Having used the Akula class of submarine successfully as a patrol submarine for a number of years, the Ruling Council has ordered Lasatanian Heavy Industries to commence construction work on a fleet of 20 new submarines, the Ernst Class, for use both in a cruise missle carrying or patrol role.

Trials of a test submarine have been taking place in waters of Nerstein Harbour naval base and are set to finish shortly.

Technical details of the vessel are as follows:

Displacement (tons): 5,800-7,700 surface

8,200-13,000 submerged

Speed (kts): 20 knots surfaced

31-35 knots submerged

Operating Depth: 1,475 feet Maximum

Safe Depth: 1,804 feet

Never-Exceed Depth: 2,160 feet

Crush depth: Currently uncalculated


Dimensions (m): 111 meters long

12 meters beam

8.4 meters draft


Propulsion: One LHI-DTX23 reactor

200 MWt pressurised water reactor

turbines of 43,000 shp

Crew: 50 [24 officers / 26 enlisted]

Weapons: 8 VLS tubes for cruise missiles

8 25.6 inch torpedo tubes




Pre-production orders for these vessels are currently being taken and a unit cost of around $1.2bn a ship is expected.

OOC: See, that's the joy of having a State Defence industry... you can design products then build them for both yourself and for sale.. that way you keep your military in relatively cheap kit and also you rarely have to pay for outside materials...

but I came into quite a bit of money, so I figured I would spend on some new stuff and get rid of the old. Blacktower is going through a complete revamp of its military.

well Blacktower beleives that it has sufficient Aircraft for the time being. However we will keep you in mind when we finish stocking our Aircraft carriers. They are only about half full at the momeny unfortunatley.

(ooc: Lasatania, would it be to much to ask you to check out My Army, Navy, and Airforce and let me know if everything seems ok? Im having trouble getting opinions :headbang:)

OOC: I'm not the person to ask really, given that I don't go betond batallion level and haven't even worked out what the hell my ground troops carry on them in terms of small arms... :D
