The Dark Masters of Andromeda

Background for the coming:" Invasion of the Dark Masters "

Millennia Ago….

…… during Earth’s Paleolithic Age or the Old Stone Age when mankind was just beginning to learn a spoken language and how to craft crude tools & weapons from wood & stone. ( HUM111 ) There existed a highly advanced civilization that lived on a small island continent located somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean which was known as “ ATLANTIS “.
The Atlantics were a race of scientific genius whose downfall on Earth was brought on by their dabbling in the Dark Arts. The reason this caused their downfall is because it was their Dark Arts usage that revealed to them the existence of other dimensions…. what might be called parallel dimensions. However, only one of these parallel dimensions…. a dimension called WARP SPACE or just the Warp became their Nemesis. Later they found out that Warp Space was known by many names such as Chaos, the Ether, the Empyrean, and the Immaterium.
This new & terrible dimension did not conform to the laws of physics & nature as are known in this dimension.... the Material Plane . This of course intrigued the Atlantics who curiosity caused them to want to Master this new dimension as they had the Material Plane.
So they began a new study, which they called Warp Technology. Through these studies they learned that Warp Space can be likened to an ocean, and like the ocean, has its currents and its still spots, its whirlpools and its tempest. They learned that Great Storms sweep through this immaterial realm, spinning craft out of control for light years around, destroying all those embroiled in its merciless energies. They found evidence of ships being thrown thousands of light years off course or hurled backwards or forwards through time, destined to wander the stars for eternity with no chance of ever returning home.
As these studies progressed the Atlantics learned that Warp Storms weren’t the only dangers to be found within the Warp. Like real space of the material plane, they found that the Warp was inhabited. Sentient energies & other immaterial life forms dwell within it. Creatures formed from & sustained by the shifting energies of the Warp. Few of these were found to be friendly, most were found to be predatory & hostile. These entities were found to be able to thrive on the thoughts & emotions of those who dwell in the material plane, through possession of the weak, nurturing their foul ambitions of power & conquest.
The Atlantics also discovered that occasionally the link between Warp Space & the Material Realm can be weakened, allowing energy from Warp Space to burst through into the Material Plane. Sometimes this causes a vortex of tremendous power, which would destroy any nearby stars or planets. Of the known rips between the Warp & the Material Plane, the two largest of them the Atlantics named the “ Eye of Terror “ and
“ The Maelstrom “.
These regions of the Milky Way Universe they found are extremely dangerous & cannot be traversed except by the most experienced Navigators. The conditions in these locations are so hazardous that virtually no expeditions into these areas ever return. Of the very few that has, the survivors speak of a nightmare region where nature & physics are forgotten, a place where madness & confusion reign.
Eventually the Atlantics learned enough about traversing the Warp that they found a humanoid society also inhabited the Warp. The Imperium of Mankind a ten thousand year old empire ruled by an Evil Emperor, a creature so old that its body is said to be shattered & withered to the point of being a living skeleton. But who survives through restorative magical elixirs & an alchemical gas that billows from its throne ….. the Golden Throne of Terra. It is said that through his vast psychic powers he rules this Nightmare realm with an iron fist.
Unfortunately for the Atlantics, their probing were eventually discovered by the Carrion Lord of the Imperium of Mankind. Fearing that the location of Earth would be discovered by this nightmarish realm lord. The Atlantics hid their beautiful city in the depths of the ocean beyond the reach or ability of discovery by this foul creature. Then disappeared into the depths of the open space between galaxies. ( WH40k )

Centuries Later….

The Atlantics Descendants starships finally achieved their goal… the Andromeda Galaxy. Because the descendants had become a fractured society during their long space journey. They decided to colonize two different planets instead of just one as was originally planned. The first group to colonize a planet was the group who wanted to continue their fore fathers investigation of Warp Space. This group found a suitable Class-M planet in what is now known as the Magi-Deke Solar System which they named Palladium.
The second traveled far beyond into a different system where they also found a suitable Class-M planet which they named Atlantis II in what is now known as the System of the Gods. There they learned the reason why that area of space is named as it is. It is the New Home of some of the old gods of Earth.
The Atlantic Descendants of Palladium went ahead with their plans to continue the fore fathers investigations of Warp Space. Eventually the Carrion Lord rediscovered them through these investigations and sent a Imperium Star Fleet to conquer them and add them to the planets of the Imperium of Mankind. The Carrion Lord then engineered a wormhole from Warp Space into the Magi-Deke solar system which allowed warp space to enter this area which he wished to be flooded by warp space.
Finally the Triadian Federation learned of this invasion of their space and erected a zone of null space around the warp space that stopped its spread into the surrounding space. This null space was also designed to cut off the inhabitants of this new Warp Space from the surrounding Normal Space. Over the years a few attempts have been made to breach this null space but all were totally destroyed by their attempts.

ooc: Dude, is that entire first section copied from a WH40k thing with a few words changed, or is it just a remarkable coincidence? I mean, you could at least be a bit less obvious.

Dude... actually only parts are found in the WH40k Corebook, and I have made entries in the text that identifies it as information from the above named text. What better way is there to describe the Imperium of Mankind then from the wh40k? Unforunately you missed the point I am trying to make which is the background cause of the birth of the Dark Masters. It is unforunate indeed that there is always someone who misunderstands and
trys to cause a problem where none exist.

I'm sorry you feel that way Tessen.... I believe this will become very interesting for many people of NS. This thread was written with the intention
of causing a NS wide conversation about the coming Invasion thread. What better way is there to spark interest in participating in the Invasion Thread.

of the Imperium of Mankind.

I wasn't trying to start an argument or cause trouble, I just thought it was familiar. I didn't know what the bold was for. I might join in, but I want to see where this is actually going first.
