This should minimize any possible accusations of godmodding.

Due to the fact that we are an interstellar republic, our armies must operate in nearly inumerable types of planetary conditions, against an unknown number of different types of alien species. To send soldiers equiped for battle on one type of planet to battle on unknown alien terrain, against an unknown alien foe, would be suicide. Powered armor is no longer is a novelty, it is a neccesity. The powered armor currently being researched gives our troops the ability to survive in a far wider range of enviorments than before, even planets with unsafe atmospheres. In addition to that capability, the new armor will give soldiers greater strength, speed, and even the ability to fly short distances. Todays battlefields demand more of soldiers than ever before, and this armor will ensure that they will be able to meet those demands, with power, and energy to spare.

-Warp Gate Energy Cannon Network (WGECN)____(12/25)
Our most costly, and time consuming development project, when completed will the one of the most powerfull super weapons in the galaxy. The network utilizes nearly all of our technology, from our warpgates, to our space fleet. What makes this system so deadly, is the fact that it will be able to strike without giving away its location, greatly extending its life span. (The rest to be typed up at a later date.)

-Stealth "Cloaking" Technology_________________(8/8)
The modern battle field of space is a far more deadly place than even the SciFi's of old may have projected. WMDs have reached a guagantuan scale, and entire fleets of ships can be wiped out with in seconds. As a result of this chillingly efficient, and quick destruction, the Eshirian High Command issued a contract to various defense industries for a Stealth system capable of "Cloaking" vessels up to the size of the Largest Captiol ships of the time. (About 6Km in length, 3 Km in width, and about 2.5 Km in height.) Since then, all ES vessels have been equiped with some manner of "Cloaking" device, greatly increasing their survivability on the battlefield. However, the enormous power drain of these sytems, significantly decreases the weapons power, and the duration that the vessel can remain in midjump, thereby also decreasing it's range. The duration at which the vessel can remain stealthed is also rather limited. (About 10 minutes, with no weapons fire and no FTL drive activation) Even with such drawbacks however, the ability to dissapear at will is invaluable nonetheless.

Current construction projects:
-Base Station for the WGECN on secret location__(15/15)
The constuction effort taking place to lay down the complex base structures, and planetary infastructure required for the WGECN. Location is classified, although rumors speak of the amazing ability to "Phase cloak" the entire planet on which the cannons are being built. Such Rumors have not been confirmed however.

-Orbital Defense Grid_________________________(15/15)
This is the basic repertoire of planetary defenses from Orbital batteries, to Listening outposts. About 30 orbital batteries have been contructed around the Homeworlds, and around 15 have been built in the outer colonies. Listening outposts however, rely on a revolutionary new power source that allows them to stay "cloaked" for up to 5 days. Details have not been released, however, there have been reports of strange symptons among the crews of stations that have remained in Quantum shift (The process behind the Stealth capability) for extended periods of time.

-Interstellar Defense Grid_____________________(25/30)
The Interstellar Defense Grid is the first attempt the Sovereignty has taken to truely secure it's borders. Numerous automated beacons have been placed along the outer borders of the colonies, and thousands of maned checkpoints have been established all along areas of strategic and tactical importance. The very latest in sensor and defense technologies have been incorperated in these checkpoints although our borders still remain rather vulnerable. That will all change once the WGECN has been established, however.

This is your basic FTL drive. Not much more can be said.

-Cybernetic interfacing___________________(3/3) COMPLETED!
Utilizing new advances in cybernetics, certain R.O.K. craft have been outfitted with experimental Cyber interfacing. it is cyberetics in one of its most primitive forms. A special band, outfittined with sensors that monitor brain activity in specific regions of the brain, is placed around ones head. It is connected to a computer designed to read certain brain patterns, and execute a preprogrammed action. After some training, a vehicle can be piloted in a limited fashion using this interface. Advantages include being able to free up ones hands in the cockpit, and slightly faster reaction time for a manuever. No more waiting for the signal to make the long path down the entire arm before action takes place.

Every interstellar society needs a quick, efficient, and safe way to reach anywhere in its vast territory, and the Eshierian Sovereignty is no exception. A network of warp gates helps civilian ships travel more quickly and efficiently to where ever they might need to be headed. This also frees up ship designers in the respect of propulsion, and other areas, such as power systems. Now, not all ships need onboard FTL drives, which can be a major drain on energy reserves.

-Matter Energy Conversion Supply Depots______(6/6) COMPLETED!
Using new advances in the manipulation of matter and energy, these new depots serve as a safe, and space effective way to store resources for future use. Any material can dumped into the massive converters, where it will be held in suspended transporter animation. Materials can be held in this state for about 200 years, before they begin to break down. The advantage here is that, by storing resources in energy form, we can determine what form it will be in when it rematerializes, allowing us to change nearly any matter into almost any other form. In this respect, they can also serve as mass industrial replicators. About 70 of these stations are built on every planet currently claimed by the Eshierian Sovereignty.

A network of trading staions have been constructed through out our vast space, obviously facilitating trade, but also serves as symbols to our great free economy, and our openness to the outside world. Trading stations include several onboard MECs as well, making it less likely that we'll find ourselves short on materials to trade.

(Argh, the name is so LAME it's almost not even funny...)
Thanks to new advances in chemical research, the Republic of Kyanges is pleased to announce its newest weapon, Gamma Acid. The typical ph scale reaches 14 on either end; however, this new formula will dissolve even the ph tester. There is nearly nothing that can withstand this new acid, and nearly nothing that can neutralize it. This new shell is effective against vehicles and troops. Aircraft, and even missile can be affected, as this acid can be sprayed in a deadly cloud that will seriously damage anything that passes through it. Silent, quick, and invisible on nearly all spectrums, this is truly a terrible weapon of mass destruction.
Containment of this powerful acid is achieved through specially designed containers that utilize a system of fans and heaters that keep this acid in a gaseous state.

Once again, just for legitimacy.

National Defense System
The Republic of Kyanges now announces that its own National Defense System (NDS) system has finally been put into place! The technology to make this possible was provided by:

-New Exodus
-Upper Xen

The NDS is a layered defense system designed to be able to intercept missiles in the following phases:

-Booster
-Midcourse
-Apogee
-Terminal

Interception at booster phase and mid course is made possible through Air borne Laser Systems on board modified aircraft. The aircraft used by Kyanges is the An-225. The sheer lifting power of the An-225 coupled with new smaller, lighter lasers have made it possible to place two laser systems on each plane. With two lasers, and additional equipment to manage the extra one, the T/ND-225s are far more capable in intercepting missiles than the single laser on modified 747s previously used. In addition, high powered ground based laser systems fire can upon a space based mirror that will redirect the beam at the missile or any other target.

The mirrors can adapt to atmospheric turbulence, which can weaken and scatter the laser's beam. This turbulence is produced by fluctuations in air temperature (the same phenomenon that causes stars to twinkle). The adaptive optics rely on a deformable mirror, sometimes called a rubber mirror, to compensate for tilt and phase distortions in the atmosphere. The mirror has 341 actuators that change at a rate of about a 1,000 per second. Specs on the laser itself are classified.

Interception at apogee is achieved through the same orbital laser network described above.

Terminal interception is also achieved through the space based network. The ground based lasers can also be directed to directly fire upon the missiles instead of the orbital mtrrors. Terminal defenses such as Patriot missiles are also employed in this stage.

All Kyanges aircraft are also equiped with a Point Defense Laser which can also be employed against missiles. However, the PDL has a rather low power rating and only has about 70% success rate.

All components are linked and controlled through a computer network of 20 quantum computers, which provide far more than enough computing power to manges all the systems and track hostiles.

The components are listed:
-300,000 Patriots (PAC-3) stationed around the nation
-120 ground based laser systems stationed around the nation.
(Firing rate of about 6 shots per minute, thanks to bubble fusion technology provided by Sileeltris and indiginously developed direct heat to electricity coversion technology.
-120 orbital mirrors (one for each laser) Geostationary orbit
-Fleet of 300 N/TD-225 ABLs
-20 quantum computers networked together control this system

The Kyanges NDS, with all the components linked, has a nearly 100% success rate. However, decoys can lower this rating dramatically.

Particle Cannon System
The Republic of Kyanges is also pleased to announce that its Particle Cannon Construction Project (Project "Final Glory") has been completed!

The new particle cannons offers the ROK a new, clean, efficient, but deadly form of destruction across all battle fields, from underground to space and possibly beyond. Using ground based Particle Generation and Emmition (P/ Gen/Em) Stations around the country, the cannons can be fired all across the globe through a network of orbiting mirriors in space.

At the moment, 120 (declassified number) cannons are operational throughout the nation in secret underground facilities. Any enemy hoping to find where the stations are though, would be hard pressed. This is due to the fact, that the location from which the beams that leave the ground are not the same location where the P/Gen/Ems are. Through a network of subteranian redirection stations, the beam can be redirected, or even stacked with other beams to any emmiter location, leaving the enemy with no way to know from what station the beam came from, nor the postion of any station.

Even looking for the emmiter stations would do no good. As there are an uncounted number of them, more than enough to allow all the cannons to be fired at the same time.

Further advances in holographic technology will soon make finding these cannons even more daunting in the future.

R&D has begun on a new heavy MBT for the ROK Army.
No details have been released, but sources say that the commision formed to lead the design competition is looking for a vehicle with a heavy laser main armament, the capability to hover for short distances, and the ability to engage and destroy high flying aircraft and missiles.
Sources also say that the project has been named "Project Arc Light"

Ick, direct fire energy weapons don't work for MBT main-guns, you'll be beaten hands-down on range by conventional guns that can fire in ballistic arcs. About the only armoured vehicle that would benefit from an anti-tank direct-fire only weapon would be an assault gun.

OOC: Gamma Acid... uhm, any base will eventually neutralize any acid, given sufficient quantity of the base.

And if it dissolves everything, it's a useless weapon as it would disintegrate the container, the sprayer, everything. Including the planet it was used on.

Finally, something carrying it hit with an EMP or like weapon would succumb to its own acid, as the fans and heaters would turn off.

I'm aware that any acid can be neutralized given enough base, but what I meant was that it would not be neutralized before it did its job, and also note, that I did say "nearly" nothing.

@GMC Military Arms:
Ballistic arcs...we do have conventional artillery backing these things up. Paladin Howitzers, those cancelled Crusaders that we've(And a host of other people) ressurected. Air support is not guarenteed, but it is there, plus we've never really meant these tanks to be able to engage targets at that long a range. But now that you mention it, we could make the conventional gun the main armament and have whatever directed energy weapons we'll use as secondary weapons. Tertiary (sp?) weapons will be machine guns on the turrets and other anti-infantry weapons.

Ummm, I have a question reguarding this thread here.

I noticed some other people continually post updates in their R&D/Construction threads, (Like they always bump it with "Uberguns (12/20), from (11/20)" each day.) Now, I get the feeling that that cuts down on the possibility of godmod accusations, more so, than how I'm currently doing my R&D/Construction thread, where I simply update it. (Obviously, this makes it more likely I could have simply added something today, and try to pass it off as if I've been spending the longest time on it.) I haven't done this, but I'm feeling like some nations might say that I did. The ideas that I have, I don't want to have passed of as godmodding. So I was wondering whether or not I should start adding extra posts as upadates, rather than just updating the main post. Opinions?

What makes this system so deadly, is the fact that it will be able to strike without giving away its location, greatly extending its life span. A remote planet has been covered with healthy mix of small energy, and projectile cannons. These cannons all fire into a large orbiting stargate type structure, which opens a wormhole conduit in almost any location. The advantage of this, is that it will be quite difficult to locate, which should in turn, increase its lifespan, before some goes an blows the planet to h3ll. (Hopefully)

Another advantage of this is, that there weapons will be able to "Stack" their fire through the same wormhole, combining their beams, into a sort of super ray. Note, this is NOT one big super gun, but rather a massive collection of smaller guns all concentrating their fire into one spot. I this case, a wormhole, which will open up where ever its target is.

The fact that this isn't one big gun further adds to some advantages to this. There is no one flaw that will lead to the destruction of the whole weapon. It's made up of many smaller weapons, that concentrate their fire. You'll either have to destroy all the guns, or all the planets that have been converted into the gun platforms, which are quite a few. The fact that they fire through a wormhole should make them quite hard to locate as well, which stated above also should make this weapon quite deadly, since you can't really launch a counter attack, against it. Unless of course, you RPed your agents getting its location, and then striking.

Also, a unique aspect of this weapon lies in it's use of the wormhole to strike targets. Our own ships use wormholes to travel at FTL speeds. The wormholes they generate can reach hundreds of light-years away. This is where it might get tricky for some, but, because our weapon also uses a worm hole, as do our ships, they can actually link their wormholes in a sort of line, allowing for almost, and I stress, almost unlimited range. The ships, actually act as a sort of recommunication station, strengthening the wormhole once it reaches its maximum safe distance, and allowing it to continue on. The only problem of course, is actually getting ships to whatever distant planet we happen to want to destroy. That and making sure they stay there long enough for the wormhole to be established. This is part of the balance, which I'm trying to incorporate, to keep this weapon from being a complete godmod. It'll eliminate the possibility of me going off and claiming I can destroy anyone's home world through my use of the previously mentioned "Wormhole chain", among other things...
With how far away my weapons are from anyone's planets, I'll actually have to RP getting my ships to them to be able to open up a stable conduit for this weapon to provide support.

The weapon, without assistance from our ships linking their wormholes to extend its range, will have a range of about 900 light-years. After that, the station does not have enough power to control where, and when the wormhole opens, risking our own worlds of it attempts to fire outside that range. Currently, only the power plants on the various worlds that have been converted into massive firing platforms have been completed. The actual guns are still being constructed.

General Description: Talon Operators are skillfully trained in the fine arts of espionage and infiltration as well as close, and long range combat. Talon Operators are typically trained from their infancy for nearly 18 years, undergoing ruthless physical conditioning and techno-psychological instruction. When added to their advanced weapons, and state-of-the-art Extreme Combat Suit, Talon Operatives are among the most terrifying and deadly soldiers to ever have taken the field.


The Suit: The E.C.S. is special suit that can draw power from two sources. First, two simple power cells on their backpack unit supply power to the main systems of the E.C.S., both cells alone are capable of powering the suit’s systems and act as back up units to the other. The second power source is the most revolutionary for our troops, the power of the mind. Each trooper has been trained to utilize their psionic energy to augment their strength speed, and senses. In addition, when coupled with a certain piece of special equipment, our soldiers can actually gather their psionic energy into an energy blade generator modified to use psionic energy, allowing the soldier to create a blade of psionic energy capable of slicing through most targets, armored and biological with ease. The strength of this blade is limited only by the wielder’s experience in manipulating their psionic energy.

The following is a quick rundown of the basic capabilities of our Talon Operators through the integration of their formidable psionic powers and the E.C.S.

Cloak
The most unnerving of a Talon trooper’s skills is the ability to cloak them-selves from enemy detection. This 'invisibility' has earned the Talon Corps a fear-inspired reputation for their mysterious battlefield tactics. This power is made possible through the E.C.S. and their psionic energy. Utilizing their amazing mental powers allows Talons to bend light around them, while the E.C.S.s power cells and onboard computer assist in assuring precise light distortion, and efficient use of available psionic energy. While certain Thermal and Laser sensors can defeat this, an Operator typically does not stay around long enough for a thorough scan. The time an operator can remain cloaked once again depends on the experience level of the user, however, the typical time span is approximately 10 minutes.

Psionic Sight
The Talon E.C. Suits are outfitted with special visor goggles which, when combined with the Soldier’s own psionic abilities, allow them to see things through infrared energy. With Psionic Sight, Talons are able to activate a "heat-sensing ocular function" that allows them to see units through walls or footprints that have recently been left on the floor. Other capabilities among the more experienced Operators include the ability to simply sense the presence of other objects and beings nearby.

Psionic Speed/Strength
Talon Operatives are trained from their infancy to channel their psionic energies to augment their natural physical strength and endurance. This training, along with special enhancements in their Extreme Combat Suits, such as the standard addition of powered joints, allows Talons to move at seemingly supersonic speeds, and fight with nearly superhuman strength.

Psionic Shock
More experienced Talon Operators have a non-lethal psychic attack that augments their already efficient and highly deadly repertoire of close-range combat abilities with an attack that increases their versatility in the field. They can sneak up behind a sentient opponent undetected and briefly shock their brains into unconsciousness, resulting in a sort of lost-time phenomenon. The enemy will wake up a few seconds to minutes later depending on the power of the shock delivered dizzy, and unaware of what has happened.


The standard ranges of implants are also covered.
-Ocular implants enhancing sight, and increase resistance to blinding bright lights and other damaging weapons, such as laser dazzlers.
-Implants in vital organs allow for unprecendented clarity, and speed in diagnosing injuries that may need immediate attention.

RMP-320/A2 Multi-Purpose Gauss Rifle
The RMP-320/A2 is the main Talon weapon, and the successor to the old standard 25mm RA-110 Canister Rifle used by the typical Talon is upgradeable. The weapon has three main functions: sniper mode, grenade launcher, and assault rifle. For each of these modes, there are various types of ammo and powerups.

-Sniper Mode
In sniper mode, Ghosts are able to zoom in on an enemy from far away. The scope reveals different information on the target: health info, range, etc. It will also tell you whether the target can be Locked down.

-Grenade Launcher
With Grenade Launcher mode activated, Talons are able to lob grenades out of the modified gun. There are different grenade types:
--EMP grenade: Capable of disabling most enemy shields.
--Flash grenade: Causes a wide burst of light which can temporarily blind in the initial burst, followed trailing white lights,
--Hellfire grenade: breaks up into multiple explosives which track heat sources and explode.
--Irradiate grenade: emits powerful radiation that will deeply wound biological units.
--Lockdown grenade: Capable of disabling most mechanical units and structures.
--Sticky grenade: can stick to enemies or can be shot at objects or walls to hit enemies passing by.

-Assault Rifle Mode
The C-20A can be quickly modified to Assault Rifle mode, in which enemies can be rapidly capped at point blank range.

FWGS Combat Pistol
An energy gun that shoots small energy bullets. Used for light combat and single targets. This weapon is specially modified to be able to accept the immensely powerful psionic energies of the Talon user to fire a massively powerful burst of energy. The gun can also simply charge up for a while from its regular power cell to achieve the same effects albeit with a longer down time between charged shots which the psionic method eliminates through the extra energy provided by the user. Note, the psionic method does cause extra mental strain on the user, although more experienced users suffer far less mental stress.

Perdition Flamethrower
Regular troops commonly utilize these powerful, arm-mounted and plasma-based Perdition Flame Throwers. The flame throwers cause considerable damage to any target caught within the stream of plasma fire. The Talon version, like all other equipment used by the Talons is modified to accept psionic energy to either power the weapon or simply augment the onboard power cells.
