Shalrirorchia

Vice-President Dean, acting as the head of state while President Tarumigan Gistarai recovers from gunshot wounds, spoke today at a rally cheering the victory of the Democratic Party in Shalrirorchia's congressional elections.
"We thank you, Shalrirorchia!" Dean said, holding his thumbs up in front of a crowd of about 25,000. Behind him were Senators-elect Donovan and Carlisle, both from the President's party.
"We believe that the voters have spoken. Four veteran Republican senators have been unseated. We believe that this is a mandate from the people to carry out President Gistarai's policies." Dean added later.
The President's Democratic Party soundly defeated the more conservative national Republican Party, increasing the Democratic margins in the Senate to 60 seats out of 100, and 122 seats out of 200 in the House. Many see the win as a victory President Gistarai's liberal platform, including national health care, gay rights, and a stronger international presence in the world.
Senator Edward Wright, widely seen as a potential rival for the presidency in the upcoming presidential elections, commented on his party's defeat. "We will not allow this temporary defeat to deter us. We will bring morality and strength back into Shalrirorchia!"
Dean, however, had a caustic response ready. "There's nothing moral about denying people the right to enter loving, committed relationships just because they happen to be the same gender. Senator Wright is just trying to push his neocon beliefs off on other people. The USS will not stand for it."
