It was with great distress that I read the United Nations report on the fledgling nation of The Holy Empire Of Mortondiri:
The Holy Empire of Mortondiri is a tiny, devout nation, notable for its barren, inhospitable landscape. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 6 million are ruled by a mostly-benevolent dictator, who grants the populace the freedom to live their own lives but watches carefully for anyone to slip up.
The enormous, corrupt government juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Religion & Spirituality, and Healthcare. The average income tax rate is 30%. A large private sector is led by the Trout Farming industry, followed by Furniture Restoration and Woodchip Exports.
Elections have been outlawed. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is well under control, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Mortondiri's national animal is the hawk and its currency is the Holy Alliance Pound.
The Holy Emperor (Aviatora VII), in accordance with the wishes of the Archbishop, strongly denies all accusations of corruption at any level of government of the Second Holy Alliance of the Holy Empire Of Mortondiri. Indeed, should any government of any other nationstate repeat such accusations, we shall have no choice but to cease all exports of woodchips to said nation until an unreserved public apology is received. Should no apology be received in what we consider an acceptable time, said nation will have no-one else to blame but itself for any repercussions.
Furthermore, I have been instructed by Holy Emperor Aviatora VII to announce that He is reconsidering our application to join the United Nations.
Also, I joyfully announce that The Holy Empire of Mortondiri has decided to leave for a new Region. Once a new Region has been confirmed (suggestions/invitations welcomed), it shall be announced here.
