Television station MTUZ out of the national capital, Veranoos, had the following report:

Breaking news out of Kali*. Rebels are staging a protest to get the state to secede from the Federation. We at M-T-U-Z# have learned that the rebels are angry over the recent use of trash for energy, which was recently decided by Parliament among three total options. The option that the national legislature selected was to use it for energy and the protesters are apparently angry about the decreased environmental quality.

Sound bite: "Why do they think they have to *bleep* up the environment by using garbage for energy?"--protestor Andrew Brenmeister

The Merian Bureau of Investigation is on the scene trying to contain the situation.

* = ooc addition: See http://nation-states.tripod.com/images/map.jpg to see where it is.

# = ooc comment: The hyphens are normal for broadcast journalism. Like a story on the student government at the university I am attending would say A-S-U-W.

*update on the situation in Kali from MTUZ*

We have an update on the protests in Kali. We learned that the Merian Bureau of Investigation is on the scene and have been informed of 10 protestors hiding in a log cabin just outside a forest. The M-B-I says that the protestors have made threats against the federal government and will be arrested as soon as possible. The bureau is considering smoking the protesters out of the cabin. More on this story as it develops.

More on the Kali situation from MTUZ

The protests in Kali weren't a hostage situation, this from the M-B-I. All 10 protestors have been arrested after being smoked out of the cabin and face federal charges of making threats against the government. The suspects were apprehended after the Bureau opted to toss smoke bombs into the building and the 10 suspects came out coughing and sputtering. They are being held in a federal prison only about 15 kilometers from the scene.
