Operation: FALLING DAGGER - Invasion of the Dem. Republic of the Congo
Tyrandis
12-11-2004, 19:54
The invasion of the Democratic Republic of the Congo had begun.
As one of the many nuclear powers in the world, the military-industrial complex of Tyrandis had an insatiable appetite for uranium mining operations, particularly because it had a two-fold benefit of aiding business and allowing the production of greater and more terrifying weapons of mass destruction.
The new TSSM-20 PHOENIX 4th-Generation strategic ICBMs in particular required great amounts of the precious element, as the terrible weapon wielded a payload of 23.5 MegaTons. The MIRV version of the PHOENIX had 12 independent warheads, each yielding approximately 1 MT.
While the military had reduced its consumption of uranium considerably, having switched from Depleted Uranium to amorphous metals in ammunition, this new demand created by TSTRATCOM (Tyrandis STRATegic COMmand) was simply too much for the territories of the nation to bear.
The Russians, while providing a good deal of uranium at a reasonable price thanks to the victory of the Militant Imperium over the Colodians, could not keep up with the demand. The only way Tyrandis could get her needed materials was through conquest...
And thus the rivers of blood were shed.
TNIA (Tyrandis National Intelligence Agency) analysis indicated that the "Democratic Republic" of the Congo was a perfect place to begin. Rich in vital uranium, the area was torn by civil strife and a major crisis. Ruled by an iron-fisted dictatorship, toppling the weak government would be as simple as signing the mobilization order.
However, the culture of Tyrandis preferred that diplomatic association be tested first. After all, the nation would much rather have her wants be satisfied peacefully, as spending blood and treasure was wasteful in the long run.
Unfortunately, the perfectly reasonable request to allow Tyrandisan companies to mine for uranium in the rich fields of the DRC in return for a generous portion of the profits were rejected by the government.
Task Force DRAGON, assembled originally to bluff the Sevarians into allowing Tyrandis a few bases in Delaware, thus had new marching orders: to take the capital and secure the Dem. Rep. under Tyrandisan control.
---
TSOCOM (Tyrandis Special Operations COMmand) SF operators had been establishing a rapport with the various paramilitary groups opposed to the dictatorship's rule, several months before the main Tyrandis landing force arrived. In return for their support in the conquest, they had been promised a voice in the new government. Tyrandis had no political interest in the blasted continent of Africa.
The plan was laid out over a course of months, and its execution was completed in little more than two weeks.
A declaration of war was issued duly, at the same moment the first warships of the navy entered Congo waters...

Phase I: The Annihilation of DRC Military Forces
H-Hour, D-Day
0600 - First Light
Off the coast of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the Tyrandisan 1st Fleet began to shell the coastal cities of Banana, Boma, and Matadi, with exceptional success.
16-inch shells from refitted Arizona-class battleships fell upon the hapless military garrisons there, blasting craters into the earth. Human and earthly debris rained from the air upon fleeing civilians, while the mercilless shelling continued.
Meanwhile, TSEB-52N Skyfortress ALCM platforms roared over, releasing thousands of Fasthawk Cruise Missiles at known Congo military bases. The powerful missiles roared through the air at Mach 3, before accelerating to Mach 7.8 at the final approach. The octagen warhead exploded at their targets, leaving behind blasted corpses of men and machines.
The guidance systems on a few failed, causing the missiles to blast off course and into the jungle.
Much like the world's shortest war, the 502nd Wolfpack of Aquadragon-class antishipping Ekranoplans unleashed volley after volley of SS-N-26C Yakhont cruise missiles at the ships in the harbor, sinking the few seaworthy vessels the DRC had. The vastly improved Soviet missiles homed in on their victims with LIDAR arrays, blasting them into the briny depths of the sea.
In a brilliant tactic gleaned from the mind of Moshe Dayan in the Six Day War, TSF-28A and B variant Seraph air superiority fighters with TSB-8Y Talon bombers destroyed what little airforce the DRC had on the ground, mostly outdated MiGs purchased from the former Soviet Union. Unlike most nations, the DRC had no protection against stealth technology, leaving them totally vulnerable to attack.
Two Foxbat fighters managed to limp off the airfields as 27mm Mauser fire and cluster munitions shredded their hapless companions on the ground.
"This is Crusader-Two-Seven, I've got radar contact on bogeys at 4’o clock,” warned one of the Seraph pilots, as the two Congo fighters tried to exact revenge against the Tyrandisan air force.
In response to this threat, the twenty fighters of Jackknife Squadron unleashed a payload of ten Kite QAAMs at the ancient Soviet planes.
The Kites came in at Mach 5, easily defeating the Foxbat’s primitive ECM systems. The pilots were doomed; the missiles closed in and blew them to smithereens, scattering their bodies across the stratosphere.
Now that the air force was down, the 22nd Airborne Division was prepared to fly in, just as the first landings of Tyrandisan troops took place…

OOC: Hey, I got my info from IH's thread. No one claimed it, and I needed uranium, so I figured I may as well invade.
Also, the CIA factbook states that the DR Congo is torn by civil strife. All I did was destroy the govt. forces, but there are still hostile militias out there (which are actually more dangerous than the regular army). If you want to RP as them, or stand in my way, feel free.
edit: Okay, if you're ignoring my post, why did you recognize Sevaris's attack? He had a two sentence long topic where he just overran Delaware.

The few DRC civilians who did not escape from the coastal towns watched in horror as Wasp-II and Tarawa-class amphibious assault ships advanced into view, while the crews on-board prepped landing hovercraft. While the Arizonas had ceased fire, the hulking battleships still had their guns trained on the shore, ready to receive fire missions from the ground troops.
Ten VTR-60L Battlehawk and five VTA-68 Lancer attack helicopters took off from the decks of the Tarawas, and moved through the clear skies, scanning the coastline for any stragglers the naval bombardment had missed.
"This is Paladin-One to Papa Bear, sector is clear," reported the Battlehawk squadron's lead helicopter to a E-2E Hawkeye AWACS patrolling the area.
"Roger that Paladin-One," acknowleged the communications officer onboard the plane.
The Lancers swooped down a bit closer, as they had better armor and weaponry, compared to the converted VTR-60s.
"Tango-Five-Seven to Papa Bear," radioed one of the VTA-68s, "I've got target contact at coordinate eight-two-Fox, bearing east. Request permission to engage." Evidently, a few DRC military forces had survived the onslaught and were retreating.
"Copy that Five-Seven. Tango and Paladin Squadrons, engage targets."
Roaring through the air, the helicopters' blades sliced through the air while Typhoon unguided rockets and AP cannon shells cut a swath of destruction into the retreating Congo soldiers.
The work was a turkey shoot; the Lancers and Battlehawks simply hovered around, raining death upon the hapless convoy.
"Hooah!" shouted a gunner as he unloaded on a BMP-2, which burst into flames after a single Inferno guided missile hit. Unfortunately for him, one of the surviving Congo forces had aimed a SA-9 Grail...
The Soviet missile raced through the air, and slammed into the tail section of the condemned Battlehawk.
"MAYDAY, MAYDAY!" screamed the pilot. "This is Paladin-Four, we're going down!" The chopper circled about several times, in its death throes, before crashing into the earth.
As soon as this setback occured, a SAR team was assembled. They moved to the crash site, and evacuated the body of the gunner and the seriously wounded pilot on-board a MH-53 Pave Low.
Finally, the beaches were secured, the helos having mopped up all resistance. Landing hovercraft unloaded hundreds of Merkava V MBTs, M-7 St. Christopher IFVs, and thousands of troops, all ready to conquer the totalitarian "Democratic Republic".
Now, a massive assault against the capital would begin, with Tyrandisan troops aided by friendly militias against the few government forces left...

Safehaven had a problem today. With Tyrandis's invasion of the DRC it put them within a stones throw of a good ally and thousands of Safehavenite troops positioned in his territory. This ally, Zarbia, had already been the victim of Tyrandian agression twice and a mve like this by Tyrandis could not be tolerated. If nothing was done it was asking Tyrandis to try their luck again with Zarbia. Diplomacy would be used but not till after theopening strike, right now Tyrandis held most of the cards except for one, surprise and that would be used to its full advantage. A formal decleration of war was out of the question to, again becouse of surprise and this wasn't planned to be a full scale war just a regional quick war to keep Tyrandis out of the DRC. If Tyrandis was bloodied enough in the opening strikes it was hoped they would see the light and accept a return to the way things were beforehand with peace on both sides. So the order was given, all Safehavenite forces in Africa were to be ready for war.
Atlantic Ocean
Their were two Safehavenite fleets based in Zarbian Africa and these went on alert. The fleets were relativly safe behind their AWAC's and ASW perimetrs and shore defenses built up over the months but the Tyrandians wouldn't have that.10 Seawolf subs along with a "merchant" ship were dispatched to get behind the Tyrandian fleet that was bunched up on the cost. Once they were their a wall of Jaw's heavyweight mines were deployed, 400 in total from a little bit south of Sao Tome down blocking the Tyrandians into the coast, not that they would no. Each mine turned on its own passive sonor and any Tyrandian or Tyrandian allied fleet ships(IDF) that came within 50 mls of these mines would be in trouble. And to add to it another 300 were scheduled to be deployed in a little over a day.
The main fleets would have one other major function today, but that would come later.
Airfields across Angola
The SU-52 was a recent addition to the Safehavenite airforce but it quickly grabbed the lead role and was now the main interceptor/fighter for the airforce. 200 SU-52's along with many other aircraft were based in Angola and all were armed and gassed up now. 100 SU-52's and 100 B-52's went up in the air to deal the first blow to the Tyrandians. The B-52's opened up their bomb bay door mere minutes after takeoff and let drop thier MALAS-2 missiles. 1,000 sped off and headed to the sea were they descended to just 3 meters. Each MALAS-2 missile then turned on their own heavy jammers to buy them a few minutes, not that they would ned more than one or two. Once they were 70 km from the Tyrandian ships the real killer was let out, the MALAS-2 capsules broke and 1,000 MT-2 torpedoes sped at 200knots bearing down hard on the Tyrandians. The SU-52's provided a CAP over northern Angola and the DRC that wasn't under Tyrandian occupation.
Atlantic
This was were the fleet came into play, they to launched MALAS-2 missiles but in such a way that they would hit about a minute after the air launched ones. 1,000 in all rose up from the ship and headed north following the same routine as their air laucnhed brothers.
Northern Angola
Out of the many divisions and tank brigades in Africa their were only 2 divisions on hand in Northern Angola, just north of Luanda. They would have to make the most of them though and they to had a part to play. Before the misile attacks had been laucnhed while things were still being prepared, 300 Gabriel's, 200 Smerch MLRS and 300 155mm guns were being spread out and hidden in the jungles and villages. Alot of Tyrandians were being landed and moving out on the beachs, more than these two divisions could handle head on so the arty would have to thin them out. Preperations were done by the time the misiles were launched and the artillary and MLRS systems opened up on the massed Tyrandian forces. Their wasn't really anything special about the Smerch's and 155mm guns but the Gabriels were special on the other hand. The Gabriels were the first to fire, they were a true work of art and something to be proud of. Firing 9 scramjet ONC rounds a minute, the shells would then accelerate to mach 6.5 on their way to their targets making each shell a true killer and destroyer. After 20 minutes the Gabriels and Smerchs switched positions and continued the bombardment. This would last for two hours then the artillary would be used to surport DRC and Safehavenite forces.
After the two hour's when the bombardment ended the 84th division stormed across the border and headed to Boma. 200 Badger tanks and 10,000 infantry would flank the city on each side, west and east, and cut off any Tyrandian forces inside the city while they hunted down any Tyrandians out of the city and tryed to push them into the sea. 20 Comanches and 30 Apaches took of to give the advancing troops close air surport while 24 F-18's flew in to pound the Tyrandian beachheads. The 87th division stood by on the Angolian side of the border and waited for things to develop before becoming involved.

These people have been repressed for too long and need to be given a taste of freedom."

"Ms. Ryan, I am sure that you know that if we were to invade, we could control a small sector and use it as a model for all others to model themselves after."
"Mr. Rhineheart, although I do advocate spreading democracy to the world, so many nations are involving themselves against Tyrandis." said Councilman James Smyth
"Enemies of liberty!"
"Be that as it may, this is too risky for our current political situation. I motion to declare neutrality on the issue of the Democratic Republic of the Congo."

Why would we want to endanger the lives of so many of our young men and women and our allies? It does not make sense, but what Tyrandis is doing is destabilizing Africa. Angola, the nation directly south of the DRC is under the control of our ally Zarbia who happens to have ben the victim of Tyrandian aggression twice over. What other long term purpose would Tyrandis have but to try their luck at Zarbia again with their new colony in Africa? Even if Tyrandis had a few other goals for the DRC I highly doubt that moving down south into Angola isn't one of them. Retaliation against Safehaven Forces
The bombardment was rather light, considering that the main Tyrandisan force had already advanced to the outskirts of the capital. The only soldiers in the area were logistical personnel and native contractors. A total of 2,560 personnel were KIA, while 4,205 were WIA.
On the other hand, the naval war was a bit more costly. The MINERVA Fiber-Optic Laser defense systems were quite effective at destroying the on-coming torpedoes, while an AEGIS perimeter successfully stopped a number of missiles hundreds of km away.
Unfortunately, even the best defense could not stop the sheer number of missiles launched, and caused two Ticonderogas and 3 Perrys to be sunk. The TSN Blade, an Arizona class, was badly damaged.
---
In response to this unprovoked aggression, TSATCOM (Tyrandis SATellite COMmand) had directed two Strategic Strike Platforms over the area.
The use of tungsten alloy InterContinentalKineticMissiles was a part of Tyrandisan military legend; in a former war, they had demolished the capital of Zarbia. Despite the best efforts of the Macabees, there was no escape from the rain of metal death from the skies.
The latest design of the SSP was the Damocles-class, a vastly upgraded version. Capable of unleashing total annihilation for over 40 sq. mi, they would exact vengeance for the fallen Tyrandisan soldiers and sailors...
A sum of 150 Rods From God moving at 36,000 feet/sec were launched from the deadly satellite platforms at the Haven artillery and troop positions, ascertained by Galaxyhawk UAV and RAVEN spy satellites. The airfields where the original air attack came from would be demolished by some 10 Rods launched at each.
Now that the ground forces were dealt with, the naval war would have to be won.
The Aquadragon AS Ekranoplans, the pinnacle of Tyrandis naval science, screamed towards the enemy fleet with SS-N-26C Yakhont ASCM missiles locked and loaded. The fleet contained some 180, each bristling with 30 of the deadly modified Soviet weapons.
At 300 km, the first 90 released their payloads in hi-low, while the others accelerated to 450 mph until they reached 150 km, the max direct fire range for the Yakhonts.
At such speeds, the ships were impervious to battleship and destroyer main gun fire. (OOC: No naval gun tracks that fast)
Also, the missiles were surrounded in a swarm of decoys, at a ratio of 1:1. Simply put, the Haven naval fleet was doomed.

We will not back down from our goals by your cowardly attacks. If it is war you want, then war you will get.
Again, Tyrandis has no ill intentions towards Zarbia or any other member of the RWC in Africa. Perhaps we could make a deal where a demilitarized zone can be established between Angola and our new territory.

Phase III: The Conquest
Despite the escalating tensions in the Area of Operations, the Tyrandisan forces pushed on, with Merkava Mk. V and M-7 St. Christopher IFVs rolling across the vast plains, accompanied by the 750,000 strong army deployed with them. Friendly militias and grateful civilians supplied the troops quite well, and ammunition was plentiful.
The Tyrandisan forces had advanced many miles, to the outskirts of Kinshasa. The government had basically collapsed, considering the incredible destruction that the infantry and armor divisions had inflicted.
A number of DRC officials were bound, gagged and sent to the Tyrandis base camp. They would be interrogated and tried on crimes against humanity later on.
The capital was declared an open city, and the coming troops began to restore order. A gold Hawk standard was raised on the capital building, and so Tyrandis had conquered the nation…
A starving populace was issued food and medical aid from C-130 Hercules drops. Distribution was secured with Tyrandisan soldiers. There would be no jockeying for power, not unless the ambitious individual in question wanted to eat lead for breakfast one day…
All that remained was disarming the few militant elements remaining, and consolidating power in the nation.

The corrupt, oppressive former regime of the Democratic Republic of the Congo has been toppled successfully by Tyrandisan forces at 1300 hours today. A copy of the surrender document has been attached to this dispatch.
Please, Tyrandis has no intentions of destablizing the area. We simply wish to mine peacefully for Uranium-238 in the rainforests.
If you request, observer teams from all parties will be allowed to monitor our administration. We have nothing to hide.

OOC: About the mines they were placed hundreds of miles North and West of were your ASW perimeter would be so I didn't ignore it.
How do lasers work under water?
IC:
Ground War
The Rods of Death wasn't totally unexpected as it had been used before but still it did its damage. The small offensive that had crossed the border was blunted within minutes and the casualties were reaching into the 12,000 range. The artillary didn't suffer as much as they were spread out and were moving about but still 234 different guns were destroyed. The worst part though was the airfields. 6 Airfields were put out of action to varing degrees. The number of aircraft destroyed wasn't to high as most were in UPH's but ground and surport crews got hit hard, people you don't hear to much about in the history books but a crucial part of any army. Operations out of those airfields was severly hampered for the time being but they weren't the only airfields in Angola.
Naval War
The AWAC's perimeter detected the incoming Ekranoplans moving in way before they fired. They'd never seen a ship move that fast a few precius seconds were lost in the confusion. A quick fix was thought up for the problem of speed, the KH-97-Kraven. A missile designed to engage SAM sites and radar from long range, moving SAM's and radar, it would do just fine killing these Ekranoplans homing in on their radar. A strike from land based F-35's was called in and 2 Kravens per Ekranoplan were launched. None of this sopped the fact that the Ekranoplans launched their own missiles, and the yakhont was indeed a great missile, though the AWAC's perimeter would greatly reduce this threat. With the AWAC's guiding them in SAM's from shore and from the ships were able to engage the first wave of missiles that came in. With over 300km to travel many were downed before they got to the fleet. The second wave was more of a problem but a cap of fighters was able to help downing hundreds more. Still the shear numbers caused it to be inevitable taht many would break thru. As they flew over the ASW perimeter the destroyers and smaller ships were able to direct fire with SAM's, Metal Storm and CIWS. When they reached the fleet the ships opened up with their own CIWS, Metal storm, more SAM's and Skysweeper MIL-5 laser defense system. On paper it should have been easy for the fleet to take them out but things never worked out that way in the real world. Many ships had many missiles targeting them, more than they could handle. Many ships went under, a Nimitz carrier included but revenge would be sweet.
The submarines attached to the fleet that hadn't been sent on the mining mission loaded up chock full on Tempests and headed out. they were 250mls from the Tyrandian fleet when they let loose the first spread of fish, 70 in all. A minute later another spread joined it and the subs fired one more time before getting a reload. The Tempests would give a Seawolf a run for their money when it came to being silent and they were going to prove that as they headed to their targets. They ran at 10 knots, a very stealthy speed, a little over a km down, below were anti-torp torpedoes could reach them and most other counter measures for that part. Once near the tyrandian ships they would shoot up at 70 knots and smash them from the bottom. The thing was though that if the tyrandians managed to pull a close in underwater defense system off and destroy the torps close in(Your laser which im assuming are short range) the torp would still do damage. The warheads are 6350 kg, big enough to vaporize frigates and break a carriers back. So destroying them with lasers would still cause much damage to the ships. To add to this another 900 MALAS-2 misiles were fired diving into the sea 75km out and heading in at 400 knots as torpedoes. The Tyrandians would be split between the MALAS-2 torpedoes and the real killers, the Tempests.
Air War, Havenite response
The Tyrandians had hit the aerial capabilites hard but they were far from shutting them down. The only air power Tyrandians would have would be naval forces and that wouldn't be enough to deal with the land based air power based thruout Africa. Added to this the only real SAM threat would be mobile and hand held, not as effective for the most part as emplaced positions and probaly not as numerous. Sat recon had a field day hunting for Tyrandian Radar and SAM positions and the KH-97 Kraven was going to make another apearence. The Kraven had a 200+ km range and had multiple guidance systems from TV to Lidar to GPS to active radar and others.
While the SU-52's kept air supieriority hunting any Helos and planes the Tyrandians would put up 24 F-35's moving in pairs each loaded with 10 Kravens went about destroying Tyrandis's SAM and radar capability over their army. After that another 36 F-35 went up loaded with KH-96 Kangaroos, RBK-1500 and even two Kravens. They also had a few AA missiles but not many as the SU-52's were to provide cover.

Again mving in pairs they were to attack Tyrandian units advancing thru the DRC.
In another modification of original use the Kangeroo was gonna get a special job. 6 F-35's were put in the air for one more mission, destroying all bridges over the Congo capable of vehicle traffic and they used the Kangeroos range to do it from the safety of Angola. Guiding the missiles in by TV they hoped to cut off the Tyrandian army from resupply and reinforcments.
Ground
Two batteries of Gabriels that had survived the Tyrandian attacked were quietly moved to the coast. They were well within range of the Tyrandian fleet which was off of the DRC coast and that would be their target. Opening up with AP ONC rounds the 42 guns guns started firing as fast as they could getting off 11 rounds a minute per gun. The guns had advanced targetting system and the rounds were guided in by laser( Its a rl tech, sed by the modern German army. Laser guider has to be wthin 10 miles). The ships were "painted" by men on the coast with laser designators and now the shells would rain in.
OOC: Im assuming your ships are within 10 miles of the coast if not then the attack still happened but without the laser designation making them a bit less accurate but stil pretty accurate.
Ill post total losses and such later.

OOC: Tyrandis. I did some massive research on your tungsten rod weaponry and I found out, through several sources, including several people who have doctorates in the area of Physics, that the damage done by a single Tungsten rod is severely limited.
The damage it does, as you well know, is through the sheer kenetic energy built up during the flight. However, a lot of the rod is lost during the entrance into the atmosphere, where the tungsten simply, burns up (at least small sections of it), which means that the tungsten rod launched is going to be smaller as it gets into the atmosphere. Once there, entering the terminal phase, its going to do damage - but nothing that is high explosive, or in any way strong enough to do damage to more than it hit. Consequently, it'll take out a building, but it wont take anything out sorrounding that building. Additionally, it will do damage to the structure of the building, but there is good chance that people inside will survive, unless a big steel support falls on their head.
You can also easily deflect the tragectory of the tungsten rod by throwing something in the way - wether that be a huge metal disk, or whatever you can. How you would do this? I don't know. But I'm sure, with the ingenuity some of us have around here, it will be invented.

OOC: True enough. ICKM weapons do suffer a bit of problems in burn-up/re-entry, but I prevent a good deal of it by coating the rods in heat-resistant materials, which manage to reduce the burn-up by quite a bit. Usually, a 25-foot rod I shoot from orbit will go down to about 20 ft.
Only morons use rods for anything except major infrastructure. The point of my attack against airfields and ground positions was to destroy staging points, particularly since Safehaven is opposing my conquest for no apparent reason.
I'd estimate casualties to range in the 5,000-7,500 mark.
Working on an IC post.
Edit: Actually... I've been thinking about welding a nuclear or conventional warhead to the rods. I'm not sure how the extreme speed involved would influence the uranium reaction, but suffice to say that such a development would give me enormous leverage against hostile nations ;)

Communication to Voderlund Forces: (Possible for listeners to intercept)
Authorization Code: Alpha Romeo 7 6 5 Bravo Zulu: Sudden Storm
72 Rail Guns located along the coast of Voderlund’s territory take careful aim, and begin launching anti-satellite weapons. With a cycle time of 19 seconds, it takes very little time for them to sweep the sky clear of Tyrandis orbital platforms. The first to die are the IKCM satellites. Meanwhile at 8 bases around the perimeter 16 Pegasus heavy lifters carry 16 Damocles Star fighters into orbit, where they patrol for their 48 hour endurance time, keeping the skies clear of enemy satellites. Satellites target the costal area of the DRC, looking with infrared, radar, and visual confirmation of the grouping of the Tyrandis fleet. All along Madagascar, B-4 heavy bombers are loaded up with weapons, taking off 3 hours after an armada of 1600 tankers.

OOC: Guys, I'm sorry, but I can't finish this RP due to RL concerns. I need to maintain my AP Calculus B-C grade (Finally got it to an A, but need to study badly for upcoming test or I'll lose it), so I'll have to put a hiatus on my major war RPs.
Basically, I'll be withdrawing my main forces, excluding a few humanitarian aid units. The new puppet govt. I've installed will answer directly to me, although the only real effect that my conquest will have is an increase in my uranium stockpiles and mining operations.
I'm really, really sorry about my sudden departure, but I hope you all can understand :(

Special Edition: The End of the War
"With the effective conquest of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, stocks on the TSX (Tyrandis Stock Exchange) rose sharply with an overall gain of $150.28. Kazordoon Mining Inc in particular gained 25%, up to the record level of $125.04. Analysts on the street are expecting a split of the stock soon.
Executor Xavier Davidson today declared an end to major combat operations in the DRC, as a new government has been established.
Walter Spiegel, a Congo expatriate and wealthy Tyrandisan businessman, has been invited to serve as an interim governor of the province.
Task Force DRAGON has returned home via ship and C-17 Globemaster transport. A total of 12,452 personnel have been marked at battlefield casualties, with 6,150 KIA.
The 1st Fleet, however, suffered equally grievous casualties, particularly with the loss of the TSN Blade, an Arizona-class battleship. A number of minor vessels and Ekranoplans were also destroyed in the war. Admiral Utada Hikaru has received the Distinguished Service Medal for her leadership through the battle.
At this point in time, a sum total of 25,500 humanitarian aid workers are operating in the DRC, providing vital food and medical supplies for the civilian population. All other Tyrandisan personnel have been evacuated. A number of C-130 Hercules transports are on a round-the-clock flight schedule, delivering the consumables to the Congo.
The former dictator of the Dem. Republic and his cronies have been indicted on crimes against humanity for their embezzelment of humanitarian funds, torture, and mass genocide. All two hundred were killed today by firing squad."
And so, the war in the Democratic Republic of the Congo ended, Tyrandis having acquired the vast uranium deposits which would produce so many weapons of mass destruction...

OOC: When you come back...
What type of coating do you add to the Tungsten rod? And adding a nuclear weapon on it wouldn't be any different from an orbital bombardment system that I use with my MAAM Orbital Bombardment Sattelite System. The tungsten rods are normally slim to make it faster, and easier to slip into the atmosphere. Adding a nuclear warhead to it will just increase the surface area, allowing it to burn up through the atmosphere... and adding more weight to the tungsten rod will just make it more unwieldy.
