Assassination of Megas High Council

He glided quickly across the cool, grassy lawn, each footstep sure and deliborate, no noise emanating whatsoever. Wearing a night-black body suit, he contemplated his mission. The building which he approached was a large house, with designs that resembled Roman architecture. Entering through the front door would be suicide, the information his employer gave him suggested using a vacant guest room window, security would be light there.

Upon reaching the outside wall of the house, he made his way around the corner to the window, crouching low to avoid unwanted detection from prying eyes. He positioned himself directly under the window, and activated his hover-soles. Through the miracles of reversed electromagnetic polarity, he rose in the air until he reached the window. The lock on the window was located inside, but that wouldn't hinder him. He smiled under his black mask as he brandished a small gadget that disrupted the electro-lock on the window. Easing the window open, he stepped over the pane and inside the room, deactivating his hover-soles once inside.

The routine security rounds would just be finishing up, and the guard would likely check this room. He closed the window and fixed the curtains, then made his way to a position where he could ambush the doorway. After a few minutes, he began to hear footsteps. He distinguished two people, but there was only supposed to be one guard checking this wing. His heart raced as he thought of what he could do, finally deciding upon one plan of action. He dove under a bed just as the guard unlocked the door (though the windows had electro-locks, the doors still carried conventional key-locks). Stepping inside, the guard noticed nothing peculiar, and left, locking the door behind him.

The would-be assassin crawled out from under the bed, and began working on the door lock. After several uncomfortable minutes, he was able to free the door handle. He was far behind schedule, this was taking too long. He hurried down the now-empty hallway in search of his quarry. The hard part wasn’t the kill itself, but actually getting there. Especially with Supreme Chancellor Delphi’s security. But that didn’t discourage him. He crept up behind the guard who had previously checked the room and silently dispatched him with a quick twist of the neck. The other guard, who was further down the hallway, was quickly dealt with by a tranquilizer dart. The assassin then made his way to the Chancellor’s room.

Once there, he fired a tranquilizer at the guard standing next to the door. A thud sounded as the guard dropped to the floor. That satisfied him enough to try for the door-lock. It only took him a few seconds, and he was in the chancellor’s room. He slipped a poison agent (most likely cyanide) into the chancellor’s mouth, helping him swallow it with his hand. The chancellor awakened to find that he could not breathe, and quickly died thereafter. The assassin smiled as he stared at the corpse in the bed, then proceeded to make his escape out the bedroom window. Security was changing shifts, providing a distraction for him to climb out. Once outside the window, he pushed it shut, and set his hover-soles for descent. He reached the dew soaked grass moments later, and sprinted away. He would never be caught, for he wasn’t ever there…

*MIN Breaking News*
Sometime last night, Supreme Chancellor Walter Delphi died in his sleep. Preliminary autopsy reports indicate that he died of asphyxiation. Several guards were also found incapacitated or dead inside the chancellor’s home. We go now to a live appearance of Supreme Warlord Niel Hawkins for his input on this matter.

“This is a truly agonizing event, and our thoughts and prayers go out to the chancellor’s family. It is with a heavy heart that I must announce that hereafter, I will be presiding as the new supreme chancellor.”

Critics of Hawkins have been trying to arouse suspicion that he may have been behind the assassination, an allegation which he emphatically denies. This has been an MIN news report with Terry Norvill. Thank you, and good afternoon.
