible to the human eye.

The soldiers fanned out and made their silently. As they made their way, the sniper spotted a pair of Doomingsland soldiers about a klick and a half out, and setup his rifle. Though there was likely more soldiers nearby who would notice the two soldiers' deaths, and go searching for their killers, and that it wasn't a good idea to waste ammo, the team felt like gettin vengeance for the death of their medic and other sniper.

The sniper focused on the rear soldier, and fired. The rifle's silencer ensured everyone a couple hundred meters out and farther couldn't hear it, but the team could, and the sniper cocked the bolt, and snapped off a second shot with unparalled speed and proficiency born of years of training and experience. The rear soldier fell as the round ripped through his chest, and the other soldier fell a second later just as he turning around to check on his comrade.

"Good shooting Iversman, good shooting" Unther said as they moved out again, silent as ghosts.

Meanwhile, a Commanche helicopter swooped over the tree tops, its rotors virtualy silent.

Darkstar, this is Griffon Two-Six, I've got movement.

Copy that, Two-Six, you are cleared to engage. came the reply from the command station. The Commanche flew over the trees sideways at 80 mph, strafing the trees with rockets and cannons, hopefully hitting at least one hostile soldier.

Alpha team had been moving steadily down from the peak of the mountains for about 15 hours without encountering any resistance. The farther down the mountain they went the more Sven began to think that the rebels had somehow gotten word of their movement into the mountains and relocated. While he was musing over this thought the point man motioned for the sqaud to stop. Sven crawled up to the front of the column to converse with the point man. When he got there he saw what made the point man stop, down below them in a small clearing was the remains of a campsite. Upon closer inspection with he binoculars Sven realized that this was indeed a camp once used by the rebels. The more he looked at it though the more he realized that something was no quite right about the whole situtation. The rebels wouldn't be stupid enough to leave something like this out in the open. Immediatly he went into combat analysis mode and motioned his men to fan out and take up defensive positions, this must have been the last straw for the rebels as they executed their ambush. Shots were fired at Sven's squad and two of them were hit in the first volley, the others had found positions behind rocks and trees and began returning fire. Sven was on his radio immediatly to the other squads in alpha company.

"This is Alpha squad, we are under attack by rebel forces at location Bravo, Hotel, 15, 23. Requesing assistance immedialy unknown ammount of enemies. We are holding them for now but they have the advantage of the terrain."

A chorus of rogers came back at Sven as the other squads callled fo their air pickup units. Meanwhile Alpha squad was finally begining to gain the upper hand Sven finally off the radio began to add his fire to the onslaught. The rebels began to break contact with the Aurigeans and they ran off. The Aurigean casualties were 1 killed 3 wounded. When the wounded were medivaced out of the area Alpha squad continued their trek down the mountain.

Grand Inquisitor Matthias strode out of the spartan interrogation chamber and spoke to his men, "We have work to do", the KIG followed in his footsteps as made his way out of the labyrinth.

Matthias came to the Command Post and spoke to man in charge, "In Kriegorgrad I could do this without asking...but seeing as we are in Doomingslandian-Sovieten, I feel I should ask I can have the authority to take command of any resources I deem fit, that is the extent of the Kriegos Inquisition - in Kriegorgrad - but I'm not too sure if that’s how your Inquisition works, well?"

5 men dead, thats all of them. Individual stakeouts only go in that amount, We can't afford to throw that many men on one farmhouse.

Sergei leant by a rocky outcrop, adjusting his scope. He saw the enemy men attack the stakeout and grinned. It was a foolish move to go into the mountains, the resistance knew everything that moved in the difficult terrain.
His crosshairs found an officer, and he carefully waited until his breathing slowed. As he exhaled, the gun settled. He squeezed the trigger, and the dragunov, rather than making its characteristic bang, merely made a "tic!" sound as the bullet sped through the silencer. The officer dropped to the floor, wounded. Chernov, on the other side of the valley, saw the shot and let his own shot into the enemy. Sergei smiled to himself. The HV goggles Lukin had got them were paying off. Every lifeform in the base was bright, and he fired off four more rounds into the enemy. It was good shooting, at a range of 500 feet. Sergei fumbled for his radio.
"Ok Chernov, we've got them hopping. Lets go."
Sergei got off his prone position, and ran into the darkness. He took care to negotiate the tripmines they had rigged the forest with. It would be an interesting night.

Jassan, The Voltarum
The metropolis of Jassan was spread out from the man's seat. He payed a lot for this view, sometimes regretting it. But he could see pieces of the famed nightlife and downtown. He could hear the cheers from Shaftoe Memorial Stadium, where the Jassan Hellcats was undoubtedly beating their rival city of Likli at hookball. And most importantly, he could see the bay... the magnificient naval bases, which seemed oddly active at this hour. At least 10 ships, the balding, shirtless man thought to himself. He chugged the last of his beer, and then took a step out onto the windowsill. 10 ships, to go and win another battle. After all, the Voltarum navy always wins, right? Well, most of the time. How could they be so perfect, and I be so pitiful? Without another word, he took a step off the ledge, and plummeted 35 stories towards the pavement below. Left on his windowsill was the object he had been holding onto for the last 4 hours - Voltarum naval stripes.

At approximately 11:10 p.m. local time, a taskforce of ships left the naval port of Jassan and turned at full trottle in formation northeast. The group consisted of 12 (above surface) ships, including 1 Warcrown (Nimitz) class Carrier (with a full flight deck), 5 Waterhouse Class (Aleigh Burke) Destroyers, 4 Voltaru Class (Ticonderoga) Cruisers, and 2 Bearback Class (Oliver Hazard) Frigates. For anyone who knew the Voltarum Navy, there was sure to be several underwater "escorts" as well.

12 Hours Later, International Waters, V.B.S. Snarl, 42nd Battlegroup

The lower decks were chaos. The modifed training room walls seemed to come alive due to the intense training and exercises performed within. Marines, Hanjit thought to himself, were not meant to be cooped up in a ship like this for so long. Especially not Beta squadron marines. He could not wait till his feet hit real soil again.

He spit out a mixture of water and blood into the rusted pail to his left. A bell rang; it was time for the next round. His sparring partner, a 300 lb sergeant, looked as fresh as he did 9 rounds ago. Hanjit would have to change that.

OOC:Leme just introduce the admiral I'll RP with. Oh, yeah, you mixed your ships up, the Arleigh Burke is a cruiser.

IC:

Sovieten Waters, 3rd Fleet

The fleet steamed through the waters of Sovieten. The crew was getting restless. They'd been on high alert for the past few days. Marines patroled the vessels, occasionaly checking their XM8 carbines. The fleet was fairly large for a Doomingslandian formation, 20 vessels, consisting of 1 Greco Class carrier, the Spartan, which was the flagship, 4 Arleigh Burke class AGIES cruisers, one of which was equiped with the Jericho Fleet Air Defence System, 4 Ticonderoga cruisers, 6 Spruance class destroyers, and 5 Oliver Hazzard Perry class frigates. In addition to the surface vessels were 6 Seawolf class attack subs.

Sitting on the bridge of the Spartan was Admiral Gauis Brutus, a seasoned sailor with many a victory under his belt. He had served under Admiral Forest during the war against Psov, many years ago. He now commanded one of four Greco classes in the Doomingslandian navy.

"Sir, orders from the high command," said a sailor in a respective tone to his Admiral.

"Thank you, ensign, that'll be all," he replied, opening the manila folder,

To-Admiral Brutus, 3rd Fleet
From-Imperial High Command

Voltarum fleet put to sea.
Alert status to be increased.

---END TRANSMISSION---

Damn. he thought to himself as he went over the message once more. He noticed the message said nothing of them heading to redevous with the Canadian fleet, but he could draw that conclusion for himself. He wasn't positive Voltarum would get involved, but he could see why. They would probably try to get back at his country at any oppurtunity.

Commodore Mir Tapinski was not in a good mood. He was commander of the 6th naval task force in the Red Tidean Naval Base in Maldon Island in Sovieten. The Typhoon class was the main carrier of the fleet and typically designated flagship of a Naval Taskforce OR Naval Fleet. Then a ensign spoke up.
"SIR! Message from Naval Command!" The Communication Officer yelled. "Let me see it." Mir said. The letter went as follwing.

'By order of Supreme Commander Gregori MecKenna'

Lukin watched the company his men were keeping down run to the convenient cover of the farmhouse. Lukin had made it as easy as possible for them, and they moved straight towards it when the M2 position opened fire. He waited until they were nearing the building, before pulling the detonator from his pocket.
"Watch this, Cheslav." He muttered, before pressing the button. The full force of the five satchel charges inside the farm blew its windows out, and demolished the best part of the walls. It didn't kill many men, but it threw them to the floor. His men fired a last hasty volley, and packed up the M2. Lukin knew that the company would be incapacitated by the blast for a good half hour, easily enough time to prepare for the next conflict.

They wouldn't get trapped like that again. Now that they were 3 men short for at least 15 hours until 3 more men came over from Beta Aurigae VII, the team moved very catiously through the mountains checking their weapons frequently. As the light of day grew dim and night approached the soldiers switched on their Night Sensor Display's and kept moving. They would only stop for food and drinks and a short nap. As far as they new the enemy didn't have very much night capability but after wht happened back in that clearing they wouldn't make the mistake of underestimating the enemy again. Reaching a defensible area surrounded by small boulders for easy protection, they secured the area with motion sensors and sat down to eat and sleep, leaving a 5 man watch. It would be relativly quiet for at least a few hours before they set off again in the continuing search for the bastards that killed one of their comrades.

Even HV goggles couldn't tell how much damage had been done, but the others, seeing the explosion, fired their payload of LAWs, AT4s and Strela's at the previous expolsion. Matthias turned to the commander and gave his thanks and a warm smile, "Thank you, this will be useful to say the least, may the light watch over you." As soon as Matthias had proffered his gratitude, he turned, making his face stone again as he started to walk out, "Zerathil, get Kill Team Two and Kill Team Three back, immediately."

Zerathil acknowledged his orders a with a slight nod and took it upon himself to sit down in a vacant communications console, he pulled up the headset and plonked it on his head, "Kill Team Two and Kill Team Three, this is Arbiter Zerathil, you are hereby recalled, return to command post, over," Zerathil gave them a few seconds before a chorus of replies crackled in.

Matthias turned to see Zerathil striding towards him.

"It is done sir!" Arbiter Zerathil barked, almost like a hound keen to please it's master or in this case, a rotweiller in bad mood.

"Excellent Zerathil, I want Kill Team Two in the mountains as soon as possible" Zerathil looked slightly puzzled.

"But sir, isn't that the Kill Zone?" Matthias gave him a disappointed look.

"Whoever said we are the ones to suffer in the Kill Zone?"

Zerathil grinned, Matthias's demeanour bestowed confidence upon those near enough to hear his voice.

In about 30 minutes, the whole team was recalled and rearmed, within minutes, they were ready to get out to the Kill Zone with the aid of the Black Hawk that Matthias had gotten them.

Brother Merik scanned the rest of his Kill Team in the confines of the Black Hawk, he watched as Initiate Haken and Initiate Krik muttered among themselves while Neophyte Shuish and Acolyte Bahn discussed weaponry.

Merik was scanning the mountainside when he saw two flashes, a shriek began to cut through the din of rotors, "INCOMING! INCOMING SAM! INCOMING SAM!" Merik bellowed, a chorus of curses came and the helicopter veered heavily to the left, sending the first missile flying into nothing but clear open sky.

The second missile was faster, "We've taken a hit to the rotor! BRACE! BRACE!" the pilot yelled back from the cockpit, smoke began to pour from the from the tail as the rotor began to rattle, the screaming and cursing continued and the rotor went haywire and flew off in a shower of sparks and flame.

The pilot yelled back once more "WE ARE GOING DOWN! SAY AGAIN! WE ARE GOING DOWN!" and with that, the Black Hawk went crashing into the flat plane that announced the forest was ahead...

Brother Merik woke slowly, he was flat on his back, the first thing he saw was a gasmask, a soldier was squatted over him "Sir, this is Initiate Haken, you're OK, everyone is OK except the pilot, they got...well, squashed when we crashed." Merik began to rouse more quickly, he got up to his elbows and looked to the ruined remains of the Doomingslandian Black Hawk.

"Looks like we are moving out, help me up, Initiate."

Haken got to his feet and offered a hand of help, Merik took it and went to his feet with a groan, he checked his M-16 and the rest of his equipment, he quickly clicked on built-in Night Vision and Thermals, both worked flawlessly, bless durable Kriegos equipment.

Most of the soldiers were sitting down, nursing bruises, We were lucky bastards...the Emperor is truly watching over us, Merik bellowed.

"UP MAGGOTS! You are like Sovieten fresh off the teat!*" and with Merik's subtle method of persuasion, the whole squad pulled themselves up, out of the dirt.

The twilight began to set in, a red dusk, Red night...soldier's plight, "People! Hunt in twos! Sweep for traps!" Merik barked, only to get a jolly reply from Neophyte Shuish.

"Heh, sir, they can't shoot, can they? I mean, they obviously had some nice SAM and they missed the damn cockpit!"

Merik wasn't too sure, the Sovieten resistance seemed to be competent enough and Merik never underestimated his opponent, "Just stay in twos, ok Shuish? Or are you exempt from that?" Merik said.

"No sir!" was the happy reply, Shuish always had a positive outlook on things, he was only 19, from a noble family, so he would've had quite a nice life up to now, a short life that shouldn't have to end so soon.

The Kill Team moved out into the forest, a 5 metre distance between the groups of two.

"Roman, this is Eagle. I see that Treadle did their job. Open fire with mortars at the crash site, then retreat to Delta, Juliet, 21, 17 as fast as you can. Eagle out."

Lukin turned to his twelve men.
"Fix mortar shells," He growled. The men slotted the long shells onto their M16's. "Find a target." He aligned his own M16. "At this range, aim forty feet above ou target. Fire!"

The twelve mortar-rifles made a coughing sound, belched smoke, and th shells were whistling through the sky. The charges inside them were small, and Lukin knew they wouldn't cause massive damage, so he ordered his men to run to the nearest treeline. The crossed the ridge they had fired from, and the enemy went out of view. Lukin fumbled for his radio.

IC: Sven was laying in his hospital bed eating the green goo they called food, but then again what hospital served food that was edible anyway, when a man burst into his room looking very flustered.

"Sir, the entire squad was killed last night by the rebels."

Sven choked on his "food" when he heard the news. His whole squad dead, but how?

"How were they killed," demanded Sven now pushing his meal away.

"Rocket launchers from a pretty fair distance sir," came the reply.

"Bastards," said Sven more to himself than to anyone else.

"Sir," said the man with a puzzeled expression.

"Get me in communication with the companies right away," ordered Sven, "We need them evaced and regrouped back here immediatly."

"Right away sir," said the man who returned a few minutes later with a headset.

"Here you are sir."

"Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta, Echo, this is the Captain speaking my entire squad has been destoryed and I am in the hospital, I want all of you to call for evac immediatly and regroup back at the base. We need another strategy. See you soon."

The message was ended and Sven turned back to the man, "I want a secure line to Beta Aurigae VII immediatly I need to speak with the Governor General."

The pilot, Sgt. Carius Decimus, along with the other three crewmen, stood up, and split into pairs. These weren't militiamen, they were fully trained and equiped soldiers, all equiped with XM8 carbines. They quickly stripped out of their green flight suits, their fatigues underneath, and grabbed their body armor out from the ruined helicopter, and split off into two groups, switching on their IR goggles, and moving silently through the woods.

Carius got on his radio,

This is Charlie 32, we have been hit, and are down in hostile territory, we will assist Kreigo teams, over.

Affirmative, Charlie, call for evac when you're ready.

They had a distinct advantage over the rebels with their digital camoflauge, as its pixolated design rendered the user invisible to night vision equiptment.

IC: Brother Merik gave a yell as he saw the pilots scramble out of the helicopter, "You said they were dead!" Merik said.

"I suppose I was wrong, sir" Haken replied.

Brother Merik waved the pilots over, "OK, we hunt in twos, ok?" Merik ordered in a hush voice.

The Kill Team moved slowly, deeper and deeper into the forest, the crimson-orange light that pierced through the canopy gave a hellish feeling to the otherwise tranquil forest, the rustle of leaves beneath boots kept the men on edge.

"Kill Team, stay frosty and keep your eyes peeled, everyone, first man in a pair turns on his Thermals, second man turns on his Night Vision, got it?"s

The Kill Team nodded, a series of loud beeps came as NVGs and Thermals were turned on.

Merik clicked his own Thermals on, a loud beep came from his gasmask as his world was turned into a strange mix of reds, yellows, blues and greens. Merik began to hear insects chatter while the stray bird called out.

Suddenly, the silence was giving way to a low whistle...that slowly grew louder and louder, Merik yelled as he hit the dirt, trees and plants were shredded up as earth was sent flying into the air, a few minutes later and ghastly silence settled over the forest.

"Everyone OK?" Merik yelled through the choking smoke.

A chorus of acknowledgements came and Merik sagged.

Apart from the standard noises of a forest, all was silent except the rustling of leaves...

"You must hold still, captain. This was some serious damage here."

The nurse was unnaturally strong. Hanjit layed back down on the sickbay bed. Why were all the nurses so damn ugly on naval ships?

After knocking out his opponent last night in the 10th round, he had celebrated a little too much and got lost going back to his room... and ended up tripping down a flight of stairs. Or at least thats what they had told him... A mild concussion and a few stiches later, he felt fine, but this damn nurse insisted on a checkup. He kept telling her that he had been through a LOT worse.. if only she knew... How did the navy get anything done around here... no wonder the had the biggest military budget, they needed it for all their "procedures."

As the nurse wrapped up her examination, a bell rang out in the corridor. It was the call to alarm 3, Hanjit knew, meaning they have arrived. He could not wait to get this operation moving.

V.B.S. Snarl, Bridge

"Admiral, I need them off my ship... and as soon as possible, because... I might shoot them all if this keeps up."

The young captain of the Snarl, Grandal Iotip, stared off toward the ocean in front of him. Admiral V'lastidi did not seem as sympathetic as he had hoped.

"Patience, Captain. I know Marines, and especiall Beta marines, can be a handful, but if all goes well with the Canadians, you will soon be rid of them."

"Did I tell you how many things they broke down there? I didn't think anyone could be so ...exuberant... as I saw them celebrating, until I saw them train! I am glad about one thing - that they are on our side."

"I know, Captain. And you are stuck with them. It builds character. V'lastidi out."

...and at least it wasn't a banana," said her husband. "From outside Likli, Gamma Province, this is Guy Fleming, reporting."

"Thank you Guy. It other news, the body of another retired Voltarum naval officer was found last night. The body of retired Admiral Dalton Saltrow, former commander of the V.B.S. Snarl, was apparently thrown from his 35th floor apartment window in Jassan, Nu Province, sometime around 11:00 pm last night. High Minister of Justice Arecia Rainpebbe said that her department has already apprehended several suspects, all who have ties to the radical group called The Code. As you know, The Code has been blamed for all 4 of the suspicious naval officer's deaths this month. The Minister has kept information at a minimum but hinted it had something to do with the Snarl scandel of 4 years ago:

"We all know what happened, and it was a terrible trajedy. But it is in the past, and that is where it should stay in our thoughts. The Snarl has been retrofitted and is currently on a mission of great importance. We have all confidence that we have captured the culprits behind this, and that these attacks are over."

IC: The line to the Governor General was set up and Sven got ahold of him almost immediatly.

"Governor General Molotov speaking," came the voice at the other end.

"Hello sir, this is Captain Sven Njord over in former Sovietan. Sir we have a bit of a problem."

"What kind of a problem," asked Stanley warily.

"Well sir, it seems that the insurgents have a few tricks that we neglected to teach in Guerrila school. My whole squad was killed about 2 nights abgo after losing three men earlier that day. Myself and 2 others can be considered lucky as we were wounded and evaced after the first attack. I lost 17 good men in that attack sir and i want to avenge their deaths. But I do have a plan, i'll need the 3rd Marine Division and an experienced general."

Stanley who had been listening to the explaination in relative silence finally replied, "What for exactly Captain?"

"Well sir the best way to fight people like this is the think like them, you need to have the same information they do and more importantly you need numbers to pull it off. The 3rd marine division is 30,000 men which should be plenty for what I want to pull off. We need to put the men into the mountains move them in company sized groups through the woods, killing anything that moves. I want them equipped with gear that blockes their thermal energy from detectors and I want satalite surveilance of the mountains 24-7, we need to know the area as well or better than they do. We need an eye in the sky at all times running thermal imaging at distances of up to 2 km. In short sir we need to be smarter and faster then they are. This is the only way, none of that take prisoners shit, they need to be killed or the resistance will stay here forever. Can you give me what I want?"

There was silence on the other end of the line for a few minutes before Stanley replied, "I'm ok with the whole plan except for the last part. What your proposing is unthinkable an atrocity."

"You didn't think that way when we fought in the resistance together sir," replied Sven.

"Bastards. Keep moving."

They continued up the hill, their XM8 carbines at the ready. Suddenly, they heard movement up ahead.

"Check it out."

"Very well. I am off," Admiral V'lastidi said. He turned to his first officer. "Captain, you are in charge of the Shadowtale and the fleet. If anything happens, contact me immediately."

20 minutes later

Admiral V'lastidi, Captain Hanjit, a female submarine captain, and a man dressed in ambassador's robes boarded a helicopter on the Shadowtale. The female captain was very tall and thin, and pale as a ghost. On her lapel sat the embroidered word "ICE". Her uniform identified her last name: Saltrow. 1 hour later, Dera Saltrow would learn of her beloved father's death.

The man in ambassador's robes was no ambassador to the decerning eye, as he looked strong enough to pick up several real ambassadors. He was obviously there for protection, just in case something went wrong. If someone knowledgeable in such things were to get close enough, they would see a tattoo on the back of his neck - the symbol of The Guard, the Secret Service of the Voltarum.

After checking with the fleet to make sure the skies were clear, the chopper lifted off the deck and headed toward the Spirit of the North, where it landed 10 minutes later.

The Commanche was two fast for the rockets, and managed to dodge both with ease. The .50 cal round had hit nead the cockpit, narowly missing the crew, and pissing both pilots off tremendously. More support was called for, and an A10 armed with 8 canisters of napalm swooped in over the treetops, releasing its canisters around suspected positions (around the nade explosions, but not directly on). A second A10, armed with 8 FFAR pods, also swooped in, raking the forest with rockets.

OOC: hopefully this will be the last installment of this incredibly long post but one never knows.

IC: He's right, thought Stanley to himself at the other end of the line, that wasn't the way I thought back then. But now after over 20 years I thought I had washed my hands of those atrocities. Maybe he's right the only way to take out these people was to think and fight like they did. Afterall that's what nearly made us lose our little insurection, besides Sven was part of the team I lead to take the capital. He saved our lives then and I trust his judgement if that's the way he thinks it should be done than I'm behind him.

"Very well Sven, i'll give you the men and equipment you need," he relpied at last.

"Thank you sir, i'll expect them here within the week."

"Sure thing and take care of yourself out there," said Stanley and he hung up.

With the conversation over the first order of business was to get out of this damn hospital.

"Nurse," he called, "I want to see the doctor in here immediatly."

"Right away captain," said the nurse sourly as she walked off muttering to herself about how those military types were all the same.

The doctor walked into Sven's room a few minutes later.

"The nurse said you asked for me."

"Yeah doc, can you get me out of here, I need to get back to my men they have to have made it back by now."

"As a matter of fact they have Captain but I'm afraid that you need to stay here for at least another few hours so I can do one final check before you leave."

"Alright but make it quick," growled Sven.

2 Days Later...

Sven had been discharged from the hospital and was waiting at the airport for his re-enforcements to arrive. He scanned the horizon and saw a bunch of faint specks in the sky. That had to be his men. 15 minutes later the fleet of C-5's had unloaded all of their troops and began refuleing for the journey back to Beta Aurigae VII.

Sven had already met with the general sent over, Jorj Car'daas, on what his plan was and what exacly the function of the division was going to be. They needed a few days to make sure the gear was functional and get the satalite pictures they needed for the operation. Meanwhile, Sven's men would take up positions in their squads again but this time they would be at the military bases the rebels were so fond of raiding. The troop deployments would take place in two days.

The ground forces advanced over the strafed areas, pulling the charred and burnt corpses of the Canadian SFs out from beneath the ruin of the forest. They would continue to wait on high alert, as they figured at least one or two may have escaped. To help hunt down insurgents, a squad of the elite Arcani was flown over to Sovieten from Doomingsland.

Trained from birth, genetically pure, these men were incapable of emotion. They were highly intellegent, usualy having an IQ of 140. Most of their knowledge was devoted to different ways to kill people. These men were Doom Legionaries picked for their effeciency in stealth and tracking. They were excelent for counter-insurgency missions.

The leader of this particular squad, Lt. Marius Cnaeus, was a seasoned veteran who had fought in many wars. He was a hardened man, and an excelent marksman.

He and his squad of seven other elite soldiers landed in Everone AFB an hour after the incedent with the Canadians, as they had actualy been ordered over the previous day. The High Command, not wanting to be left out of the special forces activities going on, had decided to deploy their own SFs.

They were equiped with the latest weaponry, including the VEPR S2 LSS combat system (see Soviet Bloc's thread for details), XM8 varient weapons, among other things.

Upon landing, Marius met the general, and recieved orders,

"Lieutenant, good of you to join us."

"Reporting as ordered, sir," he replied emotionlessly.

"Yes, I can see that. Now, I already have an assignment for you. Just an hour ago, paratroopers landed in Sovieten at this particular area..." he said, pointing at a map, "You are to be transported there immediatly, and you will hunt down and kill any survivors. If you get the chance, bring me one alive."

"Yes, general." he replied saluting, and marching off with the rest of his men to an awaiting Chinook. Their advanced equiptment would give them a definite edge over their opponents, in addition to training.

Meanwhile, two darkstar UAVs began patroling over the forest area were the fighting with the Canadians had broken out, one near the coast, the other over the forest itself, both flying at high altitude, providing live data feed to commanders and the Arcani. They would be able to stay up for nearly a day without refueling, constantly providing nightvision, thermal vision, and regular feed to the men.

The two surviving Knights kept an eye on the two UAVs, they were used to unmanned vehicles, given the amount used in the Tundra, and the various skirmishes between the Tundric Defence Forces and the Free Provincial Alliance. However, just because they were used to them didn't mean they were careless.

They continued their way through the jungle, using all their years of training and experience to make it towards the coast. They spent most of their time dodging Doomingslandian patrols and keeping in thick cover, where air units and satellites would be unable, or at the very least, have difficulty, spotting them.

They immediatly moved in on the area were the heat and movement was eminating from. They made use of their MARPATs to mask themselves from enemy NVGs, and made use of thermal imaging to hunt their enemies. They proceeded completely silently, using their lifetime of training in counter insurgency.

They all had regular NVGs, thermal imaging, EM detecting, and motion tracking systems built into their helmets. Basicly, if the Canadians had any electronics on them that were turned on, they could be seen. If they made any sudden movements, they could be seen.

In addition to that, they had cameras built into their rifles, so if they needed a better look, they need only poke their rifle around a tree.
