In 1989, The Republic Government requested a heavy machine gun to replace the M-2 .50cal. The weapone chosen was the 15.5mm BRG-15. The weapon which is one of the most powerful weapons outperforming the KPV 14.7mm. It has a dual feed system.The BRG-15 can pierce 10mm of steel armour at 30 degrees at the distance of 1350 meters
