Praise the Imperium, we have found a suitable exploitation site. The planet lies several billion lightyears to the Galactic NW from Novaya Zemlya, and seems to be at the very tip of the galaxy. Beyond this point, there is nothing but the empty void of the trans-galactic waste. Indeed, we seem to be on the opposite side of the galactic disc from the Magellanic Clouds.

The site seems to be inhabited solely by primitives who know not the words of our Gods, or of any civilised gods. As such, we are attempting to make contact, prior towards classifying them into either Class D peoples. They are a strange breed, with a single body that tapers down into a single well-developed pseudofoot. One would say that they remind one of old Earth slugs, but this is disproved by their strange upper-body configuration, which is much like the top half of a man, yet with several arms. Each seems to have 4 compound eyes, one on each side of their strangely cubical heads, and one fanged mouth from which the most frightful sounds emerge.

However, much like slugs they have demonstrated a distinct weakness to Sodium Chloride in large quantities. Should they prove troublesome, extirpating their entire race would be a simple matter.

The mineral resources of this planet have proven to be rich beyond our wildest dreams, and one recommends that the Trading Coster and DMC be informed immediately. We have started work on a base camp which we have named, with suitable deference, Alexandria, after our glorious Prince.

The only other thing remaining to report is the unusual characteristics of the planet's moon, which seems to have a high iron content. It stares down at us like a giant red eye, and lightning seems to spark across its surface. I will be sending an expedition to it immediately.

With faith and duty,
Captain Bazin

"And, sir?" The Inquisitor asked, yawning slightly.

"That was the last we heard from them," the Admiral said, writing something in his notepad.

"Oh, please... things like this happen all the time. We should just cut our losses and let go of it," the Inquisitor replied, rubbing one of her rings thoughtfully.

"We can't. The mineral resources of that planet would power the Imperium for years to come. Your orders are simple, and have been counter-signed by the Patriarch. You and your team are to travel to the base, and investigate the incident. If the natives turn out to be responsible, your orders are to render their species extinct."

"But of course... all been done before," the Inquisitor sighed. The galaxy really had no idea how inconvenient it was to its inhabitants. "And if it isn't the natives?"

"Find what it is. Understood?"

"Yes sir."
