Tharra Goes Nuclear!

It had only been less than nine years after the Stalinist revolution. All was quite in Tharra, and the nation was still in the midst of its second Five Year Plan. While the First Five Year Plan had been a major sucess, indeed it had reached its goals of industrializing the nation 400% and turning it into a full Stalinist state, the second FYP was much more mysterious.

However, while the nation was quite and few knew what to expect from the Party's new economic planning, they were about to find out...

Early in the mouring of July 28, 9 AR (After Revolution), there was a rally in the Red Square by both Party and military. This was not unusual, for rallies and propoganda parades happened daily; this one happend to simply be more important because it was the 9th anneversary of the July Revolution.

Comrade Ilya Lekov, the nation's leader, than appeared in the Red Square on a podium. All was quite as he recited his usual speech, and then swirved to a new topic...

"...for today I, your leader, announce to you that our departed comrade Stalin would indeed be proud. I have just recieved word that one of the two main points of the second Five Year Plan has been completed one year ahead of schedule. Today, the People's Commissars of Science and Technology released their official statments to the Politburo. And comrades, I can tell you that Tharra, our glorious motherland, has just gone Nuclear! That's right, with our mighty reserves of plutonium, neptunium, uranium, and actinium, we have devolped our first nuclear weapons."

There was a deafening chear in the crowd as everyone realized all had gone as planned. The band soon struck up the national anthem, "The Internationale" soon after. However, while these mindless masses celebrated, there were other thoughts on the Nomenklatura's (the highest Party officials) mind.

The Politburo was already reaching the end of their long war waged against independent agriculture, and soon, all farming would be collectivised, this would then officially complete the second FYP. All that now remained for comrade Lekov to do was order the KGB to initiate the Great Purges.

OOC: I am in NO way trying to hint at any n00b "nuclear war" (I have been playing NS for a year, so I am also in no way a n00b), I simply wish to use nuclear devolpment to show my nation's modernization.

Consul Adamant expresses his congratulations. He feels it necessarry, however, to qualify those congratulations with the strongest reccomendation to pursue your nuclear program toward peaceful uses of nuclear power, which could make power around your country very cheap and environmentally friendly! The Consul does not wish for this message to be interpreted as anything other than a simple suggestion mixed in with the strongest heartfelt congratulations. Thank you and have a nice day.
