Following recent revisions to the Lasatanian Air Force, four squadrons of Tupolev Tu128 Fiddler fighter aircraft are to be withdrawn from service. Rather than scrap these aircraft, Lasatania has decided to place them up for auction. These aircraft have been maintained in excellent condition and were making routine flights until one month ago. Lasatania shall retain one extra squadron for spares, testing and training.
The starting price of this lot is $30M. Bidding shall end at 5pm on the 12/11/2004.
Furry dice will be thrown in extra. In addition, all aircraft shall receive one year of free servicing by LAF technicians.

OOC: Remember this is an auction, so other bids may come in (I remember receiving silly money for two squadrons of old bombers once before...)

OOC: Not meant as a insult to anyone but..You do know that the Fiddler is obsolete, even in modern terms, don't you?

OOC: Well, its not totally obsolete, just a bit 'specialised', I mean the Russians didn't withdraw them until 1992.. and I've only just withdrawn mine since I've introduced a new ultra-long range fighter to replace them in the same role... given that some air forces still fly MiG-21s, its the same kind of thing..

OOC: A bit debatable that. The radar's showing it's age (50's vintage) as are the missles. I think the main reason why the Russians didn't retire them sooner were a combination of cost and lack of a effective replacement.

OOC: Well, it'd be easy enough to do a refit on the avionics, radar and missiles, I might just throw that in..

OOC: This is what I'm replacing it with

I know they are obsolete, but they are fine for Trainer aircraft. Also No one was bidding, so why not get some extremely cheap Trainer planes?

<bumpity bump... hmm, they could be used for bomber/large aircraft training... that is a point... the LAF is keeping four aircraft to train potential LAS-XF4 pilots..>
