Earlier this morning a large section of the Antarctic ice shelves broke off and floated into the pacific. The ice shelf was over 7 thousand square kilometers. Prior to the collapse and breaking of the ice shelf there were loud explosions along the edge of the shelf along with bright flashes of light. The Venom Corporation, which is currently funding a research expedition into the Antarctic, denies any foul play on behalf of the Venom Corporation.

Several environmentalist web-sites were quick to condemn the Venom Corporation, citing various reports that the corporation is searching for mineral deposits.

"Accusations that we intentionally destroyed the section of ice are completely untrue. Our presence in the Antarctic is purely for research." - VC Press Secretary, Jason Phillips

Why would it be the Venom Corporation's fault?

Several sources have highlighted the Venom Corporation as the responsible party for a recent environmental disaster in the Antartic region. The recent collapse of a very large ice shelf is now under investigation. The sources insist that the VC is blasting and drilling for both oil and minerals, and that the ice shelf was destroyed on purpose to uncover a possible oil deposit.

The VC has denied the claim and asked for the arrest of the sources spreading the lies.

Has it been fully proven that VC is reponsible for this disaster?

If the VC is responsible for the collapse in the iceshelf what sort of actions legally could be taken against it to prevent such further enviromental disasters?

OOC: I think that the region intimately involved with this problem is the Icy Lands of Antarctica.
IC: Moontian satellites in polar orbit have confirmed the iceberg is heading roughly northwest. Depending on the currents and winds, the iceberg might reach New Zealand in a week.
In other news, Moontian has started the evacuation of its citizens off Earth, to the other colonies within the Solar System. The satellite network and defence will continue to function, including the study of the ice cap instability.

An independent group has found that the Venom Corporation is indeed responsible for the collapse of the 7 thousand kilometer section of ice. The VC's chief operation's official later confirmed it, "Fine, we admit that it was our fault. But, what can any of you do? We will do it again if we need to."

So far, no charges have been filed.

"The Canadian Tundra condemns the actions of the Venom Corporation, and although we ourselves have often caused enviromental damage in search of resources, we also realize that such utter disregard for the enviroment is severely dangerous, and that such actions threaten the whole international community. We request that the nation from which Venom Corporation hails take actions against the Venom Corporation to ensure that such acts are not repeated in the future."

Moontian, on behalf of the Icy Lands of Antarctica, has filed a lawsuit against Venom Corporation on the charge of trespass. "The only people allowed on Antarctica are either those citizens of our region, or legal visitors who arrive through our air and seaports. Since the employees of Venom Corporation did not do so, they were on the continent illegally."
