The Mother Storm

OOC: Anyone who's read the edge chronicles will get this. I have of course had to adapt it slightly but OOC comments are welcome. It is confusing, but you'll probably get it. It'll be a character RP, just me, all by myself. Once the storm strikes then you can offer aid etc...

IC:
Gilda stood on the edge of the banks of the Edgewater River, once a mighty torrent of water, flooding from River-Rise spring in the north, all the way to the Edge Bay. Now however, it was a small stream, a trickle, winding its way through the centre of the river-bowl. The summer had been long and dry, and the river, Sanctaphrax's main source of water, had dried up.
But that was about to change Gilda thought to herself happily. The meteorologists had predicted that a storm would strike soon, not just any storm, but a Mother Storm. The most powerful of all the elements. The Mother Storm would get to River-Rise spring, and there it would rejuvenate the dying spring.
Only... only there was something niggling at Gilda's mind. Old Sanctaphrax! She thought to herself. The skyscrapers of Old Sanctaphrax would surely cause the Mother Storm to release her mighty power there. If that happened, then she would never reach River-Rise, and if that happened, then the Edgewater River would dry up completely. She had to alert everyone, only nobody would listen to her. She was only 16 and nobody liked her. She had to do something.

OOC: This is Momanguises entry into this RP. Its closed for now. Just me and Momanguise.
MO=Momanguise
SA=Sanctaphrax

SA: Gilda was standing next to the river, staring queitly into the shallow murky waters when she heard a twig snapping behind her

MO: The young boy facing her was the most peculiar looking youth she had ever set eyes on. His skin was as pale of silk, and from beneath his jet black brow two violently blue eyes stared vividly at her.

SA: Gilda jumped, he walked so queitly, as usual, her friend Jaria had managed to get within a few metre of hers before she heard him. He was possibly her only friend, he'd stood by her when her parents had both been washed away by the mighty Edgewater River. Since then, every day she had come and looked into the depths of this river, as if hoping to find them again.

MO: He spoke, his voice low and intense and deadly serious. 'You spend too much time by the river. Let us learn of the forests, the fields, the mountains, the old tales tell of those who while away their lives by the river.'

SA: "Wait... I have to tell you something. It regards the Mother Storm. Old Sanctaphrax's skyscrapers stand in her way and the Mother Storm will blow Old Sanctaphrax down and she'll never reach River-Rise and all life in Sanctaphrax will cease." She babbled this last bit, pouring out her heart to Jaria, as she so often did. He was the only person who would both listen to her and take her seriously.

MO: He raised a hand to stop this out burst, his eyebrows notched in concentration. 'Even if,' he began, 'Even if we tell anyone else about this, they will never listen. How can you know this and prove it to anyone else?'

SA:"Only the meteorological station in River-Rise, by the great spring will be able to see it. I don't see why they haven't noticed it yet. Or maybe they have..." She trailed off slightly as an idea came to her. "Maybe they have noticed but aren't telling anyone"

MO: "Why on earth wouldn't we have been told about it?"

SA: "I don't know do I? We have to go to the meteorological station and see whats going on"

MO: He looked seriously at her, contemplating the true meaning of this statement. "For us to make it", he began, he face clouded in anxiety, "Would be to achieve what many have died for. Could we really make it?"

SA: "We'd have to cross the Mire, and hitchhiking is an on-the-spot 100 phraxdust fine, 100 phraxdusts that we just don't have. So we have to walk, across the Mire, and through the Deepwoods. We'd have to reach into the deepest part of the Deepwoods, the source of legends, River-Rise spring."
Her eyes glazed over as she contemplated leaving Undertown, and going to River-Rise.
She'd never left the city before but with Jaria, she'd try. It could mean the lives of thousands of people.

MO: He extended his hand, "For the people of the great city, I will do this. I cannot stand by and let this happen. You have my full support."

SA: "no time like the present" she said, trying to disguise the fear in her voice. She clasped his hand.
They both went home, of course, Jaria still had his parents, so it would be harder for him to escape, no-one would miss her. She packed the stuff she might need. A knife, her pitiful supplies of money, 10 phraxdusts, a pair of binoculars and the letter that her parents had once written to her. She always carried it with her, it had never left her pocket.
