OOC: This is at the request of Indra Prime, and will also coincide with the development of Veredian Temporal Technologies (to be in another thread). The purpose of this thread is to record the development status of this technology, the purpose of which is the miniaturization of Indra Prime's Temporal Technology (and any technology in general) through nanotechnological manipulation etc etc. If your lost right now and have no idea of what this means, it basically means we're working on miniaturizing technology to much smaller sizes, with identical to superior abilities and efficiency, and the like. If you have no idea of the specifics of how this would work or anything, don't worry, neither do I (at the time of this writing, although I am going to discuss it with Indra, and do some reading up on it). Note, this isn't an actual RP, just more of a documentation of this technology's development.

*Veredian Temporal Guard station, system: unknown*

The monstrous Light of the New Dawn class cruiser coasted up into position, and locked onto the docking port of the immense fortress like research lab that was the nexus of Veredia's temporal technologies program.

As the docking port opened up, allowing access from the ship to the station, Admirals Theisman and Harvey escorted by a contingent of marines stepped off the vessel and walked down the long corridor and entered the station proper. Once onboard, the station commander, Temporal Guard Commodore Adams, and head researcher Doctor Alayna Browne, along with a group of department heads and a pair of Temporal Guard Infantryman.

The Admirals and Commodore saluted each other as they approached, the Commodore was wearing the standard uniform of a Temporal Guard naval officer (there were only a handful, since the temporal guard was really more of a theoretical research division then a full fledged arm of Veredia's military). He wore black pants with a very dark blue shirt, and a black cape that was fastened on his right breast by a grey metal Temporal Guard pin. On the cape was the symbol of the Temporal Guard in silver.

"Admirals, it is an honour to have you aboard my station...if you'd care for a tour, I can show you around while my station's kitchen staff prepare some food for us" the Commodore said.

"I'm sorry Commodore, but I must refuse, I have come here on important business, I would rather we discuss it in private, you, me, Admiral Theisman, and Doctor Browne" Admiral Harvery replied.

"Very well Admiral, we can go to our conference room" the commodore replied as he motioned for the others to follow, and dismissed his two infantryman.

The infantry saluted and took up guard positions at the docking port entryway. Admiral Harvey dismissed his guards as well, and they took up guard positions with the two infantryman. Doctor Alayne, not having spoken a word yet dismissed her fellow scientists, and followed the military officers.

The four arrived at the conference room, entered, and sat down in four chairs at one end of the table where there was a vidscreen. Admiral Harvey inserted a datacrystal into the screen's player and activated it.

The screen came to life and showed a space station that was under construction, with a full regiment of warships surrounding it, providing defence.

"Gentlemen...lady, I am here on orders straight from parliament and the Prince Regent himself. Veredia started its temporal technology program three years ago, so far, it has been primarily theoretical, with few actual physical accomplishments. This, is going to change. We have been approved a significant budget to begin development of Temporal cores, engines, shielding, and weaponry. We have basic understanding and information on these provided by Indra Prime, although they are rough descriptions of what they do, not so much how the devices work. However, also as part of an exchange program with Indra Prime, we are to develop some new miniaturization technologies that will condense Indra Prime, and our own, temporal technology, and, well, other technologies, into nano sizes, thus allowing us to fit weapons, engines, shields, and other such objects into much smaller ships, greatly expanding our fleet capabilities and power abilties. In exchange for this technology, Indra Prime is giving us their Multiphasic Shield technology, which will vastly improve fleet defence. Also, to aid in the development of temporal technologies, we may be able to acquire several pieces of Indran technology to use in the miniaturization research, and thus, some of your scientists Doctor Browne will be able to get a close up look at Indran Temporal Technology to get some ideas for your own development programs. Since the current focus of the miniaturization research is temporal technology, a team of Temporal scientists here will be transferred to the new research station for the miniaturization research, where we are already assembling an extensive team of some of Veredia's top nanotechnologists. The new station will be commanded by Admiral Theisman here." Admiral Harvey said as images of the differing subjects appeared on the screen.

"What?! You want to take away some of my researchers?!" Doctor Browne exclaimed.

"Yes, but, there will be an advanced communications link up between this station and the new station, which will allow you to maintain contact."

The discussion continued on for approximately an hour, and afterwards, the cruiser left, with plans to return a week later to pick up the team of researchers and some equipment.

The ship dropped off Admiral Theisman onto a construction ship so that he could oversee construction of the new research station.

A man with a briefcase handcuffed to his arm walks through the doors. He is a minister from Piquantrax who must deliver a new part for the latest project code named PROTON. He passes through the next hallway salutes the guards and walks into what appears to be a large board room. There is a large bay window over looking a massive lab.
From the left enters the delegation and they sit. Words are exchanged, and the man unlocks the handcuffs. He opens the briefcase, and as he does, the delegates smile. This is the missing piece to the process. This is the top of the pyramid.
They exchange handshakes. A check is written and the delegate leaves.

IC:

Doctor Stephan O'Hara was a relatively new scientist on the project, having been assigned only two years ago. The project had gone on for five and a half years, and considerably progress was being made. They had already implemented new manufacturing methods at navy yards to shrink down conventional Veredian systems by some 10%, and the navy was gladly pouring additional funds into the trillion dollar plus project.

Also, the Temporal research was going along well, though once some of the scientists could get a look at Indran technology, they expected to put some of what they saw into practice if at all possible. Temporal cores and engines were the priority, and they expected to have a test ship constructed in three years.

The most exciting part was coming up though, Indran vessels were going to show up at the research station to assist with testing the newest theories and methods, which would allow miniaturization by some 20-25% they predicted, and the manufacturing tests used to construct several Derrier Pulse Cannons had allowed them to shrink it down by 17%, although that was before they reworked the theories, and processes. They knew they could build it, but they didn't know if it would work properly, so once the Indrans came, they would test one of their rumoured PSP guns compared to one they would construct with the new processes.

A pair of naval vessels was already laying down targets for testing, and O'Hara couldn't wait to see the Indra ships. Of course, the Indrans hadn't told them how many were coming, or what kinds, so the whole research was waiting with an almost giddy anticipation to see the temporal warships.

Classified Veredian Temporal Research Space Station, Milky Way Galaxy

With the hustle and bustle of the station’s personnel and the vessels going about their assignments in the surrounding space, no one noticed a slight gravitational distortion this close to the station’s habitat. For more than six months, the Indran Temporal Scout Discovery, named after the prehyperspace Space Shuttle employed by the ancient United States of America, had been monitoring the development of the Veredian Temporal and Miniaturization Technology on orders that came directly from the Temporal Incursion Fleet High Command. Now that the Veredians had gotten to a point in their research where they will benefit the most from intrusion by the Indran Temporal Incursion Fleet who had recently been assigned to assist the development of this technology for use in the next generation of Indran Temporal Warships.

Brigadier General Thomas Valhalla, commanding officer of the Discovery, sat in his command chair in his full dress uniform, looked around at the other officers manning the bridge stations who were also in full dress uniforms. The only souls aboard the Discovery who were not in Full Dress were the soldiers stationed at the nerve center entrances, and on patrol throughout the vessel. As a highly decorated officer in the Indran Temporal Navy, he had been given command over the entire fleet of vessels that were soon to arrive in this system. As any good commander would automatically to do, he had reviewed the specs on the vessels that were being sent from the Gamma Eridani, to assist in this technological explosion for both the Commonwealth of Veredia and the Temporal Research Commission of Indra Prime.

A signal started to flash on one of the holographic displays of the Communications Station which caught the general’s eye. Almostly immediately following that signal, a second signal started to flash, this time on the holographic display of the Sensor Station. After the Discovery AI had determined the indentity of sender of the communiqué, the information came up on both holodisplays and the communication officer spoke up to give up the information to the General.

”General, we have received word from the Columbia. The fleet is within sensor range. They have dropped out of Temporal Hyperspace and are within ten million klicks of the station. The Columbia is the lead vessel in the flotilla of twenty six vessels. They are awaiting orders from you to decloak and make their appearances known.”

The General stood up from his command chair and straightened out his tunic, before giving the next orders.

“Captain, open a secure hyperwave transmission to the Columbia.”

“The Channel is open, general. The Channel is secured, sir.”

“Colonel Marshall, this is General Valhalla of the Discovery. The Epsilon Fleet is ordered to rendezvous with the Discovery above the Veredian Research Station. You are also ordered to make best speed. Verification code: Bravo Delta Mike Mike November. Valhalla out.”

Within three minutes of sending that communication to the Discovery, Twenty six vessels of the Indran Temporal Incursion Fleet eased into a radial starburst formation around the Research Station. Without any detectable communication signal between vessels, all twenty seven vessels decloaked as one, each one with their bow facing the core of the Research Station. The vessels that arrived are as follows:

1 – Retribution Class Spectre Dreadnaught
1 – Phaeralon Class Flagship
4 – Aeon Class Timeships
3 – Schrödinger Class Chrono Frigates
6 – Relativity Class Temporal Destroyers
1 – Dali Class Temporal Sensor Ship
4 – Singularity Class Temporal Battle Cruisers
4 – Quantum Class Temporal Battleships
2 – Omega Class Temporal Dreadnaughts

"Holy f***cking s***!" the station Enlightenment's tactical officer yelled as he slammed the alert button on his console, after seeing twenty some odd vessels pop out of nowhere, facing the station, ready to turn into scrap metal.

"Tactical, what the h*** is going on?!" Admiral Theisman dmanded.

"Twenty-six ships just popped out of nowhere sir! I don't know how but they got past our defence lines, FTLi, sensor grid, everything! I don't have a clue of who they are sir! Request permission to engage!" the tactical officer frantically responded, honestly thinking he would see the all to familiar energy spike signalling weapons fire and his life would be over in the next few seconds.

"Negative, we'll wait to see what they do before engaging, divert all power to shields and weapons though" the admiral ordered as he went to activated his fleetwide comm.

He hit the switch for the fleetwide comm and started issuing orders to the warships that were frantically moving about with the arrival of the unknown ships, "All vessels, assume battle formation delta 3-7. Launch ECM platforms, drones, and ready point defence systems. Deploy fighter screens and prepare to engage with full missile salvos!" Theisman ordered.

"Sir, I can't get acquire a firing solution! Other tactical officers are reporting the same!" the tactical officer reported.

"What, what do you mean!?" the admiral demanded.

"Some sort of radiation being emitted sir, no one can target them!" the tactical officer, breaking out in a sweat.

"The dumbfire all the weapons for f***s sake! Get the platforms turned around and lining up shots as best as they can!" the admiral ordered.

The defence platforms' maneuvering thrusters igniting, spinning around the small defence stations to bring the bulk of their armament to bear on the invaders.

It had been about fifteen seconds after the arrival of the invaders, and a squad of marines burst in the room, setting up a six barreled pulse gun facing the door and slamming open the command center armoury to distribute pulse compacts and rifles to the crew in case of boarders, which they were begging to expect since the ships hadn't fired yet.

Everyone was as prepared as they were going to ever be, and now that, scared, nervous, and wondering if they would live long enough to even figure out who the invaders were.

As soon as the General saw that the Veredians had scrambled, he felt in a joking mood, so he decided to advance the test to the next level. When he arrived on the bridge of the fleet's Phaeralon Flagship, he gave the following order.

"Major Grant, activate the GCT. Lieutenant, charge the emitters to full power and divert power from the engines and sensors to the emitters. I want this next phase to be the best test these people will ever recieve from us."

The General crossed the lower level of the bridge, and sat down in the command chair that Colonel Tonallan got up to vacate for the General. With Tonallan in the SiC seat to the General's right, and the general all ready to take on this next target assignment. The Lieutenant at the Special Weapons Console called out the power level requirements for each of the emitters.

"General, the total emitter output is at twenty five percent....thirty percent....forty percent....fifty percent...seventy five percent...ninety percent....General we are at one hundred percent total power output. Weapons fire is at your command."

Excellent, The General thought Now that they will be able to detect this powersource, we can see what their response is to a superior enemy. All we have to do is wait for this test to commence.

"Colonel, Stand by for my order to initiate reaction. Fire on my command."

"General Targeting systems locked and standing by. Waiting on your order."

Several more seconds passed by when power levels surged to an unknown device aboard what appeared to be the flagship of the fleet.

"Uh...sir, I'm getting more specific information on the ships, the largest one appears to be...fifteen, I say again, FIFTEEN, kilometers long sir. Power is surging to an unknown system sir, could be anything from an FTL their version of a Kanuckistani superheavy!" the tactical officer reported, his finger hovering above the fire command.

"Get ready to fire lieutenant, but hold off on it until I say so, I don't want to start an interstellar war here" the admiral ordered as he configured his chair's comm system for stationwide.

"All non-combat personnel take all the research data you can and get to the escape pods! Comms, gather all research information you can and dump it in a message with as much encryption as you can to Veredia and the Clee San!" the admiral ordered.

The tactical officer was quickly reorgnazing his drones, probes, and ECM and gun platforms when the 15 klick long ship had an energy spike, "Son of a bi***, they're firing!" he screamed.

He quickly uttered a short prayer and prepared to die, as did most of the bridge crew, when nothing happened. No black hole appeared, no warpstorm, no sudden army of enemy troops on the station, no energy beams ripping through them. Then they looked down at their hands and saw grilled cheese sandwiches in them. Some of the marines were holding their weapons with both hands when it happened, and the sandwiches replaced the weapons they were holding, but they were shaped identical to the weapons, as if they had turned into them.

*Aboard the VSS Silent Vigil*

The tactical officer aboard the destroyer Silent Vigil watched with nervousness as energy spiked aboard the fifteen kilometer ship, he could hear one of his fellow bridge officers muttering 'I don't want to die, I don't want to die...'. When he saw the energy spike, he reacted on instinct, not even bothering to wait for the admiral's orders, or to see if the station was damaged in any way, he instinctively hit the fire command button for the 108 Centaur missile tubes and a full salvo went flying towards the immense unknown vessel.

A fellow tactical officer on another destroyer did the same, and the two missile salvos went tearing through space in the general direction of the vessel, since a firing solution was impossible.

The first salvo went wide, continuing through space until they ran out of power and the warheads exploded on their own to avoid leaving unexploded ordnance drifting through space.

The second salvo was more on the mark though, heading towards the middle part of the ship, when grids upon grids of what appeared to be point defence lasers tore the missiles to pieces.

*Back aboard the station Enlightenment*

A cloud of escape pods was rushing away from the station, and the crew, who were expecting to be dead, started in awe at what appeared to be tasty, good old fashioned grilled cheese sandwiches in their hands.

"Sergeant, what in the f*** is going on?!" a marine asked as he stared at his rifle, which had been turned into a rifle shaped sandwich.

The tactical officer let out a few nervous chuckles, as did most of the crew, as he stared at his computer console, the sensor screen, where his left hand had been tracing platform positions and ship positions, was now a sandwich, his right hand, which had hovered above the fire position, and the panel around it, was also a sandwich.

Some of the officers broke out laughing as they stared at the sandwiched equipment, but Admiral Theisman sat dumbfounded, unsure of whether to be afraid of a ship capable of doing this and engage, or to join in the laughter of what appeared several now hysterical officers.

"Comms...hail their lead ship" the admiral ordered as he started in amazement at his armrest consoles, which were now thoroughly sandwich.

The comm officer, who had been holding his pulse compact, threw down the grilled cheese weapon and quickly sent the standard greeting signal.

"Well, what do you know, these aren't bad, not bad at all" one of the marines said as he tried a bite of the sandwich that had replaced his rifle.

"Damnit marine! The corps doesn't issue you a weapon so you can eat it!" the sergeant yelled out, before he himself fell into temptation, and bit off part of what had once been the sight.

General Valhalla sat in his command chair watching the reports come in from all over the system about the test that just took place. He could sense the myrth of the crew around him, and of course he also felt the amusement the rest of his command crew did. This was not the run of the mill ordinary test. He had to see how this ally of theirs would react to a situation that was entirely unexpected. The comms officer choked down a chuckle when a signal was received from the vessel that fired the first volley of missiles at the Indran Phaeralon Command Ship.

"General, we...ahem... excuse me, we have received a standard greeting hail from the lead vessel, the same one who launched the initial attack on us."

General Valhalla glanced once more over the holographic display of the VSS Silent Vigil and ordered to open a comm channel with the vessel. Immediately, a holographic image appeared in the fore section of the Phaeralon's bridge. That image was of Admiral Theisman and the command center of the VSS Silent Vigil. As soon as the hologram appeared in the front of the Phaeralon's bridge, the Bridge crew immediately assumed the most clean cut posturing and moved like a well oiled machine as it appeared to an outside observer. General Valhalla stood up from his command chair and took a few steps toward the holographic image of the Admiral.

"Admiral Theisman, I am Brigadier General Thomas Valhalla of the Indra Prime Temporal Incursion Fleet High Command, and this is my flagship, the Phaeralon. Under the direct orders of the Temporal Incursion Fleet High Command, we had been ordered to initiate tests on you, your people, and your facility. The incident you have just experienced, was caused by a device on board our vessel called the GCT, or the Gyro Chrono Transducer. It can subatomically rearrange particles in a certain radial range to any simple object as the target is deemed. That is how all your soldiers weapons and anything anyone was touching was turned into the Grilled Cheese as you are undoubtedly aware of.
You and your people have passed the test spectacularly. We are now allowed to advance to the next stage. We have been authorized to allow twenty five of your scientists to study the inner workings of the twenty seven vessels that are here. The rest of your scientific staff will be allowed to tour the vessels on hand, as long as they submit to thorough screening and no recording devices are discovered on their person. They will be allowed to learn what they observe, though they cannot record any information at the time of the tour. We are here to help, but you must follow our rules aboard our vessels without question. Any violation of this agreement will result in subsequent banishment from our vessels and hostile action has been permitted against your vessels and your station. Do we make ourselves perfectly clear, Admiral?"

OOC: Sorry I haven't been on for a while, been out getting stuff, doing schoolwork, and other RL stuff

"Roger that General Valhalla, I will have a team sent over to your flagship to start studying. Since this is a research project, I will have the lead researcher, Doctor Alayna Browne, acting as liason, if you would rather not work with a civilian scientist, then I can send one of my command staff over. Now I'll have to ask you to excuse me, as me and my people have some computer consoles and weapons that need to be replaced, thanks to your...test" the Admiral said as he nodded to his comm officer to get the scientists ready.

The science team under Alayna gathered in the hangar and hopped aboard a shuttle which would ferry them to the first ship they would take a look at, the Indran flaship.
