Violence Errupts at NUSN/Botini Border

OOC: Details have been agreed to, by both nations.

The border between the Northern USN Republic and the small nation of Botini had always been the site of an uneasy peace and now that peace had broken. A soldier from Botini, at the border, had been cleaning his weapon when it suddenly fired. The NUSN Forces on the other side of the guarded border immediatly returned fire, beleiving a surprise attack had just begun on their nation. The small battle raged for over 2 hours, leaving 57 NUSN soldiers dead and 74 Botinian soldiers dead.

Word quickly reached Waterton, the capital of the NUSN. By the end of the day the NUSN Senate was drafting a decleration of war and forces were being put on guard through out the nation.

The decleration of war was quickly passed in the NUSN Senate. (93 - 7) NUSN Forces began to mass at the border, preparing to pour into the nation of Botini.

If this war comes to be one that Botini cannot win, we shall send forces to aid them. This war was caused by accident, and I shall see that Botini sees the justice that it deserves.

OOC: In other words, I'm supporting Botini.

10 NUSN F-117A Nighthawks took off from bases, which were several miles from the border. They were going to be the first official shots of this war. They were to target defenses which would slow down the ground war. The attack came as a surprise to Botini, as word of the official decleration had just arrived at their capitol. Each plane dropped 2 MK84s on their targets. The orange and red explosions lit up across the dark night as the planes quickly sped back to the NUSN.

Within minutes over 10,000 NUSN troops and 500 M3A3 Bradley Fighting Vehicle Systems had poured over the border. The war had begun.

The small Botini forces at the border were taken by surprise as the NUSN forces quickly bulldozed over their positions. An order was given for all forces to retreat. The force of 300 Botinian soldiers ran for cover. Once hidden they opened fire on the NUSN forces. Their M249 Light Machine Guns turned out to be very effective.

NSUN Forces were surprised at the intensity of the Botinian resitance. The gun battle at the border raged for 4 hours, until a small white flag was raised on the Botinian side. The surrendering soldiers were quickly thrown into NSUN transport vehicles and sent to a newly built compound for POWs. With this battle over NSUN forces continued their offensive.

Botinian BGM-109 Tomahawks began to launch from bases all over Botini. All in all, over 400 were fired at the NUSN. Minutes after being launched they began to rain down on cities across the NUSN.

The Botinian missiles proved to be effective and very deadly. In Waterton alone, an estimated 4000 civilians had been killed. The death and destruction proved to help Botini in many other ways. It had turned much of the public against the war and unrest had already begun to be seen throughout the city streets.

But the NUSN would not just take a strike on its citizens without responding. The order came to launch 500 NUSN AGM-142 Raptors at various strategic targets in Botini.

An order came out from the Gnereal, located in the fleet of battleships, to all Comatic fighters. They were to be mobilized and sent after the Raptors attacking Botini. They would probably fail, but they would occupy USN while reinforcements arrived.

The Botinian forces had been severly weakend by the NUSN missile strike. A major target of the NUSN had been communications systems and without those the Botinians could no longer effectivley fight the invader or gather intelligence. Chaos spread throughout the Botinian army as the NUSN forces continued to advance.

Rumors began to spread that the Prime Minister was preparing to surrender and begin peace talks.

The Botinian Parliament was getting nervous as word spread that the NUSN military was approaching Latham, the capitol of Botini. Explosions could be heard from inside the old building as the body began discussing a possible surrender. If they surrendered there was a chance they could escape with their life. The Parliament quickly voted, as the ground below them shook from explosions which were quickly getting closer and closer. And with 37 for the action, and 13 against it....the order was given. The fighting would end.

Yes. We beleive they would be very effective also. First topic we want to discuss is reparations. We beleive your nation should pay the NUSN $7.6 Billion (USD). This would be used to repair damage caused by your missiles to our cities. It also would pay for the cost of mobilization. Do you have a figure you would like us to pay and do you agree to this number?

Didn't that happen in the "peace" talks with us? Peace still hasn't been fully accepted between the former USN and Random Kingdom, only existing because of a broken and frayed treaty drawn up by RK itself. I know I should stop butting in, but...

Shouldn't the NUSN pay back some cash to Botini to pay for their part in this conflict?

Because Botini is reletively small, we will wire 4 billion USD to Botini for damages to their nation. Also, 1 billion USD shall be wired for medical expenses.

We agree with both those terms. POWs from your nation will be sent to your capitol on a commercial airliner from the capitol of the NUSN. Now we would like to discuss land. We beleive the NUSN "won" this war, because your nation surrendered. We beleive the victor deserves a prize. We want 40% of your land. Specifically, Southern Botini...which is on our current border. We think this is a very generous offer, because if you were to reject it and the peace talks break down we could continue the war and take 100% of your land.

This is unfair to Botini, and if NUSN forces continue this war, we will be pulled in. I thought that with the demise of Mills' government all the madness would stop. Seems Random Kingdom were wrong...

40%!? We will give no more then 35%. We beleive this is a good offer. It would move your current border, which is 400 miles from Latham, to roughly 50 miles from Latham. Your plan would overlap Latham. We do not want to move our capitol, as it always has been our capitol and the birthplace of our nation.

Very generous indeed. And if this war should continue, then our forces would return in all their entirety.

I agree that you should take some land, but only a small fraction. 5 or 10% would make more sense.

The NUSN government is feeling very generous today. We will only take 30% of your land, instead of the original 40% proposed. We will also be creating a DMZ at the new border.
